Damn you Ike's !! Your making this really hard. It's like trying to pick your favorite kid. Ok, the pros. 1-burger was delicious, cooked perfect. Meat had more flavor than Nu-way( barely ) 2- onion rings were crispy & decent. Cons. 1- fries SUCKED !! Soggy , undercooked & burnt @ the same time. 2- no liqueur license. 3- no liqueur license. 4- further from my house than Nu-Way. So to sum it up. Ike's makes a damn tasty burger!! As good as Nu-way ? Well that's something you will have to figure out for yourself. To me I'm leaning towards

This is a true Spartanburg classic. REALLY good burgers and fries as well as hot dogs, $1 canned domestic beer. It's isn't fancy and there is always a line, so don't expect to go and just "hang out" for hours because it's just not how it's done and it's too loud for that anyway. You will be elbow to elbow with the person next to you and you won't care cause the food is that good. Best burger in the Burg!

Terrier Burger and Chicken wings are my favorites. Be sure to order the wings extra crispy. The homemade chips are a great alternative to fries!

Best burgers in Spartanburg. I've had better, but not in Spartanburg. Reasonably priced. The lunch crowd varies from blue collar to professional. Just try their burgers!

Don't look for health food here! Awesome, juicy burgers, hand cut fries, geat friendly service! Man it's good. This is the first time in years that I have over eaten. They even gave us a free bacon flavors Dum Dum. I took five preteens and we were treated like royalty. Great community seating encourages interaction with other patrons. A yummy occasional treat.

Best burgers and freshly cut fries I have ever had! I also recommend the fried bologna sanwich. No matter what you get, you can't go wrong!!

If you're in Spartanburg, don't waste your time nor money eating a burger anywhere else other than Ike's Korner Grille. Ike's is a hole in the wall located near some railroad tracks. Try to go for an early or late lunch to miss the lunch crowd as there is limited seating, otherwise it will be a tight squeeze to get a table. And be prepared to sit next to people you don't know, which is a fantastic way to make new friends! The burgers, fries, and fried mushrooms are scrumptious, the service is attentive, and $10 will buy you lunch heaven. This is a diner, so be prepared for a greasy eating experience. But it's clean with a DHEC score of 99.

Looking for a fun dive? Jump in here! This place is full of flavor and local character. Don't let the exterior fool you -- because inside there are professionals cooking up good eats. I had the chili cheeseburger with onions and mustard accompanied by a side of fresh cut potato fries. This burger patty (if you can call it a patty -- more like a slab of deliciousness) is handcrafted and ground fresh daily. It's consistency is unlike anything I've ever had. I don't know what their trick is, but it works. Here's how it works: Walk in. Sit down. Order. Eat. Bring your ticket to the cash register located at the bar and pay. Thank me later.

Everything you could want from a roadhouse burger joint in South Carolina. Old school hand pattied burgers with all the fixins, and they literally cut the fries directly into the fryer. Grab an ice cold can of cheap beer, and you got yourself an experience that can't be topped in the Upstate. This is my staple lunch spot for visitors in Spartanburg for the first time. Skip the Beacon, they don't have cheap beer.

This place is cheap. So, they've got that going for themselves. Other than that...I dunno. It's cheap. I spent $9 and got a can of beer, two chili dogs and some fries. The fries are fresh and probably the hottest fries I've ever gotten at a restaurant, but they didn't blow me away. You can always tell if a restaurant uses fresh oil everyday (or at least cleans it everyday) and I'd suspect that Ike's doesn't. I should have specified I wanted my dogs grilled, because if you don't, they just boil them. I don't mind a boiled hot dog, but had the waitress asked (or if I had remembered to ask), I'd have gotten them grilled. Also, the waitress must not have heard me, because I asked for chili, cheese and onions and not the default chili, onions and mustard. I thought she heard me, because I said, "I want the chili dogs, but instead of the mustard can I have cheese?" and I swear she repeated it back to me. When I got the dogs, they had chili, onions and mustard. I don't have anything against mustard, it was just a personal preference at the timeand I wanted cheese instead. When I looked at the check, it said "2 Dogs CMO", so I guess she didn't hear me. Can't blame the cook. The dogs weren't all that great. I really wish I could have tried them grilled, because I'd bet they have a lot more flavor. If I'm ever in town again, I'll have to try them grilled and make sure I get cheese instead of mustard. They have all the basic domestic beers in cans and on the day I went at lunchtime, they were all $1.50. Not sure if that's their price all the time or not. Otherwise, this was a mediocre, if not less, experience. But again, it's cheap.

After being to both Beacon Drive-In and Ike's in the same week, I have to tell you: Ike's puts them to shame. Their burgers are amazing and hand-made. There is a world of difference between frozen patties with all the fixin's and mammoth hamburgers made by hand and Ike's appreciates that difference and capitalizes on it. My buddy from Spartanburg took me to Ike's on my final day in town and they did not disappoint. We both got a 'Double Cheese' (double cheeseburger) 'All The Way' (topped with chili, mustard and onions) with fries for about $10 each with a drink. I went with a Dr. Pepper and the cute girl behind the counter wrote 'Doc' on it. Come to think of it, ALL the girls who work at Ike's are cute. We went around lunchtime on a Friday and the place was packed. There was an impossible amount of cars in the parking lot and everyone was shoehorned into the building comfortably. Our burgers were done in no time and there was always someone babysitting the platoon of burgers frying away on the flat top between the cooks, the cute waitresses and everyone in between. They use ground chuck for their burgers. I don't have a doubt in my mind about that. Chuck is the go-to beef to use for hamburgers because it's a fatty mix that's chock-full of flavor. There was just the right amount of juice dripping from our double burgers and they were packed with taste. I went into a small food coma afterward and crashed out on the couch for a few hours to digest. Cute girls, good handmade food and great prices: what else do you need?

My husband and I planed a bike trip from Powdersville SC to Spartanburg just to try their burgers. Not a long trip... we took back roads and it took about an hour. We get there the parking lot is about half full. There is a 20 foot sign that shows the hours as 10 to 9 reassuring us we were good to go. We walk in and there are people eating and a woman says "we're closed" and nothing else. It was only 230 or so in the afternoon. Had the lady provided an explanation or maybe an apology we might have considered going back one day.

I love this place!! Was kinda worried when my husband took me but was absolutely amazed!! Even happier now that there is no smoking!!!

When you wanted to get your grease fix it used to be you would go to the Beacon. But now that the Beacon is not quite what it once was, Ikes Corner Grille has definitely stepped to the front. The burgers are large and flavorful, and the parking lot is always full (always a good sign). Its cheap, tasty, and quick.

    did they change the meat??

Great burgers! We went at lunch and it was very busy so the service was a bit slow but probably due to the crowd. We will definitely go back for a burger.

Stopped here in December after seeing such great reviews on here. I got the double cheeseburger and fries, it was unreal. Easily one of the best burger's i've had. Only reason i couldn't give it 5 starts is my fiance got the "turbo dog" which was agreed to be very mediocre. The Service could be better, but it's a bar so i couldn't expect much.

  • Claire W.

Wow. They made one of the best burgers I have ever eaten. It's cheap and a really neat place. There's a fun porch outside where they have live music and then tables and a bar inside. Delicious.

Ike's has the best burger in town and has cheeseburger specials on Tuesday and Thursday. You will want to get there early because the seating fills up quickly.

Awesome fries, made fresh and delicious. Also amazing burgers. The whole place is somewhere Sam and Dean Winchester would eat at in Supernatural- cheap, delicious, greasy, and homey. Highly recommended if you like bar food or comfort food. Outstanding service.

  • Jon G.

Yes!! Eat here! The place is a bit of a dive but it embraces that. There's smoking at the bar, but that kind of adds to the charm at this joint. We'll be back. Burgers The burgers are made fresh on their flat top grill, so no flame taste, but we honestly didn't miss it. We got our the Terrier Burgers with pimento cheese (YES), bacon, and grilled onion. They were big, melty, and just freakin' good. Fries The potato cutter is hanging on the wall next to the frier, so you know their fries are fresh. Onion rings Solid rings, my friend. Solid. $1 Beer What? That's right. One dollar for some Bud Light Juice. Incredible.

  • Aimee B.

Omg delicious! They even have a burger contest for the brave. It's a dive, but its one that feels kinda homey and smells delicious (minus the smoking, but it will be non smoking soon). Can beer at only $1.15 each. Homemade French fries to order, and delicious burgers grilled right in front of you. Try it, you'll be glad you did.

Definitely a dive, but not in a bad way. ($1 beer can't be too terrible of a thing, right?) I told an acquaintance that I was new to town, and he recommended Ike's. I drove over there on a Saturday afternoon; it wasn't busy at all. The guys working the bar were very friendly. I had a chilidog with fries. The freshly-cut homemade fries crunched and melted in my mouth, a little bit crisp and a little bit greasy. They were great. The walls are full of local posters and newspaper clippings about Ike's that add to the homey atmosphere. Since I was just out and about alone that day, I was pretty content to check email and read the news on my phone, but the staff were really nice and came over to chat with me. Friendly people, good fries, laid back hole-in-the-wall. Good stuff.

This is the kind of place you'd see on DD&D, bc it's definately a dive and the food is awesome! I only ate there one time a couple years ago before I moved away, but I've never forgotten it. Have you ever had a bacon cheeseburger where the bacon is the biggest source of meat on it? I hadn't either until i went there. It was for lunch and was super busy, but the burger, and our tea glasses never making it to empty, made up for the wait. I literally had a pack of bacon on my burger! I gave some to every person eating with us and still had a lot left! It was amazing tasting too! I've always wondered if they just gave me so much so that they could empty the rest on me, or if that's the norm. Now that I've moved back, I can't wait to go again and find out :)

Ike's is a classic. Located in an old house that truly is on the other side of the tracks. NASCAR paraphernalia and local news adorns the walls. Sacks of fresh potatoes are piled behind the counter. And most importantly, the BEST burger in town. And don't forget to try the awesome jalapeno poppers. Great hole-in-the-wall place to grab a delicious lunch!

Truly great cheeseburger. World class. But the cigarette smoke is sickening.

Was in town for a biz meet'n and had biz lunch at Ike's. Emphasis on "biz" so I really didn't have much chance to soak up the atmosphere - but I have enough chance to notice that this place had a lot of character. Also couldn't help but notice that their burgers were good - really good! I'm looking forward to a return visit.

Great hole-in-the-wall restaurant which offers a good vegetarian option! The fries and sweet tea are delicious. Not the most healthy choice but taste-wise it's up there.

Let me fill you in on a secret to getting great service at Ike's- wear your Gamecock gear! You are guaranteed fast service with a friendly smile- hell, I think they would do this anyway as long as I was not wearing orange! The menu is very straight forward. Do not be surprised if you need to ask for one because most of the folks who come here are regulars. I get a burger. It is delicious and done right every time. Just keep in mind you are in the South so you need to say what you do and do not want on your burger, baby. Love the fries- they are cut on the wall and into the deep fryer just for you. Yum! You can get beers for a buck anytime of day. You can expect a wait at lunch- but not a wait on your food. The staff is attentive and your tea will never be far from empty. Try to keep your jaw closed if you happen to run in to some of Spartanburg's finer and famous citizens! (Just look for a HUGE ring!)

Know that you are going here for the food and not the environment. It basically looks like a hole in the wall local bar that also cooks hamburgers. That's okay with me as the hamburgers are quite good, with the fries being the kind where they run whole potatoes through the fry cutter. The staff is friendly and I like going there. Overall, the best hamburger I have found in my two years here.

Great local bar that's been around for many years. The staff are friendly and service was good. The fried bologna burger is made the old fashioned way with a thick slice of bologna and very good !

Ike's is a local greasy spoon favorite and in a town full of these it is one of the best and most popular. At lease that's what the locals tell this Yankee transplant. THE thing to get there is a burger, any way you like it (chili, onions, mayo, mustard, slaw, tomato, etc.) an order of fries or onion rings and a Heineken. The fries are fresh cut through a wall mounted hand press directly above the fryalator. The nascar themed restaurant is best enjoyed for lunchtime but it does get busy, especially on a weekend so be prepared to wait a few minutes especially with a crowd. Although the wait is never too long and the food and experience is always worth it. There are many other items on the menu including a bologna sandwich only served burnt, a "turbo dog" off of the "low-carb" menu which is a hot dog wrapped in bacon and deep fried, a nice perk for our Atkins friendly diners. The breakfast is a steal, for about $3 you can get fried eggs, bacon, grits, toast and who knows what else. However it is the burgers that make the trip over the railroad bridge worth the effort. The place is dirty and dark but that just adds to the whole experience. The staff is always nice. The owner once bought our table a round of drinks when we showed up just because we called to see if they were still serving close to their closing time. The perfect meal to put you to sleep on a lazy Saturday afternoon. Check ahead though, if I recall correctly like many things in Spartanburg, Ike's is closed on Sundays.
