My car broke down at 10pm on Good Friday, I was luck enough to make it to the parking lot. Ms. Karen and my server Joy went out of their way to help me and thanks to them I was not stuck there overnight! Joy suggested a Cesar salad with chicken, which was good, and strawberry pie for desert, which was also good.

As one other reviewer says, you get a lot for what you pay for - I got a fried steak entree, and it came with an entire salad, soup, and fruit bar. However, the entree I got, together with chicken skillet dishes that others in my party had, was SO salty. I felt stomach discomfort afterwards, probably partly because of all the salt. We told the waitress about the saltiness and she was nice enough to offer us free ice cream (or at least that's how I interpreted the turn of events),

I ended up here for work travel and I couldn't find anything else to eat so I ventured in. The buffet here doesn't look fresh and though it was a late Sunday night past 8:30 no one else came in or was here while I was eating. Not coming back.

If you have crap food for cheap. Don't serve it even if its buffet style. The quality of food you are serving will be tied to your name brand. We saw many people ordering from the menu, and I think I know why now. It might be better tasting than the buffet. But why would anyone think that. Its coming from the same kitchen. No? Friendly service at least.

Lack of local selection in Walterboro (at least, open on a Wednesday night) led me to this chain. I had a fried chicken craving coming in and no place to satisfy it, but miraculously, Shoney's had a special Southern Comfort buffet tonight, and it just happened to feature fried chicken. Believe me, I loaded up. For just $9 I felt like I got $25 worth of food easily. Excellent value, excellent service (Valencia was a great waitress). See how often they have a special buffet - that could be the make or break deal.
