The best place for Mexican in Yankton. It's more affordable than El Tapitio (the other Mexican place in town) and usually tastes much better. My husband and I eat here pretty regularly, it's our "go-to" place in town. If you can get past the sloppy decor and ceiling tiles - you're going to have a tasty meal for a decent price. It's definitely a small town place, don't expect amazing Tex-Mex or authentic Mexican food. One thing to definitely try is their chorizo-cheeze dip. It's delicious (wish I weren't a Vegetarian now if only for this appetizer.) I usually get the shrimp quesadilla (#77 on the menu) and it's always delicious.

This is literally the worst Mexican food I've ever eaten without having gone through a drive-thru. It is as if someone's farm-wife grandmother decided to make Mexican food, never having had actual Mexican food. The place is dirty and broken. The salsa doesn't taste like anything but tomatoes. If you're a fan of actual Mexican food, go to El Tapatio. If you like fake, crappy Mexican save yourself some time and money and go to Taco Bell or Taco John's.

Worst Mexican food I've eaten. The salsa was terrible. Not sure why, but it tasted like cocktail sauce. A pitcher of margaritas was $17ish and was much too sweet for me. Tamales come smothered in a tomato/meat sauce.. Terrible. I'm not even sure what my chile relleno was... But it hardly had any chile pepper (found a 1" piece) in it and had meat (hamburger maybe?) inside and on top. Will not eat here again. The service was great and the food came fast.

I'm from California and I was really craving some Mexican food. I saw the reviews in yelp and decided to give it a try. I wasn't expecting much since this is South Dakota, but this place is terrible. First off, the salsa was straight up some cheap ass jar salsa. I should have just got the check at that point but thought I would at least give the food a chance. My girlfriend ordered the two taco plate and I got a burrito. When our food arrived it looked terrible. The tacos were on store bought shells and consisted of mostly lettuce. The meat was discussing. As for the burrito, well it was also terrible. The biggest disappointment was that there were Mexicans making the food. You people should be ashamed of yourselves. If you like gross food, eat here. Otherwise just make yourself some tacos at home. Even if you suck at cooking, you probably could do a better job. I only put one star because it wouldn't let me leave it with no stars. Terrible.

Excellent service & good food :) yankton has pretty limited options but this was definitely a good choice. Don't be fooled by the exterior it's actually really cute and modern decor inside! (Not going to lie I was a little scared to step inside!!)

Great food, great service! Their corn tortillas are out of this world! They have a large menu selection as well. Unbelievable that there is an authentic and yummy Mexican food restaurant in South Dakota, but believe it.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
