Oscars....honestly, for a local (I have no idea how long they have been around) place, they nail it. Pretty much all around. I have yet to have anything less than great service, and each time I go, I try something new, and it's great. I've been in for Pad Thai, burgers, tacos, a Prime Rib-Easter Brunch, crab dip, mushrooms, from what I can remember. Everything has been fantastic. I really can't find anything to complain about. One of my favorite things about Oscar's is the different "environments" you can choose from to dine in. Built inside of an old house, Oscar's has a bit of age. That's ok. On the inside, there is a cozier, area that is quieter for "date nights." The bar area is more pub-like, with wooden booths, TVs, and the atmosphere is quite a bit louder. The garden room is an open, well-lit room, with a couple of massive, family-style tables that is a great area for groups. So, really, for date night, all you need to do is decide what type of atmosphere you are after. (Think: 1. nice dinner 2. a pub 3. sun room) So, is it the best food on the planet? No, probably not. But if you are looking for a diverse menu, that provides local (seafood and beer for example), and is solid all around, with great hospitality, hit up Oscar's.

We went here a few weeks ago for a holiday party. The service was good, but the food was very mediocre. We had 4 options to choose from on our special menu, and I had the salmon and my husband had the steak. Our meals also came with bread, salad, and a peanut butter cheesecake slice for dessert. The bread was good, but the salad was nothing too special. The waiter also brought us large bowls of ranch dressing for the table, but I asked for the vinaigrette- which was much better. We ended up having tons of ranch left over, I really wish they just offered to bring out the dressings we wanted instead of having to ask. My salmon was really good! It had a nice sauce on it, and it also came with roasted potatoes and broccoli. The broccoli didn't have much of a taste or seasoning, but the potatoes and fish were good. My husband's steak, on the other hand, while ordered medium rare... was definitely well done. In fact, the menu stated the steak would be prepared medium, but everyone at the table who ordered it had a well done steak! Since Oscar's had another holiday function going on and we were all at a party, no one wanted to keep others waiting by sending the food back. But cooking a steak is one of the most basic things at a restaurant, I don't see how they can mess that up. The peanut butter cheesecake was delicious :). Very rich and I couldn't finish it all, so I took some home and it was good the next day. I also had a candy cane martini, which was the drink of the month. It was a good cocktail, but pretty small. Oscar's isn't a bad place to host a holiday event. The service was good and the waiter took care of us, but the food is not worth a trip back for us, from West Ashley.

Sorry just wasn't impressed. The place came with a great deal of hype, but the food and service were just "OK".

By FAR my favorite local place in Summerville. Don't judge a book by it's cover! Want great food and a relaxed atmosphere? Go in, turn left, enjoy! Want great food and a little more quiet and intimate? Make a reservation, go in, turn right. Awesome staff, GREAT food, and plenty of smiles and happy tummies!

So so good! Atmosphere was amazing and the wait staff was even better! Well worth the price if you are looking for a romantic night out--everyone was smiling! We ordered the shrimp and scallop linguini and the prime rib--both were awesome, definitely worth coming back for. Staff was honest about their recommendations and didn't just try to get you to purchase the expensive stuff. Leave room for dessert! Never thought I'd say I like warm cheesecake, but the caramel tortilla wrapped cheesecake was out this world. Will definitely come back!!

Great atmosphere. Great food and great service. My server "Olivia" was so pleasant and enthusiastic about the menu. I had shrimp and grits and they were fantastic.

I was there Saturday night to celebrate my birthday Saturday night. We had reservations and had to wait 25 minutes to be seated. That was quite a long time, but we ended up being blown away by the food. We started with the most delicious calamari I've ever had. I had seared salmon and he had the fish trio. The atmosphere was wonderful. Our waitress was attentive and sweet. I really have nothing bad to say about Oscar's at all. I can't wait until I get a chance to go back. FYI: It is a very nice spot for a romantic evening out.

A group of 8 of us got together for a great meal. Everyone really enjoyed their entrees...no appetizers. We did save room for dessert, and they were each both beautiful and generous in portion size. No hesitation in recommending Oscar's for dinner.

We've never been to Summerville, and Oscar's is the highest-rated restaurant in this area, so of course we had to try it. Very impressed with the menu, it's small enough to specialize but yet offers something for everyone. I had one of the specials, the escolar filet, and I hope they make it a permanent fixture on the menu. The filet was perfectly-cooked, and the tomato base broth had a touch of lemon and was the perfect complement to the homemade gnocchi and vegetables. The chef is amazing, I hope they realize what a gem they have. My compliments!!

I took 10 from a small, surprise wedding before Christmas for an unofficial wedding reception of just immediate friends and family. Every order to their own liking with a few drinks. The appetizers were fabulous. The smoked Gouda grit cakes- never heard of it- served over pulled pork and a citrus chipotle barbecue sauce. Man, I'll do that again. The crab stuffed shrimp was the best I've ever had. The entrées were scored on a 1 to 10 basis by the one who chose them. Ribeye steak- 11, chimichanga- 9, seafood burrito- 7, chicken carbonara- 9, seared salmon- 7, chicken parm- 9. The service was excellent along with the dessert. My wife fell in love with the seasonal peppermint Oreo pie. Our waiter, Kelvin- efficient, attentive and awesome.

You don't need to travel to downtown charleston for a good meal when oscars is right in your back yard. Clean, inviting, and friendly staff that know the menu. Felt like a locals only place, which is exactly what we wanted. We had Gene as our server and he was great! Attentive, knowledgable, and made us enjoy our experience. Started with a Caesar salad and was offered the anchovy option which most restaurants do not, matched with fresh pumpernickel bread. My wife got the fried chicken breast which was amazing but I wish we had asked for some honey mustard to dip it bc it was like a giant chicken tender. I ordered the tenderloin Oscar style. Wow! Loved it and cooked perfectly as well as the asparagus. Will definitely be back...even if it's only for desert which was a strawberry banana cheesecake with ice cream.

We went for dinner, it was so nice. The atmosphere made it a nice romantic dinner for 2. The crab dip was amazing. And the warm bread was so good. I really enjoyed the selection of wine and beers. The sweet tea pork chop was amazing.

Our waiter was more interested in the richer looking older couple and felt that they deserved their food before us even thought they came in after and we ordered first. If I wasn't there with my beautiful wife, this dinner would have ranked up there in the top 10 as the worst Valentine's Dinners! Your stuck ordering from their limited and overly expensive special menu. The food was cold and was told that is the way it was supposed to be which I know was a lie. It was bland...bet the chef was out that day so a regular cook made the food. I for one will never waste another hard earned or even a free dollar in this place. If anyone were to ever give me a gift certificate for here, I would definitely sell it!

I flew home one time, telling my parents I was craving shrimp and grits. Going downtown is a pain sometimes, especially since Charleston is now such a popular foodie city. Reservations are necessary at restaurants now. When did that happen?! I ordered the wedge salad and shrimp and grits. The wedge salad was your normal wedge salad. The shrimp and grits were SO good though. There was a good amount of heat, the grits were creamy, and the shrimp were huge. I stopped eating halfway through because I wanted to make sure I could take the other half home for the next day.

Brunch was great. My mother-in-law, she is 96, really enjoys going to Oscar's. Service was attentive. My favorite item was the shrimp and grits. Hubby enjoyed the roast beef and am.

Food was fantastic and service terrific. We stumbled on this via Yelp a few years ago and we keep coming back when we are in town. Fabulous all the way around.

  • Amy G.

The service was fantastic and we had the Fried grits over Pulled pork and the calimari which was amazing but the main courses was just okay nothing to rave about. There was four of us and we all agreed that if we ever decided to come back to stick to appetizers only. The Chicken Parmesan was okay nothing wonderful nor was the Chicken Chimichanga and my friend had the steak which was good but the sides you could make better at home. If you want to stop have a drink and some appetizers I would recommend this place but for dinner it just isn't worth the price.

I had the" Ville" burger last week at lunch, it was the best burger I have ever eaten in my life! Great service, comfortable booth. Recommended 100%

Great food & service! Both times we have ate lunch, but will definitely try dinner one night! The shrimp n grits made a life changing impact on my boyfriend Hah! He is addicted and says only Oscar's does it right! ...as well as the she crab soup. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone!

  • Kristina F.

Oh my goodness, where do I start?! The service was amazing- Kelly is funny AND helpful. Truly, she added to our dining experience and made it fun. Now for the food... SOOOOO good! The starter of calamari was surprising, and out of this world delicious. Next, we ordered the she-crab soup, and again, it was delicious! We shared the evening special of crab-stuffed sirloin, with potatoes au-gratin and carrots as sides. We just about literally licked our plates clean. Ohhhhs and ahhhhs! So good! For dessert we shared the Southern Crack Cake. Honestly, I can't imagine how this meal could possibly be improved upon. I wish I lived in South Carolina, just so we could come here all the time! A must-do, if you can!

I have lived here many years and have eaten at Oscars dozens of times. It used to be great. Now it is so-so. Nothing to write home about. I would love to see Oscar's return to greatness.

The braised short ribs were so tender I didn't need a knife, the and the bacon wrapped shrimp was life changing

We went here based on local recommendation. My son's buttermilk chicken was good, but could have been better with a little chicken gravy. The fried green tomatoes had some sort of weird topping on it. We've noticed that is the trend in this area. Not sure why. The bacon wrapped fried shrimp was just plain weird. My wife had a very nice salad with a very large piece of salmon that she was happy with. The server was faster than most that I have seen and quite attentive.

The fiancee and I had a Groupon for Oscar's that we finally wanted to cash in. The instructions on the Groupon said that reservations were required, but we didn't realize this until we pulled into the parking lot. I called (from the parking lot) to see if we really needed a reservation (it was Friday night and the lot was packed). The hostess chuckled and said, no we could be seated in 5 to 10 minutes. So we headed in and were immediately impressed with the interior. I have to say, I've driven by Oscar's a few times, and it isn't particularly attractive from the road. It looks more like a banquet hall than a restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised by the interior. They have a lounge/bar area that had a live musician playing on one side of the restaurant and another more formal dining room on the other side. There is also what looks to be a large area from the main dining room for private parties or extra seating. We were indeed seated within about 5 minutes, and immediately greeted by our server, Tom. He filled our drink orders, and proceeded to tell us about the menu. He is a seasoned professional, who you could tell knew the menu backwards and forwards, which I appreciate a lot. We decided on the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer, and the fiancee also ordered the wedge salad. For entrees, I went with the salmon (my litmus test for the quality of a restaurant) and my fiancee asked Tim to bring him something good, so Tim brought him a NY Strip. Everything we ordered was well executed, and well presented. Not to mention, rather prompt for a busy night. At the end of our meal, we decided on a dessert and asked TIm again for a recommendation. He immediately suggested the Banana Xango. It is basically banana cheesecake rolled up in a springroll wrapper, fried and served with ice cream and carmel and whipped cream. It was not my favorite thing, but my fiancee loved it. Personal preference, I don't like banana flavored things or caramel. I'm sad that it took us almost 8 years to go to Oscar's but, I'm glad we finally did and we definitely be coming back.

Went here earlier today with my Bestie and loved it! The food was great, especially the fried grits, and our bartender (Harry) was awesome :). Harry was very attentive and made sure we enjoyed our time there.

I had great memories of my first meal at Oscars. Unfortunately this meal was less than acceptable. Granted it was Valentines Day, but we had an early reservation and high hopes. The menu was a special one. Limited options. Our waiter was attentive and pleasant. He served us the first course of appetizers. Oysters Rockefeller, Beef Satay and an encrusted goat cheese. All the food was cold! We mentioned it to our waiter and he brought a second plate and explained that they were having a problem with the heat lamps. The second plate was lukewarm . No complaints about the soup which was fairly warm and tasty. My husband got the rib eye and ordered it rare. His meat came out medium well and tough and stringy. I had the surf and turf. Lobster tail was ok. The filet mignon was also ordered rare and came out medium. I took one bite ( I do not like well done meat ). Tasteless. No complaints about the service however which is why I gave 3 stars. The meal was relaxed and not rushed in spite of it being Valentine's Day. Will I go back when it is not an occasion? Probably not

Hi, We have been at this restaurant many times. But yesterday for lunch we had there buffet. The choices on the bar were unbelievable. I have never had pulled pork as good as that was in my life. The roasted cauliflower was also great. The prices were reasonable for lunch. As well as the buffet they have a regular menu, so no matter what you prefer there are choices for any one. Keep up the great work.

  • Erica H.

The only complaint I have is regarding the wallpaper, an outdated icky plaid. Otherwise, everything I put in my mouth was delicious. Best short ribs I have ever had, some of the best she crab soup, and the fried banana cheesecake dessert is frickin' ridiculous.

My wife and I have been driving by Oscars for awhile now and just were fortunate to stop in. We love good food and don't mind paying $100 plus for a meal with appetizers, entrees and dessert. We do however hate when we walk out and say "that was not a $100 meal." That was NOT the case with Oscars. The food was outstanding. I always order the Calamari when trying a new restaurant. It is usually indicative of the overall menu. Some of the best prepared Calamari I have had in years! My entree, a Buttermilk Chicken Breast was cooked perfectly and seasoned wonderfully. However the highlight of the night was their dessert! I have the Pumpkin Spiced Bundt Cake with Cinnamon Ice Cream. It was perhaps the dessert I have ever had in Summerville. Cooked perfectly. Spiced Divinely! The Cinnamon Ice Cream with Candied Pecans was fantastic! Our server Terry was perfect as well. Just the right amount of attention. She never let us go wanting for a drink refill and she brought the courses out at the perfect times. She wasn't overbearing and we could eat in peace. We liked it so much that we went ahead and got reservations for the Thanksgiving Buffet. If you live in Summerville you would have to drive to downtown Charleston or JOhns Island to get a meal of this caliber. We WILL be back!

  • Cecelia E.

Just okay. In fact, average at best. We had tasteless filet mignon, uninspired barbeque chicken, mashed potatoes, and grilled asparagus, along with a slightly-better crab cake. The service was good but we ended up leaving a lot on our plates. It was not bad; it just was not equal to the prices they were charging. (So that you do not get the wrong impression; we do not mind paying for good food. We just did not find it here.)

  • Jameelah S.

The restaurant's parking lot was packed when my friend and I arrived so we figured it must be good, and it was! There were different seafod combos that excited the eyes, and also the tastebuds. Our server was very zealous but, this was true zeal at least from our server because they believe in the food! We had she-crab soup, shrimp, oysters and a seafood burrito.... They were all YUMMY!!! Nothing on the desert menu tickled our fancy but, it was all good. I definitely have to go back to try something else and to use my coupon!

  • Leslie A.

The atmosphere and service was wonderful however my shrimp and grits had liquid pools of butter about 25% more than I'm comfortable with (and I'm a true southerner) The drinks were creative and delicious. The menu is overpriced which is the only reason I won't be returning...

I took a group here for dinner last night, the reservation was for 11 and there ended up being 13. They were very accommodating and immediately set us up in their private room. The food was great everyone had nothing but positive feedback from my coworkers! Our waiter was excellent, we always had full drinks and he was very attentive! I will definitely be back!!!

You know, I really hate giving the restaurants I go to a low amount of stars but this place really deserves this one. Let me start with our starter salads. The house salad was fine. You can't mess that up. Just throw some lettuce, tomatoes and whatever else you want on a plate and cover with dressing. Done! However the caesar salad, oh dear, what did they do?! The people that order the caesar salad in our group took one bite, almost spit it out and sent it back. They said it tasted awful! I took a bite because I wanted to try it and wow, it was really bad. I don't know what they do to the dressing, but they should stop immediately. For my main course I got the filet and sweet potatoes. The sweet potatoes were amazing! I could have eaten a whole plate of just that. But the steak, what the heck. It took me about 5 minutes to chew each bite I took and I ordered it medium! I had never eaten a steak so chewy in my life! Maybe I'm just a spoiled Texan, I don't know. Some people in our group really loved the she crab soup, my husband said the pork chop was good but his cousin said the chicken alfredo was awful. The good thing is that they keep your drinks full. The waitstaff is constantly coming around to refill your water, tea, and whatever else you might have gotten to drink. That was a nice thing since the majority of us was drinking a lot to get this food down....

Generally the menu items are better than average but are a tad bit pricey. Nothing on the menu blows me away, but at the same time, nothing lets you down. The only bad experience I've had here was the buffet ran out and that's with them knowing our large party(12 people) was coming 2 days in advance. It's a nice family spot with a quaint atmosphere. The location can be a bit hard to get in and out of.

We enjoyed a recent mid week meal here. We didn't have reservations so sat in the bar area with 2 tables pushed together. This was more than adequate. We ordered the fried calamari as an appetizer which was delicious and cooked perfectly- tender and not chewy as is often the case. I decided to try the southern classic shrimp and grits and was not disappointed. Once again the seafood - shrimp- was cooked perfectly. A tad spicy due to theTabasco sauce but flavorful . The portion was huge and I brought home easily half of it. Others in our party ordered chicken and pork and said it was tasty. Good service, food arrived fast. Only complaint was water was not given to everyone- only if you requested it.

"Wonderful experience... we will be going back every opportunity!" I am so glad that I ignored the atypical bad experiences of a few. Although unfamiliar with many of the amenities of Summerville, I had heard wonderful things about Oscar's from friends at home. My wife and I were in the Charleston area to celebrate our 40th anniversary and CHOSE to eat at Oscar's... what a fortunate decision. Oscar's has a very relaxed yet casually elegant welcoming feeling, white table cloths & quality flatware, and the service and food definitely MET & EXCEEDED our expectations! I fully understand why another reviewer loves Tom! What a friendly fine attentive server he was for our evening at Oscar's. I learned from him that the owner of Oscar's has had the restaurant for 30 years... and Tom has been a part of the Oscar's experience for almost 20 of them while doing any and every job required during that time. I almost passed on the "traditional" iceberg wedge... only to find that Oscar's wedge is anything but traditional. Yes, a large delicious cold iceberg wedge topped with a fine creamy Bleu cheese & crisp bacon bits... so traditional... but then the "secret" balsamic vinaigrette drizzled over it knocks it out of the park! A wow! I could have done it again tonight if not a few hundred miles away! I'm not a salad person but I finished it and still could have eaten more! Then I had my entree from the appetizer listings... fried green tomatoes and crab cakes! WHAT is NOT to love about either of those for lovers of low country cuisine? Oscar's gives you BOTH in one presentation: stacks them in alternating layers topped with a spicy sauce that compliments both tastes! What a challenging combination to marry into a succulent feast! My wife had a seafood combination offering that seemed to suit her fine... she commented that it was delicious. She made a point to finish ALL the seafood although she did offer me a taste IF I wanted it. She seemed relieved that I did not. Toward the end of the meal Tom asked if we'd like coffee (since we'd had water with lemon). We said "yes," mentioned it was our anniversary, and we planned on sharing a dessert. Learning it was our anniversary, he insisted upon giving us a complimantary dessert! It was beautifully presented for us to share: delicious vanilla ice cream wrapped in a perfect crepe... topped with whipped cream and drizzled with a chocolate sauce! Mmmmmmmmmmmm, so good! Just the right end to our meal. While there I observed 3 business men having drinks and dinner while conducting an informal business meeting, an couple dining together, and a lone local man who has a "usual" selection and surely must frequent several times a week. All received prompt attentive service from what I could observe. Business, pleasure, or romance... Oscar's seems quite able to provide delicious fare to make it memorable. I had mentioned the "bad" reviews earlier in the afternoon to my attorney in Summerville, and his take on it was that any restaurant can have an off day due to an unexpected large crowd or some personnel glitch beyond its control... & he and his wife eat at Oscar's 4-5 times a month! It's his favorite place in town... he's lived there all his life... and he declined to endorse either of my two other possible places that I asked him about over Oscar's! He also told me that items from Oscar's past not on the current menu are possibley on the bar menu & available. I spoke with Tom about this and he also said anything Oscar's has had on the menu in the past is probably still available "if a person just asks for it!" Oscar's is quite worty of competing with almost any restaurant Charleston has to offer! And in 32 years of Charleston being our favorite getaway destination since moving to SC from GA... all I can say is that I'm so sorry that I did not discover Oscar's sooner. However, I will frequent it from now on... because I've not had a better meal in Charleston's historic district anywhere within walking distance from Calhoun Street to the Battery!

The food was awesome and our waiter was on point. Really cool atmosphere. My girlfriend and I both got seafood and loved it! They have a good drink menu and everything is fairly priced. I saw what a few people had orders when I went to wash my hands and decided that one trip was not going to be enough.

They serve the night before left overs for the lunch buffet. :/. This was an ok place. I think it is a little over rated. It didn't have that big wow factor. Stick to the menu and don't have the buffet.

Majority of dinner was amazing! She crab soup, baked beans, veggies..banana desert amazing! Downside was brisket was overlooked, and hubbies chicken undercooked?..big ouch! But management was great about it . We will do again at least one more time.

My husband and I just moved here four months ago, and have been trying to find good, local restaurants (without necessarily needing to drive downtown). We decided to try this place for my birthday tonight, even though the prices were a little high for this area. I couldn't have been happier! The ambiance is comfortable and classy, the food phenomenal. The maitre'd wasn't terribly enthusiastic, but that might have been because it was a Tuesday night, with "Wing Night" in full swing on the bar side of the establishment. The waiter appeared to be new, as he stumbled a bit over things, but again ... Tuesday. His suggestion on a glass of Reisling was spot on. We shared the crab cake and fried green tomato appetizer, which was tasty enough, although we both agreed there was a 'bottom note' missing. I thought more of the chili remoulade would have done the trick. For dinner, my husband got the filet mignon, which was fabulous. I got the Chicken Chausser, which was also amazing. Even the vegetables that came on the side -- mashed potatoes, broccoli, baby carrots -- were perfectly done, fully cooked but still firm and tasty. For dessert we shared a slice of New York cheesecake. We are cheesecake snobs of a sort -- and this one satisfied! Made on site, the texture and taste were amazing, and the fruit coulis a nice counterpoint. My husband would have preferred a more robust coffee blend to balance the sweetness of the cheesecake, but that's a minor point. Overall, we would definitely go back, although probably just for special occasions based on the price.

I was told by a local that this restaurant is the best in Summerville. LIke many restaurants off the beaten path in this town, it's nestled in a mixed residential/business neighborhood in a building that looks like it may have at some point in the past been a home. I popped in on Saturday night without a reservation. The maitre'd told me that I would have to wait a while unless I wanted to sit in the bar. I peeked in the bar and there was plenty of seating. Why not? According to the announcement sign by the street, Friday and Saturday are Prime Rib night. I had the Queen cut (12 oz for $24.95); it included a baked potato (w/ butter, sour cream, cheese and bacon) and vegetable. I was amazed that I didn't have to wait more than about 7-8 minutes before the food was at the table. Jennifer (my waitress) was very attentive. She was super sweet with a great personality. After I wolfed down the outstanding meal, Jennifer asked me if I wanted dessert. I'll turn down dessert 9 times out of 10, but I thought I should at least find out what was on the dessert menu?!? Jennifer listed a few items, then she said, " My favorite is the Banana Xango"..... WHAT????? Jennifer said, "OMG... Banana Xango is heaven in a dish. It's my favorite." "What is it?" "Deep fried flour tortilla filled with bananas and cheesecake, rolled in sugar with caramel sauce, cinnamon ice cream, whip cream and sprinkled with shaved white chocolate and pecan bits." What the hell.... you only live once, right? Well, this dessert is big enough for two big eaters and it should be outlawed.... it was outrageously good. I could only eat about half of it but I wallowed out of the restaurant a happy camper. Color me a return shopper sometime soon.

I've eaten at Oscar's several times for dinner and I've always been pleased. Until today. Met friends there for lunch and we all decided to order the buffet. While the food looked good and tasted good, everything was cold. If you go to Oscar's for lunch, skip the buffet. It was a huge disappointment.

The food here was delicious. I've eaten here twice and both meals were amazing. The pork tenderloin was extremely moist and I'll probably get it again the next time. I had the filet the first time and it was cooked perfect, but had a strange presentation with straw fries piled very high on top. The shrimp that came with that filet could have been better. Bread is served with your meal with a honey butter spread. The wait staff spaces courses well so you don't feel rushed. There is a great bar area to wait for you table that has several big screen tvs. You can order food in there. We get the spinach artichoke dip every time. We've unfortunately been too full to try the desserts, but they look huge. The atmosphere is slightly dark with red plaid wallpaper. We both found the booths to be uncomfortable.

I would highly recommend Oscars. My wife and I got the lump crab cake for an appetizer and ribeye steaks for our entrees. The crab cake was one of the best I've ever had and the rib eyes were just as good. I am so glad that I bought the Groupon and decided to try out Oscars. My wife has already requested we go back for our anniversary.

After many excellent dining visits to Oscar's, we decided to have my Mom's 75th birthday party there in November 2011. The party was for 30 people and we selected off a menu with four main courses. The host and guest of honor selected off the regular menu. The four main course selections included beef, chicken, pork, or fish. I have worked in numerous restaurants in my life, and have always liked Oscar's for its food and service. For this party, they went above and beyond to make sure everyone was satisfied with the food and service. We were given a private room, and several waitresses and busboys were assigned our party. The wait staff had the meals, from appetizers to dessert, moving through nicely. We were not rushed and everyone enjoyed themselves! The final tab was very reasonable for the event and I would recommend Oscar's not only for their regular menu, but also as a place to throw a special party/event. I have had a variety of their menu items, and all have been excellent. My favorite is the shrimp and grits! It is the best in SC! And the service is ALWAYS excellent.

My wife and I have been here for not less than 10 dinners, and between my wife and co-workers we have had lunch here about as much. I have never been disappointed. Great wait staff, and clean restaurant. We have always ordered off the menu, and have not tried the buffet. Make sure you try the Tuille dessert.

Charleston is famous for she-crab soup and I don't think it gets any better than Oscar's. We got great service from Melissa. She was friendly and attentive without being annoying. For an upscale restaurant the food is served very quickly. Our reservation was at 6:15 and we had drinks and she-crab soup by 6:20. My wife had shrimp and grits, another Charleston classic, and it was superb. I had crab-stuffed trout which was good, but when I return I'll probably go for the shrimp and grits. We don't visit the Charleston area often but we'll definitely come back to Oscar's.

Limited, but very elegant dinner menu. I had the Ribeye, garlic mashed potatoes, and broccoli.

Not really sure what to say about Oscar's. Everyone always raves, but I'm not convinced. The menu really has no direction. It is a jumbled mix of this and that. And there were a few things on it that left me scratching my head wondering, "Why would you pair these things together?". I ordered the chicken pasta something or other in a cream based sauce. The only thing I would call good about it was the pasta was cooked properly. Had some sort of chocolate peanut butter cake/pie and it was fine, not great. I apologize for the vagueness, but I was not taking notes and they have not updated their website menus. Not sure what all of the fuss is about. I didn't pay and for that I was glad. I won't go back.
