Best Pizza in Columbia! Great Sauce, Great Crust...empty pizza pan. Thin, NY style pizzas...never would have found it without YELP.

Excellent food and great service. Love the way it smells. Love the fact they use fresh ingredients

Great pizza and even better knots. Pizza dough is very soft and melts in the mouth. Only downside pizza had too much dry flour on it...enough that my hands were white with the flour and I could taste it in my mouth. Despite the dry flour...one of the best pizza I have ever had.

Gina is awesome! We were first timers and asked Gina what was good, she replied with "everything" she then told us the lasagna was legit. Man was she right! It was some of the best lasagna I have ever had! The pizza was excellent as well. This is my first review and I normally wouldn't take the time, but she deserves it! If this gets one more person enticed to go eat amazing Italian food it was worth it!

Absolutely delicious! My new favorite in Columbia and Irmo area! Great garlic knots! Yummy pizza! We can't wait to go back!

This is the perfect example of a hidden gem that more should know about. This place has been around for years and I have always frequented. Why pay $20 for a mediocre chain pizza like papa johns when Gina's offers fresh true NY style pizza right under you're nose. The dough is made daily, nothing but the finest ingredients. That perfectly necessary amount of grease you expect from a perfect foldable slice of pie. All for a reasonable price and they deliver. Their only downfall is their operating hours (they close at 9). The entire staff is really friendly as nd extremely prompt on service. The calzones and strombolis' are to die for as well. They also offer an extensive menu of Italian favorites as well. Do yourself a favor next time you consider ordering that piece of plywood with bubble gum wrappers and try Gina's for an authentic taste of NY pizzaria. -Ryan C.

I wanted some pizza today so we tried this place out. The service was great and the pizza was pretty good too. It's not the best pizza I've ever had but I would recommend trying this place. Oh yeah it's really small and the restroom is past the hot kitchen.

OH MY GAH! WHEN CAN I GO BACK??!! This place, holy kamoly! Although, the "dining room" leaves a lot to be desired, they make up for it in their EXCELLENT food! You must get the garlic knots. They're good dipped in just about anything! (you're given melted garlic butter and marinara) Even NOT dipped in anything, THEY ARE AMAZING. We had the Bianca pizza - yes, it had flour on it...SO WHAT?! That just spells authentic for me! I, also, sampled the Lasagna - amazing; the Baked Ziti - amazing; the salad - it, too, was amazing! LOVED THIS PLACE! Can not wait to go back! It's BYOB...I think I'd actually prefer it stay that way. And as much as I hate to say this: it trumps The Villa. Nicely done, Gina's!

Awesome New York style thin crust pizza. The pizza margherita is really good, as is the buffalo chicken pizza...I wish they still put blue cheese crumbles on the buffalo chicken pizza but that's OK, that can be added at home. Virtually every chain has come up with their own buffalo chicken pizza, but Gina's has ruined me for all of those...none holds a candle to Gina's. I haven't tried anything other than their pizza; I've wanted to based on other reviews, but the pizza is just too hard to pass over. We haven't dined in either so I can't speak to that experience. If you order large pizzas, you get the nice big fold em' up slices. If you like thin crust pizza, you should give this place a try. Definitely my favorite pizza around.

Gina's has great pizza. I just went for the first time after passing by it everyday on my ride home - and they've been there for 8 years. They're in a really dumpy shopping center with no curb appeal and nothing shouting "COME IN HERE FOR REALLY GREAT PIZZA!". They should fix that, because they do deserve to get folks in the door. With that said, the pizza is fantastic. I ordered a pepperoni pizza with the bianca (white garlic/cheese) sauce. Amazing. I only ordered the 8" personal pie (which was probably enough, but I wanted more) and my girlfriend and I split an order of (6) garlic knots -- also very very good by the way. I ordered a soda and it was brought to me in a can. They don't have a fountain setup so this place is really setup more for take out and/or delivery, although they do close a little early at 9:00pm. They don't serve beer or wine, but I did find out from the server (who was really great, by the way) they will gladly allow you to bring your own beer or wine and drink it while you dine. Definitely will do that next time. Overall, I was quite impressed with the quality of the food. I hope Gina's continues to hang around the Irmo area for a while, although I think they could greatly benefit from a better location.

Pizza was tasty but nothing to write home about but the service was good. I will go back to try something else. Pictures on yelp was very helpful for me to see what you have to offer.

Excellent food and customer service is second to none. Feel like I'm visiting old friends when I go there. Truly a hidden gem

Probably the best NY style pizza and Italian dishes in Columbia area. Excellent meatball subs, lasagna, and Parmesan dishes. High quality ingredients with a great sauce on the pizza. Sorry, no beer or wine but you may bring your own. Reasonable prices and friendly waitstaff. Cozy, very casual minimalist dining room with about eight tables. Salads were fresh and served chilled topped with a homemade balsamic vinaigrette. Hard to find location, but worth the hunt.

Great pizza but more if a take out place than a dine-in. Very small cramped seating area. I would only recommend ordering how much you plan to eat that same day because for some reason the pizza here doesn't make good leftovers.

Best pizza I've ever had!!!! Excellent service. A small family place but that just makes it better! Definitely coming back and taking everyone I know!

This is amazing stuff. I almost want to remove a star from other pizza places I have been to. Delicious. I had the garlic pepperoni pizza. I got takeout. Make sure to call ahead.

Unreal! Read all the yelp reviews. I wanted to go to a mom-pop place while here in Columbia. This place popped up and low and behold it was less than a mile away. As stated in other reviews it is a small place. It only has a few tables. The namesake Gina was working in the back. It was 2pm and therefore it was empty. To be expected on a weekday at that time. The server greeted us and boasted that the pizza was to die for. You don't have to twist my arm when it comes to NY Style pizza and when asked they said it would be. We ordered and the pizza was simply amazing. Our server left and went home after we were finished eating but we were lingering and talking. Gina made her way over and we talked about indegredients and the like. Folks sure you can get a six dollar pizza at a gas station but it still takes outstanding ingredients to make a pizza such as this. The sysco foods truck is not going to be able to replicate this pizza. Its location is different and no where near the covey of food establishments that seem to be the norm. BUT I IMPLORE YOU, Come try this place. Call ahead on the way home and carry out a pie. Damn you wont be sorry. On a side note, Gina told us next visit we must try the Garlic Bread Knots. She assured us they are one of the best items on the menu. Duly noted Gina!!! and thank you for a leisurely lunch. BTW-I may have been inclined to give a lesser rating because I like beer with pizza, but seeing how it was lunch time I was ok with it. I asked for future reference about the availability of beer and I was told gladly to bring my own next time.. Interesting. There is a store across the street.

This is easily in the top 5 of the best pizza I have eaten, period. It is that good. Couple things to know going in the first time: 1) you are not paying for ambience. It's in a small shopping center. You might actually have the thought "surely we don't want to eat here." Well, in fact, you do! 2) There is a bathroom, but it's not apparent when you walk in. Just ask the server. You have to walk through the kitchen to go. 3) seems to be largely a take-out joint. Do yourself a favor and eat-in. Take out pizza is never as good as fresh from oven to table. You will not regret eating here...

I can't believe I have lived this close to this place and am just eating here. The pizza was very very good and the service was excellent. Definitely going to make a return visit.

Gluten free crust is great and cooked to perfection. Tasty and flavorful both gf and regular crust. Thank you for cooking gf!

Great NY style pizza....probably the best in Columbia area. Small dining room, friendly service, fresh high quality ingredients and very good dough and crust consistency. Hard to find but worth the hunt.

I was looking for a place to grab some carry-out after a 9 hour drive breaking up my trip down south. I chose this little gem after reading the reviews on here. It was a great decision I have to admit. The garlic knots, Stromboli, and calzones were excellent!!! I will definitely eat here again if I return to the area.

Will never eat there again. Ordered a $7.99 salad, but charged $8.25. Pointed out to waitress...she said they have not updated cost on menus. Drank water. Ticket said water $.75. Asked to add anchovies to salad. Charged $2.50 additional for four anchovies. You can buy a whole can for $1.30. A $7.99 salad with four anchovies and water ended up costing me $14.27 including tip. Ripoff dinner :-(

This place is a hidden gem. Located in a small plaza and on a corner. They have only 7 tables inside and it loos that they are not open late evenings. The lady that served us is the owner and she makes excellent pizza and sandwiches using fresh food, prepared daily. If you spend less than $5, you have to pay cash. You can eat it or carry out.

  • Jason B.

Definitely the best pizza, stromboli and calzones on this side of Columbia - perhaps in the whole city. It's a little out of the way, but worth the drive. We've had several of the pizzas on their menu, but the one I recommend most is the Bianca with creamy garlic herb sauce, spinach, tomatoes and mushrooms. Be sure to take home your prize though. The restaurant itself is tiny with maybe 10 tables and the bright red walls, plaid table cloths and fluorescent lights don't provide any ambiance for a nice dinner out. Gina's isn't about a fancy restaurant though, just awesome Pizza.

Absoluteley excellent!!!! We were shocked at how delicious this food is!!! Try the garlic knots for sure!

    Very good pizza!!!! Nuff said

I don't know how it took us so long to find Gina's. No doubt about it, they have the best pizza in Columbia... and they beat the other ones like Dano's and the Pizza Man hands down. I can eat a whole pizza by myself so it's a good thing my wife loves their Bomboli. They are a little pricey, but definitely worth it!

Great food and Gina seems to really enjoy what she is doing, if I'm ever in South Carolina again I will stop here for pizza!

FINALLY!!! An alternative to "The Big Three" pizza places in Irmo! Do I have a complaint? Yes, one. Gina's web presence STINKS! It is nearly impossible to find out anything about this place on the Internet. If not for Yelp, I would never have found it! Even then, I could not find a menu anywhere! Come on, Gina! This is 2011, we expect to be able to find this info online! Now, for the good stuff... and it IS good!!! Awesome, NY style pizza. Delivered in about 45 minutes by a friendly driver. Give Gina's a try... you will be GLAD you did!!!

  • Rebekah P.

The ingredients were very fresh, and perfectly proportioned. Crust was thin, which was fine with us. We ordered ahead for take out and it was ready 30 minutes later, so did not have the slow service problems. Just a thought, but slow service, might be because the pizzas are not "pre-made" or put together with an assembly line mentality.

  • Sara M.

Gina's Pizza is definitely the best place for Pizza in town! I would suggest ordering ahead (or delivery), if you go in there and order to go it can take awhile. The prices might seem overpriced, but if you are looking for good quality pizza then you got it here!

  • Michael W.

Exceptional pizza. Haven't tried the other menu items because I'm stuck on the pizza. Small place, not a lot of dine-in seating, but the pizza is worth it.

  • Tania S.

Best NY style pizza in SC. Really good prices. BYOB. I would not eat pizza anywhere else.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
