Superb food with excellent portions! Food is cooked to perfection and with consistency every time I visit. Atmosphere is casual clean and quiet. Must visit this restaurant.

We initially had Mimi's fried rice at Fall for Greenville and thought it was very good. So good, in fact, that we drove 30 min from TR... boy... what a letdown. First issue was the eggrolls. They came out and the center was still frozen. We sent it back and the second batch came out cooked through. Second issue was a sushi roll mainly consisting of crab and crab salad. The crab just was not fresh tasting at all. My wife is preggo, so bad seafood (or imitation seafood) of any kind is not worth the risk. We sent that back too and the owner actually came back and debated with us that it could not go bad because it was cooked (not raw). That in itself is disturbing. Is the shelf life infinite because its processed imitation crabmeat? Lastly, the hibachi chef did not prepare enough chicken. My friend at the table had to wait while they made extra chicken in the back. When it came out, it tasted boiled or something. Nothing like the chicken i got from the hibachi. The remaining food that we actually got was okay, but there's no way we are coming back. They had "Best Of" plaques in the waiting area from 2008 and 2009. I'm guessing 2010 was the start of the decline and we got here at the bottom.

This place is very expensive. However the food was very good and the cook was extremely entertaining. We had a great family dinner and that in itself made it worth the price. We will probably go back for a special event

I've been to Mimi's several times. I've had varying experiences each time. For the most part, their hibachi is very good. They have slightly over or under cooked my steak a time or 2, but I didn't mind too much. I've ordered their Steak, shrimp and scallops and each have been very good! The first few times we visited the service had been great. We were seated quickly, our server came out promptly and began our order, and the cook came out soon after that to start our Hibachi. Last time we went, we arrived about 45 minutes before the special pricing on hibachi ended, and we were seated about 30 minutes before the special pricing ended. Our server came over to get our order 1 minute after the special pricing ended. We told him that we were here to get the special on the steak and shrimp hibachi, and he said that the special had ended for the night and we could not get the special. I argued with him a little, but decided to drop it because I just wanted to eat. The way our situation was handled did not sit well with me at all! We had been waiting on our server for 30 minutes, the only reason that we did not get the special is because he did not come to take our order in a timely fashion. I would have complained to management while we were there, but by the time we left, the restaurant was very busy and I could not find anyone to complain to.

All I can say is Mimi's is dying a slow death. Not what it used to be. The energy, excitement and passion no longer exists from the employees and the establishment. We initially went to the Mimi's in Simpsonville only to find a sign on the door that read, "closed"! No other comment - just "closed". So my party of 7 took the drive to GV to the Mimi's on Woodruff Road. We arrived to the place being fairly busy-three tables waiting on chefs and two tables being slightly entertained by worn out chefs. Our drink orders were taken and the wait began. After 20 minutes, we received drinks and our orders were taken. It was obvious that there was a shortage of chefs and the two that were working, were tired and not feeling the love. Our salads arrived, 2 dressings were wrong and the others were served with warm lettuce. About an hour later, our chef arrived. He threw some eggs on the grilled and yelled, "egg roll".....and that folks, was the entertainment for the evening. He prepared our meals, served everyone only to realize that he (or someone) forgot to add our shrimp to his ingredient cart. Oops! Hate to say it but this was our last "check in" at Mimi's. Our time and money will be spent elsewhere. Sorry Mimi but reality has set in and the old gray mare ain't what she used to be.

Good food, but terrible service and no entertainment. The chef was done in less than 10 minutes. Plastic cups for sauce dishes, table held together with packaging tape. Altogether disappointing.

I have been there to have some sushi and roll. It was the worst roll and sushi I have ever eaten before. Salmon was stinky and smelly. Also their tuna and other fishes for nigiri was just a decoration. It looks like very old stuffed rubber and everything was bull shit. Just try them if you want to taste the taste of hell. Especially sushi chef is very arrogant and a suck.

The food was good and service was great. There was just one main issue that really bothered me. When we were seated I noticed the menus were placed on top of our clean plates and silverware. Menus were obviously not wiped down regularly as mine was sticky and had smudges all over. I asked for new plate and silverware because of this. I just don't think it's very sanitary practice to place dirty menus on clean stuff. They need to place menus on table and probably wipe menus down more often.

Went here with a group of25 friends and family for a birthday party. What a great experience, food was awesome, service was great, heckler of a show. Food is a little pricey but worth it. Would definitely go back. You really need to try it.

Iama Critic Rating - Mimi's Steakhouse of Japan - 3 Stars 1791 Woodruff Road, Greenville, SC Overall: I don't normally concern myself with ambiance or restaurant decor, but obviously Mimi's is more than just food, and the chef and the ambiance comes into play in your dining experience. So I suppose I should review this as well. The restaurant is really showing its age badly with actual duct tape all over the actual dining surface of my table. So when was the last time you saw duct tape on the table at a restaurant that charges the prices of an upscale restaurant? NEVER is the answer! And over the years I have noticed a vastly reduced "Show" quality at these Japanese grills. Our chef did not do one thing that I myself could not do. I understand you want to move customers, but these "Shows" are getting too short and lack entertainment value. Where is the skill I used to witness, truly sad! And management is oblivious to the problems. For instance Mimi's website is down, their Facebook page literally links to a different restaurant and their ratings are falling all over the internet. And sadly I watched the owner work her butt off the entire time I was there. The hardest working owner I ever saw. But it is for nothing if you don't take care of your "perceived" quality. And from the internet, to the high prices, poor portions, sad chef shows and crumbling ambiance, I perceive that Mimi's is now longer upscale or recommendable! And the real sad part is that the problems are fixable with a little effort. So what about the food? $6.95 - Squid Salad - 4 stars A lemon? Really? An orange goes with this squid, not a sour lemon, and they used to serve orange. Being upscale is all about the details. $4.95 - Baby Squid Salad - 5 Stars Utterly perfect salad, except for the lemon, which should have been an orange. If you love octopus this is one of the best salads I have ever had. Miso Soup - 3 Stars Yep, this is miso soup, I just wish they would put more stuff in it. Which is allowed! Tiny Side Salad - 2 Stars When has iceberg salad ever been impressive? Has Mimi ever heard of a tomato? $14.95 - Seafood Salad - 3 Stars More iceberg lettuce, when are upscale restaurants going to realize that when we spend $15.00 for a salad we expect more than horrid iceberg lettuce and it doesn't matter what they top it with? The real crab meat, scallops, and shrimp were, of course, wonderful. $12.95 - Chicken - 3 Stars Both of my guests ordered the chicken, which at $13.00 is one of the least expensive entrees available. But still the chicken breast was nothing to be admired and was small for the price. $23.95 - Scallops, Salmon & Shrimp - 2 Stars Wow, this is a lot of money for very little seafood. Most restaurant are not able to fit $24.00 of food on one plate but Mimi's does it with ease. That is the smallest salmon I have since I can't remember when. And how many scollops did I get, like two and a half? Just sad. Final Thoughts: I can't count the number of Japanese Hibachi Chef Shows I have seen, but I do know that most are no longer worth seeing. I just don't see anything that thrills me, or even anything I can't in my own food truck out in the parking lot. In the mean time, meat portions at Mimi's are small, the decor is crumbling, and they don't even bother to correct their own advertising. Which I could fix in a matters of hours on the computers in my food truck out in the parking lot. When you don't care about your own restaurant enough to fix your own Facebook page, why should I believe you care about the food your serve? And after eating at Mimi's twice in a month, I know they don't care enough. Oh, the owner works hard, hardest I have ever seen, but she need to fix the stuff she is not working on.

I have been to this restaurant twice now and I have been pleased both times. The atmosphere, food and service is better than the only other Hibachi grill I've been to in Greenville--Kanpai. The servers haven't been very engaging but the chefs definitely are. The chefs I've had have been very entertaining and have cooked delicious food. I have ordered the shrimp both times and love the rice and vegetables cooked with it. The house white sauce is very tasty and addicting. It's not the best Hibachi-style food I've ever had, but the best in Greenville.

I tried to review the Mimi's at Greer but FB page suspended. What a change since reopening! Not the same. No Happy Hour, tonic taste like Club Soda, unprofessional Hostess. Small portions. Yes, I complained about the gone Happy Hour and the Tonic and was told by fellow patron that people had complained to Mimi but was told "that's our tonic". This place always had people waiting but I saw some come in and leave because no Hostess at front. She was on phone. Andrew did do a great job with Sushi and Jordan (Bar) made things better but I do not see us going there again and I am sorry because we live in Greer and we have always taken family there when they visit.

Horrible service. The waiter got wrong order twice, had to wait for 45 min to get 1 Sushi roll. Got the wrong cheque twice. The staff apologiesed for the bad service. Their excuse was too much inflow of people...common! It was 7 PM and what do you expect at that time! Sushi was good but the service spoiled the evening mood.

It was the only place open on Xmas Day in Greenville, SC (aside from Starbucks) so I really can't complain. The waiter wasn't really keen in serving us, more than once during the service he wouldn't listen and he rolled his eyes allot. Luckily I was with good friends and we just shrugged it off but really. Where was that southern charm.

Hibachi style dinner preparation before you, chefs can be hit or miss from day to day, not good for big parties because your spread around the table and cant hear anyone else but who's besides you. Food portions are large, overpriced (not best way to cook a filet) sushi is always very good,

One of the cheaper Hibachi style places that I've been to. The food was decent, the fried rice was a little too salty, but the meat was well cooked, and the veggies were pretty tasty. They give you a ton of food. Seriously, it was like a mountain on my plate. We probably won't be going back very often, but maybe occasionally. The show is more fun than the food. Our chef was really great and made sure to warn me (for my 3 year old's sake) that there was going to be lots of fire and to make sure that was ok. The little one sat on my lap and loved the show. Our waiter was a little, um, distracted? Not the most friendly guy, but he did his job.

This place was recently voted best in upstate and I think it's because their large saki is the size of my head!!! I'm serious, it's about 3 times the amount one would normally expect from a large saki! And to think, we almost ordered two (rough days at work). So, their appetizer tempura is also huge! Again, it was 3 times the size of the appetizer tempura dishes I'm used to in other restaurants. Delish. I am now comparing this place to my all-time favorite sushi joint of 10 years people! We enjoyed some sushi rolls too. Just our standard eel/avacado and a spicy tuna, and they were both fresh, well balanced (as in not too much rice), and quite tasty! We will definite go back. Even the service was good. We asked for two waters and she happened to have two in her hand for another table so she just gave them to us. How sweet. Then she humorously stated that she's a mind reader. Ha a waitress with a good sense of humor is a good thing! This must be added to the Yelp world. I was shocked when I couldn't find it.

TERRIBLE! Do not go here. We wanted sushi, and read they served it. We walk in and were seated at a grill with other people, at a cramped table, bumping elbows- thankfully they were friendly. But weird still, no private tables? We sat and waited for quite some time until the table was full. Mistake #1 among many, especially since it was just two seats. Then our server who didn't really serve rushed through the orders so I had no time to ask questions - because she had to place all the orders at the same time. WTF! She forgets our salads, did not refill drinks, and gave the rush by "is everything okay"?. Now, it wasn't just our server, the whole restaurant seemed disorganized and many of the other tables had sour faces. Our hibachi chef was great, but was upset at the servers and management for their lackluster - he deserved the tip, but could not take gratuity. Now, remember, my husband and I did not really want hibachi, we wanted sushi. Come to find out as we were leaving there was a table only side - which we were not asked we wanted when sat by the manager. Freakin' hot mess!

This is probably the best hibachi in Greenville. The chefs are always friendly and entertaining without being cheesy and Mimi is incredibly hospitable and accomodating.
