Hands down, my favorite Mexican place ever! Not only is the food phenomenal, but the service is even better. My roommate & I go here at least once every 2 weeks. Love the staff!

Good solid Mexican joint. Service was prompt. Food was better than average with an extensive menu. I had the #1 and the Taco was quite good but the enchiladas were the star. The chicken was prepared shredded and it was very moist. Chips where warm and the salsa very tasty.

Well I have been so disappointed lately while eating out..seems like nothing is WoWing me...Tonight we opted to eat Mexican and to try a place we have never been to before, so we had over towards Hickory Hollow area to try out Camino Real. It is a large restaurant with tons of parking. The inside is typical Spanish design..so we thought it would be good to try out. We were greeted immediately by the host, and seated. Our waitress came quickly and took our order. We had a soda and Bud Draft (light really, but I didn't tell him and he couldn't tell the difference) The Happy Hour special was Bud Light, Miller Light for only $1.25 per draft..so he got the Bud Light..( 2 of them ...) and he ordered the Seafood Combo..Fish and shrimp with rice and steamed veggies...didn't know it until it arrived but it was sparse like a diet plate...and my man was NOT happy with it... They serve him Ranch dressing instead of Tarter sauce and lime wedges...and I opted for the Burrito Real, beef with rice and beans on the side...topped with lettuce cheese and sour cream I ordered side of Pico sauce..I needed some spice..the salsa was good but NOT THE BEST... Well the dinner was $32 with taxes and then we left her a $5 tip...It was New Years Eve and we were there about 6pm..I would go again, but NOT on purpose...to many places to choose in Nashville to return to a MEDIUM Restaurant...I give them only 3 stars...but you be the judge!!!!

Acapulco salad is very tasty. Flan is so-so, Las Cazuelas makes it so much better. Convenient location.

Ate here once. It was bland and over priced. Should have known that being able to get a table on Cinco de Mayo was a bad omen. Only went here because our favorite place was turning people away. Goto Casa Fiesta it's right across the street. The food is way better and the strawberry margaritas are off the chain.

    (1)
  • Kevin B.

Go across the street to Casa Fiesta instead. The price is double here and the food is half as good. I also got an entire pitcher of margaritas to split with my wife (20$) and I'm not convinced there is any alcohol in it. Severe disappointment.

Great value for a filling lunch! Love this place for service, food quality and their staff friendliness. Express lunches start @ $5.99 plus price of drink. This opening price point has 4-5 options, most meals can be purchased for under $8 during the lunch service hours.

As Mexican dives in and around Nashville are really all created equal, this one gets the edge in service.

No, no, no, no. I've been here a few times and foolishly keep going back thinking it will get better and that they are just having an "off" night. Apparently they are just bad. Mexican food is pretty easy in my opinion, especially the Americanized version we eat in the US. Every time I've gotten food here i could've closed my eyes and not been able to tell you what type of meat I was eating. This is a bad sign. Also my food is always cold when it reaches the table- I've had fajitas twice that come in a sizzling platter and they're cold. How does that happen? On top of that they're about $4-$5 more expensive per plate than most Mexican restaurants. I really tried to like it here since some of our friends are fans, but I can't keep giving this place my money for food we could make 10X better at home.

Disappointed by this place. Service started fast, prices seemed good, but the food was mushy, oily, somewhat tasteless, and I just didn't get it. Haven't been back and don't really recommend it.

One of the joys of living in Antioch is that you can find a great Mexican restaurant about every 100 yards. Everyone in the area has their favorites, and Camino Real is one of three that I regularly visit. The menu is pretty consistent with other offerings in the area, focusing on burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, quesadillas, and other Mexican specialties. There are several items off the grill that sound excellent, but I generally am stuck in a rut and order the Fajita Quesadilla, which features grilled chicken and veggies stuffed in a tortilla with beans and cheese and then grilled. The salsa is pretty traditional, with a bit of a bite, and the chips run freely. The service we've received is always top notch, and the please is clean and inviting. We've also never had to wait for a table, not because of the quality of the restaurant, but most likely due to being a bit off the main road, so it's a good place for a quick meal.

Usually I give 5 stars here. I was disappointed that the cup had lipstick on it from a previous patron. I ordered something new and ate it but didn't really enjoy the sauce. I don't fault them for that though because it was listed as a house special sauce so it hasn't ben americanized.

Came here on a Thursday night for dinner. The restaurant was not too crowded and me and my party were seated immediately. Our waiter immediately greeted us and took our drink order. Our food order was taken in moderate time. I was not too crazy about the salsa that we were given, it was too thin for me. The food however was very good. I ordered the shrimp fajitas and was given a massive portion. The price was very reasonable as well. My party consisted of 3 adults and two kids, with two rounds of beer, the bill was only a little over $50. If you love Mexican food this is a nice place to visit!

We have a large selection of Mexican Restaurants in our area, but like all of them they are good. I try to pick a favorite at each restaurant so I will continue doing business with them all. I probably go to this one a little more than some of the others, but they just have a few things on their menu that I think theirs is the best. While I don't drink margaritas my sister says theirs are the best. Our community is happy to have Camino Real in our area.

By far the beat Mexican place around. Food is great service is awesome great drink prices. Super friendly staff, Pablo runs a tight ship. Never a wait. I often go a couple times a week

So this is a place that I used to come to all the time in high school. Every time I go there, I'll meet someone I know. There's a lot of nostalgia and memories from here. I don't go here as often now, but when I get together with some high school friends, this is the one place that we'll all agree to... No matter what. :D The service is wonderful and the staff is oh so friendly! The guy who own the place (or whoever that guy is is at the front) is always so welcoming and friendly. The food is your standard Mexican cuisine that you get at most places.

Anytime I'm in Nashville, my family and I go to Camino. We've been going here for years. Between the service, the prices, and the food, this place is hard to beat. Happy hour is 3-8 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday. Happy hour includes 2-for-1 margaritas and $1.25 draft beer (I know, awesome!). My sister is vegetarian and is always accommodated here. There's a wide variety of food, and everything I've tasted is delicious. Pablo and the staff at Camino are really the shining star that make me give Camino an enthusiastic 5-star review. From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, they make you feel right at home. Next time you go to Camino, order a margaritas and tell Pablo I said Hi!

ABSOLUTELY the BEST Mexican Restaurant that I have ever eaten at. When my husband and I lived in the Nashville area, we visited Camino Real at least once a week!!! We honestly craved it! The food is to die for, and the service is great! Pablo is awesome & treats you like family. We never realized how difficult it would be to find a great Mexican restaurant when we moved away. We are still searching, after living in Washington D.C. and now New York. Hope to make our way back to Camino one day :)

I'm a Nashville native. I love this place. I've been to a lot of Mexican restaurants in the Nashville area and this place is BY FAR the best. This is going to be short and sweet - I agree with Heather when I say that I love me some Mexican food. These people always treat me like family and they serve thousands of people a week. The service is always fast and the food is always good. I always know what to expect when I eat here and I have NEVER had a bad experience with CR. I cannot say this about any other place I have ever eaten. You want some good Mexican food? Eat here. You won't be disappointed. P.S. - They make a really good churro.

Love this place! It is our favorite restaurant. Chorizo queso dip and chorizo tacos with spicy tomatillo sauce, raw onion and cilantro. Not to mention the giant dos Equis.

  • Carrie H.

My favorite restaurant. I can't recommend the chorizo dip enough! My fiancé and I have been regulars here for going on three years.... And we've never had better Mexican ever! The place is always clean, including nice clean rest rooms, and the service is always FANTASTIC! Try the fried cheesecake.... It's the best!

We were meeting some new friends for lunch, and they suggested Camino Real. Being from Texas, my wife and I have pretty high standards when it comes to Mexican food. I didn't know exactly what we'd find at Camino Real, but I was willing to give them a shot. This place isn't divey at all. The colorfully-painted walls had more of a pueblo feel. It was very clean and cozy. All of the staff were also quite friendly, including the host, waiter, busboys, etc. I ended up ordering the Enchiladas Supremas, which comes with four different enchiladas: beef, chicken, cheese, and bean. It's also topped with enchilada sauce, lettuce, tomato, and sour cream. All this for only $9.49! Each enchilada had its merits, but I liked the bean enchilada the best. My only criticism is that diced tomatoes would be better than one big tomato slice. Camino Real definitely had some of the best Mexican food we've found thus far in Nashville. I will definitely be back, especially to try out the chorizo queso dip!

Good, fast, and cheap. I met a friend for lunch who lives in Antioch since I had to go to Freeland Chevrolet. I looked up Camino Real online and learned it's a chain which didn't exactly thrill me. I knew exactly what I wanted. Vegetarian tacos and beans. Simple and fast. Our food came out quickly, and it was correct and hot. The food was yummy. Not exciting or special but yummy. The chips and salsa were also good, with the salsa being better than the chips. The service was lacking but it was a Mexican restaurant at lunch time. I would have liked more water, but no big deal. If I was ever in Antioch and my friend suggested Antioch, I would go to Camino Real again as I love good $6 lunches.

BEST Mexican food I've ever had! It is consistently delicious. The staff is great. Everything about the restaurant is consistently exceptional - the food, the service, and the staff. We moved from Antioch to Bellevue and still make the drive every time we want Mexican food. Love this place!!

Meant to update this much, much sooner. We both got sick after eating here, yes the 12 or so hours it takes. Haven't returned and won't be unfortunately.

I have been coming to this restaurant for almost my whole life. I was 10 when I first came & I am almost 18. I come every year for my birthday & also very often almost once a week. I love it here. The people are like my second family. The manager, Pablo, is so caring for others & always asks EVERY PERSON THAT WALKS IN how they are & how their family is. He cares. The food is the normal Tex-Mex. It's not authentic, but if you want authentic you need to go deep in Nashville. Most restaurants these days aren't gonna be authentic mexican food. I love every person who works there & I won't stop going here. Probably never. :)

This here... my favorite Mexican restaurant! The staff are always nice and knowledgeable about the menu and daily specials. Ordering to go is great also, just .65 cent extra to go but I'm not complaining! Every time I come here I always see familiar places and I always feel welcome. Everything on the menu is great! Portions are huge! Prices are cheap for the portion sizes! Wednesdays they have kids meals for $1.99. First time I ate here years ago I ordered mixed fajitas and fell in love. Here and there I'll order fajitas but I always like to try new things. The fajitas have lots of flavor! My favorite item on the menu that I have ordered is the burrito real. Something about a burrito smothered in red sauce and lettuce, sour cream, and tomato is just so darn tasty! You must get the desserts when you are here! Fried ice cream!!! Hello can we say yum! All I can say is go here for great Mexican food, service, and atmosphere! Others may beg to differ but Camino Real is one the best! Tip: On Fridays and Saturdays the parking lot is always packed as they have drink specials. So be prepared to wait!

Camino Real is pretty decent! I've never had a bad meal, the service is usually pretty quick too. Not everyone speaks great English, but hey, its a Mexican restaurant, i actually prefer some authentic-ness. My friend got the dinner portion California Burrito and i kid you not, the size of his head! it was huge. I had the fajitas, which also were plentiful. Happy hour is a great deal (although Ive only gone during working lunch hours so i haven't been able to partake)

Quickly becoming my go to restaurant for Mexican food, other than fajitas (sorry, have a favorite place for those.) The food is great! Tonight I had the Burrito Real and could barely finish the meal. The servers are great and pick at my children and make them laugh. We always have a nice family dinner!

  • Benjamin S.

Oy, I went here for a business meeting wanting some really good cheesy goodness, and I was not impressed. I ordered what I thought were bean and cheese enchiladas, but they were more like bean and sauce. Seriously, all I tasted was sauce and all I saw in the enchiladas were beans. This of course was after they brought me the wrong thing and had to take it back. When I order cheese or bean and cheese enchiladas, I expect some cheese please, and not just on the side. If they are cheese enchiladas, then I expect a lot of cheese! That being said, the guacamole and rice were good, but the beans were a little cold. On the other hand the dessert one of my friends got, was amazing! I need to have desserts more often at mexican restaurants. I might give this place another chance, but not anytime soon.

We recently discovered this place, upon rediscovery that there's a Target a heck of a lot closer to us than the Donelson one we've been driving to. Just as you pull in there's Camino Real on the right. I love me some Mexican food, so we had to try it out. What surprised me the most when we entered was the smell? It was unique to say the least. My husband assured me it was just because the food was authentic, so I pushed that aside. Our server was super fast and nice. The menu was huge. I'm not used to having so many choices at a Mexican joint so it took me a while to order the same thing I pretty much get everywhere. He brought us out some chips to snack on while we waited for our order to be filled. The chips were piping hot and fresh every time they were refilled. I'm not ashamed to say I filled up on chips. When my fajitas arrived I was made aware I had just received a king sized meal. I took it to go and ate on it for two days. So my advice is, if you like leftovers, this is the plate for you. If not, share it with somebody, because this is a LOT of food. I would say they're about the same price wise as anybody else, so go and try this place out.

of all the mexican restaurants in the antioch/tusculum area, camino real is top 2 (la terrazza is the other). the staff is always friendly, the service is always fast, and the food is (more often than not) great. if you go, don't skip out on the sangria - whether it's homemade or not, it's all star.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
