The buffet is hit and miss as to quality. Don't try and ask a question as the staff looks at you like you fell out of a tree. The Q is average for Williamsburg County Q - you can get better.

Relocated from northern Indiana recently and couldn't have been introduced to southern hospitality/cooking at a better place.

No wonder the South Carolina BBQ Association ranks them as one of the best in the state. Not only do you get some of the best BBQ but you get fantastic portions of it. A lot of people claim that Bessingers is the best in the state, I have never had it but they are going to have to be damn good to beat Browns. Pork: the pork is fantastic. Juice, spicy, sweet, and everything that pulled porn BBQ should be. Turkey: the turkey has a fantastic smoke flavor with a sauce that has just the right amount of kick and sweetness to it. Something I love with my poultry is sweetness in the sauce Friend chicken: FANTASTIC! Some of the best I have ever had. Juicy and crispy in all the right spots. Side dishes: I tried the mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, coleslaw, pilau, and red rice and I have no complaints. Not a single thing I had was bad and I would eat it all over again every chance I got.

The BBQ is sub-par. Of course, I'm biased because I was raised on REAL BBQ cooked with oak and hickory coals. A dying art form. The Brown method is gas cooked, then sauced with just vinegar and pepper. Hardly any smoked flavor. But if you (like most BBQ diners) have no idea what real BBQ is, then you'll probably love this place. The sides are their selling point. The yams are bright orange and not overly sweet. The dressing is the best I've ever had. The BBQ gravy and brown gravy are to die for. But, if you want something truly special and unique to this restaurant (around here anyway), try the Philly Cheesesteak! Don't be shy....go ahead and order it 'all the way'. Choose fries AND onion rings as your side and PIG out. I dare you to finish it all! A bit pricey, but then again, this restaurant is sort of a tourist trap. Overall, an asset to Kingstree.

We had heard great things about Brown's, but we came away disappointed. My wife and I have been enjoying a summer "BBQ tour" of BBQ places within an hour or two from our home in Mt. Pleasant. Between June 9, 2012 and Saturday (June 30), we have visited 8 different locations. The experience has been eye-opening. When you get to sample that much BBQ in such a short amount of time, you can really compare products. We have been writing at length about our experiences after each visit ( destination-bbq.com ). Brown's simply was bad on the day we visited. They have a great selection on the buffet, but our focus is always about the BBQ itself. If you are not going for the BBQ, then you'll be fine. In our case, both the pulled pork BBQ and the ribs were so ladened with vinegar that you could have called them pickled. Mind you, we love vinegar/pepper based BBQ; in fact, this "tour" of ours has proven that vinegar/pepper is our preferred sauce, but with Brown's all you could taste was the vinegar. No other layers of flavor. Maybe we caught them at a bad time, but would we drive back just for their food? The unanimous answer was no.

Excellent Bar B Que, best I have ever had. Lots of other vittles available if you don't like Bar B Que. Now note this ain't no Texas style bar b que, where a bad cut of beef is overcooked and then cover with sauce to hide what has happened, It ain't no chicken wing sauce either. This is pork, cooked perfectly and marinated in Vinegar pepper sauce. You can't see sauce on the pork, but you can taste it with no problem.

The food is good plenty of options. Staff is always nice. I use to eat there a lot growing up and still stop by from time to time.

Southern all you can eat BBQ. The buffet has pretty good selection of food. Some veggies are a little salty to my taste. The pulled pork is on the peppery side. It is good thou but you need a big glass of tea to cool the mouth off. They have liver hash yuk. They sell home grown watermelon which is very good.

Hand's down my all time favorite barbeque. Just spicy enough and juicy. Love to get the buffet and feast on the bbq, chicken, and macaroni and cheese!! LOVE this place!
