Lizard's Ticket is the poster child for southern casual cuisine. I took my wife there on her second visit to SC, and she absolutely loved it. The portions are large and the variety is fantastic. You have tons of selection for the sides, so you can have a different meal every time you go. The service is usually very pleasant and prompt. The exception is if you happen to go at the major meal times, they don't seem to adjust the wait staff accordingly. Parking is plentiful, and the location is fantastic.

I was completely grossed out by the look of the place as I entered. It is old and grimy and in dire need of updating and redecorating. Our server looked like a former meth addict, but was nice. The food was okay, but nothing spectacular to me. I did like the fried okra. My view of the restaurant may be tainted because of my first impression. It would behoove the owners of this establishment to remodel, quickly.

Ordered the meat and three. Country fried steak, mashed potatoes, green beans and mac n cheese. There was nothing crunchy or fried about my "steak" first of all. It was just a soggy mess of bread crumbs. The mac n cheese was way too salty for my liking as was the gravy. The mashed potatoes had a good consistency, but I did not enjoy them with the gravy. The green beans were ok, very plain. It was a lot of food for under $10 but the quality and flavor is seriously lacking. I was told this was the place to go for great, authentic southern food so perhaps my expectations were too high but I will not be returning.

I took the family here a couple weeks ago, based on the reviews I read on yelp. Unfortunately the reviews did not match the reality. I ordered country fried steak and gravy. It had about one tablespoon of gravy. I had to ask for more. The steak was good though. I had collard greens. They tasted like they were out of a can. I was not offered a choice of bread by the waitress. I was brought sweet cornbread, I had expected biscuits. The fried apples had a strange taste to them, I could not identify, similar to cloves? It was not cinnamon. I could not eat them. None of the others at the table liked their meals.

I have lived in SC for four years now and have yet to try Lizard's Thicket. Most people that I know and have eaten there have said that Lizard's Thicket is so-so, but wanted to give it a try. Since it was only going to be me frequenting the restaurant, I decided to try the drive-through. Waited a few minutes (was second or third in line) had pulled up to order only to find out what I wanted to order was going to be a 15 minute wait. Should there be orders on stand-by? There was not anything else on the menu I wanted to try. Maybe if I had dined inside, my thoughts would be different.

Food tonight was better than normal. Unfortunately they are now closing at 9 PM and I thought they closed at 10 PM last year. They still gave me a good meal and good service even though that was only 15 minutes left until closing. For that I'm thankful. I believe this location tries a little harder than some of the Lizard Thickets but most of them are quite good. I prefer the country style steak with some possible to find other places. The mashed potatoes are excellent the green beans are good and the carrot raisin salad tastes very fresh. With ice tea and rolls the entire package was still under $10. This is a very good value compared to some places which have inside dining, proper China , and silverware.

I've yet to have a bad meal here. The food is always fresh and the service is always fast. They even have a drive thru option if you don't feel like sitting down inside.

Now look, I'm not a born Southern girl by ANY means... but this place, and location really, it is my childhood. I remember being short and young and being very enthused to be here, and drinking an entire pitcher of sweet tea by mself! THis was a every meal type of place on vacations. Fav Side? Mac and Cheese You just can't top their Mac and Cheese - it's always perfect and when it is really warm it rivals some California gourmet stuff I've had! Fav Meat? Catfish I just can't get Catfish here that's good like down in SC!

Better than Cracker Barrel. Whole family enjoyed it, loved the bacon, wife liks the grits. Local told us to go and it was good. They have a drive thru.

Absolutely without a doubt best sear on the liver puddin, that couples with slow cooked grits and eggs what a way to start the day
