My 'go to' for all my cake needs! Every birthday and special occasion that we celebrate during the course of a year --Stroessner's has covered them all. Their cakes are wonderful and never disappoint. My favorite has always been the Pink Lemonade. Yum! They have done some beautiful custom cakes for me and always listen to my wishes on how I want them to look and make it happen. And I can never go in there that I don't walk out with the cheese/pecan wafers and a cookie or two! I don't even consider any other place for the cakes/desserts I buy.

LOVE Strossners!! My sister lived in Greenville for a year and I made a point to go there every time I visited her. I wish she would move back - lol. The desserts are yummy!! Excellent red velvet cake!! I really like their cookies filled with icing (kind of like a double doozy, but Cookie Monster or Elmo themed.) Good lunch specials, especially liked their chicken salad. Friendly staff. Highly recommend and please send me something when you go there.

Oh man. Strossner's is amazing. Their cookies are out of this world, their cakes are delicious, and the chicken salad sandwiches are great. Plus, they have multiple kinds of chicken salad to choose from. Their array of pastries is wide, as well. Service has always been good for me. The staff are polite and quick. Although it's not the cheapest option, this place is worth every penny.

Good service at this bakery and cafe. The baked goods were interesting and gift items were available for sale.

Recently had our gender reveal party and ordered the cake from here. They had no trouble making the cake to my specifcations and dyeing the cake like i asked. The cake came out wonderful! The decorating was perfect and the cake was moist and delicious. They are a tad pricey but well worth it! Will definetly be back!

Strudel was outrageous!!!! YUM. Friendly staff, good selection of pastries and a down home place to just kick back or grab and go.

Strossner's......hmmmm. It has had its day and is now trying to keep up with the Joneses. At one point, they were the creme de la creme of bakeries (no pun intended). There are so many bakeries out there now that far surpass their products and with better prices. I have to wonder if they are still buying their ingredients from a local mom and pop company because they are SO EXPENSIVE and don't taste any better than other bakeries in the area. They have branched out and provide a lunch eating area. If you'll notice, most of the clientele are older ladies meeting for tea and biscuits or older gentlemen stopping by for a quick bite. This place just is not young and fresh and hip anymore. It was at one point, and those same folks are no longer young but still coming here. I don't know, don't get me wrong, they have an eclectic array of pastries and goodies and fresh bread, but I just can't swallow $8 for a bowl of soup and some bread that I could have easily made at home (which is what we ordered for take out). They just aren't "original" anymore.

QUALITY INGREDIENTS WILL PRODUCE QUALITY PRODUCTS This was not the experience I had hoped it would be. I entered this bakery to see if they had something special that my daughter would enjoy. As I looked around and tried to decide on something to try, my eyes landed on a couple of treats. I tried the pecan diamond and the fruit tart and was not pleased with either because they both had a very heavy greasy crust. I did not taste butter but there was a very heavy lard/shortening after taste. Despite this, I decided to try a cinnamon roll because I erroneously assumed that they just used cheap ingredients in their crust and would not dare to use them in a delicate pastry or cinnamon roll, Right? Wrong! Plain and simple, this bakery does not use quality ingredients and it shows in the finished product. I don't know what kind of fat they are using but it can't be butter because I bake with butter all the time and my baked goods are edible. I could not eat the cinnamon roll and I just don't know what more to say. Obviously, I will not be purchasing any more items from this bakery because my family deserves better. By the way, when my husband sampled the chocolate cake and said out loud, "My wife's tastes better", that should have been my clue to walk away because he would normally never say something like that out loud. I could only say "I'm sorry". Talk about awkward! I think that I will simply stick with my favorite French bakeries from now on!

If you wanna pay 10 dollars for two slices of bread with a little stuffing coupled with coffee that tastes like water, this place is ideal. Sorry for being so blunt but I found this to be too expensive. On the plus side, their bakery breads are really good. Jalopeno Cheddar for example.

Excellent salads and very fresh ingredients. Large display cases showed a very nice variety of pastries. My husband had the éclair and I had the orange cream cake. Both were very good. We were in a hurry to take off, so got everything to go, and they held up well. The service was very good.

I have had strudel and an Irish Cream cake from here. They were cloyingly sweet and on the expensive side. They didn't sell cheesecake by the slice; sometimes you just want to stop by for a slice, not a whole cheesecake. This is an American bakery for Americans with American tastes. You won't find anything special here like artisan boules, buttery croissants, baklavas, sablé cookies or elegant torten. They have traditional, pretty-looking cakes that are too sweet. It seems to me this place is stuck in the 1950s. It's missed the artisan bread movement, it's missed the European influences, it's missed the more creative things that people are doing to rethink foods with a fresh approach. Many people in the Greenville area have grown up with Strossner's and like their things, but as the population's tastes change they should explore wider influences.

Strossner's is a fabulous place to sit with a delectable confection and a decent cup of coffee. The sandwiches and soups are good too. They have daily specials that we have never tried. But the reason to go to Strossner's is to eat cake! Their creativity is just amazing. Delicious cakes and tortes, and they let you sample too. Going back and taking friends.

Upside: It's nice-looking, quiet, and there's free wi-fi. Downside: The coffee is overpriced and not that good. The strudel I had wasn't that good, either.

Katie's right - this place is the best! I can't convey via the internet just how much I love this place! It's like going to lunch at my German grandma's house! Like Katie, I stop by several times when I'm in Greenville. The food is amazing at such inexpensive prices! The chicken pot pie is unlike any chicken pot pie you've ever seen before, but it is incredible! Every meal is served with two little, perfect cheese crackers! They're like cheese straws, but thin and round. So yeah, a plate full of the best chicken pot pie ever, two cheese crackers, and a roll - all for less than $5! Once I was lucky enough to go on a day when the special of the day was schnitzel with spatzle! Wow! Everything I've tried from the bakery has been delicious, too!

Over Rated While their daily bakery items are good, they are way over priced. They are always to busy to give any type of service. But the worst is how much they charge for their wedding cakes - which come in FROZEN. That's right they come in frozen, are thawed out and then decorated. For the price I can do better!

Have always been a big fan since even before moving to the Upstate. Got a bit disappointed with them last year when they wouldn't made a particular cake for my husband's birthday which they had made in the past so I got a little pissy and stopped going for about 9 months. Went back a couple weeks ago and they've remodeling and stopped being a florist. Have room now for more pastries, cakes and cookies. Got a large box of several different things and everything was as good as I remember. Especially like their blueberry muffins because they don't sprinkle that hard sugar on top like so many other bakeries do. Funny thing is the cake they wouldn't make for me a while back? They now have individual cake bars for sale all the time of that same favor. Have more take home meal items available. Purchased the cottage beef pie for $20 and it is excellent. Very filling and we'll definitely get 8 servings from that one pie. Counter service is friendly as always.

My favorite cake is their white cake with white icing - decorated lavishly of course. I also think their quiche is wonderful - great balance of egg/filling with a tender shell. Customer service is always met with a smile. Afternoon tea is fun to attend with friends. October festival is enjoyable for the whole family.

I just had the worst experiance ever at Strossners. I will never be coming back again after this. I arrived today with my daughter and mother, we ordered 2 slices of Bavarian Strawberry Cake, the girl who helped me was wonderful. We finished our cake and noticed a sign for the cake of the month, a Golden Fudge Cake. We were curious to try it and had decided on trying the cake along with placing an order for some pastry rolls to pick up the next day. We approached the counter and let the gentlemen at the register know we wanted to place an order and buy a slice of the GF cake to try and see if we wanted to order a whole cake. He walked over to the cake display and saw that there was not one cut yet, he looks over to the girl behind the register and says "Do I cut one?" She looks at him, rolled her eyes and says "it's up to you." He then turned to look at us and says "Sorry we don't have any slices now." Not only did I find it beyond rude, but I was about to order $300 worth of baked goods to take to an event tomorrow that I will now be purchasing somewhere else, I also will never give business to a company who treat their customers that way when I could go to any other over priced bakery for a slice of cake they would be willing to sell instead of throw away at the end of the day.

I am not sure if people love this place for the nostalgic quality? The service is great; smiling friendly and helpful! They also made a nice cup of coffee. What made it a middle of the road star spot.... I ordered an apricot danish and chicken salad to go. It tasted like canned chicken mixed with mayo. The danish was okay, similar to what I would get in an grocery store bakery. It was not the quality I expected after reading the reviews. If your near there and need something, it is not bad by any measure. I would not waste my calories though.

This is one of the most unusual places we eat. It should be located in a funky section of downtown and not by it self in a commercial suburban location. Food is not your typical deli with a quiche that is simply amazing. This is a great lunch place and if we were not out shopping we would bring back some of the delightful bakery items but we seem to always be out all day and think the creations would wilt in the car. Regardless give this one a try you will not be disappointed.

I can't believe nobody has reviewed this gem of a place before now!! This is the best place I've ever been. Yup...that's it. Want to hear how I learned of the deliciousness that is Strossners? Come with me.... So, it's like 3pm and I still haven't had lunch b/c I've been working hard and didn't feel like stopping. This place is right across from my hotel..and I know I don't want to deal with the $20 half-ass sandwich I'll get at the Crowne Plaza...so I run into the bakery across the street b/c the sign says 'deli' also. First thing that hits me... the smell of vanilla cake and icing awesomeness. Second thing that hits me.... it's a bakery...with everything you could think of (including samples of whatever you want). They even have an entire display of liquor bakery items! Yup...I'll repeat that... LIQUOR BAKERY ITEMS! So.. I get to the deli and order the quiche special...it was great. I ordered my food to go and found when I got to my room that they gave me an extra Irish cream cake sample! I went back about 5-6 more times before I went home. They have a chicken salad w/ almonds that I would sell my kidney to eat again. If you are within an hour of this place, it would behoove you to make the trip. You won't regret it. I really don't like SC much...but I'd probably go back again for work b/c of this place. BTW... I've wanted to use the word 'behoove' in a review forever. That's how great this place is...it even opened up the opportunity to use the word 'behoove' 3 times in one review!

Not only did Strossner's make my wedding cake, but I made excuses to stop by all the time while living in Greenville. Their lunch menu is awesome; they have homemade soups, sandwiches and quiches. I ate lunch there at least once a week. The real reason to go there, though, are their cakes. I bought a cake for each and every birthday at Strossner's. Why would you go anywhere else?! Our wedding cake was a masterpiece. It was a square four tier affair with almond cake and alternating layers of lemon buttercream and raspberry. This thing was fantastic. I brought a picture of a similar cake and they made it my own personal favorite cake ever. We gave away extra pieces in cute little boxes as part of the wedding favors and everyone made sure to grab theirs on the way out! I even had a piece for breakfast as we were making our way through security at the airport for our honeymoon. People in line asked where the cake was from - seriously! We also froze pieces and had them on monthly anniversaries for the first year of our marriage. It really made those days special.

My husband and I loved the afternoon tea at Butchart Gardens. So we decided to try the afternoon tea at Strossners. Big disappointment. Little varieties, mini chicken salad / palmetto cheese sandwich, biscuit, cheese ball, scone, cookies and small cakes. Food is not sophisticated at all. The sandwich is dry. The cookies are so unattractive that we even did not want to eat. All the little cakes are wrapped in sugar glaze which overpowers the flavor. I think the owner is making a big mistake for not using afternoon tea as a showcase to attract new customers. We will surely not go back.
