At last visit after renovations, the food was not as good and the prices were higher.

not a huge fan of The Palms. Food is OK, service is OK, atmosphere is OK, nothing fabulous, even for Newberry, but I guess if you want something kind of like Applebees, it'll do. :/

Very good food and excellent service. My glass never got even half empty. Cassandra was our waitress and gave us good suggestions. I had a cheeseburger, baked potato and it was very tasty and cooked exactly as I asked. My son had a great chicken club and husband had flounder sandwich, both of which were good. All in all a great dining experience with great service.

First off let me say, for those of you that do not follow me, very rarely do I venture off the beaten path when I travel. When I am on business I usually hit the Applebee's etc, because I know what I am going to get. In the very laid back town of Newberry SC there are no franchise restaurants except in the fast food department. Upon the recommendation of the front desk clerk at our Holiday Inn she recommended Palm Grill. Knowing that I stay at that hotel numerous times per year, I gave her the benefit of the doubt. I will say that I am extremely happy that I ventured out and gave this place a try. From the time we entered through the door we were greeted by Meagen the hostess with an exceptional smile. I felt at ease immediately thinking that this could be a great southern place to have some good food and great drinks! Ordered a standard sirlion steak med well with garlic mashed potatoes (huge stretch for me right....) The steak was OUTSTANDING! Perfectly done and seasoned to perfection! The reason there is not five stars here is that they serve mashed potatoes out of a bag. Hardly any garlic flavor and bland as h\% l. However, with the perfect steak and the service provided by TJ this place rates a solid 4 stars. I would be compelled to come back on the assurance that TJ would be my server! He is efficient, timely with asking about another drink, and not pushy with getting you to pay a check. He understands a group sitting here drinking is worth more than someone who eats and leaves. Only thing I would ask of this fine establishment is to ditch the bag and take the time to mash some of the potatoes that you already have. It may cost a little more but I certainly would not mind paying an extra dollar to eat real potatos. As usual I did not order desert because there was nothing on the menu less than 1000 calories. This fact was not held against the overall rating of the restaurant. Come here is nothing else other than to be greeted by Meagen and waited on by TJ!

Good restaurant although it was very very crowded on a Saturday. We were just passing through and stopped in Newberry for the night. It felt like this was the only restaurant for miles when we walked in. We waited about 30 min for a table. There were a TON of items on the menu. If you can't find something to eat, then I don't know what restaurant will please you! The service was great. She didn't rush us and was very polite. True southern hospitality. Parking was a little crazy with all the people but we were able to park on the grass in the back. I would recommend, but get there early or make a reservation (I don't know if they do reservations though)!

Poor customer service. After a 1 hour wait, I've now waited over 1 hour for my food. The restaurant is less than 50% capacity. Sub par everything so far. Hopefully the food won't taste like dog poop.

Had the prime rib.... It was OK ... Will come back but definitely will get something else ... Should have went with my first choice (southwestern wrap) sounded really good... My waitress must have been new ... Very nice lady but didn't tell me about the drink special for today ... (She didn't know)... Hopefully my next time will be better

If it were not for yelp, we would not have found this place. Pleasantly surprised at how tasty & enjoyable dinner was. A low-key exterior but definitely a popular place with locals. Always a good sign. Becca - our waitress - was super nice and friendly. It was certainly pricier than fast food but worth it to get real food. Glad we gave it a try!

T.J. was our waiter outstanding service. I ordered the New York strip Steak with loaded baked potato. Absolutely phenomenal. The cook did an excellent job on making it medium-well. The seasoning on the steak was fantastic. Will recommend this restaurant anytime anyone is in Newberry..

This is the 2nd time I have come here and I have to say I will keep coming back! The low country shrimp and grits is unreal. So delicious!!!!! The nachos are amazing with the best cheese sauce!! Service is great.

Second visit to this restaurant, this trip included 2 couples and 1 child, I'll get back to this part, the food is just average nothing to write home about, my wife and I had the Cajun tortellini with shrimp, it was a little too spicy but ok, the garlic bread was just a hot dog bun toasted with garlic butter on it they really could do better! I had the apple pie for dessert and it was pretty good, probably the best part of the meal, now my bitch, the menu said parties of 6 that's SIX not 5 will have the gratuity of 18% added, now I didn't finish college but 5 is less than 6 where I'm from so imagine my surprise when it was added to my bill, you can ask any server that has waited on me I always tip a minimum of 20% but always more if I get good service but I really hate it when I am forced to tip , it make me happy to reward my server and by forcing my hand takes that feeling away, oh but they have a space for added tip, good luck with that!!! You cost your server 2% of my bill had he been above average it would of cost him more!

Stopped here today after a short hike. Very pleasantly surprised - service was unassuming, fast, and friendly, and the food was as described and better than it had to be. If you hike at Lynch's Woods and find yourself thirsty, don't hesitate to stop here for a pint of Fat Tire and a po' boy.

Had lunch there today with our church group. Lunch and service was great. As with most restaurants these days, an 18%gratuity was automatically added to the check since our group was over 6 (we had 15). I do not like this practice; in fact, I do not agree with tipping in general although I do it. Restaurants should be forced to hire and train competent people and pay them a decent wage. That way, you would get good service regardless. Now, to jump down from my soapbox, I recommend this restaurant highly.

Ok so I see a few bad reviews but I had previous good dining experience so I tried again and I must say I was pleased. Friday nite slow start due to busy we had wait at table for drinks but understandable... I got broiled seafood platter it was tasty and right temperature and five stars...friend had ny strip which was cooked perfectly. My gf likes it same way medium well to well and brown juices... it seldom comes out right. this steak was cooked perfectly and here's a photo to make her jealous. As to the complaint about smoke... Here visiting mom who is on oxygen and first time she came with no complaint. This time we in bar at booth and though I saw a smoker at bar feet away I did not smell it...

Have been eating here regularly for almost three years now. When I say regularly, I mean 1-2 times per week. They used to have a great salad bar but got rid of this to create more seating. The review from Matt D was mostly accurate until about a year ago when they went "semi-smoke-free". I say this because it is smoke free until after 9 pm, where you can then smoke at the bar. The food is actually very good, especially the chef specials. The main chef (Stuart) whom I don't actually know personally, is great with steaks and marinades. On occasion they serve a higher end marinaded ribeye (about 20 oz) for 29.95 which rivals any ribeye I have had from Ruth Chris. The seafood is good as are the sandwiches. Highly recommend this place with one exception. The service is inconsistent. There are several servers who make up the "old guard" but many of the servers are new and quite frankly suck.
