The Fish Camp had recently re-opened after sustaining significant damage during last year's flood. I was really impressed by their nice portion sizes. I had the whole fried catfish. They brought me a very nice size catfish. It was lightly battered and fried to perfection. Sides were a choice of fries or baked potato, coleslaw vinegar or mayonnaise based. Tasty hush puppies were included. IMHO The Fish Camp is one of the best catfish restaurants around and I know my fish.

Soooooo delicious! Be prepared to eat a lot or share with someone! The vinegar coleslaw is a little strong so I may try the mayo version next time. Definitely worth the drive. :)

Stopped by here after the Banana Pudding Festival. Casual and friendly spot. We each got the fish sandwich, a nice portion of catfish with lettuce, tomato, pickles and mayo. Shared slaw and onion rings for sides. The fish was perfect - crispy and surprisingly light. Sides were good. Prices reasonable. It was just the right amount of food for a late lunch. I would come here again if we found ourselves in the Centerville area.

I dont know what happened to this establishment, but the quality has declined in the last couple years. The fried catfish is always good, but the whole fish id mushy snd tasteless. We had the waitress try to have it done over and the resultd were the same. Also the fries were cold, it was overall a bad experience and the staff were less than apologetic. We will go to Rubys or Homestead for fish from now on.

I went out to visit the parents this weekend and was starving. So I suggested BBQ or catfish - their choice. So we ended up driving out to Centerville to hit up Fish Camp. If you live in Nashville just know that this is waaaaaay out of your way. But if you are in the neighborhood you should definitely stop by because these people have been here a long time and have rebuilt after being destroyed by the flood. They deserve your support...and you deserve FRIED CATFISH. Am I right? We were immediately greeted and instructed to seat ourselves. We were there early enough that it wasn't very busy, but by the time we left it was filling in quite a bit. We got drinks immediately while we perused the menu. You can get whole catfish or fillet catfish that comes with beans (gross!), slaw (mayo or vinegar based) and hush puppies. They had other items too, but I wasn't about to deviate from my initial plan. I did order some fried mushrooms since I was so hungry and hoped those would be out sooner rather than later. Fried Mushrooms - everything tastes better fried. These were your average mushrooms, nothing special. Watch out on those first few - they are HOT inside!! Let them cool down! Catfish - the cornmeal breading was done just right and it was a big slab of catfish (I only got the half fillet too!). It tasted hot and fresh. I haven't had much better catfish anywhere. Fries - too fat. I like skinny fries and these were just too big for me. I didn't eat many of them...more room for other items! Hush puppies - larger than usual, hot, slightly crispy crust on outside, soft on the inside. These were damn fine hushpuppies. Like so good that I took home all 3 of my mom's and the 2 my dad didn't eat to save for later. And I don't like leftovers. They were pretty damn delicious. Vinegar slaw - pretty good, definitely better than the mayo slaw (since I don't like mayo, that goes without saying) Sadly I was too full to get any dessert like pecan pie, icebox pie, etc. Should have saved some room but I just couldn't. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. The clientele are all locals from the area and seemed like everyone knew everyone else...and if they didn't, they still nodded hello to you when they walked by. Ah, the country! Take your ticket up to the front register when you get ready to go but don't forget to tip your waitress on your table. They do take credit cards or cash... hell, they might take checks too, I dunno. When you leave take a look in the pond and watch all the fish swimming around. It is chock full of fish! Apparently there used to be huge catfish in there before the flood, not sure about now. Perhaps I had him for dinner. You like local community establishments? You want to support local businesses? Then you should hit up this place sometime.

Not my typical place to dine but I found myself in Centerville on a sales call around lunch time so I decided to give it a try. Settled on the catfish which was tasty and came with choice of sides. I had the vinegar slaw, hush puppies, and something else which was not memorable. Ice tea was cold and the service was pleasant. Portion was more than I could eat. My companion also got catfish but ordered the "large" size. We could not tell the difference between the two so I would stick with the regular portion.

For my money the best restaurant in Centerville, TN. Fish Camp has been around for as long as I can remember, and even after having to rebuild from the historic flood they serve fantastic catfish with all the fixins. Everything they serve is fresh and delicious. One of the best pure catfish restaurants I have ever been to... You have the choice of vinegar or mayo slaw... The vinegar slaw is legendary in my book. Sweet and delicious. Oh, and if catfish isn't your thing they also serve a great steak per my wife (who is not a seafood eater). As noted by some of the other reviews, this place is off the beaten path. If you are in Nashville it might be a little too far out of the way... Unless you are like me and just like exploring new places anyway. If you are anywhere close, you have to try it.
