Hands down the best restaurant in Deadwood. This place is delicious, it's a little pricey, but well worth it. The appetizers are wonderful, the wild boar is to die for, absolutely delicious! We stayed in Deadwood recently on a vacation, and we ate at many different places, this place was so delicious, we ate here three times during our four day stay! The upstairs patio has lovely views, it's a great space, if you can get a spot. They have a good beer selection and a few delicious cocktails. The service is great, all smiles and great suggestions. We were also looking for a few things to do in the area, sight seeing and whatnot, got some more wonderful suggestions from our waiter. Even if you come by for a 4 o'clock round of appetizers and cocktails, this place is perfect. You can't go wrong at Deadwood Social Club and you definitely will remember your meal. It's been two months, and I still dream about that shrimp and scallop dish with a crispy noodle cage and delicious cream sauce. I will be back Deadwood, South Dakota. If not for your wonderful views, but your delicious shrimp and scallop pasta.

Not quite what I expected! It's a fairly ordinary Italian restaurant perched on top of a really cool bar below. The service was good, and the prices aren't bad considering its on the Main Street of a tourist town. If you're in the mood for Italian, it's worth a look. If you're looking for something that fits in better with the old west town vibe, I would look elsewhere.

From Dallas and ate here for lunch was initially disappointed the lunch menu was not as extensive as the dinner menu, but after wonderful osobucco app and medium rare buffalo burger with the best homemade blue cheese+ kids meals they actually ate and inexpensive drinks that was a great value we were glad we tried it. We drove back an hour from rapid city to try the dinner menu. It was well worth the drive! There were several tempting entrees, pheasant, lamb, seafood nest, Italian dishes, and of course the steaks. We started with the shrimp and sausage over spinach. Beef and wild mushroom risotto was more like a steak over risotto. Misha recommended the ribeye with the bacon and blue cheese and it was one of the best I ever ate. Perfectly medium rare and the flavors were amazing. Smokey, beef, luscious and creamy cheese all at once. Did I mention she subbed vegetables for the potato at no charge? A great meal and then when you consider the value to quality it was amazing. Deserts looked great but two wonderful meals left no room. As we stepped out of the restaurant the gunfight reenactment erupted in the street. What a wonderful time in deadwood.

We were a group of four and landed here for lunch. My buddies had the Mini osso busco as appetizer (braised pork) which they told me was good. The decor of this place was pretty good, two of them had buffalo burger which was pretty good I heard, I had the chicken alfredo which was so - so, other buddy had the wild boar pasta which he said was good too. I guess, I wasn't happy with the food that much, menu had limited options and even there they didn't have lot of items which was on the menu, which was disappointing.

I would say our experience at Deadwood Social Club was awesome we had a great waitress and the food was wonderful... I had the 10oz New York steak and it was made to perfection. I would highly recommend stopping here to eat.

Our server, Jett, was super friendly and accommodating. After a long day of site seeing in the heat we just wanted to relax before heading out to Hullett for the night. The food was really great and the service was without error. My only disappointment was they didn't have the Butter Brickle Cheesecake everyone on Yelp raves about :-(.

My associate and I decided to come to historic Deadwood and take a look around. He is a history buff and wanted to see where Wild Bill was shot. We decided on this restaurant from the other reviews. We were not disappointed! Not only was the food amazing, but it is actually above Saloon #10 where Wild Bill was famously assassinated! This restaurant was formerly a brothel! Well, not only is this place worth stopping for because of the history, but my associate says it was one of the best steaks he has had. And we are both from Texas! Try the cioppino too! It was awesome!

This place is excellent. We had the Shrimp scampi and even the kids' macaroni and cheese dinner ($3.95) was excellent. Fast service with a smile! Historic Deadwood building. So really good food at such reasonable prices. Highly recommend! Note: portions are normal sized so would not repeat our habit of splitting (as required in most places with giant portions), perfect portion for individual ordering. Crazy concept huh?!

Ate here last week while in Deadwood. Service was great and food even better. They have a wonderful unusual menu which includes things like pheasant and wild boar. There were 5 of us and we each ordered something different and all of the entrees were delicious. We also shared a couple of appetizers and they also delicious. The biggest surprise came when we got the bill. 3 drinks, 2 appetizers, 5 entrees and 3 desserts and the bill was under $150. The only complaint was that the waitress forgot to bring our coffee with the desserts but everything else made up for it. Highly suggest this place. It's a good chance to try something different.

I am in town because my dad passed away. Friends of ours took me here twice this week. PHENOMENAL FOOD!!! I come from the Silicon Valley just south of San Francisco, and I have not had anything this good in many, many years - and that is comparing it with fancy, expensive restaurants that my bosses go to! Both nights, we had the stuffed mushrooms (crazy good!), the artichoke Parmesan dip (very smooth, not overly cheesy, and goes on some awesome toasted bread), and for my main course, I got the Vodka Salmon. That salmon was just RIDICULOUS! wow! The most tender but not overcooked pasta, the cream sauce is to die for and not super thick tasting and is light yet hearty, the mushrooms were just right, they don't overdo the sundried tomatoes or overpower the seasoning, and the salmon was the most tender I have ever tasted. My friends had the special, the walleye, the pork osso bucco, they seafood nest (which I had a bite of, yummmmm), the shrimp scampi, all of which was primo. My sister said the blueberry crumble cheesecake was super delicious and the tiramisu was scrumptious. They have a huuuuuuuge selection of drinks as well that my friends enjoyed, but I myself don't drink. By the way, be very hungry when you come, they give you a lot of food and I have taken home leftovers. I hope people will come to this place and can find it (it is above the famous Saloon No. 10) because no one will be disappointed with what they get. I am writing this review in hopes that I can convince out-of-towners to stop by. Did I mention that there are tons and tons of pictures on the wall? You get to walk and look through history while getting a delicious meal. The recipes are all created by the chefs, and you will not see this food anywhere else. The waitresses and staff are also most accommodating. The waitress on Wednesday even took out all the spring mix purple lettuce since I don't like the bitter taste - now THAT'S service! You will not be sorry!

Excellent meal and service. Best bruschetta I've ever tasted. Would highly recommend this restaurant to friends.

A quiet place away from the crowds...fun having to find it upstairs through the bar kind of thing. good food and good service.

We sat on the patio roof and enjoyed fab service and a really tasty lunch! We each had burgers that were amazing and our server, Mike, was quite good. While they didn't offer GF choices per se, they were very accommodating. The new bartender inside even made me her first Sidecar and did a spectacular job! I would definitely recommend this stop!

My family had a really nice dinner here. I recommend it. I had the Walleye and my husband had the Osso bucco. My sisters had the salmon and my brother in-law had the ribeye. Everyone was very happy. Dinners come with a salad or soup. They have a kids menu which is just OK (Kraft Mac-n-cheese and uncrustable PB&J). I wish I would have ordered them a pasta to share instead. They have a lot of wines by the glass and my husband liked his IPA. Great spot!!

The Deadwood Social Club is located up above the #10 Saloon on Main Street. A former co-worker travels to Deadwood about twice a year to play the slot machines, and he highly recommended the Social Club for dinner. I traveled to visit family in Western Montana early in July and on the way back I spent two days in Deadwood. I REALLY like the atmosphere of the bar of the Deadwood Social Club. They have a patio and about six seats higher up on the roof that overlooks Main Street. I was in for lunch and had a Buffalo Burger, and then the next day I was in for dinner and enjoyed the Buffalo Ravioli. In both cases, service was timely and attentive and the food was solidly good but not great. There are a number of other selections on the menu that intrigue me, and I hope to test fire them next year when I come by this way again.

We ate lunch here and while the food was good, service was spotty. We had wine, which was excellent, but the margarita was sub-par and mostly ice. Atmosphere was nice as well as the decor. We sat on the outdoor upstairs patio. Out of the places available in downtown Deadwood, I would recommend this place above others we considered.

  • Zach R.

There isn't a better place around, menu is diverse and everything we ordered was great, cool ambiance great service and even better food from salad and soup to entrees. If you are visiting deadwood and looking for a great place to eat this is a must!

OK, so I went here last October and had one of their hand-cut steaks, and it was one of the best steaks I've ever had--my friend also agreed that his steak was amazing. Not only that, but they were very accommodating, and let me have some roasted squash, that wasn't supposed to come with my dinner. My steak was just amazing. The way it was cut perfectly, and marbled. I could not ask for better.

We dined here for a late lunch on the 4th of July with a party of 8. Seating was prompt and hostess was friendly. Ordered the Philly sandwich, Buffalo burger, hamburger kids meal, popcorn chicken kids meal, 2 side salads with Italian dressing. Side salads came with occasional wilted leaves, a large woody lettuce stem/heart, and French dressing. The Philly was oddly sweet and vinegary...not expected for a cheese steak sandwich. The burger was OK. Kids meals were about what you'd expect, though fruit cups were pre-packaged Dole fruit cocktails, which could be good or bad depending on your point of view. Server was very slow and relatively inattentive for a slower time of day. To be honest, I've eaten better cafeteria food. Mediocre at best and would not visit again.

Best burger I've had in a while. They claim to grind daily and I believe them. Excellent blend with good taste and texture. Good service and good taste made for an excellent lunch. Will be back on the return journey for a repeat it was that good.

Terrific meal. I had the special, a brisket mac and cheese, which was rich and delicious. My daughter had the portabella mushroom burger, whose ingredients complemented themselves perfectly. We both had salads with house 5-pepper dressing, a nice amount of heat, and split a well executed cheesecake. Good beer and wine selection. This place more than made up for poor meals we had the previous day. Service was great, too. Make sure you go if you're in the area.

Hands down the best restaurant in Deadwood. The atmosphere is fun and historic, carrying on the tradition of the Saloon #10 which is located downstairs. In addition it has a wonderful balcony on the roof with a fireplace and views of Main Street. The menu is original and the food is oh so tasty. We eat here all the time and have never been disappointed.

Delicious meal at the Deadwood Social Club! Friendly service, reasonable prices, and great decor all made for a wonderful experience. To start we had the Artichoke Au Gratin which was a great creamy accompaniment to the bread served alongside. Big pieces of artichoke and great flavor from the medley of Parmesan, Asiago and Chevre. With our entrees we got a fire roasted tomato soup which was also nicely creamy and full of flavor. For my entree, I ordered the Smoked Tuaca Pheasant which was a lightly smoked South Dakota pheasant, mushrooms & sun-dried tomatoes in a Tuaca cream sauce over fettuccine. Amazing dish, however slightly on the salty side. I did enjoy the tang of the tomatoes, the richness of the cream and pheasant, the earthiness of the mushrooms and perfectly cooked pasta. Wonderful dish. We were stuffed but brought back some Snickers Cheesecake to go. It was delicious and creamy and some of the best cheesecake I have ever had! Great meal in Deadwood and highly recommended!

Delicious! They were having an Italian theme so we indulged in pasta! Steve - the hubby - had their special - shrimp piccata. Never heard of shrimp w/ lemon and capers before but it worked. Big tail on shrimp not over cooked but nice and crisp over a thin pasta. I had the pasta primavera. Lots of veggies and a very tender chicken on top. The sauce was light but still rich enough to dunk your bread in. Our side salad was too big for the plate but otherwise nice and crisp. Draw back? We were seated near the kitchen - which had very loud swinging doors. Terrific wine choices (it's Deadwood - so terrific is subjective) and great service. Highly recommend!

    (4)
  • Toni M.

Good food, just run of the mill taste. No elevation to the food. Fettucine was oily, ribeye was not even close to being aged beef. Swinging doors in the dining room are obnoxious sounding and the naked ladies picture in the women's bathroom was offensive to my girls. My husband did enjoy his walleye.

Our dinner was amazing! The pheasant and the seafood nest are creamy and rich, very delicious. Definitely recommend!!! Service is great! I find myself still craving the seafood nest! This place is highly recommended!

A nice place to have a well prepared meal and a nice glass of wine. They also split pasta dishes, which was good for my 10 year old and 8 year old who tire of the standard kids menu choices. We tried this restaurant on the recommendation of our hotel, and it was the answer to a long day of driving. Highly recommend!

A couple of comments before the meat...( no pun intended)... Deadwood Social Club is on the 2nd floor above the #10 Saloon and contrary to a previous post, there is an elevator when you walk thru to the back of the saloon. It is NOT an intimate dining setting. Large rooms with a strange flow, combined with old wood floors, makes for a bit of a noisy setting. Now the service and food: Our server was fine. We were seated promptly, drinks taken/served while we finalized our food selection. The Apple with Prosciutto (we had them hold the Bleu Cheese) was very good and served promptly. Our entrees arrived hot and with proper timing after the appetizer was finished. Mediterranean Chicken and Chicken Tortellini were both very good. It was interesting to eat a good Italian meal in a very non-Italian ambience in the middle of a touristy little town like Deadwood. Closing comment: I toyed with a 3 star rating for one simple reason; while not super expensive ($16-25 for an entree), there was a lack of professional restaurant service behavior by most staff members. Sloppy dress; interruption by bus staff while eating courses; 3-4 instances of careless dropping of dishes and other items.....simply made it a bit of a confusing experience. The food and service from our nice young lady saved the day for the 4 stars. We would go back.

  • Matt B.

I really appreciate a decent prepared meal. They have a decent selection of meats and poultry that are mouthwatering. This is a casual environment or formal, but not normally seen unless its a party- But prices range in the $13-25 for an entree. Tonight I am trying the Swordfish for $17.95, plus an added 3 jumbo shrimp for $5.95 additional. Like many meals I have tried before (rib eye, salmon several times) this place has yet to disappoint me!

    (5)
  • Liz S.

You have to go through Saloon Number 10 and ride up on an elevator that has a max capacity of 6 to get here, and it's worth it! Highly recommended for lunch: the fire roasted tomato soup and elk/buffalo burger. Mmmm!

  • Tony E.

Excellent dinner and great service. Restaurant is centrally located, and was bustling with activity - even on a Sunday night off-season. The 12 oz Ribeye was outstanding - cooked to order at medium rare. A super cut of meat seasoned to perfection. My sister's NY Strip was just as good. Dad's Buffalo Ribeye was really good, but a tougher cut of meat. My wife and my mom both had the chicken bruschetta special - and wow, was that great too! Salads (especially Caesar) were small, but very good. I would highly recommend this place, and would definitely come back again. They were warm and accommodating to our four year old daughter, but this there were mostly adult couples. The decor was old fashioned and fun - a little dark, though, which might put some off. Prices are average - but you definitely get a great meal for your money.

Awesome food, great service , wished they had a better sign, had to ask a couple of people before I found the stairs, been to the 10 saloon 9-10 times this was the first time I ate at this hidden gem. Had buffalo/ elk bacon cheeseburger with awesome fries and tiramisu pudding with some Irish coffee was superb.

A little spendy for what you get. Service was good and pretty sweet place to visit. Probably won't be going back. A lot of other places cheaper and more food for the price.

    (3)
  • Nicola L.

Definitely one of the best places to eat at in Deadwood. The lunch menu looked pretty good and affordable, but we went for dinner, which was a much more diverse menu and a but more spendy. We had a larger party, but the wait time was non-existent. The restaurant is on the second floor of the building it is in and the hike up the stairs can be a bit much if you have trouble with that sort of thing, but there is an elevator as well. The décor is interesting and loyal to much of the other establishments in Deadwood (old west). The staff was very attentive and polite. For starters we had an artichoke dip with crusty baguette crisps. The dip was very mushy and bland. It didn't get finished by anyone at our table. Next up was the pita bread bruschetta. The mixture on the bread was classic Italian, but the pita bread was very thick and soft, akin to eating a sponge. Then were the wild boar ragu-bolognaise mixed with smoked gouda, wrapped in pastry dough and flash fried, with a tomato/onion white wine reduction. Skip the sauce/reduction which was very watery and bland, and stick the boar itself. It was quite tasty with only the hint of a gamey taste. The crunch of the fried pastry dough and the cheese really balanced it out. I had a pretty standard Caesar salad with fresh greens, creamy dressing and what I am guessing were store bought croutons. The chicken atop the salad however was very salty and quite dry. For the entrée, a buffalo rib eye steak, on the rare side. Cooked perfectly. Very juicy and not dry at all. If you come here, get this. It is a decent portion of meat, seasoned perfectly. Overall, if you're in Deadwood for a few days, make this place a stop for dinner.

  • Adam G.

Quick service, cheap, and good food. We had the buffalo burgers. It was on the second floor and it would have been easy to walk past on the street and not know it was here. I read the reviews on yelp which guided us here. It's not the most upscale place, but it's nicer than par for the area.

    (5)
  • Jess M.

Great ambiance Friendly staff - were great w/ our 9mo old Decent food I ordered the pheasant pasta dish - it was way too creamy for me and didn't have much flavor. I would not order this again. My husband ordered the rib eye with mashed potatoes - it was very good. We also had the strawberry rhubarb cheesecake, which was delicious :)

  • Jerry G.

Surprisingly a great find on 7/23/14. I say surprisingly because we were expecting either an overpriced tourist joint or a poor food/service tourist type place. Instead a very nice restaurant with roomy floor, good setup, and actually a little classier then expected. Great service from hostess & waitress. Sat us without reservation instantly at 8:30pm, place was busy but not packed. Had porterhouse steak & pork chop meals with all the trimmings. Great portions, reasonably priced, and cold IPA beer. Definitely would come back.

Best steak dinner in the area ! Upstairs from Saloon #10, is the Deadwood Social Club. Outdoor patio for smokers, small bar for drinkers, tables and booths, for diners. I had the Ribeye, $24. This comes with choice of soup, or salad. I chose the salad, with homemade blu-cheese dressing, also choice of potato, I had mashed. Served with, sauteed veggie. Wife had Elk meatballs with gnocchi and marinara sauce. Meh, so-so, ... packaged gnocchi, sauce did not seem to go with meatballs. Major downfall,...... bartender over-served a patron at the bar. He was allowed to fall off his stool, at the bar, then was allowed to keep his drink. Friend tried to walk him to the elevator. He fell down again, hitting his head very hard on the floor ! Good thing it was just me watching this........ Really ? I would sue them 30 ways from Sunday, had I been involved !

  • John S.

Excellent food and service. The only drawback was the number of stairs one must climb to get up to the restaurant but the food was definitely worth it. I had the shrimp scampi and it was very delicious with large shrimp with angel hair pasta. The dish was perfectly cooked with fresh herbs and all.

  • Sam B.

I had the lunch special which was a chicken sandwich. It was tasty. However, I don't recommend the salad. The lettuce was wilted and brown. Not happy about that. It also took us 10 minutes to get seated. Not because of a crowd, but because no one was there. I had to call the phone there to get someone out of the back to seat us.

After a stint in Rapid City, my travels come up to Deadwood, South Dakota. A friend of mine heard about this place and raved about the filet minion and I was very much interested. The Deadwood Social Club is what you may consider a hole in the wall, even though it's on the main drag of Deadwood. You probably could drive pass it and not really notice at all. But then again, I was with friends and this place was good although expensive. The wait was long and the atmosphere was nice, but louder than normal. During the meal, we were "treated" to the gun fighting show that was held outside on the street. When I heard the loud popping, I thought it was someone banging on the wall or something. I realized later what it was. The Deadwood Social Club is quite popular and I knew why. I eventually got the ribeye and ordered it medium rare and with garlic mashed potatoes. My friend was right. It was delicious and very juicy. Maybe I should have gotten it rare and see how much more tender it is. The prices here are above average, but it is South Dakota, after all. A tourist town with more than it's share of casinos! My friend got the filet minon and she loved it. Her husband got the salmond special and he thought it was a bit dry, but delicious, nonetheless. I saw the wine list and it was extensive. it was a binder full of reds, chardinaays, whites, and everything in between. I settled on a typical corona. No muss, and its simple. I would really recommend this place, since it was above average, but not jaw dropping awesome. The service was great and it was nice to have dinner with friends to kick off the weekend here in Deadwood. The only problem with this place was the flight of stairs that we had to walk up. The Holiday Inn Express is next door. Check em out! B+

We waited a while before we saw our server, he was very apologetic. We then waited a while for our salad and bread, the kids were getting antsy. We finished our salad and bread and asked about our meals, which seemed to be very late. I liked my daughter''s tortellini far better than my dish (something like a ravioli). The whole experience was fair.

  • Stephanie C.

Honestly, this was one of the most unexpectedly amazing meals I've ever had. Given that it is located above Saloon #10, my initial expectations were for an average meal at best. However, I could tell that everything I ate was prepared with care - the flavors were superb, from the wild boar appetizers, bean with bacon soup, and main course of maple chicken, roasted vegetables with wild rice. These "simple" dishes were far from ordinary, and I was so surprised and pleased with the experience. You can't beat the price, either, I only wish I could have eaten more! Go there & eat well. You won't regret it.

  • Dan S.

We ate here twice over two days in Deadwood. We ate lunch and dinner at this restaurant. We ordered the pork mac & cheese and a steak sandwich for lunch. For dinner, we ordered the 18 oz Ribeye special, seafood saute, and fresh stuffed ravioli. All of the food was extremely well put together. As for beverages, the wine flights were a real treat. If you go to Deadwood, don't miss this place! Just make sure to get a seat with your back to the wall.

We really enjoyed our dinner at DSC tonight. Nothing else was open and we were directed there. Low and behold, while the rest of the town was dead, this place was busy. We were seated immediately and promptly waited on. Server was great and food was fantastic. We had duck wing appetizer that was superb and the main courses were as wonderful.

Note.. there is no outdoor seating between Memorial Day to Labor Day only. Can't sit outside due to fewer staff members!

I really liked the food, but the proportions were half. For $17 they brought us lunch-sized plates of pasta for dinner. We ended up ordering another set. Because of this, the bill ended up being $74 for two people. And we only had one drink between us. So, pretty yummy food, but rip off prices/proportions.

  • Laura S.

My husband and I had a great meal here. We had the bruschetta as an appetizer. I had the shrimp scampi and my husband had the salmon. The portions were a good size and were very reasonably priced. The seafood was very fresh. I highly recommend eating here.

  • Joan J.

Visited this restaurant twice during our stay in Deadwood. Totally enjoyed the wild boar appetizer both times. I had the salmon puttanesca first time and the wild boar with capellini the second time. Both were very tasty dishes. The salad that came with the meal was a mix of leafy greens and other vegetables, not your typical iceberg lettuce salad at all. The service was also excellent both times. It's popular so you may have a wait but there's at least two bar areas where you can hang out while waiting. This restaurant is above the No. 10 Saloon on Main Street, right in the middle of everything. You can also see a reenactment of Wild Bill's assassination at No. 10 Saloon.

Most likely the only place in town where you'll be able to get some palatable vegetarian food not in a buffet. The ambiance is not to be missed--old whore house!!

The Deadwood Social Club is the best place to eat in Deadwood. I highly recommend the 22oz Pork Shank. My meal was cooked to absolute perfection. Couldn't have ask for a meal of this quality at the price it was offered. Love this place. If I find myself in Deadwood again I will be sure to revisit the Deadwood Social Club.

I don't know what restaurant some of these reviewers ate at but my experience bore no resemblance to what I read before eating there. My party of eight mostly order burgers and all of them were overlooked and served on burnt buns. The one saving grace to our meal was the fries, which were good but it is sad when that is the best thing you have to say about a meal.

  • Jena K.

This place is amazing and a must go to if you are in the area. My husband and I were passing through here on a road trip and stopped at the Deadwood Social Club for a late dinner. Being in a touristy place above a bar we weren't sure what to expect and we were pleasantly surprised and blown away with their food. Everything was seasoned wonderful and many of their dishes are made in house. I had the chicken which was nice and moist and my husband enjoyed one of their delicious pasta dishes. We had the amazing flat bread for an appetizer and munched on their homemade bread till our dinner arrived. All of their entrees comes with either soup or salad. Most of their dressings are also made in house. We were also impressed with the pricing. Very affordable for the quality of food you are getting. They had a huge list of homemade desserts which were very tempting but sadly we were full from our meals. Our server was very attentive and the atmosphere was nice. My only disappointment is the restaurant is over 2,000 miles away and we aren't able to go here again. If we had been staying a second night I can guarantee we would have eaten here again. This place is a hidden gem and a must visit if you are in the area.

Passed through Deadwood and decided to stop here for lunch. The food, service and atmosphere are great. I recommend the buffalo chicken salad, it was delicious! The restaurant is also very accommodating to food allergies.

We had the 12 oz ribeye and it was outstanding as was the service. My only complaint is that my daughter got the fettuccini and the portion was very small for the price we paid. The steaks were out of this world and cooked perfectly. Had the portion size for my daughters meal was larger this would have been a 5 star review.

Nice surprise in downtown Deadwood. In a place full of casinos and saloons it was great to find a place to escape and enjoy a tasty dinner. I went with a large group on a Tuesday night, post peak-season. Getting seated was pretty easy and quick. We started with a shrimp and sausage app as well as toasted bread with artichoke dip, both were tasty and gone way too fast. The wine list is extensive and we enjoyed several bottles throughout the evening. The group ordered a variety of entrees and I was lucky enough to try several. My Pork Osso Buco was perfectly cooked, still moist and tender and had fantastic flavor. I also enjoyed the Buffalo Ravioli, prepared simply and not over-sauced. The winner for the night was the Lamb dish. Service could have been a little friendlier and timelier, but that's easily overlooked with great food.

We had dinner twice at the Social Club during our stay in Deadwood . This is against my personal code while traveling because there is usually so much to try but the group I was with had some "unfinished" business with the menu. This place has an extensive Italian menu and my entrees, the Ribeye with Florentine butter and Mussels with Sausage were prepared with care and tasty. The other food I sampled was ever better, Tuaca Pheasant & Wild Boar Ragu with Gnocchi were highlights. The food is great and that's why I gave 4 stars. The area where this restaurant could improve is service. Servers friendliness and attitude were spotty. I think a visible management presence setting the right tone would do wonders...

Pretty fun atmosphere, however a kid at the table next to us puked ALL over the place and the staff waited a long time to clean it up. The food was good, but not really a good value. I had a good time but i probably wouldn't go back.

Food was excellent. A real surprise for South Dakota Menu was unique the salmon was perfect. I had wild boar over gnocchi and it was delicious. The desserts were wonderful and home made and well presented. The salads were average but the dressing was out of this world and I was told it was also made in house. The only negative was the service was lacking and the decor needed sprucing up. If the service would improve this could be one of the best places in the state.

I have lived in Deadwood for several months now and The Social Club definitely has the best food/value in the downtown strip. The wine list is very good. The Buffalo chicken salad on the lunch menu is cheap, delicious, and they have let me order it for dinner as well. The atmosphere has that old west, speakeasy feel to it and the rooftop deck is super cool. When the tourists ask, I always recommend this as the best place to eat in town.

Brown butter buffalo ravioli, anyone? Made-from-scratch salad dressings? Extensive wine list? (Like, seriously extensive.) The atmosphere is a little dark - dark wood booths, sepia photographs on the walls of "old" Deadwood, but the server was knowledgable and the food, delicious. Not all salad dressings are made in-house. Long list of cheesecake flavors to try. Good sized menu with a variety of options. $50 bought two entrees (each with soup or salad) and a wine flight. Upstairs from Salon #10 - there is an elevator if needed, though I couldn't tell you where to find that.

Restaurants aren't exactly prevalent in Deadwood, far outnumbered by Saloons, Hot Topic-esque gift stores, and gambling. The Native American/biker/outdoors-man symbiosis is a sight in itself. We found this place on a Yelp most reviews search. The only contender was three dollar signs and appeared to not be open for lunch. We passed the "club" twice while driving before realizing that the Social Club is more or less the upstairs of a louder and more prominent saloon, complete with a sawdust floor and Wild Bill shootout reenactments. Eventually we overcame that distraction and made it to the upstairs of what appears to be a 19th century building. There are dark wood tables, floor, and bar, and the lighting is relatively dim at midday. Sepia-toned photographs adorn the walls as if to reinforce the fact that it really is that old. The menu is what might be called American old with a pretty significant Italian influence. Unfortunately, they didn't have much particular to South Dakota. I had bruschetta, a standard dinner salad, and a pork roast sandwich, which were all perfectly satisfactory. Towards the end of our meal and into the afternoon, a wine crowd began to arrive, so that might be worth checking out.

I want to complement the wonderful evening I had there with my boyfriend on Sunday the 18th. He and I, being tourist from Indiana, had no idea were to eat in Deadwood. I am a vegetarian and we had looked up places to eat, hopped around from place to place to look at the menus, and had finally decided on The Deadwood Social Club due to the soup special in the window menu, the creamy tomato soup. We had looked up 4 places that were all no gos before this one. We came in to eat reluctantly. As soon as we entered the establishment, we loved the feel of the place... the atmosphere was fantastic, and we knew that we had come to the right conclusion. On top of that, our service was fantastic. Dondee was so attentive with out being over whelming, she was informative on the menu and honest. I ordered the house salad with the HOMEMADE five pepper balsamic dressing (sooo good), the soup of the day, and the portabella mushroom appetizer as my entrée (the goat cheese was the money winner on that dish). I do have to say everything I saw come out of that kitchen looked fantastic. All in all, if I am ever in Deadwood again... I will love to come back to this place, or if I know people coming threw I will tell them this should be their first stop for a fine meal, without hesitation. So good, I give this place a ten out of ten and our service, above and beyond, a 12 out of 10. I was not sure I would find such a great dining experience in such a small interesting town.

Deadwood has plenty of bars and other restaurants to eat at, and you can also get food at many of the mini-casinos. However, what drew us here was the roof deck (seemed to be one of only a couple outdoor seating options in town). We walked up the stairs into the historic looking building, which is kept in turn-of-the-century decor, and greeted the host where we managed to get a spot on the deck. Hopefully you can get a seat close to the edge, otherwise the view is simply of the roof of the building across the street. Food = a solid 3 out of 5. Definitely slightly above average, and you can get some pretty interesting options, such as bison pasta and some different pork cuts than usual. We got the artichoke au gratin appetizer ($7, really good, not too cheesy), pasta primavera ($13), and 3 pork carbonara ($18). Drinks = 5 out of 5. Other people weren't lying about the extensive wine list. It's a book. We didn't partake in the wine, but they definitely had some good choices, such as South Dakota wines. Bud lights were $4. Atmosphere = 3 out of 5 outside, 4 out of 5 inside. Not much going on outside unless you sit near the edge. Inside is classic men's club or old social club decor/atmosphere. Staff = 2 out of 5. Not the most professional, and unfortunately, they were the first people I've met in my 7 days in South Dakota that didn't have a smile on their face. But definitely attentive and got the job done. Overall, go here for the outdoor deck. Otherwise, I'm sure you can find another historic place in town, with possibly better prices.

Pleasantly surprised. Walk up a long flight of stairs from just a door at street level to find a large, rambling restaurant. First non smoking establishment I have found in the whole Blackhills area. Service was adequate. Bread was tasteless although we were told it was made fresh each morning. We did like the butter. Salad was fresh and the homemade blue cheese dressing was good. I had the smoked pheasant in fettuccine with sundried tomatoes and mushrooms in a cream sauce. A very good dish. By the time we left about 730 on a Wednesday night they had a really good crowd. Don't let the facade fool you. Worth checking out.

Stopped here while on a motorcycle trip through the Black Hills. After so many salads of just iceberg lettuce, this place was a treat for lunch. Their veggie burger was wonderful, their salads good, the service friendly. One of the best lunches we had on a 12-day trip. Would definitely go back!

We lucked out and got a table on the rooftop deck -- not sure if I'd want to sit inside in the gloom. The server had too many tables but was friendly and attentive. The food was good, especially the house 5 pepper salad dressing.

There weren't too many choices on a Sunday night so we ended up here. The food was so-so (actually it got progressively better). The salad was wilty and some of it was more brown than green. But the american "kobe" ribeye and the kurabota pork were pretty good (although quite fatty). The best part - the wine selection. Huge and also had some very affordable bottles ($20!) for a shiraz that wasn't half bad!

Best steak I have had in South Dakota. I ate at the bar and the bartender could not have been friendlier or accommodating. Food was quick and perfectly cooked.

The atmosphere has been pretty well described so I will go straight to the food. My wife had the kurabota pork and I had the Filet. Both ere quite good, the pork was juicy with a nice sauce. The filet came on a bed of bacon, was cooked as I ordered it, and was tasty. The portions of both entries were large. Someone said they were expensive. I have eaten at places way more expensive with food that was of the same quality but with a lot smaller portions. I would consider them moderately expensive.

Yikes...I can't remember the last time I've seen service this unpolished. It was insane. The server knew little to nothing about the menu-- no idea on the "soup of the day" and had no ability to hide this fact. I was expecting somewhere touristy like Deadwood with its gaming industry to be a few notches above the rest of what you'll find in the Black Hills- but this place didn't give you that impression at all. As we were seated, we overheard some situation going on at an adjacent table where an order had been lost in the kitchen. Food was OK. Had a BLT with semi-burned bacon. It was cheap, but the burnt element combined with the melba toast (?) bread made the sandwich a loser.

Great food! I had the chicken tortellini and my husband had the pheasant pasta. Both dishes were the bomb-diggity. Awesome! Would have missed this place if not for Yelp, as it has a low key, easy to miss store front. It is actually located on the second floor, above the No. 10 Saloon. Extensive wine list for those that are wine junkies...

Great place to have dinner or lunch. Walk through the No.10 and take the elevator up in the back. Have a drink on the outdoor deck and look out over the main street.

Came here for dinner on a week night. Small amount of dinner choices but the pheasant pasta dish with a cream sauce and sundried tomatoes was great! My dish got passed across the table to be tried by everyone. They have roof top seating and a full bar. You can hear the street music from those seats and it was lovely.

My husband and I just dined here and the food and service was excellent. Our server Josh was the best we have seen in a long time. I highly recommend this place. If and when we are in Deadwood again, we would definitely go back. We are fans!!

Deadwood is not much more than a 2nd class tourist town. Nevertheless, we were staying in the middle of the town, and at the suggestion of the hotel went here on the strength of the wine list. The restaurant does several salad dressings from scratch. The blue cheese was great. The loss of one star is due to the slightly less than crisp salad. My ribeye was perfect, as were the sides. The in-house made Kaluaha/vodka cheesecake was wonderful. Our server was knowledgable and very good. We ate on the UPPER level of the outdoor section on a nice evening, adding to the experience. This has to be as good as anything you can find in Deadwood.

We had a party of twelve, and were virtually their only customers. We waited over an hour for our food, and the (medium) steak sandwiches that were ordered came out well-done. Then, we all ordered cheesecake, and it took over a half hour to have that served to us. Not that great of a place.

On August 9, 2011 we had a pleasant dinning experience while in Deadwood, SD. We had a awesome dinner consisting of Smoked Tuaca Pheasant in a cream sauce over fettuccine, a nice salad with a "Fire Roasted" Tomato soup that could not have been any better. The staff was very friendly and a great atmosphere to boot. Next time were in town, I'll be back!

This place was down right yucky! Its located on the second floor above Saloon #10. I had a bad feeling upon entering the dirty, dingy stairs that lead to the restaurant. They serve by far the worst bread ever - zero taste. I had the NY Strip it was very tiny and tasteless. I was apalled to watch the bartender mix drinks behind the bar with a baby on her hip! Stay away

I really liked this place! Would have really preferred to eat outside but they only offer that during the summer months. We had the Mediterranean Flatbread for an appetizer and the California Dreamin' red wine flight. Main course for my boyfriend was the buffalo ravioli and I had the ricotta/mushroom ravioli (it had a special name but I can't remember it). We ate and drank until we could eat and drink no more. Large portions and the price was very reasonable! I'd go here again in a heartbeat.

Went here with my husband and three boys. Service was pretty good. My husband liked the pheasant pasta, but I thought it was kind of sweet. I liked my fillet; it was cooked with peppered bacon. Skip the side of mushrooms unless you like them smothered with cheese and other stuff. The infamous tomato bisque was good, but very creamy and buttery and rich. Everything on my plate seemed to be swimming in butter. Don't get me wrong... I love butter! I just felt like butter was used almost like a crutch here. The kid menu was pretty lame, but cheap. I expected my kids to be able to get decent food, but it was popcorn chicken and Kraft Mac-n-Cheese. The cheesecake was unique and delicious! Ugh, I ate way too much!!! It is probably one of the top two restaurants in Deadwood, so give it a try.

We tried the tourist buffets and found them to be awful. Found the social club and were thoroughly impressed. Food was delicious and presentation was superb. Waitress, Heidi, was awesome - friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.

If I were rating on the food / wine alone this would get 5 stars, it was just so dang HOT in the restaurant and I don't like to be hot. Who knew - in Deadwood, SD that you could find a restaurant that is this good. The bread at the beginning was dry and I had a bad feeling but when the appetizer (shrimp and sausage) and the salad and food arrived I was vey happy. My husband had a pasta which he liked a lot and I had the Pork Osso Buco - honestly it may have been the best pork I have ever had in my life. The meat fell right off of the bone and the vegetables were crunchy and delicious. I was stuffed after we left but I wanted to go right back in and have the exact same thing again, except the dry bread. The wine list was surprisingly big and we had a wonderful Napa Zinfandel. The waitress was very nice and other than the fact that I was boiling, I would go back here over and over again! LOVED IT!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
