I usually judge a Mexican restaurant by their salsa and their queso. This place gets 5 stars for both. Fresh, house-made salsa - unbelievably good. I want to bathe in it. Got the steak and shrimp, as suggested by another yelp review, and it was good - better than was to be expected for a $12 steak + shrimp. Fresh, tender, and tasty. I'd go back for sure. Also, if you're judging a Mexican restaurant based on its look and atmosphere, you clearly need to reevaluate your life. The foods good here. The atmosphere is small town restaurant, nothing fancy, but it was clean. What more do you need? Also, completely irrelevant, but the hostess and waitresses were all incredibly good-looking. If that helps in your restaurant decision.

Very friendly staff, good food, large portions. Music on thursday! Great local spot, small, and simple, but delicious food.

The staff was very kind, cordial, and attentive to me and my brother. The food was very bland, like it lacked the proper seasoning. Not the best Anderson County has to offer. If you want the best Mexican food in Anderson County, go to Los Caballeros in Clinton, TN. They are by far the best Mexican restaurant in Anderson County, and in my opinion, the best in the region! I have yet to find a Mexican restaurant better than Los Caballeros in Clinton!

Gave this place a try for the first time tonight and was impressed.. The place seemed nice and clean and the staff was helpful. Tried the steak and shrimp with beans and rice. The food was served quickly and was hot and fresh, the flavor of the steak and shrimp was almost perfect, and the rice was nice and moist, not dried out like some places. Prices were very reasonable and comparable to other Mexican restaurants around the area. They do charge an extra 50 cents for carry out orders, while that's not outrageous, no one else in the area that I know of charges extra for take out. Consider this a "first impression review, I'll definitely be returning to try this place again, and would recommend that anyone give it a try.

I mean it's a tiny local owned restaurant but the food is really great and so are the prices.

They don't have 100% authentic Mexican food nor does any other Mexican restaurant in the vicinity. So... if you're looking for that, then you need to drive a few more hours south. If you're searching for a decent meal at a reasonable price, then La Sierra is the place for you! Service: I have to admit that I find their service to be quite inconsistent. If you're a regular, you know what I am talking about. It isn't an issue with etiquette, their employees are always polite. It just seems like some servers know what they're doing while others seem absolutely clueless. Hopefully, they implement some better training so they can all get on the same page. Things tend to get pretty busy during lunch hours, especially 12~1pm so plan accordingly. Food: I find their chicken dishes to be better than their other meat dishes, mainly because of the consistency. It's pretty difficult to mess up chicken unless we're talking about Bojangles down the street, but we will save that for later. Chimichanga, quesadilla, taco, california burrito, or nachos are all solid choices with chicken. I find their beef dishes to be a toss-up. Sometimes, they cook it well and other times not so much. Their steak and shrimp is pretty good if you catch their cook on a good day. Arroz con carne is also a solid choice because uhh rice, cheese, onions, and steak? Sign me up, coach! Their carne asada is a good choice. Lastly, you can't go wrong with fajitas. Seriously, you can't. Most of the seasoning is the same. Either salt and pepper or your typical southwestern blend so don't expect an euphoria of flavors exploding in your mouth. Their portions are fairly large so excellent for those of you in bulking season. Also, their drink cups are rather large, not sure why I am mentioning this. They also have a decent beer selection for those of you not interested in hand-crafted beers. If you're looking for hand-crafted beers, you're in the wrong place. Overall, their meals will leave you full with a food coma not too far behind. Interior: Umm... they're going for a Mexican style theme because uhh they're a Mexican restaurant. Not very aesthetically pleasing, but on a brighter note it's not dirty. So if you're in the area and you're craving some Mexican food, give it a try. Remember, you can't go wrong with fajitas!

This place has great food and we and many of our friends eat there a lot. I am disappointed this evening though because we arrived there at 8:35 this evening on a Saturday night and the sign posted a 9pm closing. Two young girls were running the place and they both refused to serve us saying they were closing early! There were two couples already in there eating and they had piled the chairs up on the tables all around them..RUDE!! I am not giving this place a negative review because I like the food, prices and owner but he definitely needs to consider hiring more interested employees who care more about his business, their job and the customers than themselves and getting home early.

Just wicked good Mexican. In my opinion the best I've had in East Tennessee. The chicken fajitas are so great.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
