Great atmosphere, great food. Eclectic old Opera House with funky art on the walls and great mix of music. Swordfish tacos are awesome, mussels and porquitos are great too.

What a pleasant surprise. We started with a seafood chowder which was excellent . My husband had a grilled swordfish with a cilantro lemon avocado sauce and I had a blackened salmon with a pineapple salsa. Both entrees were excellent and the service was very good.

Super friendly staff!! Another plus - a very good wine selection. I heard from someone there they also have great soups as well. I have been here now for dinner and lunch. The dinner I had was just grilled shrimp. It was good, I didn't order anything special so I cant say it was anything I would go back for because I was craving it. But that was more because of my ordering than the food I think. For lunch I just ordered the crab dip and bread. It was not a typical crab dip, I am more used to ooey gooey, garlicky and creamy. This was more crab with some red peppers and artichokes I believe, a bit dryer than the creamy kind but it was loaded with crab and had cheese baked over the top. It was unique and like I said, loaded with crab meat, lots of crab meat. If you like crab this is the way to go, but typically I am more about the stuff housing the crab than the crab, just because I am a junkie for ooey gooey and creamy. The bread was garlicky and very good as well. I would go back here, but I am not sure I have found my "go to" item on the menu, I am still searching.

Went here for dinner with friends while we were visiting in Watertown. Surprised by the quality of Charley's food - wish I wouldn't have been so full that I didn't try dessert! 1. Service - 2 stars. They were pretty slow, ?understaffed. The waitress didn't know which beers were on tap and my husband ordered 3 before he found one that they had (this was off the menu, they had run out the night before). Our waters got dry pretty easily and it took a long time for them to ask about wine/beer refills - didn't have a glass of wine when my entree came. 2. Food - 4 stars. The mussels Josephine were outstanding. The chislic (it's a big thing in South Dakota - every restaurant has this on the menu) was very overdone. I had the Saturday night special - Prime rib with a portabella mushroom with crab. TONS of crab meat - I do wish there would have been some sort of binder in this as it was a tad dry, and my mushroom was a little underdone. The prime rub was superb and the au jus was amazing. The garlic mashed potatoes were good but I filled up on the other stuff. The frozen veggies on the side could have been left off. My husband had the chicken penne - large portion and he enjoyed it. The rest of my table was very pleased with their meals as well. The wine menu was small but nice - they have a good range of qualities and prices. 3. Decor - 5 stars. I'm a sucker for exposed brick and original hardwood floors. The ambiance is business casual. The artwork on the walls is all original - a little tortured perhaps but at least interesting. This is the same building as the Goss Opera house and I'm told you can tour this - there was an event going on so we weren't able to. For this area -where there aren't a lot of quality non-chain restaurants, this place was awesome. The next day we tried to go to 2 restaurants but both were closed (not sure if this was because it was Sunday but their websites didn't mention that) and ended up at Applebees. I would highly recommend this for a nice dinner when you're in the area.

New owners, same slow service. Food was ok if you like it Luke warm. If it was $12 a plate I would give it an extra star, but at $20 to $30 a plate I was disappointed. Our money is better spent elsewhere.

Stopped in for Sunday brunch and found it to be almost as good as what you would get at chain restaurants. Almost. I was sadly disappointed. Staff was present but slow and inattentive. We waited 15+ minutes with hat and coat on for our check, almost left without it. No condiments on the buffet, not even butter for pancakes. Syrup was a couple of half serving cream servers. I must qualify that this review is for brunch only. We have stopped here other times and had great experiences. I think try do much better on the menu days/nights. Coffee was good. If you sit in the corner near the window by the noisy heater on cold days it blows nice warm air on your feet.

Went here with a group. Great little bar area while we waited for he rest of our party. They have a few decent taps and local beers. Nice, attentive staff. Dinner was really good for what I have had in this area. In the Midwest, I ALWAYS WANT walleye- period. When my boss asked where I wanted to go, I said anywhere with walleye. They had an excellent broiled walleye. Perfectly seasoned and well cooked. Great service, cool atmosphere. It's on the lower floor of an old 1880ish opera house down town. The menu seemed to have something for everyone and everyone was happy with what they got.
