We ate here tonight while staying at Montgomery Bell park and let me tell you it was absolutely delicious! Good catfish house restaurants have all but disappeared, but this is one that holds on to those good Southern roots and does catfish the way it should be done. It felt like going to eat at a family member's house. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. The food came out quickly and everything was cooked to perfection. The fillets were meaty and plentiful. I got plain fillets first, but our server was kind enough to bring me the hot and spicy fillets for my second round. They were absolutely incredible! I'm glad I didn't eat too much of the white beans, cole slaw, and hush puppies (although it was very difficult not doing so) because I ate those fillets like it was my last meal. To top it off, the owner came out in his apron and walked from table to table greeting everyone and asking how everything was. That's the kind of personal touch that made this place so special. Keep your Outback and Chili's; I'll take a great family-owned restaurant like this every time. Thanks so much to Twin Lakes Catfish Kitchen! I'll definitely make the hour long trip from home to eat there again very soon!
Great food and great service highly recommend. Establishment was very clean and ran well came from detroit and this food topped my trip off Chris wiltsie of taylor mi
First things first: It is at Hwy 70 EAST, not west and only a mile or so from the State Park (not 6 miles as mapped on Yelp). Catfish was good, but not the best I've ever had. Hushpuppies taste like they are made on site, not prepackaged and pretty good. My hushpuppies were served medium rare (raw in the middle) but the outer shell was tasty. The half order was plenty with 2 filets, slaw, hushpuppies, a bowl of delicious white beans, and a load of great french fries (fresh, not frozen) - - just the way catfish should be served. My server was very sweet, prompt and so very helpful. Wednesday night was all-you-can-eat fried quail night, but because of the raves about the catfish I decided to go that route. PS: The red pepper relish is "da bomb"! I bought a jar (available at the register) to take home. I would eat here again.
