As far as Dairy Queens go, this place was top notch. Fast, friendly, and delicious. We ordered our usual: vanilla cone, Reese's Blizzard, and a 4-piece chicken strip basket to share.

Best Philly cheese steak in Yankton and the onion rings are delicious and I'm picky when it comes to onion rings. Yes it's a bar but don't pass on the food I've ate there many times with many different people and we always leave stuffed full and happy. Never had a bad order.

El Tapatio Family Mexican Restaurant

2502 Fox Run Pkwy
Yankton, 57078
Reviews:
Have been he several times and think the food is great. Friendly staff and reasonably priced. I really like their salsa and chicken, very well marinated and flavorful.
I have been going to this restaurant since it opened and I've enjoyed every visit. I've heard mixed reviews on El Tapatio, but I've never ever had an issue with staff or quality of food with the exception of late at night when the guacamole can be old and brown. The first item we always order is the Nachos Tapatio, which is delicious! I will next order a Seafood Burrito, which is also fantastic. The portions are HUGE, and you'll almost never have to wait for a drink refill!
I came here with my husband and his parents (they live about 30 miles from Yankton) on our last vacation. Very very good food! In my town I have 3 excellent Mexican restaurants to compare with, and I'm originally from Southern California, so I didn't expect it to be as good as it was. On this trip through, just last week, we had the Parrilladas, the Cielo, Mar y Tierra variety. (Sky, Sea and Land referring to Cornish hen, shrimp, and skirt steak) It was great. The only thing missing was a variety of sauces and salsa for the meal. We didn't ask though; it was quite good with just the salsa that came with the chips. It's a bit milder on the spice meter than I'm used to but hey this is the farm belt and many folks in that area are not used to hot pepper.

The Landing

Reviews:
What an amazing place. The view of the river is great, but the food and beer selection is incredible. I had the philly cheese steak pizza and a margarita, and the pizza was the best I've had in ages. Gouda on a pizza? Great idea. The bartender was friendly and welcoming. Chatted with the owner for awhile, and it was wonderful to hear stories of South Dakota. I would come back to Yankton just for this place.
The Landing landed my wife and her daughter in the commode. Both my wife and her daughter had the same grilled portobello salads and they both got the trotters. We are on vacation and now they are spending the first day in the bathroom. My hamburger was okay but had a funny taste I could not quite place. Part of the meat was fine but another part seemed "off." My family enjoyed their beers though. Back to Taco John's for us. Won't get sick and we'll leave with money in our pockets.
Delicious lunch. Too hot to sit outside but we got a window seat. Salmon was delicious as was the spinach salad with added shrimp

Muggsy’s Sub Galley

Reviews:
Every time we are in the area we stop here. One of the best steak sandwiches anywhere, the pickle and hot relish really make it unique. The battered fries and onion rings are amazing. Great staff super friendly and welcoming. Stop by once and your hooked...
What an odd, cool place with great subs. I've been there maybe 8 times when I've visited Yankton, and it's a clear favorite. The signature sandwich is a great blend of well cooked and seasoned beef mixed with peppers in fresh bread. The meat is in a mixture that kinda melts the bread with its juice. There's a review that says it's not as good as Subway. Hmmm. Well, it's nothing like Subway. Not in the food, and not in the ambiance. I've had a lot of subs over the years, and they've got something unique here. It's not unique in a you'll-either-love-it-or-hate-it way, as it's not polarizing. It's just not a your typical sub. It's not a typical Philly cheesesteak. It's more like slow cooked beef that gets spooned onto a sub roll. Tasty, and worth checking out. The place has a lot of character. Lyle Alzado football promo photos (turns out he lived in Yankton) and east coast sports stuff, and awards they've won and famous people who've visited. Good natured. Fun. Parking is easy. Very friendly service. Consistent quality for a non-chain. Very highly recommended.
what a great place! Always stop here when i am in Yankton. Far better than any chain like subway or quiznos...just good food every time - really friendly staff too!

Nice warm building a 0 degrees tonight. Since I was by myself I sat at one of the bar tables. Comfortable as such. For some reason the happy hour only covers draft beers. In my opinion if you are going to have a happy hour then have a happy hour. Unfortunately there was only one mediocre IPA from Colorado offered. Everything else was just the run of the mill beer. Nothing special. With all the great micro brews out there it does not take much effort to offer a better selection. One star for beer selection I ordered the Beef Tip Gorgonzola Salad and was very disappointed. The iceberg lettuce mixed with some other greens was just fair, no thought process here. Some of the Lettuce had a funny smell, too close to fish or something. The beef tips were inconsistent some tough some tender. I have included a link to a great salad so easy to make a good one. kitchenelly.com/2011/05/… The bread, what little I received must have come from a grocery store. White and boring. Bottom line is that this restaurant needs to step up its game.
We really enjoyed this place. We ended up staying at the Best Western one night and were starved but didn't really want to go anywhere. So, we walked about 400 ft and were at MINERVA'S! We came just before closing and were kindly accomodated. Seated in a booth in the bar section, we joined about three other tables. The decor was very nice and the service was fast and friendly. They had some sweet happy hour specials going on. I ordered a plate of nachos for 5 dollars and my husband ordered a ton of wings for around 8 dollars. The food was pretty good. Not amazing, but far from bad. Overall, I'd recommend this place. We'd come here again if were were in town.
Really good food, beer selection is really good. Draft beer from Cali, PA, pretty impressive. TV set up for the bar is stupid as hell. you would think with a nice bar and how expensive everything is they could do something there. Wifi is crap which isnt a big deal. Service is really good, very nice place. I dont eat here very often when I stay in Yankton even though its right in the hotel I always stay at just because the dinners are so pricey. Burgers and sammys are decent priced though

Friendly service and the food came out quickly. Their cinnamon French toast special is awesome and their breakfast sandwich ("The Bopper") is really good too. Cute restaurant and I enjoyed it more than Fryn Pan across the street. This one has more of a fresh taste. I will be back.
Poor service, waited over 30 minutes after ordering, eventually left without receiving our food. Restaurant was barely half full. Staff look unprofessional and disorganized. We will not be returning.
Love love love Yesterdays Cafe! Yesterdays has a great menu with lots of choices. The workers here are friendly and actually interact with you beyond the normal "hi, how are you?" Walking through the main doors brings you into a hopping and happy atmosphere. The first thing you see is a bright red 57' Chevy Belaire that is actually the cash register! They have another 57' Chevy that you can sit and eat in too! Perfect place to bring the whole family or even just alone to enjoy a great cup o' joe and do some reading during cake and coffee hour.

The best place for Mexican in Yankton. It's more affordable than El Tapitio (the other Mexican place in town) and usually tastes much better. My husband and I eat here pretty regularly, it's our "go-to" place in town. If you can get past the sloppy decor and ceiling tiles - you're going to have a tasty meal for a decent price. It's definitely a small town place, don't expect amazing Tex-Mex or authentic Mexican food. One thing to definitely try is their chorizo-cheeze dip. It's delicious (wish I weren't a Vegetarian now if only for this appetizer.) I usually get the shrimp quesadilla (#77 on the menu) and it's always delicious.
This is literally the worst Mexican food I've ever eaten without having gone through a drive-thru. It is as if someone's farm-wife grandmother decided to make Mexican food, never having had actual Mexican food. The place is dirty and broken. The salsa doesn't taste like anything but tomatoes. If you're a fan of actual Mexican food, go to El Tapatio. If you like fake, crappy Mexican save yourself some time and money and go to Taco Bell or Taco John's.
Worst Mexican food I've eaten. The salsa was terrible. Not sure why, but it tasted like cocktail sauce. A pitcher of margaritas was $17ish and was much too sweet for me. Tamales come smothered in a tomato/meat sauce.. Terrible. I'm not even sure what my chile relleno was... But it hardly had any chile pepper (found a 1" piece) in it and had meat (hamburger maybe?) inside and on top. Will not eat here again. The service was great and the food came fast.

Charlie’s Pizza House

804 Summit St
Yankton, 57078
Reviews:
People may not realize that Charlie's is the oldest Pizza House in our state. Yup, the kitchen is at the door, and yup, the restrooms are so tiny you can wash your hands while sitting on the commode! However, they have made an effort to preserve it in its original state. Plan on a wait on a busy night, but it's worth the wait. In the meantime, talk to your family... Or make a game out of identifying all of the classic show biz stars in the mural in the back room. The pizza crust is to die for. The specialty pizza names are part of the ambience. The local service is charming and helpful.
Fantastic crust on their pizza. Interesting flavor options. I definitely recommend the John Wayne. VERY expensive for what you get, honestly. Service is decent, though the lady who I assume to be the owner is less than friendly or inviting. Give it a shot. It's generally a good experience and is a Yankton landmark.
This place used to have great pizza.
