OMG! I come here several times a year and it keeps getting better and better every time. I was excited to see they de-tail the shrimp. I can't stand digging through my meal trying to pull them off, ew, gross so thanks Helen and Eric (the awesome chefs) for doing that for me. The scallops were cooked to perfection, smooth as butter. I was able to enjoy my meal and savor the flavors. The other members of my family all enjoyed their meals too, chicken, burger, shrimp... Such a great variety of food and the staff is attentive and friendly. Our glasses were always full and empty plates quickly removed. Don't worry about running out of conversation...plenty to look at and comment on hanging from the walls. Counting the days when I can go back!
This place is a weekly stop for us, pizzas and dessert every Friday night! The pizza is great but be sure to save room for the lava cake!
This is the best restaurant we have eaten at near Edisto island. We came here for a birthday celebration and it did not disappoint. My group of six had fried green tomatoes for an appetizer (delicious) and a variety of entrees. From wood fired pizza to chicken to steak, all of our meals were amazing. Along with the delicious food was the great service and cool ambiance. There are t-shirts lining the walls from various fire departments and pictures of firehouse Dalmatians near all the booths. The place is relatively small and does not take reservations, but we were seated relatively quickly even though we had a party of six. The bartender was also very attentive and they have a variety of interesting mixed drink options. Thursday and Saturdays are wing days - $9.95 for 12 wings and tons of other guests were ordering the wings. I would definitely return here and recommend this place to anyone visiting Edisto or the surrounding area.

We drove here on our way home from edisto beach. Definitely worth the detour. Delicious fries. Had the pimiento cheese fried green tomato burger...amazing
We ran into the Fillin' Station Diner at the Charleston Brews and Burgers event last weekend, and waited patiently in line for our quarter of a burger. I must say, the woman running the line was so, so polite and gracious. There was a bit of a wait, and she apologized to everyone as they came up to receive their burger (though she didn't need to)! This was hands down the best burger at the event - which I later found out they won! The burger had pimento cheese, fried green tomatoes and was cooked medium rare. It was juicy and ohhh so delicious. I am looking forward to trying the actual diner!
What a pleasant surprise to stumble upon. No pun intended for those that are Stumbleupon.com fanatics. There is no similarity between this review and that website. I promise. Really I do. A year ago on March 20th at the wish of his wife, the owner opened a diner in the small town of Hollywood, SC. I mean small. I mean, if you blink and miss the one traffic light, you are out of the town limits. This diner, filled with old automotive decor, a bathroom with a sink that looks like an tool box, murals all around the building and burgers and fries and pie to die for, is a worth the 30 mile drive outside of Charleston. Here are a few reasons to go here: 1. Homemade pies and brownies made from scratch daily and only 3.75 for a slice of pie. 2. Homemade onion rings and bacon cheddar fries 3. Burgers that are exceptional 4. A great and inexpensive breakfast menu 5. Lots of photo ops 6. Service with a BIG smile 7. Sweet tea made the true Southern way 8. A true family feel. There were a group of missionaries down from Massachusetts and they looked like a group of 5 year old's the way they took pictures with everything in site. Fillin' Station Diner has earned my respect!!! PS - They are only open for dinner on Friday and Saturday - All other days, breakfast and lunch.

Is there such a thing as an upscale beach dive restaurant? This place is kind of hard to categorize. When my family pulled up in the parking lot on our way back from Edisto Beach, the owner stuck his head out the kitchen window to let us know that bathing suits were perfectly acceptable dinner attire. That was cool but it kind of contradicted the atmosphere inside, where the walls were covered with local artwork for sale and several well-to-do locals seemed to be holding court in their own section. If you're a fan of local seafood, be sure to stop in and see what you've been missing.
Viewed menu online and was very excited about having much healthier choice of grilled seafood but when arrived at restaurant was told only choice of having seafood prepared was fried very disappointing. But drove all the way from Charleston, SC so only choice was fried seafood. All the food was very good had shrimp and scallops with rice and coleslaw. Tried the marinated vegetable salad, seafood bisque, fries and of course the hush puppies and was very pleased. The owner and staff were very nice as was the clean pretty restaurant but I won't return only for fried seafood in the future because the kitchen couldn't be bothered that evening to put in the extra work. Too bad!
First impression was that the place was immaculately clean. For appetizer my wife and I had the seafood bisque - excellent! We chose an odd combination for dinner, each having what they termed surf and pig which was barbecue and seafood as the cue is smoked on site. The seafood was great, but the cue was even better. My wife tried the pulled pork and I had ribs. The pork was smoked to perfection. The ribs were as good as I have had almost anywhere. When we had finished, the owner/cook/ captain came by the table to chat and to see how we liked the fare. That is always a nice touch. I will return. The restaurant is a 15 minute drive from Edisto Beach.
