Stopped here for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised, as this place was as good as the New York bagel shops I love. Bagels with egg and cheese were yummy and the steak, egg and cheese roll was scrumptious!! I highly recommend this place.

Great Philly Cheese Steak Sub. Regular size is more than enough for most people. Can't imagine eating their large. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Place is also very clean. Large selection of both hot and cold subs. Large salads big enough for two.

I have to confirm the reviews that say the Philly and the chicken, bacon cheese (#18) subs are great. Well seasoned, well cooked and large portions for great prices. The sub rolls that they have there is just perfect. I don't love really crusty bread when biting into a large sandwich but this was soft and a nice vehicle for the other fabulous ingredients. Found this place on Yelp, otherwise I would have never chanced it but glad I did. My boyfriend and I were heading home from a conference in Myrtle Beach. When we pulled up, the parking lot was almost filled and there were people crowded around eating at the one or two outside table(s). It made me a little nervous when walking in the door, a local and apparently a regular customer laughed aloud at us when we called him Sir while thanking him for holding he door. But it appears to be a very small town, and this place thrives off its regulars. Luckily we continued in to the counter and placed our orders. All 4 people we saw working were really working hard. I loved the fact that when they got backed up, the man working the grill stepped up and started taking orders. They have a honey mustard sauce that I suggest everyone at least sample. The vegetables that they had available to put on the subs looked and tasted fresh down to the dill pickle spear. Some of the choices were banana peppers, sliced red onion, jalapeños, fresh green bell pepper, shredded lettuce and sliced tomatoes. They offer both fountain and canned sodas. I had a white chocolate macadamia cookie which was soft and nummy (yes, nummy). Once they slowed down a bit, the staff came over to check on us, knowing that it was our first time there, and talked to us for a few moments. Within a half hour, the restaurant all but cleared out and there was almost no one in the parking lot. These guys will get you in, out and on your way. Unfortunately, they will not deliver to West Virginia. For those of you who live nearby, they have a stamp card deal for frequent fliers. Although I don't think we will be using it, I am certain that I would if I lived close by.

Came here for the first time as I was working locally. A friend/coworker stated they were good. Went in and got chicken salad on a roll with cheese. The gentleman took the roll and put it on a sheet of whatever paper. He then proceeded to grab the cheese with his dirty fingernails wearing no gloves. As he passed the roll on to the girl to complete the order she also was not wearing any gloves. She took the sandwich and put on some more of my requested toppings and went on to cutting it in half on a cutting board. As the chicken salad started to fall out of the bun from it being squished down, she picked in up with her fingers and showed it back in the sandwich. Seeing all this I still continued to eat as I was hungry. The food was ok I guess. But really kind of a dirty place. Putting gloves on would have made a huge difference as I'm sure it has to be in the books of sanitary law for any restaurant or a food place.

Great people, great sandwiches, and the roll is so good. We have ordered here numerous times both for take out and eat in. They also make a homemade hot sauce that my hubby loves. Customize your sandwich or order from the board either way you will love it. Best sandwich place for miles! YUMMY!

You won't eat a chain store sub again. These are as close as you can get to a white House (NewJersey) in the south east. Ample meat sliced to order . The regular will be more than enough forthe typical subway footlong eater. They remind this Yankee of home in a most unlikely small southern Town. The place is typical of a sub shop with booths to sit at , and a tiny little bathroom, but the 'plain' interior is a small price to pay for such great sandwiches. Once before I had their antipasto salad which was chuck full of italian meats, peppers and vegetables. It was a truly an antipasto not some shredded lettuce with ham and salami thrown on top. I have not tried their breakfast , but have heard it too is hearty and excellent Price might seem a bit high when you first go in, 6.00 for a regular but trust me , this is better than any foot long you will get at a chain store. The Giant will feed a family of 3-4 with no issue.

Stopped on the way back from Murrell's Inlet....solid, solid Cheesesteak (both chicken and philly)!!! Will be back again.

I have eaten at American Hero for over 10 years. I try to eat there any time I come to Loris (I live in Greenville, SC now). I still haven't eaten a better sub sandwich ANYWHERE!! The chicken Philly, Philly cheese-steak, and #18 are all outstanding. The regular size sandwich is filling but if you're absolutely starving order a GIANT. For price, quality and taste of food, there isn't a better sub shop around.
