Iama Critic Rating - Wendy's - 3 Stars 7478 Augusta Road, Piedmont, SC Overall: Chef Iama Critic and his Five Star Restaurant Reviews crew don't often go out for fast food because we prefer good food over getting it fast. However, with such fierce competition the fast food industry is going all out to improve and survive. Wendy's is obviously one of the top dogs of the fast food chains, and I love their chili, so I decided to see what Wendy's was up too now days. What I found was all my old favorites like the chili, the frosty and the funky square burgers. But I also found their current special sandwiches like the pretzel bun burgers and the Smoked Gouda Cheese Chicken sandwich on a Brioche bun! Yep, that is what you find at fast food dives now days along with some very special and pricey salads. The Service - 3 Stars (0%) Wendy's is a fast food joint so it doesn't offer wait service. But that doesn't mean that service doesn't matter. My cashier was extremely helpful and assisted me in obtaining the cheapest price by making certain items a combo. She definitely went the extra mile and even suggested an item that wasn't on the menu. Fives stars so far. Sadly though, the cashier did not make my order. Instead my order was put together by a woman in the kitchen who was obviously ticked off about something. This young lady was slapping stuff together like a mean old hag and then throwing it into bins like she didn't give a rat's butt what the consequences were. Well I refuse to pay over $8.00 for a burger that is all mashed up, so I told her I was taking pictures of my food and if she prepared my order "like that" she would be making it over and over until she got it right! This no doubt incited her anger even further, but I am not going to suffer just because some so-called chef refuses to make her product correctly. The Food: $6.29 Strawberry Fields Chicken Salad - 4 Stars This salad wasn't even on the menu but my awesome cashier told me I should order it and she was right. This full size salad was chock full of condiments including: a full grilled chicken breast, strawberries, bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, sunflower seeds, blue cheese, and a fancy salad dressing. This salad was as beautiful as it was tasty. The price is just a tiny bit high but that is forgivable. $8.64 3/4lb Triple Burger Combo - 4 Stars This combo was ordered with chili instead of fries and a drink. The chili is no tournament chili but as always this Wendy's chili was top notch. It is easily the best fast food chain chili. It is a little sweet for my preference but it is meaty and has some great flavor. Get some Wendy's hot sauce and spice it up a bit to really let the flavor rock! This Wendy's classic 3/4lb triple patty burger has been on the menu for decades and is for real burger masters who like MEAT! There is so much meat in this burger that the flavor of meat overwhelms the other flavors! And I wouldn't have it any other way. Sadly, as you can see in my photos, my burger was horribly constructed by Ms. Pissed at the World, so my burger fell apart into a messy pile long before I finished. But I had a fork so I was not thwarted! Oorah! $4.89 Smoked Gouda Chicken sandwich - 3 Stars This smoked gouda cheese grilled chicken sandwich came on a brioche bun. The sauce was sweet and interesting. But the sandwich only came with tomato and iceberg lettuce, and really needed a few more items like pickles or bacon. The bun was excellent and the chicken was too, except for the "skin" or "crust" that had formed on the grilled chicken breast. This "skin" may be a consequence of cooking or it may be from age. Either way I didn't care for the crusty texture. Total Bill: $21.41 for one person including tax. This is more than the average person will spend per person at Wendy's. Final Thoughts: Fast food is always a tossup. From one hour to the next you can order the same sandwich and, depending on how miserable the employee is, you either get a sandwich worthy of photos or you get a mashed mess you wouldn't feed to your dog. But my visit to this particular Wendy's, on this particular day, at a particular hour was pretty good. That is, once I made sure that young lady knew who was "The Boss!"
