Over all I give it five stars. The staff was friendly welcoming and knowledgeable of the menu. The decor was classic and upscale w/smooth blues and jazz playing at a pleasant volume. The bathrooms were clean and just as classy as the rest of the joint. You are served a french baguette with butter. We started with the scallop appetizer. 3 pan seared scallops cooked perfectly and seasoned well $17 I had the mixed grill: lump crab cake, filet, & stuffed chicken. The crab cake was a little fishy for my liking, the steak was prepared and seasoned well, and my favorite was the stuffed chicken. It was deliciously seasoned and had a wonderful scold. $37 Hubby had the cowboy: bone in ribye was huge and cooked to perfection $51 The sides were served family style: garlic mash potatoes: tasty 8.50 , sautéed mushrooms: yummy 9.50, spinach au gratin: FABULOUS! 9.50 I topped the dinner off with a chocolate mousse cheesecake: superb! $156 meal. Look forward to returning and trying some other menu items

Excellent food, great table in an alcove. Very private setting, wonderful meal. The Mgr, Megan couldn't be more helpful or professional and David Barkman, our server was outstanding! We've had many meals at this celebrated restaurant and ask for David each time. You can't go wrong here if you're looking for the best steak available!

Ruth's Chris is still a very good steak house, but it's not as good as it used to be. I've eaten in Ruth's Chris from White Plains, NY to Tampa, FL, and at this one before too. First, the service is good, but a little slow. The server had excellent knowledge of the menu and made good recommendations. However, he was spread a little too thin, between serving a table with a large group of men, our table of two, and at least one other table with a small group. We were left waiting between courses of our meal. For some reason Ruth's Chris has started cutting into the cuts of meat. My wife had a filet and I had a ribeye, and both had deep cuts into the meat which allows juice to ooze out and results in a drier less tasty steak. My wife said her steak was OK, but mine was a little tough and more chewy, which I'm not used to in a Ruth's Chris steak. Usually, they are fork tender and moist and very delicious. Lastly, Ruth's Chris has greatly downsized their side dishes over the years without of course downsizing the price. Desserts were as good as ever. Frankly, I'm not used to the server soliciting online endorsements at the table. For what should be a first class restaurant, that's just unnecessary. He gave good service, and he was tipped well. Thank you very much.

Never been disappointed with Ruth Chris. Consistent quality and service. Higher prices but I feel that you get what you pay for here. Of course we will be back.

Awesome evening...complimented by an awesome meal and awesome service. Our steaks were prepared as ordered. The sides were savory and brought to the table in a timely manner and and presented well. Desert was savory and the French press coffee was a pleasant surprise. Service with a smile from Stephanie

Thank you for reaching out to me and addressing the issues that occurred that night. The mark of a good restaurant and a good manager is what you do after an issue. As I said in my review, the food was very good and we will be back to give you another try. Thank you again.

Food was very good but not up to par wit the extremely high price paid. Steak was good, don't think I will go back because of the prices

I have been to a few Ruth Chris's in different parts of the country. So I feel as if I can compare this to the others as a standard. First of all I want to say that the wait staff was wonderful. Our waiter and absolutely a gem. Not only did he have a great personality but he was well versed in the menu. My partner had never been there before so he gave her the quick rundown. We ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer. They were proper temp when they came out and you could taste and see the chunks of crab meat. The only hitch was when the kitchen brought us out a second order by mistake. Our waiter laughed at that and joked how he hoped it wouldn't be the standard for the evening. When our steaks came out they were as they should be. Both were sizzling on a 500 degree plate with butter oozing everywhere. Both the filet and the ribeye were tender and juicy and flavorful. We also ordered garlic mashed and broccoli au gratin to go with it. The garlic mashed are the best I've ever had anywhere and the broccoli was fresh. While we were eating our meal a runner came to our table with someone else's entrees. He quickly found the right table luckily for the other couple and we continued our meal. Our waiter quickly came over and apologized once again but I knew they were busy since it was Valentine's Day weekend and mistakes like that are not his fault. For dessert we ordered a creme brulee to share and once again it did not disappoint. The custard was creamy and flavorful and fruit on the side was fresh. Overall a great experience. The reason for the 4 stars is there were two mistakes from the back as well as a price increase within the last 6 months. I would have given it four and a half if possible. We will be going back.

I would prefer 2.5, but 2 it is! The service was good, the young adults well mannered for the most part. However my meal was not up to par. I had the trio and the chicken was dry, the steak was how I wanted it and the crab cake, although good was not all lump meat. When there is a steakhouse downtown that hasn't failed me yet Ruth Chris needs to be on point.

Oh, WOW! Excellent wait staff. Excellent wine selections (Sonoma Coutrer chardonnay). Delicious steak, prepared to perfection. Amuse bouche actually kindled an appreciation of oysters...first time EVER that I liked them. Creme brulee is among the best I've ever had. We will return.

Possibly my worst review ever so I will explain. Casual afternoon with my wife not in a rush. Arrived 6:15pm Saturday. Not busy at all. Only 5-6 people in the bar. The servers and runners don't know what the dishes look like. Ordered 2 salads and the server bought the wrong one to my wife. Mine, Tomato and Onion, was really incomplete in my opinion. I asked that mine be taken back and add some onions on it, no big deal. Server came back after sometime with my wife's salad that was INcomplete (House salad) and he brings me a new Tomato and Mozzarella (?). I looked at him funny and he offered to take it back. At that point I said just leave it. As I am finishing my Tomato and Mozzarella salad he brings me MY ORIGINAL SALAD BACK. The wine and water glasses often went dry during this time also. The steak was cooked perfectly but they must have added a cup of butter on top of it so that covered up the taste of what I thought was a really good piece of meat. The side of mushrooms were good. We were not in a rush but that does not mean we want to stay HOURS for an early dinner. In all fairness we were dressed down somewhat for a RC. I was wearing an ARMY T shirt and jeans but I figured since it was a hotel restaurant and we were sitting in the bar we would be ok. Also the server did take the salads off without us asking him so that was a good move. The was just over $90 without tip. I did give a $12 tip even though the best part of the meal was the wine. I will try this RC again as I do eat at their locations when I travel but I was really disappointed. I feel that CHOP HOUSE 47 is a far better overall.

Very good overall. Calamari with Asian sauce was excellent to start. Wedge salad good but not anything special. Ribeye steak was perfectly cooked and great quality, but the butter that Ruth's Chris either sautées their steaks in or tops them with after cooking is not my favorite way to do a steak. Butter is unnecessary and distracts from the steak itself. I would go to RC again because quality is great, but not my top pick for a steak house due to the butter.

Our visit to the Greenville Ruth's Chris was spur of the moment- convenient really since we were staying at the Crowne Plaza. We had originally planned to dine downtown at Rick Erwin's, and we should have stuck with that! 1. 1 star earned for service- all of the staff was really great. 2. 1 star earned for cooking steak correctly. I will start by saying that we have dined at 2 other Ruth's Chris restaurants, and had great experiences which only added to my disappointment. I felt like the wine list was lacking and the markups were outrageous- That in mind I opted for a cosmopolitan. Ruth's Chris usually does really great martini type drinks. Mine was AWFUL- even though I asked for premium liquor, (Grey goose) it did not taste that way. Since we were going to be unable to take home leftovers- my husband and I ordered only 1 side- the shoestring fries- which we have had in the past . At this location however they were soggy- and overly covered in pepper. I had the petite filet (8oz) while my husband had the regular 12oz filet. While both were cooked perfectly to our liking the meat was incredibly tough. I was having to saw through it with my steak knife. Not the quality of meat you would expect for over $32. My husband's 12oz steak was quite lacking as well! It was tough and several ounces were actually solid fat! They should have only charged him for the 8oz steak! We did have dessert- The Key Lime Pie and the Chocolate Cheesecake Mousse. Both were HUGE and it was a good thing since they were the best part of the meal. Bottom line- if you want a great steak in Greenville, go to Rick Erwin's or Chophouse 47.

This was my first time at Ruth's Chris. It was FANTASTIC. My wife and I stayed at the hotel for Valentine's Day/Anniversary. The service was prompt and right on point. Our waiter asked us if we had ever been there before and then he described everything for us. He suggested wines and desserts and made sure everything was to our satisfaction. My wife got the creamed broccoli which she didn't care too much for but the onion rings and mushrooms were perfect. The steaks were OUTSTANDING. The decor was great though I thought is was a little dark. Service was prompt and very courteous. We are definitely going back again.

My first time to a Ruth Chris and i was not impressed. Thought I would give it a try since I am staying at the hotel and the receptionist gave me a coupon for a free appetizer, the Barbequed Shrimp. I didn't know they were open for lunch. Well, they were, but use a different name even though its the same place...confusing! So, I give them the coupon and want the salmon and asparagus entree. The manager comes out and says he can't honor the coupon, it's only for dinner (doesn't say that on the coupon). After pointing this out, he eventually says ok. Everything tasted very good, but about an hour after i had eaten, I had indigestion and then diarrhea :-O. Not real happy right now! I have a very strong stomach, so that's not it. Thought I'd share!

We knew it was going to be pricey before going, so that wasn't a big factor for us. My wife and I ordered two different steaks so we could try them both, the fillet and the ribeye. We both thought the fillet was outstanding (and it was the petite, so it wasn't too exspensive and it was plenty of meat, in our opinions), but we thought the ribeye was just good. And by "just good" we mean very tastey, but not really worth the price, relative to other places. However, two people could split the ribeye easily! That would give you a good steak and keep the overall price somewhat reasonable. The service was great. We had the au gratin potatoes and let's just say we won't be ordering those again. We would like to go back, but it'll be a special occasion type place for us, due to the prices. (Please don't judge my spelling. I don't think there's spell check for this review and I'm not a good speller!! LOL! Thx!)

This was the first Ruth Chris that I actually liked. OK so here is a heads up, Ruth Chris is connected to a hotel (The Crown Plaza). I personally thought the location was strange but businesses all have their reasons for doing what they do. The interior is well appointed and the staff was on point all night. We had two appetizers, the fried oysters and the fried lobster bites. Next time I will pass on the Lobster bites. All you tasted was batter however the oysters were PERFECT We all had steak, Fillets and Porterhouse. All were cooked to perfection. My one irritation is the sides are served Family Style and we always order too much (a sneaky way for restaurants to get you to spend more $$). With that being said the sides were very good. Mashed potatoes, broccoli, sauteed spinach were all very tasty. We did order the Lobster Mac and Cheese as a special treat. STAY AWAY FROM THE LOBSTER MAC AND CHEESE. It was horrible! It had a terrible after taste. We told our server and he said he would tell the chef but never offered to take it off of our bill. No one ate it, we all had the same opinion that it was pretty bad. Overall the meal was great with just a couple of missteps. We will dine there again. And as one last side note, when we arrived we were the only table when we left all of the tables were full including the Bar area. That's nice to see especially in our present Economy.

Other than the fact that the manager is a complete jerk and service in general isn't very good... Let me explain, I was there on business, brought in a drink from my room (didn't know that wasn't ok), when I asked the bartended if I could go refil it he said no, I said, "that's fu$%ed up, next thing I know the manager is on top of me saying somebody heard me use foul language - I said, if I did I appologize and it won't happen again. When I went to complain about being chastised in public for saying a word that I'm used to hearing all the time (I work in IT in Texas) the manager came running out after me yelling "I heard you have a problem with me?" That started me off on giving him every explicative I could think of, he threatened to have me arrested to which I laughed at him and said "have a great night" and went to my room. The hotel, to their credit, gave me two complimentary bfast buffets when they heard my story, i've never seen a guy at a front desk laugh so hard, evidently everybody in the hotel hates that dude... I certainly won't be going back...

Ten stars. My second meal at this Ruth Chris. A lot was riding on this dinner. I entertained a potential client and his very picky, steak loving wife and I was counting on Ruth Chris to come through. And, they did. Perfect service despite a busy SRO Saturday night. Perfect food. The steaks were to die for - as to be expected. The funny thing is, as great as the entire meal was, the bread stands out as being the best I've ever had. Anyway, back to business. After ordering desert, the client, without prompting, agreed to the proposed contract. Yes! The only complaints I have about this Ruth Chris location are its too small size and that it's not open for lunch.

The Bar in the Crown Plaza has the worst bartender ever. I didnt know her name but she is blond and taller than the other bartender. The prices are way over priced and the bartender must hater her job because she didn't seem to want a tip for the lack of service she provides. The bar was suppose to close at 10pm but she calls last call at 9pm and shuts down at 930. The Hotel shuttle van driver advised us to file complaints and drove us to the liquor store so that we could drink. The van driver told us that everyone complains about her. Its a shame to have to detroy this place because of this one employee that is an idiot. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! STAY AWAY!!!! You have been warned..

Filet was not only over-cooked but, over-priced as well. Save your money as well as the indigestion! Although the service was fairly good the overall general knowledge of the staff was lacking. Dinner and tip for 2 including no alcoholic beverages was a startling $180.00!!! NEVER AGAIN and I suggest a peak @ some of the other reviews should you be having a moment of ignorance.

The worst restaurant I've ever been to in my life. Sat down with my group for an hour and a half and did not receive our food or any help from the management other than a lie that a chicken dish was what was holding up the order. No effort to keep our business. Will never done at Ruth's Chris ever again.

Set up with a lot of hype that did not fully deliver. While Ruth's Chris is a steakhouse and you will not leave asking "Where's the beef?" there are other factors that can make or brake your visit, as did mine. The negatives are as follows: steak was bloodier than I had explicitly ordered, the shoestring fries were greasy (felt like I was at Steak-and Shake), and the Creamed Spinach dish was HORRIBLE (unlike Smoke on the Water) - reminded me of the smell of decomposing garbage. Just being honest. The bread and sweet tea were so-so. For the positives: Again, the steak was BIG, the Potatoes-Au-Grauten were awesome, the whipped butter was tasty, waitress was friendly and the decor was nice. The bill was $115 and I gave a $25 tip. Not sure I would pay another $140 to go back any time soon.

My husband and I went here for the first time last night for our anniversary and LOVED it. We decided that we will visit this place every year to celebrate since cannot afford it all the time. Steaks were perfect, augratin pototoes were wonderful. Everyone should give this place a try. Definitely a fan!

Food a solid 4 Service a solid 3.5 Portion -Massive. Decor- kind of mah The steak is good but I always find it to be nothing special for the price paid. The sides are bland. The bread is white. The dessert are huge. Service Really you have server who have no opinions on wine. Really. Slow to fill water.

I thought Ruth's Chris was good, not great. I was staying at the hotel and was extremely tired when I went here for a meal so that may have clouded my judgement somewhat. Service was excellent. I got the roasted chicken, it was very flavorful, very good. The sides very good. The salad good. I wouldn't have a problem going here. But staying at the hotel for a meal always seems to be a cop out and there are a lot of eating destinations in Greenville.

I've eaten at some great restaurants all around the country, and Greenville's Ruth's Chris is right up at the top with the best of them. Excellent wine list, perfect food, but more impressive than anything is the always impeccable service. It is the one place I have never had anything other than a perfectly pleasant experience. My recommendations: Appetizer: Calamari or Scallops Entree: Cowboy Ribeye (Yes, it's large, but you can take it home! The bone-in makes all the difference!) Side: Sweet Potato Casserole Dessert: Creme Brulee

Location was a bit odd to me but I come from a big city environment. Its connected to a motel but don't let that fool you. The service is world class, the food of course is spectacular. What I loved about this location was that it was quiet. The dining room is small in comparison to some of the other Ruth Chris locations. I was able to have a conversation in peace with some classic Christmas music in the background. Our server explained everything, was very attentive and gave me a large complimentary piece of decadent chocolate cake for my birthday. Had the Cowboy Ribeye. Was perfect. The side dishes as well. Two bottles of Prosecco made the $300 bill seem not so bad. :-)

We have been to several Ruth's Chris Steak Houses and sadly the one in Greenville does not make the grade. The service is OK but not exceptional. The ambiance is, well, typical of its hotel location. The big issue was with the steaks. They were just not up to par. If you really know your steaks, don't bother with Ruth's Chris here in Greenville. Save your money and go to Rick Erwin's in downtown. They know Their steaks.

I really love Ruth's Chris. The food here is what you would expect from the chain: AWESOME. The service has always been wonderful as well. My only gripe with ANY Ruth's Chris restaurant is the atmosphere. The first time I ate at one of their locations, it was in Nashville. It was a great atmosphere. Every other time I have been, both in Atlanta & Greenville, it felt like a hotel restaurant. Not bad, but I would just expect something a little nicer, or distinctive, for the price. If you like to eat out for the food, you can't beat Ruth's Chris. If you like the experience and ambiance of something special, there are several other places in Greenville I would recommend.

Great hospitality. Ambience average. Steak average. Lobster overcooked so it was tough. Went to one in san diego and it was awesome. For the money would not return.
