Came in with my parents for a little BBQ during Thanksgiving week. They love it so figured it had to be pretty good. Tuesday is free tea day so started with sweet tea. Got the "Big Un" plate, which is a stacked pork sandwich. Fries and spicy mac n cheese finished off the plate. Pork has very good smoke and flavor, and bun was yummy soft and fresh. Fries were made to order, hot and fresh. Mac and cheese was good also, but could have used a tad more salt. Will definitely come back if I'm visiting up here!

You can't judge a book by its cover. J. B.'s is just a little BBQ joint in a small strip mall next to a Shell station. Typical offerings and sides, but prepared with pride and care by J. B. himself. My Rib and Chopped Pork Combo with two sides for $8.50 was delicious. Their homemade sauce was the finishing touch. I'll definitely come back.

Cute clean and consistent! I count on these guys when I am in a rush and need some good quality BBQ. I have ordered there catering package twice and have been please each time, the portions are great the sides are fresh. I have also dined in twice and had a pleasant experience both times. I enjoy the bbq pork and sides and my husband loves the banana pudding. I hope they stick around for a long time.

I am not impressed. The best thing about our dinner was the sides. I had the rib plate and my wife had the pork sandwich plate. I really enjoy ribs so I have had them at numerous places but these had to be the driest ribs I have ever had. The pork in my wife sandwich was also quite dry. On a bright note, the coleslaw, Sweet potato soufflé and french fries were very good. Both of their sauces were good. The Hot was not to in your face hot. I will give them another try, another day. I might have just caught them on a bad day.

What great bbq. The owners are here cooking and cutting it up every day they are open. Their spicy is spicy like it should be. Great sweet tea, and they have a cruise in every 4th Sunday of the month starting at 11am. Check out my review blog UPstate SC Reviews at paulcape.blogspot.com

Under-Wowed! I'm in Greenville/Upstate quite often and was looking forward to trying this BBQ joint that reopened after several years hiatus. So it must be great, right? Let's see. Value: I spent $7.73 on a pulled pork regular size sandwich plate with two sides and a drink. Free Tea Tuesday so that was a bonus. More than ample sized portion of sides. Tad bit lighter on the pulled pork than some of the other local shacks but still decent portion. Sandwich: *BUN- came on a lightly corn dusted kaiser bun. Bun was dry and immediately began to tear up as soon as I opened to view the main show. *COLE SLAW- little thicker shred than traditional "Carolina" recipes. Cabbage had a nice crunch but not beyond the point of tasting raw. Sweeter mayo, vinegar and sugar profile you come to expect in the region. The slaw was the best part of the meal. *PULLED PORK- I could see some small chunks of smoke ring so I had some expectation of some smokey body. Mellow smoke flavor, dry as the desert, and no seasoning at all. Two flavors I tasted was cooked pork fat and light oak smoke. Extremely disappointed. *POTATO WEDGES AKA FRIES-decent looking product. Lightly seasoned with salt, pepper and a hint of garlic. Fries were the second best part of the meal. Fries couldve stood an extra 30 seconds in the fryer. Several of the fries were had that raw potato crunch. Bet my wallet these are frozen. *SPICY MAC N CHEESE- holy crap. Talking about sucking the moisture out of your mouth. Little water, heavy cream or milk wouldn't be a bad idea. It was so dry you could see the cheese congealing into chunks. Deep orange color I'm guessing from cayenne pepper and had diced pickled jalapeños. Taste besides the dryness, bland. Not even a slight kick. Barely taste the jalapeños. When I say hint of flavor. I mean just a dash after several bites. *HOT BBQ SAUCE-maybe they should rename this as mild red pancake syrup. Thicker sauce with zero heat. *MILD BBQ SAUCE-just straight up sweet. I couldn't tell the difference between this sauce and my Mammas Sweet Tea. *MUSTARD BASE- once again sweet. Hint of mustard. Not as mustardy as the typical midland carolina mustard sauces. To be completely honest. Not too much a difference in the three sauces is texture or flavor. Cleanliness- definitely very clean. You can tell they out a fresh paint job on the walls, new fixtures, and some new equipment. Very pleased. Customer Service- you can tell this is a small family operation. Very friendly when I entered and left. I'm sure they are still working on fixing the kinks in their service because I had several people ask me the same questions and wasn't aware the other person already beat them to the punch. I may try this place again for shiggles, but will be a distant view on my radar.

We picked up a smoked ham for the holidays and our family was floored. They were talking about it days after it was gone so I say it was a hit. This will be our new holiday ham of choice.

Bottom line: Overall average place to go for authentic (but not fantastic) southern pulled pork - no complaints and wouldn't hesitate to go again, but would sooner go to one of the competing BBQ places. Just opened a week or so ago and thought to give it a try. They did a good job cleaning up the old Mojo's that previously occupied the location - it's a clean, nicely decorated place. Staff is friendly, attentive, and clearly still getting their feet wet, but doing well. I just got the pulled pork sandwich since I just wanted to get a measure of how legit the BBQ is, and was not disappointed (such as if it had been "fake" BBQ like that which is sold at a grocery store that you heat up in a microwave) and was not blown away (such as what you get at the Smokin Pig in Clemson). It was real BBQ, and didn't have the deep smoke flavor and char that you get from some places, but it was decent. Would like to see Hush puppies on the sides (I may have missed it), and/or something similar to the sweet potato crunch that local competition offers. Prices and serving size is average - not really big portion, but didn't feel cheated; the "big" portion was $1 more, which I see as fair game. The bun it came on was fresh and better than what I've gotten at the local competition in my opinion. This place is A-OK.

Had the combo plate so I could try both chicken and pork. This is as good as I have found anywhere. Both were moist and tasty and the sauce was terrific. I would recommend it to anyone. Staff was cheerful and eager to serve. It is handy to I-385 and has plenty of parking.

Had two pulled pork bigum sandwich plates with slaw and spicy Mac and cheese. Mac was good (not really spicy) and slaw was different but good. Pulled pork was very moist but that was about all that was going for it. No seasoning from any type of rub or smoke. For some strange reason they don't serve hash or banana pudding (must not realize they are a BBQ joint in SC) they were rude when I asked why they didn't serve hash. Lastly couldn't find any mustard sauce (another have to have in SC) but after seeing other reviews talk about it maybe I just missed it. Will try again in a month or so once some more kinks are worked out. Oh yeah and no brisket?
