My husband and I spent the night here with his father, sister and her husband and children, who had just come from Norway to visit. It was very lovely, cozy and charming. The meadows are breathtaking and the bedrooms are all different. We had a honeymoon room, not sure what it's called exactly. It was so peaceful and comfortable. It's a paradise. We got to listen to the whispering pines at night, which sounds like a river, and we watched the deer. So romantic. If you're looking for a place to write a book or just enjoy nature and simplicity or you want to spend quality time with your spouse, go here and you won't regret it. This place is simple but luxury. Oh! And the owners are great! Whoopi Goldberg stayed here once, I believe.

Yes yes yes. If you have never been to the elusive Midwestern favorite, try Taco John's. It is definitely a different breed of tex-mex, but it is tasty interesting. No health food here, just fattening greasy lardy artery-clogging goodness. Fast food, so its service expectations follow what you might think about fast food. They also have breakfast burritos sure to cure any hangover caused by a night of carousal in Deadwood. General favorites are the meat and potato burrito, grilled stuffed tacos, and at Christmas the Nachos Navidad, which when I was a kid was a special menu item that (somewhat ironically) donated a portion of its proceeds to the American Diabetes Association. If you ever see one, it's pretty unique and you should try it. Put it on your culinary bucket list!

Really good pizza located inside a casino. You can eat there, or take it to go, which we did take a pizza back to our hotel room. A medium pizza- 2 topping is $14, a large-2 topping is $16, additional toppings are $1. This pizza is good! We ordered a large pepperoni with mushrooms and pineapple. Lots of cheese and toppings on the pizza. Great pizza in the heart of Deadwood!

Place has the tightest payout in Deadwood. You want to play and have your money last go play anywhere downtown on Main. I have been coming to Deadwood for years and have been to all of the casinos several times over... Save yourself the headache
The entire staff here was amazing. We were running late the day we checked in and got a courtesy call prior to our arrival. They were even kind enough to open the gift shop for us early so we could get some items we didn't have for our son. Had dinner at the restaurant and the staff and food were excellent. Room was great, clean and very comfortable. The pool was excellent and very kid friendly. Highly recommend this place for the experience and overall value.
We love this hotel. Staff is wonderful the food is awesome the drinks are good and the pool is so kid friendly it's borderline ridiculous! We have been going here for years and have never had a bad experience!

First - if you are booking via tripadvisor - beware. The operator for our booking promised things that were completely untrue. This hotel - unless you are a super walker is not w/in walking distance of the main strip. If you ask for the room that backs to the creek and they say "OH Yes - we can definitely do that" don't believe them. This is a great spot. Clean rooms, comfy beds and a very quaint casino - BUT - it is at the dead end (no pun intended) of the city limits - or casino limits. Definitely not walkable - especially if you plan on partaking of some adult beverages. There is a trolley that stops by and takes you to the main strip. We were able to check in early but our promised "creekside room" was an outside access room facing the parking lot. Thankfully they weren't fully booked and they were able to move us to a creekside room - which is wonderful! Listening to the babbling creek as I write this review. Free breakfast was very good. Staff is pleasant and accommodating. Highly recommend Deadwood Gulch!
Fair fare. Nothing fancy but better than any chain. The staff was nice, prices ok and the place was clean. They need to add a "wow" item to the menu. They are in Deadwood, play up the old west and cowboy theme! Dazzle the tourists who drove way out there with something different.
My boyfriend and I stayed here last week. We both were pleasantly surprised. Rooms are nice and clean with comfortable beds. The air conditioner in the room worked perfect. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The best continental breakfast I've never had at a hotel. The little restaurant connected to the hotel is wonderful with a back patio that has a view of the babbling Creek! If you ever go to Deadwood again this would be the place to stay.

Bullock Hotel

Reviews:
I stayed at the Bullock Hotel around October of 2014, but I never left a review. I'm doing it now because my stay was memorable. The hotel stay was clean and pleasant, perhaps a bit on the simple side (but that's why I was there!) The gaming downstairs I didn't take much advantage of, but it was fun. For breakfast though, they serve a mean Bloody Mary at Bully's. Seriously, it's the best Bloody Mary I've ever had. If you need to sleep, play some games, and then drink off that hangover with an amazing Bloody Mary... The Bullock is a godsend. I'd stay there again the next time I'm through the Black Hills.
I genuinely like the Bullock. I've only ever stayed here when in town. I'll admit part of my fondness for the place stems from my fascination with Seth himself, but that aside there's plenty to like about the hotel. I also feel like the inside is a lot nicer than the outside would lead one to believe. What I like: it's smack in the middle of things in Deadwood. Step outside and you're on Main Street in the middle of just about everything there is to do in town. I like that it is clean and well maintained (though the rooms could use a regular dusting.) The rooms are big and I enjoy the historic look and feel of the place. Parking it pretty close. The casino is quiet. What I don't like: it smells a little old -- not like historic old but more like grandma's closet old. Also the food is about on par with Deadwood's standards, and if you've been to Deadwood you know the bar is pretty low in terms of dining. I still haven't seen Seth's ghost, but I keep hoping.
This hotel is a historic hotel and exudes that Old West charm. High ceilings, dark decor, many wood trimmings made it a night spent in the past. The breakfast in the hotel restaurant was not complimentary, but it was tasty enough and the wait staff was friendly and efficient. If you want an old West experience, give it a try!

Hands down the best restaurant in Deadwood. This place is delicious, it's a little pricey, but well worth it. The appetizers are wonderful, the wild boar is to die for, absolutely delicious! We stayed in Deadwood recently on a vacation, and we ate at many different places, this place was so delicious, we ate here three times during our four day stay! The upstairs patio has lovely views, it's a great space, if you can get a spot. They have a good beer selection and a few delicious cocktails. The service is great, all smiles and great suggestions. We were also looking for a few things to do in the area, sight seeing and whatnot, got some more wonderful suggestions from our waiter. Even if you come by for a 4 o'clock round of appetizers and cocktails, this place is perfect. You can't go wrong at Deadwood Social Club and you definitely will remember your meal. It's been two months, and I still dream about that shrimp and scallop dish with a crispy noodle cage and delicious cream sauce. I will be back Deadwood, South Dakota. If not for your wonderful views, but your delicious shrimp and scallop pasta.
Not quite what I expected! It's a fairly ordinary Italian restaurant perched on top of a really cool bar below. The service was good, and the prices aren't bad considering its on the Main Street of a tourist town. If you're in the mood for Italian, it's worth a look. If you're looking for something that fits in better with the old west town vibe, I would look elsewhere.
From Dallas and ate here for lunch was initially disappointed the lunch menu was not as extensive as the dinner menu, but after wonderful osobucco app and medium rare buffalo burger with the best homemade blue cheese+ kids meals they actually ate and inexpensive drinks that was a great value we were glad we tried it. We drove back an hour from rapid city to try the dinner menu. It was well worth the drive! There were several tempting entrees, pheasant, lamb, seafood nest, Italian dishes, and of course the steaks. We started with the shrimp and sausage over spinach. Beef and wild mushroom risotto was more like a steak over risotto. Misha recommended the ribeye with the bacon and blue cheese and it was one of the best I ever ate. Perfectly medium rare and the flavors were amazing. Smokey, beef, luscious and creamy cheese all at once. Did I mention she subbed vegetables for the potato at no charge? A great meal and then when you consider the value to quality it was amazing. Deserts looked great but two wonderful meals left no room. As we stepped out of the restaurant the gunfight reenactment erupted in the street. What a wonderful time in deadwood.

This was a great stay such a cool place. Love it hope to be back.
Beautiful hotel and staff was very nice. Jerry was our bellman. Very nice to talk to. We loved the soft closing doors to the rooms and stairwells. Casino needs more pizazz, bling and lights. Went to Santana's Sports Bar and Grill. This was a huge disappointment on both food and staff. We had breakfast at the restaurant. Great service and good food and prices.
Saw the Bellamy Brothers. We paid top dollar for tickets. Our seats were faaaar left of the stage (facing). Section C, row C, seats 13,15,17,19. We had to turn our heads so much to see the guys, we ended up getting sore. Two of the group walked out early. Yes, we paid the same as the two sections IN FRONT of the stage. That's cheating.... us! Sound!? Lousy sound system. Our whole group couldn't hear the words clearly. It's unbelievable this hotel even offers such a poor venue for the artists who book here. The whole experience felt ridiculously cheap. SMH

Definitely a must for the Kevin Costner fan! This small, but beautifully decorated casino, sports bar and fine dining establishment is worth a visit. Gamble a little and wonder upstairs to the sports bar to see Costner ' s movie costumes and set photos. I forgot how many films he has made over the years. Bar staff is friendly and helpful. Beers are cheap. We did not eat here but the food coming out looked good. The sports bar menu had a nice variety. Jake's is the dining room on the 3rd floor, bit was not open in the afternoon when we visited.
Poor service..you pay two dollars extra for lettuce and tomatoe on a already overpriced hamburger. $8.00 for a hot dog....50 cents each onion and tomatoes...75 cents for extra sourkraut...save your money...just walk through the restaurant and look at the memorabilia
If you're a movie buff or Kevin Costner fan or just need to waste some time, stop in to the Midnight Star casino. It's packed full of owner Kevin Costner memorabilia. I didn't eat or gamble here, so I can't attest to that, but it's a neat little place to see. I asked one of the women working there if she had met Costner yet, but she said he hadn't been around for several years. His parents live in Rapid City and visit often.
