This is a great place for a quick lunch. The sandwiches are microwaved, but the "Formula" sauce on top is amazing. I generally avoid getting cheese on the sandwiches because it doesn't always melt prior to being served. Sweet tea is perfect here! On the cons, I think this location is overdue for a remodel. Overall, the restaurant itself feels very "worn". It also gets pretty crowded here on Sundays, and during the holidays due to the proximity to Harbison Blvd.

Grouchos is a columbia tradition and the branches are all consistent. Hey have the best club in town and formula 45 is addictive.

When I'm craving a hearty sandwich out in Irmo this is my spot to chow down. Order the STP ok don't even mess around, it has turkey and roast beat on a heated hoagie roll topped with melted cheese. Then you get to dip in a pinkish sauce known as 45 sauce. It rolls the sandwich all into one satisfying your hunger pains. Dip it over and over in the sauce until it is no more ! Joking aside Groucho's has been around quite sometime and it has great customer service and a wide variety of sandwiches and subs to choose from here. Wouldn't bother with the salads as I heard they were just ok to eat. Stick with the sandwiches.

Stopped on a road trip. Service was quick. The "famous" sauce we found kind of blah. Turkey was fresh. Hubby's rye bread was good, my wheat roll so-so. Chips also blah. Not bad, not memorable.

I know this is sort of a landmark in Columbia, and I don't completely get it. I do, however, think it's decent food. The sandwiches are pretty good, but they all seem to be microwaved. I really don't think the sandwiches are much different than what I'd make at home, but then again that's the reason I'm eating out in the first place - because I'm too lazy to make food at home. Anyway, the service is always pretty good, food comes out quick, but the brad is a little too chewy (likely from being microwaved) and the cheese is usually halfway-melted, and the meat is typically cold in the middle if they don't microwave it long enough. Ultimately, I think a place like Firehouse Subs is a better choice if you're craving a hot sub. I will say that Groucho's has some really tasty cookies, and that's A-OK with me!

Good food in an inconvenient location. The Reuben was as good as I've eaten. The smiling young servers were efficient and friendly. All in all, if hungry at this particular interstate exit, I'm going to Groucho's.

Great place for a deli sandwhich with chips. nothing too fancy. they got great sandwhich combinations with their special sauces and side of chips. I got Chicken Critter sandwhich with their "45" sauce (aka horseradish). Definitely would go back there again if ever am in Columbia again

I don't care what anyone says, microwave or not, this place is delicious and amazingly priced. Plus they stock Dr. Browns rootbeer, birch beer, and cream soda, j own can you go wrong? Being a Yankee I'm a suckered for a hot kosher pastrami and swiss on seeded rye with whole grain mustsrd, which grouchos dished out an impressive one, lots of meat, almost knife and fork worthy. There clubs are something to look at too seeing as how I struggle to put down even half of there turkey and bacon club triple decket. Then we come to they're signature sandwiches such as the STP, Apollo, Coles special, White and Brown Moose, all served on seeded white or wheat fat sub rolls with THICK melted cheese and various toppings, served with a cup of they're tangy formula 45 dipping sauce and a bag of their delicious groucho's brand chips and a kosher dill dpear. In my mind this is the perfect in and out lunch spot with multiple locations across the midlands to serve you, a must try. Did I mention the boxed lunches and catering specials are perfect for all size events, from you're business luncheons to you're little league after psrties. -Ryan C.

Great food. Decent service. Will always come back! The Apollo is my favorite. Husband loves the stp. My daughter can't get enough of the pickles.

Hit this up while on a business trip and it hit the spot. Hot, gooey, melts, steamy goodness between a sub roll with tons of different sauces to dip in. Atmosphere is bland, almost like a cafeteria, but the food and service makes up for it. Try the "45" sauce. It's also a bit confusing as to how the seating/ordering works when you first walk in, but you just roll up, grab a table, the menus are already waiting on the table, the waitress will roll up, take drink orders, then you're off on a ride through sandwich bliss. Make sure you buckle up.

A Columbia tradition!!! Awesome deli sandwiches and salads! Be sure to try the STP!!!

The worst sandwiches around. The bacon on my BLT was burnt beyond recognition. The other sandwiches are inferior to other sandwich shows around. Been there 2 or 3 times and am not going back.

One of my favorite food joints in the Columbia area. I always get the STP Dipper. When ordering an STP Dipper, you must eat it right away, while it's still hot and melty.

My son and I love Groucho's and go here every time we pass it on our way to watch the Gamecocks or going to the beach. Our favorite is the STP Dipper with the 45 sauce- so good. The salads are good too, and the help is always friendly! We have been to several of the locations and all are good. The 45 sauce is addicting....

Like all other Groucho's this is a great place to eat if you're looking for that special day-after hangover cure! They have an extensive menu of sandwiches, but I either go with the STP or the International Roast Beef. I also like the sweet tea and "crunchy ice" as we call it.

We went to this Grouchos after church on Sunday. It was so busy we couldn't even find a table to sit down at so we sat at the small bar area they have. Service was great. I had the STP dipper (as normal) the roast was not tender but the turkey was great.

I don't know what it is about Groucho's sandwiches, but they are so delicious! I get their STP Dipper usually, but I've tried almost all of the sandwiches and they are all really good. I want to bathe in a tub filled with their Formula 45!

Ordered baby sub, was supposed to be bologna ham and salami with provolone melted on it, got ham with some kinda weird coleslaw in it, no cheese and cold, office went and picked up the order and the box said baby sub , not very good sub, the roll wasn't bad and the chips were ok about like lays and the pickle spears were good

Not worth the price. The sandwich is the size of a ketchup packet. I was so disappointed with this place and ended up having to drive to Atlanta Bread Company to get something else to eat.
