Alot of places was closed today so I decided on Chinese. Called ahead and ordered Pork fried rice with chicken wings for pickup. This is basically a take out spot, but they do have 2 tables if you want to eat there. Lady at the counter was very nice and friendly. She boxed up my order and I was out the door. At first bite the rice was just average at best, was lacking some flavor. Alot of packets of Soy sauce and hot sauce was needed. The chicken ...... ehhh was ok, it had a lil sweet taste to it and I didn't like that. Nice staff, but I dont think I'll be back, on to the next.....

We really like this place. It is typical Chinese take out but whatever works, right? The people are very pleasant and helpful. I have a ginger allergy and they marked a menu for me with their dishes that do not have ginger. After they marked it, they verified it with the cook. Went above and beyond what was necessary.

I'm from San Francisco and this is not the best Chinese food. The people were nice, but I doubt I will return. Pot Stickers were bland. Egg roll terrible. General's Chicken just ok.

Iama Critic Rating - Chinatown Restaurant - 4 Stars 8024 Augusta Road, Unit C, Piedmont, SC Our Experience: This very small strip mall style Chinese restaurant turned out to be way above expectation. Especially the lunch specials which were extremely good values at only $5.15 each, and they came with white or pork fried rice and an egg roll. At this price my guest critic and I both ordered two entrees assuming they would be rather meager portions. However we were wrong! You won't be going home hungry because the portions and flavor were also very good. Even the presentation was quite nice and we spent very little time preparing the plates for our photos. We would easily rate this as one of the best strip mall Chinese take-out restaurants, even if you stay and dine in! It is not as good as Jasmine Thai Cuisine, but it isn't nearly as expensive either. The Service - 3 Stars (16% tip) Chinatown Restaurant is a "pay first" restaurant that "may" provide very limited wait service. As such, we consider tipping as "optional" and we found no reason for leaving one. However the staff seem to be very nice and helpful when necessary. We typically provide 20% or more for 5 star service on the pre-tax portion of the bill, 18% for 4, 15% for 3, 12% for 2 and 0% for 1 star service. The Food: $5.15 House Special Lo Mein - 4 Stars This lunch special Lo Mein is a real value. I ordered it with pork fried rice instead of white rice and I received an egg roll as well. It was quite flavorful and was perfectly cooked. The egg roll was a step up from average and the pork fried rice was about average. $5.15 Orange Chicken - 4 Stars Another lunch special value w/pork rice and an egg roll. The orange chicken had a nice, but Americanized, heat kick to it. The flavor again was very good and unexpected for a mere $5! $5.15 Chicken w/ Cashew Nuts - 5 Stars For this price this dish is an incredible value and the flavor is outrageously good! I would take this entree over a $5 burger any day of the week! And the dish is as pretty as it is tasty! $8.95 Singapore Chow Mei Fun - 4 Stars This entree was a gorgeous light green and tasted spicy & fantastic! The presentation was very nice as well. Not sure how they got the color, perhaps wasabi, but it was a very pretty and awesome dish. Total Bill: $31.54 for two adults including tax and two soda fountain drinks. This is significantly more than you are likely to spend per person. Final Thoughts: I am not often wrong about restaurants, but Chinatown Restaurant really surprised me. They have the perfect combination of low price, quality flavor and proper portion size. I look forward to future visits and experiencing more of what the menu has to offer.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
