By far the worst restaurant experience ever! Was willing to overlook the slow service... after trying to get our entrée s...then deciding we would settle for getting it to go and yet another 20 minutes past ...made yet another attempt ...spoke with 5 unconcerned employees... finally part of our order was located, bagged and brought to us....we decided to leave it behind... even though we had already paid! If you decide to attempt dinning there prepare yourself and have or take a snack! I can safely say it takes a lot for me to take my time to complain about a restaurant! Never again!

Pretty awesome food, very large portions. Would come again and always recommend it. Everything me and my family have gotten there was good, even the left overs when we eat them the next day :D

One of the best Italian restaurants in Greenville, sc. Very mom and pop kind of place, tastes like home.

They have the best pink sauce in the Upstate but their service is really not that good. One of the few places that I go back to after bad service.

THANK YOU STORM FOR KNOCKING MY POWER OUT!!! If it were not for a recent thunderstorm and us loosing power we would have never of stopped in to this gem! We would have missed out!!! Its hard to find really good mom and pop restaurunats, but this is one I have put on my books. I normally only eat at a restaurant once, since there is so much to try and so little time. But I have already been back within a week and will be back to get a pizza in another week!!! This is just darn good, down home, fresh Italian food. Nothing super crazy, nothing way out of the box, but something you would expect to see on a ameri-italian table for dinner. Yes I will admit i was first shocked at the prices, till i saw the portions!!! I had lunch for the next day and was super full for dinner. So far I have had the fried meatballs, garlic knots (add marinara sauce TRUST ME!), side salads (Cesar and greek), spaghetti and meatballs add mozzarella cheese, and chicken parm with spaghetti noodles. I really do not have any complaints that would hinder my opinion about the food and me wanting to come back. The fried meatballs were good and had a interesting texture! The garlic knots were top notch in my mind for garlic knots when you added the marinara sauce. The spaghetti and meatballs (2) was flavorful, meatballs were tender, sauce was GREAT and the noodles were cooked perfectly! The chicken parm was tender, crispy and fresh. It did have a little stronger of an oil flavor then I would have wanted but all in all it was good! The prices are fair once you see how much food you get and taste you meal. Keep up the great food and we will keep coming back! I love seeing the reviews that a restaurant is slow. Who cares how long the food takes to come out (within reason) if it is great food and made fresh. I would rather wait 45 mins for dinner and it be fresh, then head down to the local big box Italian restaurant and get my dinner scooped out of trays and in front of me in less than 10 mins.

First of all, accept the fact that this restaurant will be crowded. It is extremely popular. Service here can be slow, but it's because it is so busy, not because of apathy. They are running all over the place. The crowd seems to be a variety of families and people on date nights. The pizza is quite good. It's a thin crust place, but the crust is more flavorful than this Chicagoan expected. The sauce also had a nice flavor to it, although I loaded it up with crushed red peppers and cheese. The sausage was also good, although I do wish it was a bit spicier. No beers on tap here, it's all bottles. Sam Adams was the best choice that I found. I'd certainly return next time I'm in the area. Probably try to make it an early dinner to avoid some of the crowds.

Della Ventura's used to be one of my favorite places to eat; but, since they have moved to their new location the food has not been as good. It's still OK but I would rather eat somewhere better for the money.

Excellent food. Very good and personal service. Had the Calzone with pepperoni and bacon. So much I had to take home. My wife had the Lasagna and it was delicious. This is a place to put on the register for an enjoyable evening.

Well pretty hard finding good NY pizza nearby Easley. 45 minutes from home but worth the ride. Took our pizza to go. A lot a reviews of horrible service. Not a great setup but what do people expect. Not a fine dining restaurant. Remember people it's a pizzeria. Young kids are serving dinners and taking orders. Pizza was as good as your probably gonna find down south. Sauce and cheese were good and crust had good flavor. Problem I have with these NY style pizzerias is the size of their pies. What they call a large is a small pie in NY. Sat outside and placed an order inside. Told 20 minutes and received right on time. Also there was at least a dozen people waiting to get in and it's a fairly large place. Considering how busy it was didn't think we would get out pizza that fast. Noticed most people were eating dinners. Guessing most people were southerners and don't get to much baked ziti at home. I've been told these people are from Staten Island. Glad I have them a chance. Probably won't ever eat inside but I will definitely have a pie to go again. Give it a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

This is a great family restaurant the baked ziti is delicious their pizza pies are fabulous the staff is courteous and enjoyable and the owner is wonderful and really does a great job with the Italian cuisine. Can get very busy on Friday and Saturday really enjoyable for a lunch special. Would highly recommend for a family outing.

Everything was incredible. Great service and food was amazing. Large portions. Wife and I both brought food home. She had Chicken Alfredo and I had Marsala. Yummmmm. Cannoli's were good. We preferred regular over chocolate. Go, enjoy. Have a glass of wine, talk. Eat!!!!

I came all the way from California to eat at this place. It is a great Italian restaurant and the calzone and meat balls are to die for !! I lived in SC for 18 years but we never had such a great place to eat. I will eat here every time I visit.

Had heard such great things about this restaurant. We went this past year on our anniversary and I was definitely not impressed. Food was fine and our waitress was super sweet. However, my husband wanted to order a cannoli (dessert) before we got our check. Granted, they were about to close, but it took all of five minutes to make. The waitress informed us that they were closing and she would have to see if they could still make it. Keep in mind, it had just turned 9:00! The girl she asked was standing right where we could see and hear her and she rolled her eyes, and said, "Really?! Ughhhhhh." That pretty much blew it for me. I can't stand nor will I tolerate rudeness. We got the dessert after all, but both agreed it wasn't worth coming back to again. Some of the staff, including that kitchen lady, need an attitude adjustment. Bottom line, don't work in customer service if you don't wanna be nice!

  • I. F.

This review is based on very limited experience. I ordered a medium stuffed pizza for take away. I thought it was great, but man was it heavy! With all that cheese it must have weighed 20 pounds! Very tasty, though. I have tried to get in here on several occasions but had bad luck with their quirky schedule. They will close early if business is slow. Once I asked to get a salad to go and was told by Stacey they were closing early. Come on. I'm standing right there. How long could it take to throw some lettuce together? I don't think they're rude people, exactly, but it seems like they don't think about how they treat the customers. I've never dined in. I've never tried their other dishes. They may be great; I don't know.

Went with some friends to this place for lunch after hearing rave reviews from work colleague. They sat us in the back room with a kind of creepy painting on the wall (you'll see what I mean if you go there). I was told the pizza was good because the owner is from NY and made pizza there for 30 years... so I got the pizza lunch special (~$5.99 for two med. size pieces and a drink). The pizza was pretty good, but not thin crust like some of the good NY pizza I've had, so I was little let down. My friends got lasagna which they said was good. Everyone was satisfied, but I dunno if we'll go back anytime soon...

Fun little local pizza place, owned by people who have been doing the pizza thing for many years. You can tell that they are proud of their product. Pretty good pizza, though not my favorite in the area. Recently moved from Highway 290 to Highway 101.

If you like cheese, cheese, cheese and a wine list that consist of Merlot, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, and one other, if I remember right, a fast food atmosphere and ambiance, and seafood buffet wait staff, then this is the place for you. Seriously, it is not good. A step below Olive Garden and Capri's. The wine list I mentioned earlier is really all that was listed. No specific wineries mentioned. They asked us if we wanted our 'Merlot' cold! Ummm, no thank you. Very generic. You have four choices of wine! Apparently, their idea of Italian food is to smother something in what must be a mound of cheese and then melt and serve. Oh, and the ambiance is befitting the menu and presentation! Look up my review of Giovanni's. We went here on the recommendation of others and because Giovanni was on vacation.

Decided to try Della Ventura's after driving by the establishment frequently and seeing a busy parking lot. Walked into a relatively empty dining room and asked for a table away from the front door. The woman who seemed to be in charge informed me, "We have reservations for the rest of these tables, so...." basically told me to pound sand and either sit where I will sit you or eat somewhere else. It wasn't only what she said but how she said it. Major attitude for a woman who is standing under a sign with scripture reading, "The Earth is full of the loving kindness of the Lord." I have to wonder what loving kindness this woman has towards customer service. Ordered a side salad and pizza. Side salad was good. Pizza was NY Style, but was not New York quality. Abundant toppings, but the crust was soft and not crisp. The pizza was kind of soupy. The sauce is too acidic and needs some sugar to balance it. Good pizza for Greer but is definitely not up to par with Barley's Pizza downtown or any in NYC. Peanut butter chocolate cake is very good. Good portion size and presented well. There were employees standing around the front of the restaurant by the hostess stand, which was overstaffed. I saw many occasions where waitpeople with food-in-hand would stop by the hostess area for a brief conversation. Also noticed a man with pizza dough in hand left the kitchen area to have a conversation with someone in the front telephone/carry out area for several minutes. As he talked, he flipped the dough around...not a very good impression of cleanliness or professionalism. Our waitress was very cordial and attentive. Very good skills. Checked on beverages frequently. Good service skills. Others who delivered the food could smile and be more pleasant and not look like they hate working at Della Ventura's (which may be true, but service with a smile goes a long way). The woman from the beginning of my visit had the attitude of not needing my business. Della Ventura's certainly did not earn my business, so they are one-and-done in my dining choices. Not enough positives to get me back.

This just became my favorite place for pizza! My wife and I drove there from Boiling Springs, SC since I've heard from three people that Della Ventura's is really good, We had the garlic rolls (outstanding) and the olive oil white pizza. It was amazing. I can't wait to return for the pasta! The service was on-the-mark and the owner (Joe), his wife and his daughter all spoke to us and checked to see how we liked our first experience at DV. We'll be back...definitely!

My family orders Della Ventura pizza every Friday night (and has done so since they opened in their original location on Hwy 290). That being said, we always order it to go. I've been in the restaurant for a grand total of five minutes, so I can't really comment on the atmosphere, etc. The pizza, however, is delicious, and it keeps my family coming back week after week. For the price, you can't beat the quality. It's definitely worth trying if you're in the area.

My family of 4 enjoyed Della Ventura. The garlic rolls were delicious and the caesar salad was great. Everything else was pretty good and the service was excellent. The crust on the pizza was tasty, but a little soggy on the bottom. My husband said the chicken parmesan was just okay. We all liked the tomato/marinara sauce. I would go back again.

I've been in SC for about 7 years now and this location has changed names and ownership 4 times since then. At first it was some subway shop, then Papa Don's Pizza and then Za Za's Pizza and now Della Ventura Pizzeria. The good news is, the food gets better as they switch ownerships. Della Ventura can make some tasty pizzas. Apparently, they are originally from NY, then to FL ( but we all know FL is just an extension of NY) and moved to SC to be closer to their grandchildren, well that seems to be the story I hear. Regardless, if you haven't been here yet, it's worth a visit. I've had the pasta but I tend to go back for the pizzas. The building isn't attractive whatsoever - it's like a trailer home to be honest with you - but who cares, it's the food that matters! (NOTE: they have moved to a bigger establishment, near the new Greer hospital) If you enjoy Tito's Pizza, you should certainly give this place a chance - both are deservingly tasty pizzas runned by ...... a family for a change.
