If you are fortunate enough to find the location, then you will be amazed at the beauty inside. It is a white tablecloth, elegant, pristine, chic and spotless venue. The service is off the chart friendly! (I mean seriously you don't get more friendly.) They are really passionate about the quality of their food and all of the staff members were up to snuff on their ingredients and unique food offerings. Actually "unique" would be the optimal word to describe this place so if you are looking for something different then look no further. On the other hand, they do not offer any vegetarian items (and don't have anything available on hand to accommodate even a lacto-ovo vegetarian) and the only healthy items on their menu was a plain salad. Everything else is butter, mayo, cream, fried, sodium laden, etc. However this is traditional Cajun cooking. So personally I won't be able to eat there, but I will definitely return to have some drinks (decent drink menu) at the gorgeous bar just to enjoy the atmosphere and service.

Finally, good creole food in the Midlands! Reasonably priced and a place I have already recommended to several folks.

Yum, yum, yum!!! I went there with my parents, who are in from Chicago, for the first time this evening. We reserved a table on OpenTable (because we could, not because we needed to) and found the house/restaurant easily -- if you're looking for it. We were seated in one of the front rooms away from the bar. There was a great ambiance that felt cozy. We ended up talking to the people around us throughout the night, which brings additional entertainment. We ordered the egg rolls, which had a great flavor while the crab cakes fell apart since there was more crab than breading. What a rarity! The sauce had an excellent flavor that complimented the cakes. For dinner, we were sold on the ribeye. We went in for more traditional Cajun food but when our server, Johnny, explained the specials. This was FANTASTIC! We all had the ribeye, creamy mashed potatoes, and fresh green beans with spices. What a meal! They seat the steak on a hot cast iron pan before baking it in the oven. It was awesome! In addition, the sides were so tasty they could have been a meal in itself especially since the green beans were locally grown and tasted fresh. Everyone in the room murmured their appreciation of good food even though we all had something different. Excellent food, service, drinks, and everyone (including a part-owner as well as the cook who both visited our table) was enthusiastic about good food! Private Property is highly recommended! Don't forget to grab a martini while you're at it! The Mardi Gras was my beverage of choice!

We found this place while searching for Cajun food in the area. Our meal was fabulous. My boyfriend had the jambalaya and I had the Mardi Gras pasta. We also had the crab cakes for our appetizer. Everything from the ambiance, food, and server was top notch. Can't wait to go back!

Dined here on Saturday night with a group of 6. First of all, this place is SO cute! It reminded me of Charleston because it is an old house that has been flipped into a restaurant. There are multiple private dining areas, big and small, as well as a small private bar. We were sat right away in the back room by the window. We ordered drinks; I got one of the special martinis that was really good! To eat I ordered the Seafood Jambalaya that came with andouille and shrimp over a bed of rice, it was spicy and fantastic! For my first jambalaya experience I'd say they hit it out of the park. The rice was creamy, there was plenty of vegetables and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the shrimp and grits which were also delicious, the tasso cream sauce was different than any tasso sauce I've had, it was divine. The grits were incredibly creamy and so yummy. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals and I cannot wait to go back! I don't know if the back was open when we went but we would love to sit out there!

Really enjoyed lunch here. Very friendly staff even if there weren't enough people working on a busy Friday. Food was nicely done. Pasta dish was the best we had. Drinks took ages, but being friendly made up for the delays and over crowding. Looking forward to trying dinner some time.

Food this good often evokes a kind of hyper-critical mentality, where reviewers resolve to find a flaw with anything in the preparation or presentation to impress upon other Yelpers what an extraordinary amount of culinary erudition they possess. STFU and eat this food. You'll be glad you did. In total, we had the fried pimento cheese with crushed pecans (so savory and tasty, spread upon the most delicately buttered & toasted Leidenheimer bread) spare ribs (very peppery, maybe a little overcooked but good) crawfish etouffée (delightfully spicy) seafood gumbo (over rice, one bite and it was bliss, but I had to take this home), Cajun egg roll (a gift from another table- delightful and also taken home) Seafood Jambalaya (with Andouille sausage and shrimp, running out of superlatives) bread pudding (no raisins, nice texture, not too sweet, gorgeous glaze) pralines again, not overly sweet. However, the star of the evening for me was the shrimp and grits. I've never had grits like this and the shrimp/sausage combination was so sublime, I wish to be buried in it (in them?) and eat my way out...thrice, at least. I risk public shame and ridicule because, of all things, I chose the most humble menu item to extol. I would gladly die a martyr proclaiming the Gospel of these grits. The service was personable and the bill surprisingly modest. Unless you have a personal chef that cooks for Martha Stewart or can only consume 700 calories a day, get over here before there's a monthly waiting list and the Food Channel has the road blocked off.

Beautiful and charming inside and out! We had the shrimp and grits, which were the best I've ever had, and the shrimp po boy, which was good, but not as good as the shrimp and grits!

We've been looking for a local place to bring visiting out of town guests. This is the place. Excellent food, great customer service, and a perfect location for a special lunch or dinner.

Good Cajun & Creole food. We were told one of the owners is from Louisiana, so food is the real deal. Just don't expect much from the wait staff. Our young waitress was clearly thrown out there with little to no training. Be patient and try not to let this be a distraction your party.

Had the crab cakes as a lunch special. Plenty of crab and the sauce was really spicy but very good. Fortunately the sauce was served on the side. Restaurant has a different layout due to the nature of the building. The service was excellent.

Delicious! I had Shrimp and Grits two of the three times I visited. I love the atmosphere.. They even had Purple Haze, which is one of my very favorite beers! The first time I had an early dinner, and sat at the bar.. The bartender was friendly and funny. Great conversation. I have recommended Private Property to several friends and was eager to brag about it after my first visit. It's one of those hidden places, you want to tell everyone about.

Private Property is one of the best local restaurants in the Lexington area. I have dined there 3 times. I even had my birthday dinner there! The owner was very accommodating for my birthday dinner. He even offered to create a custom menu for my dinner. The gator bites are delicious as well as the pasta dishes. Highly recommend this restaurant. Is it like being in NOLA? No, but the food will blow you away. Delicious.

The food was good. Service was lacking, we got our salad with the meal. It also took a long time to get our food. We definitely will try again, especially when the weather gets nicer and we can sit outside. Maybe they where short staffed today?

I believe this was one of my favorite meals ever. We had a couple of Hurricanes which were great. A little strong for me, but I don't believe anyone else would probably complain about that. Started with the Cajun Popcorn, which is fried crawfish tails. So very tender and full of flavor. My entree was the Oyster Jambalaya. OMG. Fried oysters on top of sausage and shrimp jambalaya. Good Lord was it good. And such a generous amount, I brought plenty home for lunch. My date had a cajun spiced steak. I had a few bites of it and it actually melted in my mouth. Our waiter was the best. He was a cutie that was full of personality. We sat outside in the backyard. They have lights strung overhead and it was just a beautiful atmosphere. It actually felt like I was back in New Orleans in a little courtyard. We had quite a wait, so a reservation is best. Enjoy!! ********Additional Note: I will add that the hostess told us that since we did not have a reservation that it would be an hour or more until we could even be seated, if at all. Seemed like she was trying to get us to leave. I'm glad we didn't do that! It was nowhere near that length of time.

We're new to the area and were driving around when we found this place. Wonderful decor. I had the voodoo burger which had a great combination of peppers. Service was a bit slow, but overall a pleasant experience.

Went for lunch. The shrimp poboy was excellent. Service was good and attentive, though felt very matter of fact and a bit awkward. Definitely recommend...if you can find it.

Had the crawfish St. Charles and it was really good. Had the BBQ shrimp appetizer and loved it. Very messy but tasty. The atmosphere is really nice too. Definitely a great find.

Into the SC Capital of Fast Food Restaurants comes a breath of hope. This is a non-franchise, made-from-scratch, family-owned, honest-to-goodness good place to eat to downtown Lexington - which means you should should frequent it and try to breathe life into the depressing restaurant scene in this town. This is good food. It's cajun influenced by people who know that doesn't just mean spicy hot. And most of all - they use Leidenheimer bread for their po-boys. That one fact alone should jolt you from your seat. It means if you want to try an authentic New Orleans po-boy outside of NOLA, here's your chance. I had the fried shrimp one. I also was impressed that they smoke the pork for their bbq sliders on a Big Green Egg, and the SC mustard based bbq sauce is first rate. Next time I go I think I'm going to get the bbq on the Leidenheimer bread. As Shoeless Joe Jackson asked Ray Kinsella in "Field of Dreams" - "Is this heaven?" The premises are beautiful. My Lexington native wife says it used to be used for wedding receptions, etc. For some reason, it has no sign out front (or anywhere). It's the stunning white house across from the BOA building on Main Street between the courthouse and Hwy 378. It has plenty of parking in the rear and some outdoor seating. Citizens of Lexington - heed my call. You have a gem of a place in your midst. Don't let it die like all the other non-fast food places in this town.

Went in for lunch after being told about this unmarked business. They are new to the area and food was good even with a small menu. Had the Gator Burger and the Soup of the Day which was corn chowder which was really good and both had perfect spice. Small lunch and dinner menu (and smaller beer selections, too) and perfect portion size. Will be returning later this week while in town!

I really wanted to love this place. And while they are a solid 3, even a 3.4, there was nothing exceptional about my dining experience. The building is a beautiful historic home that is sparsely and ineffectively decorated. The wait staff were friendly and knowledgeable. My party had the shrimp and grits and jambalaya. The jambalaya was quite flavorful - not the best I've had but fairly authentic. It had plenty of shrimp and sausage. However, when I asked for hot sauce, I was presented with Tobasco sauce. Really?!? In an "authentic" Cajun restaurant. The shrimp and grits consisted of a large helping of grits with a tiny portion of shrimp and gravy. I'm a bit of a shrimp and grits connoisseur. I've sampled this delicacy across the country, and this dish was mediocre at best. It wasn't bad, but it was too simple (and I normally love simple dishes) and lacking in seafood and seasoning. Also, for a Cajun restaurant, I was surprised not to find standard dishes such as étouffée. The menu seemed rather dumbed down. I understand making food accessible, but this menu bordered on pandering. They did have a fabulous drink menu, all reasonably priced. I would give this new restaurant another shot but with significantly lowered expectations.

Went last night for the first time, and was pretty impressed. After moving to South Carolina from Baltimore, I've been missing the local "hidden gem" type places so Private Property was right up my alley. All the food was delicious. The baked pecan encrusted pimento cheese appetizer that was on special was fantastic. Prices are very reasonable as well. We will definitely be back.

As of most places that serve Cajun food outside New Orleans they fall a little short and this place is one of them. I'm not saying I wouldn't come back here for a second lunch or anything I just wasn't blown away by the Jambalaya and smoked gator sausage today. It didn't have enough flavor going or the spice to life I enjoy when eating creole food. The place definitely has a nice wait staff and a cool location in Lexington off of west main. But I was hoping for more, maybe I will come back and try something different next month.

This restaurant delivers both an en excellent menu of authentic New Orleans signature dishes and southern hospitality in a charming spacious setting. The quality of the food was excellent and tasteful and beautifully presented. We chatted with the owners and their excitement and passion for what they are bringing to Lexington SC was refreshing. We will definitely be coming back.

Not only is this great cajun/creole, this is great food. I went for lunch and at first I was worried because there wasn't many people there. My worries were soon put to rest. Everything about the place was wonderful. They don't have a sign and it's very easy to cruise on by and have no idea you just passed an amazing restaurant. Whoever drives on by is missing out. Don't let that be you!

Decided to take a chance on this big White House with the Open sign in the window. Turned out to be a restaurant. The only signage is at the entrance from the side street. Beautiful house and grounds. Menu has a definite Cajun flavor. I had the blackened ribeye. My wife tried the shrimp jambalaya. Both were very good. Cajun flavors are definitely there but not overpowering. We will be back and will recommend it. Not your average place to eat.

Finally tried this place and can't believe I waited this long to do so. The food is awesome. I've tried both the gator burger and oyster Po boy so far and was impressed with both. Their wings are really good as well. In addition they have a pretty good beer selection that is sure to please any taste.

When have I had a "gator burger" last? Oh yah, never! From my first sip of "game day punch" to the last bite of the brownie/ice cream dessert it was wonderful. The gator burger was more like a large sausage patty than a hamburger but still very tasty. The slaw topping was my favorite part I think. The waitress was helpful with activity and food suggestions while we were visiting the area.

ONE OF THE TOP 10 RESTAURANTS in Columbia, SC. We just tried it tonight for our wedding anniversary. Having grown up in the New Orleans area I can tell you that their food is the real deal. It brought back good memories of the times got together with the family to enjoy a good cup of gumbo or a po-boy while we talked about the Saints or LSU. The shrimp po-boy was excellent. Their gumbo was as well. We also tried the alligator bites and they were some of the best I have ever had, and that is including some good restaurants in Louisiana. We also enjoyed the Jambalaya which had a little kick! Nothing to worry about! Their pasta St. Charles, with crawfish was phenomenal! On top of that, their location is absolutely beautiful. Their main dining rooms were well decorated and their ambiance was great. Their outdoor patio reminded us of the many courtyards you find in many of the old restaurants in the French Quarter. We will certainly be back to enjoy their football watching parties when the season begins...Geaux Tigers!

Very impressed with the courteous service. Extremely welcoming although having quite a few large parties that night and we walked in later (like 8:30). The sausage platter is delicious, will come back to buy bulk for a shrimp boil. Only bummer about the sausage platter is that the sausage was not differentiated by the waitress telling us or it being marked so we did not know which one we like the best. Food was great. Had the shrimp and grits while the husband had the penne. The sauce on both was the same, but very tasty. I had a hurricane which was syrupy sweet, but maybe I am not sure what they actually taste like any more since im usually a beer girl. Speaking of beer, the selection is very nice. Husband had the Moosehead. Tasty all around. Will be taking people here.

This place was a lot of fun. Great food, Norman is awesome. Great atmosphere. Server knowledge was lacking, but owner made up for it. I miss living in New Orleans so this made me feel like home.

Excellent food and service. I have eaten her twice and it's now my new go to place when I am in town on Business. the food is fresh and delicious. I highly recommend the Mardi-Gras Pasta and the Seafood Jambalaya. I look forward to trying other items on the menu. The gator bits were nothing special. I would love to see them add new Orleans BBQ Shrimp to the menu, it would be a home run. The food is FRESH, FRESH, FRESH!

Great food! The gumbo was my favorite. The service was awesome as well. I ordered the seafood jambalaya and it was really good. My husband got the shrimp and grits and I must say it's one of the best around. The shrimps in both dishes were very big and cooked just right. My boys shared a shrimp po-boy with a pasta side salad. They enjoyed it as well. Portions were perfect. Must check it out! I am very excited to have a non chain restaurant come into Lexington! I will be a regular for sure.

We were visiting and saw and yelp this was a good restaurant. Since we love Cajun we decided to try. I got jambalaya and it was excellent. My husband got shrimp creole and love it. We order the swamp tacos and loved them too. The menu is limited to Cajun but worth a 5 star. I Can't wait to come back to eat here again

Cool location in a historic house, look for the neon open sign in the window as that is the only signage.......otherwise you may think it is a residence. Friendly service, decent prices and enjoyed the seafood gumbo although additional seafood variety beyond shrimp would make it better (just shrimp and a few types of sausage as is now).

  • Michael Y.

Shrimp and grits were on point. So was the gumbo. This place is an authentic creole restaurant. Good food and good service. Our waiter told us they are planning to do craw fish when they are in season. Would definitely go back.
