Not the best Mexican by any means but not horrible when driving through Hardeeville. Oh yeah, and they got pizza? Showed up an hour and some change before closing and walked into a bar/dimly flourescently lit dining room, complete with busted booths and holes in the wall. Some dead flowers to cheer you up, perhaps? It's gonna take you more than a few minutes to get waters and beers, and the server might just forget to bring your guacamole. Oh well. My friend got some chicken dish with green sauce, what I assume to be tomatillo/verde? After taking a few bites, he stopped eating all together. My cohort to the left got carnitas, of which came out looking....rather plastic -y shall we say? He seemed to enjoy them. He even packed one into his pocket to go! I got some kind of enchiladas with a spicy sauce (maybe Rojo or Mexicana?) I can't remember. It was actually pretty good. Avoided beans by all means. Needless to say...we all had stomach problems the next day. It's wierd. But, like I said, when in Hardeeville, do as the hardeellians do?

Very good local place. Was on rt 95 in crazy traffic so got off to eat. Great staff and good local flavor. Pretty funky but clean and very attentive. Worth a visit.

This place is hands down some of the best Mexican food I've found. We were starved after flying into Savannah and found Mi Tierrita thanks to a highway sign. Don't be deterred by the appearance: this place is insanely delicious. So delicious in fact that I convinced my fiance to take an earlier flight for our return visit to Savannah, specifically so we could eat lunch at Mi Tierrita. Their chicken enchiladas are perfectly marinated, and even just their chips and salsa are awesome. Pull off the highway and enjoy!

Excellent service, food and price. Don't bother with any chain restaurants at this exit!

Went there for the second time I didn't enjoy it as much. They only had to people working again which made it hard to get a hold of the person when you needed and the place looked really dirty in side. The food wasn't bad but both times we went an hour after everyone's stomach was killing.

We went to this place and it appears to have Closed long ago. Save yourself the search since the name is no longer even on the building.

Not too shabby. Besides the obnoxious stereo typical American who is blown away by Spanish and thinks there is too many syllables in chimichanga. The food is great and the corona is good. Don't be intimidated. Go straight to the bar.

Wait! I know you are thinking... no I am going to pass. Don't! It is good. Everything here is still wonderful. The decor isn't great, but the food, drinks, and staff are always great here. I have nearly everything on the menu. I love the food. I even love the specials. Gina has a wonderful beef taco topped with feta that is well awesome. I love the carne asada, the shrimp diablo and the fajitas. My daughter practically has an addiction to the mini carnitas. The pizza is fantastic if you do not want Mexican. I enjoy the crispy hot wings more I think than the pizza but I won't turn either down. They have a full bar here and the place is lively. They will joke with you or at you if you are a sour puss. You can frequently hear the chants from the bar, all in good fun of course. They carry all sorts of beer and they make fan-freakin'-tastic micheladas. They also make Horchata (Cinnamon Rice Milk) drinks that are yummy. There isn't any outdoor seating most of the time, just on special occasions. FYI! They do deliver. They also have a lunch buffet, if you are in a hurry. In addition, they have a second, prettier, location, over in Okatie, SC. I will see you there....

Had dinner here while traveling, would not have stopped in based on looks but we were stuck in traffic. We have added it to the list to stop at on our next trip. Great meatball sandwich!

This place is the diamond in the rough. We ordered lunch and it was wonderful. Everything was fresh and extremely tasty. I only needed to add a little salt and it was perfect. My wife thought it didn't need salt, but everyone is different. The only strange thing is that they do have delivery, but only to local hotels/motels, which we were in. But the town is so small I didn't really see many homes.

Excellent and fast. Don't let the outside of the building hold you back! I had chicken tacos and the guacamole on them was sooo good. They have a bar and give a good pour on wine.

Had dinner at this Mexican food/pizza joint but the food was not that good. Had Arroz con Camarones- dry shrimp doused in shredded cheese (couldn't even see the shrimp), on top of frozen vegetables (corn, carrots, peas, coma beans) and tasteless rice. Food came out a little too quickly but they did forget our order of guacamole. Boyfriend had carnitas dinner which was better though beans and rice were flavorless but the pork was good. Waiter was friendly and prices were decent. Table next to us never got silverware.

This place was a great stop on our roadtrip from Florida to Charleston. Didn't look like much from the outside, but we stuck with it. Wonderful salsa & great service. The queso was plentiful, which is always a plus! Well worth the stop:)

We were making the long trek from Hilton Head SC, to south Florida and getting out of Hilton Head turned out to be kind of a nightmare so we ended up stopping for lunch sooner than planned. Off the 95 exist really aren't many choices. I had eaten enough subs for the weekend and in I was really trying to avoid the fast food chain burger places, they just don't really have options for vegetarians other than french fries and small wilted salads. Hence, we ended up at Mi Tierrita. I think this is a small chain as I swear I saw signs for it in other areas of SC/GA, but I could be wrong. We walked in just after noon and the place is pretty empty, and honestly looks like a dump. I worried a little bit about cleanliness, but it wasn't so much dirty as it was just old and disheveled. We were told we could chose a seat in the dining room and we were brought menus and chips and salsa. The chips and salsa were decent, about standard. We both ordered a water to drink and that took forever to come out. This should have been a sign of things to come as we placed our order and waited, and waited, and waited. In fact a family that came in a minute or two after we had placed their order, received it, and ate it before we got ours. I almost walked out, but I wasn't in a huge rush to get back in the car, so I wasn't as impatient as I normally might be. When the food finally arrived the waitress apologized and said they got slammed with takeout orders just as our food was put in and things got messed up....fine, still doesn't explain why the other party was able to come and go, but I had my food so it was whatever. I ordered the veggie burrito. It was a decent size, but not monstrous, and for the $5.99 price tag a great value. It was full of rice, beans, cheese, tomato, and lettuce, and sour cream. The veggies tasted fresh. My boyfriend ordered the California shrimp burrito and it had a creamy spinach filling that was quite good. We had also done an order of guac, which tasted fresh, though I thought it needed salt. I'm being a little generous with my stars because I need to rate this for what it is, an off the highway stop. If I were rating service and atmosphere it would probably be one star; however, it still beat McDonalds or Wendy's by miles as the service at those stops off the highway is usually horrible as well. The food here was the redeeming quality as it was tasty, fresh, and very reasonably priced. If you've been on the road awhile it would be a welcomed break from drive thrus and greasy burgers. If I were in the same situation, I would make the same choice again (unless I was in a rush), so A-OK it is.

We jumped off 95 to grab lunch and decided to try this place even though it looked pretty dated on the outside. We were both glad we did! I had a custom order salad with fresh pica de gallo, shredded lettuce and guacamole which was fresh and delicious with the rib eye n beans and my husband had the steak burrito which came on a large platter with beans, rice, guacamole and pica de gallo! The burritos were extra soft and tasty served in their own container. A little bar up front and tables in back with friendly and fast service! Ymmm

Came late on a Tuesday night, around 915. Had a tasty panzon or giant pork burrito and Dos Equis lager. Service was spot on in terms of speed and attentiveness, without being annoying. Burrito was huge, 25% more than a Chipotle. Beer selection adequate. Tasty meal with white beans (wax beans?) pooled around the thing. Meat was cooked well and pulled apart. Good balance of ingredients. Atmosphere was wonderfully dive-y, with plastic seats in various states of condition but clean. The panzon burrito was $7 and well worth it. This mexican joint is well worth the quick exit off I-95 (to the east).

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
