When going to an authentic restaurant, and trying to determine if the food will be food or not, I like to look for two clues. I look for the the ethnic group and for hipsters. This is a sure fire way of knowing the food was good, and this place was textbook. In my opinion this is the BEST Mexican food in Nashville! The food wasn't that frozen, and microwaved "food" they serve at most "Mexican" restaurants in the area. The portions are enormous, the salsa and guacamole are fresh, and the tortillas are HOMEMADE! They even serve freakin 32oz coronas! Highly recommend this place and then you'll never want to go to a Mazatlan or Cinco again. Real food people.

Five star? Keeping the price and location in mind, yes! Flavor, spice, variety - all are here and well priced. Everything I had came with a good base seasoning, and a choice of salsa and two different hot sauces, you have the heat scale covered. This is my first time, but I shall become a regular if this is the standard. Oh, and their beans are not the typical bland fare. They have a really nice hearty flavor. I'll be back!

You definitely won't leave hungry. First time to eat here but won't be the last. Delicious.

The food is outstanding: wonderful homemade corn tortillas come with the Carne Asada, delicious salsa, great guacamole and the chicken enchiladas suizas were very good. Although they were very busy the Sunday we went, they seated us within 15 minutes. The service was average and the food took too long. It's not very clean. The parking is limited. We'll try getting take out next time.

Had the chimichanga - wonderful! Salsa was homemade. Service was very good. I will be back!

Having just moved here from California I was quite wary of all Mexican restaurants in Nashville. As my boyfriend and I were heading down to Atlanta for the weekend I had the sudden urge for a burrito. After a quick yelp search we found Acapulco Burrito and thought it looked promising enough to let our spoiled CA taste buds decide. After tasting the Burrito Mexicano and Burrito Mole I can proudly proclaim that we have found a Mexican restaurant that can satisfy our cravings! The chips and salsa were delicious as well! And our server was incredibly attentive and sweet. Tldr: this place is amazing!

If you are looking for a genuine Mexican experience, look no further. Nestled in a repurposed Waffle House behind a gas station is this gem of a restaurant. First the tejano music was amazing, considering it was blaring for over thirty minutes from a road worker's cell phone. We were in fact the minority and the majority did not seem to mind. The food was a treat that will make you feel like you truly went to Mexico. My chimichanga was filled with chicken, peppers and onions that tasted like a chicken philly cheesesteak. At 2 this morning...we will leave that alone. When people say you get what you pay for, they are right. This place is cheap. Now as far as the rest of the reviewers giving this place high marks... No. No. No. No. No. No. I don't know who is paying or falsifying reviews but no effing way. No.

Authentic Mexican/Central American food right at the highway exit! The food is fantastic. We ordered one Mexican burrito, cheese & chicharon papusa, and steak chalupa and two cokes for the two of us. The burrito was the best. It was fresh, filled with ground chorizo and fresh veggies, then topped with Mexican melted cheese. The papusa was a close second and was a soft homemade corn tortilla pocket filled with cheese with specks of pork. It was warm, soft, and delicious. When you order they provide you with fresh chips and the best fresh homemade salsa for free. The food comes with two types of homemade hot sauces, or you can choose from about four bottled international brands that are on the table to use as you like. The bill came to $17 and it was quick and convenient. One star was subtracted for the cleanliness. The restrooms are only for guests but are dirty and the floor in the restaurant was slippery from food on the floor. I will be back the next time we are going through Nashville.

Generous portions, excellent shrimp diablo and seafood soup. The soup had clams, crab legs, shrimp, and calamari. The tortillas that were served are handmade. This is the most authentic Mexican food I have eaten in Nashville. Highly recommended!

I went here last night with my mom and a friend because it was the only restaurant in the area and it had good reviews. The people reviewing this place saying it's the best and most authentic mexican food they've ever eaten must be comparing this place to Taco Bell because this place isn't authentic at all! First of all they don't even use mexican cheese, they use mozzarella. They also don't season there food, the chicken in my quesadilla, the shrimp on my tacos, and the fish on my other taco were all un seasoned. The service also wasn't the best.. our waitress had an extremely hard time communicating with us and ended up messing up our order and she wasn't personable at all.

Bring cash! I ordered take-out for lunch since I work nearby. After waiting 10 min or so my food was ready and the host (who looked like he might be the manager) went to cash me out. My debit card did not work. We swiped it twice and even tried a different card, every time it came back as "transaction failed." A big thank you to the handsome stranger behind me who offered to pay for my meal, unfortunately he was in the same boat as me and without cash. We both wound up at the gas station next door paying to access our own money at the ATM. The whole ordeal used up my entire lunch break and then some. The plus side? Even counting the ATM fees, the price was reasonable. The portions are large, the ingredients were fresh, and the food was delicious! But bring cash. You know, just in case.

A co-worker of mine mentioned that this place had pretty good salsa, and he was right! The salsa is so delicious! The rest of their menu great too. I've had the Burrito Texas and the chimichanga so far and both have been full of flavor. The burrito texas has this awesome red sauce. You can also add a little kick to your food with two different made in house hot sauces they have on the table. I'm definitely glad this place is nearby. The environment is inviting, but you can tell that the interior is a little torn down. The delicious food easily makes up for it. You also can't go wrong with free chips and salsa, large portions, and super friendly staff.

Delicious, authentic Mexican food from the chips and salsa to the horchata and tamarindo. I had the mole enchiladas which were great! Next time I'll try to mole burrito. My husband's shrimp burrito covered in salsa verde was a huge hit with him. They didn't have shrimp burritos on the menu but they made it for him anyway. We have been searching for an authentic Mexican restaurant since moving here from Southern California where we were spoiled with good Mexican restaurants and taco trucks. The moment we had the chips and salsa, we had huge sighs of relief...yes, we have finally found a decent place! We will definitely be frequent customers!

Loved the food, second time coming here but it was the first time eating here.I read reviews complaining on the kind of cheese they use and that it is mozzarella instead of of Queso fresco/crumbling cheese. The food was great with mozzarella and I'm sure it would taste better/different with fresco but that wasn't an issue on determining the taste of the food. I ordered the Pechuga Acapulco which is a chicken breast cooked fajita style with mozzarella cheese on top, I was expecting cheese dip on top but it tasted great the way it was. Loved the tortillas that are made fresh daily. The orcharta was a little too sweet. The guacamole was delicious. I'm a Mexican and was very impressed with the food.I usually don't eat out at Mexican restaurants but I will definitely be returning here! Oh and I tried a "mulita" which is a small corn made tortilla fried with cilantro, onions, cheese, avocado and choice of meat and topped with a small corn tortilla on top (I had the asada one and it was sooooooo good!) The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because there was only one waiter tending all the tables. The restaurant was small but there was at least 6 tables filled and the poor girl was rushing back and forth. Still the service provided was acceptable under the circumstances. Hopefully it's not always like that.

We LOVE this place. You want Mexican? They got your Mexican. Hell, you want El Salvadorian? Because they have that too. If you like REAL, authentic Mexican food, I highly recommend this place. We live in Cane Ridge so we first went to Acapulco in search of a nearby Mexican restaurant. Being right off the exit in an old Waffle House building, it seemed a little sketchy. I'm glad we went in. (Don't confuse Acapulco with the Mexican restaurant behind it by the hotel - now that one is scary.) This was about a year and a half ago. Since we've been dining here, the place has had 3 different owners. Luckily the menu didn't change one bit. We first started off with tacos. Don't picture the crunchy crap you get at Taco Bell, because those aren't real tacos. My boyfriend gets asada (steak) and I get chicken. Delicious. They come with grilled onion, cilantro, and lime although you can choose to nix those if you're picky. Squeeze some lime on it and eat it the way they serve it. We've also tried their fish tacos [yum], mariscos (seafood) soup with coconut [yum], tostada de camaron (shrimp) [yum], and chicharron (pork) papusas [YUM]. Basically everything's yummy...and cheap! They have a huge menu and we have yet to explore everything on it. The new owners are really nice and appreciate customers. They did make one change - free chips and salsa! Previous owners did not offer the appetizer, although food never takes a long time. Now instead of staring at each other or watching Spanish soap operas you have something to snack on while your food is being prepared.

The salsa is delicious. (Overheard a guy asking for the recipe.) The waitstaff is very friendly and attentive, and the Enchiladas Verde were great. Don't be fooled by the humble exterior and location, you'll be glad you stopped in. I will definitely be back. Also, be sure to ask what other salsas they have. Guy at the table next to me ended up with an assortment, just because he asked.

Nice cheap meal. We love the carne asada mulitas, the papusa revueltas and the fish tacos. Everything we have tried is great and the two of us eat for less than $10. Several of the girls that work there are pretty, nice and sociable. Highly recommended.

This was the only Mexican food I had in Nashville while I was there on a work trip and it was decent. I ordered a plain ol' bean and cheese burrito because I figured a place couldn't screw that up. It was good, but it had rice in it as well, which isn't what a bean and cheese burrito is supposed to entail. The burrito itself was a decent size for $5.00 and the place was cute and inviting. It is actually a sit down restaurant which I wasn't aware of, I thought it would be more like a taco shop. I was a bit disappointed since I was on a 30 minute lunch break, but they actually made the food to go for me in 10 minutes or so, so it worked out.. If I was permanently in Tennessee and worked down the street at the facility I was training at, I would probably go there once a while for lunch time still, especially since it is the only Mexican joint in the area. Just be very clear about what you're wanting!

I've had many different dishes here from the Menudo to the caldo de pescado to the tacos (Menudo is only served on Sundays). Everything is excellent. The table salsa is fantastic and the salsa picante (verde y roja) is spicy hot and muy bien. Like someone else commented previously, I too knew this place would be good when I saw I was about the only gringo in the joint. That and the fact it's in an old Waffle House.

My wife and I just stopped here after seeing the reviews. We were not disappointed. The staff is friendly and attentive, the restaurant is spotless and the food is authentic. If you are looking for Tex-Mex ONLY, this is not the place for you. They serve the tacos with the small double tortillas, your choice of grilled meat topped with onion and cilantro. The green jalapeno sauce was flavorful and very hot! They are absolutely addictive! We will definitely be going back!

This has been one of the worst Mexican restaurants we've had, they don't use Mexican cheese they use mozzarella cheese, we got huraches they put Pico de Gallo on top wich is not they the right way to prepare, my wife asked the waitress if the huarache came with fresh crumbling Mexican cheese on top she said I think is parmesan cheese, and the sweet tea was the nastiest prepared with straight tap water we had to ask the waitress to bring something else. Nothing was good at this place we do not recommended this to anyone I'm disappointed at the other people writing reviews saying it was good, you guys made me waste $45.00.

We thought we would try this place with all the great reviews but was very disappointed! Ordered the red (very sweet) sauce chicken enchiladas plate and the Acapulco burrito with chicken was soggy and the chicken flavor we did not like at all. I would not recommend this place.
