A work friend introduced us to the Turtle Shell. It doesn't look like much on the inside but what it lacks in decor it surely makes up for in terms of service and friendliness. When we entered the restaurant someone actually opened the door for us! This doesn't happen often and a very good first impression. I had a hard time deciding between the shrimp po boy or the buffalo chicken sandwich. I decided on the buffalo chicken. What came out was a very generous serving. I was afforded the choice between blue cheese dressing on the sandwich or ranch. Blue cheese it was! Instead of fries I went with the house salad with Italian dressing. Sandwich was fresh and nice and crunchy but really good. The salad was fresh crispy and good n tasty! For me, I'd rather support a restaurant such as this where you can tell they are trying to make their livelihood than a major chain! After leaving the young girl opened the door for us also when departing! Very nice touch! Come support this place, great down home food and I'd like to see it prosper! Well done!

When your liking for great food in a casual atmosphere, The Turtle Shell is the place. The service is phenomenal, Harrison is an awesome bartender. He greeted us at the door and served us at the bar. We had onion rings as an appetizer. They were plentiful and crispy. The dipping sauce was really good. My beautiful wife had the chicken quesadilla as her entree. It was huge and she loved it. My bacon cheeseburger was great and the fries are unique and delicious. We WILL be returning SOON!!! If you're in the area, stop by.

Good food, great staff. Definitely a place I'd return to. I only tried a burger, but it was very good, cooked properly to order and served on a nice brioche bun. Fries were good too. They have Thomas Creek Red in bottles, so I had a great burger, great beer and great service. Atmosphere is kind of of the 'generic 10 yr old bar' variety, so I wouldn't take a first date here, but for a night out with the family, you can't go wrong. I wouldn't hesitate to try some of the other menu items.

The Turtle Shell was fun. They have a wide variety of menu options including burgers, steaks, pasta and seafood. After dinner we stuck around and played darts for a while. They also have several pool tables.

Iama Critic Rating - The Turtle Shell - 4 Stars 306 North Main Street, Mauldin, SC Our Experience: This trip to the Turtle Shell saw our party swell to four people and we had the same experience as our last trip, great service, great food and prices that are a bit painful, but are offset by really spectacular flavors and presentations. The Service - 5 Stars (20% tip) Our waiter was social, helpful and extremely competent. He made sure every dish put on our table was reasonably ready for pictures, so I didn't spend five minutes each cleaning up the chef's mess. I am my three guests voted and determined that we receive five star service which is extremely rare so we left a 20% $14.75 tip. We typically provide 20% or more for 5 star service on the pre-tax portion of the bill, 18% for 4, 15% for 3, 12% for 2 and 0% for 1 star service. The Food: Side Salad - 3 Stars This little side salad is just too plain for me, just not enough condiments. $5.99 Death By Chocolate & Peanut Butter - 5 Stars $6 is a bit steep for the portion but the presentation is fantastic and the flavor as exactly what you would expect with enough sweetness to put you in a diabetic coma. Fabulous but expensive desert. $8.49 Cheeseburgers Sliders - 4 Stars There is a reason why David Ramsey always recommends that restaurants serve slider. And this because they are easy, taste great and make the restaurant a ton of money. At two dollars a pop these burger are mighty expensive but they are mighty good too. $7.99 BLT - 4 Stars My guest chose a BLT and ordered it with steamed veggies! I guess she is striving for healthy. It would not be my choice but she loved it! $7.99 Loaded Fries - 4 Stars This is another expensive appetizer that tastes and looks fabulous. The fries have a unique shape and great flavor. I don't even like fries but I loved these. As a side item these are five stars, but four stars as an appetizer. $8.99 Chicken Cordon Blue Sandwich - 4 Stars This beautiful sandwich came with some of those awesome curly fries and a great hollandaise sauce. $10.00 Spaghetti & Meatballs - 3 Stars I am all for luxury spaghetti but $10 is a mighty steep price for this smallish portion. However the presentation is great and the flavor is top notch. Total Bill: $93.94 for four adults including tax, a generous tip and two soda fountain drinks. Final Thoughts: Our Turtle Shell bill only included 6% tax, in Greenville the tax is 8%. So just by eating at The Turtle Shell you get a 2% discount!

Great burger, cooked medium, just like I asked. Servers were always available and quick to respond. The menu is pretty large but we stuck to burgers are we were not disappointed. We'll go back and try some other options later. Good kids menu selections, too.

Wow what a great surprise when we stopped by to have a bite to eat. The service was wonderful, the staff was very enjoyable, the food was perfect. Enjoyed some cocktails, watched some sports and all agreed it was a fantastic place to come back anytime.
