Pork sandwich was tender and melted in my mouth. Peach cobbler and slaw was delicious. Serving size was perfect for late-lunch and I am looking forward to returning. Pit is right around back. Enjoy the aroma, sauce and everything else at Henry's.

The best bar b que... I've ever had! I tried the bar b que sandwich, with beans, coleslaw and a half-slab of ribs.... FANTASTIC! The bar b que plate was about $8 and the 1/2 slab of ribs was about $9. Excellent, excellent food. Very friendly service and very casual. They feature a great traditional bar b que sauce and a mustard based sauce that has a bit more kick. Both are excellent! Don't miss the banana pudding... yummy! There is nothing negative to report, this place is the real deal. I thought this was better than Dreamland in Tuscaloosa. Be sure to check my photo, and get there fast!

The service was great but the meat was over-cooked. The bones of the ribs were so soft, I accidentally ate part of one. But the sides were good , I recommend the sweet potato casserole. The banana pudding in the fridge looked very tempting. Technically I would give 3.5 stars.

I was at the woodruff rd location on Saturday 10/4/2014. The food was decent and I have always been a fan, but the lady who took my order frankly just grossed me and my family out. She clearly had a "meth mouth" which just did not make me really want to be there. Sorry, I know sometimes people need a job, but it makes me wonder...if that is who they have up front...who is actually preparing my food.

The ribs were so overcooked that when I bit them, the bones burst in my mouth and the gritty insides filled my mouth. I hope this was just a bad day. Even if it is a bad day, I will not be returning. The other reviews I saw are misleading.

great tasting pork BBQ!, friendly and fast service, two types of delicious sauce, tomato based and one mustard based, large portions for the price. Chicken, and brunswick stew also.

I really think Henry's Smokehouse has the best Bar-b-q I've tasted thusfar in the Upstate. Perfectly cooked meaty chunks falling out of the sandwhich, did I mention the large portions, and good sauce ("I'm partial to the hot mustard based one they offer)......the banana pudding is pretty good as well. I like that you can actually see them chopping the meat up in the back sometimes as well. As someone who has lived in Columbia and Charleston and eaten my fair share of bar-b-q in all these locations, I stick to my motto that once you've had good bar-b-q, the bar is officially set. I'm sure there is probably some place out there, but I personally have yet to find a bar-b-q place that surpasses Henry's (trust me, amazingly Columbia and Charleston are a joke when it comes to good bar-b-que.....I even encountered one place in Columbia that cooks it in a pot....needless to say I ended up throwing it in the trash after 2 bites) I've also had Henry's chicken (only twice, mind you). It was okay, a little on the dry side in my opinion. But there were willing to customize it and chop it up like the bar-b-q for me upon my request. All together, it's the only place I recommend thus far for good bar-b-q in the Upstate area (and I've had my share of bar-b-q simply in the greenville-spartanburg area as well).

If you want to eat like a local and enjoy some good home cooking, Henry's is your destination BBQ joint in Simpsonville. The pork is spot on here. It has a perfect blend of smoke and spices and is always super tender. Every side is amazing, especially the mac and cheese... and the french fries (don't forget the malt vinegar). The sweet tea is always great too. I'd definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a delicious lunch.

I'm a huge NC barbecue snob, and after 5 years of un-edible pig while living in Atlanta, I'm back in the Carolina's. Needless to say I needed to find a BBQ joint STAT. I've always hated the mustard based sauce, but wanted to give all the Greenville BBQ joints a try. Henry's is by far the best I've had. The mild sauce is as close to vinegar based as I can find in SC, but the meat is the star. It's absolutely perfectly cooked with just the right amount of hickory flavor and a good texture. The slaw is great, beans are great, mac and cheese not so good but whatever. The only downside is NO hush puppies or corn sticks to be found. What's up with that Henry?? EDIT: I've discovered since moving here that no one here has ever heard of corn sticks, so it must be a NC thing. I'm not holding it against you, Henry! But really...the lack of hushpuppies....what's going on with that?? Definitely the best 'cue I've had so far in Gville

This was my first successful BBQ experience while in the Carolinas. I was disappointed when I realized that I google mapped a satellite location, and I was not expecting much. I mean, you walk into a strip mall joint and order at the counter! There was not a real smoker anywhere in eyeshot. As a Texas boy, I am always a bit weary when not ordering brisket as my first choice. I overcame that fear, and I ordered straight up pork here. This was the first that I have ordered a "BBQ plate" in about 5 years... Texas is ALWAYS by the pound, but I figured I did not want an excess of meat.. just a little sample of everything. My plate: ribs, pulled pork, brunswick stew, and baked beans. Not bad for $9, especially since they surprisingly load the meat on! My cafeteria-style plate was piled to the top with meat and baked beans. I was super stoked to see on the table the famous South Carolina "mustard-style" BBQ sauce that my friend so highly recommended. Also, there was that overly sweet brown sugar tomato-style sauce. The ribs were surprisingly meaty and tender, and the bark was thick and crusty. I will say that I would have preferred my "Texas smoke" on them; that would have no doubt merited Henry's a 5 because I am not a sauce person, but ...I...will...admit... that mustard BBQ sauce is awesome. I believe that the Carolinas use hickory? I feel that it lends a softer smoke note, and I prefer a bit more cancerous tasting meat. The pulled pork was really tender and flavorful, and they give great chunky pieces of burnt ends. I would have preferred a bit more juiciness, but that is certainly hard to pull off without being super fresh. The brunswick stew was a bit runny, but the shredded pork added a meatiness to the otherwise bland vegetables. The baked beans were rich, hearty, and fairly unique. They add nice hunks of meat in. This eatery has been one of my better dining experiences in South Carolina, and I recommend it for out of towners looking for a taste into the South without going out to the boondocks. I mean, this strip mall is as civilized as you will get out here!

I love BBQ but Henry's was disappointing. Peers suggested that I try it out since they had a good experience. We tried the chicken, pork, ribs, mac and cheese, and pudding. The ribs and pulled pork had a nice smoke flavor but were dry. The chicken was terrible. It tasted like extremely dry asian flavored meat. The mac and cheese and pudding were also disappointing. Maybe my experience is an outlier but I don't see why others speak so highly of Henry's.

Solid BBQ with great sauces. Fries and Mac & cheese are both very good as well. All wrapped up in a price that is very reasonable. Less than $7 gets you chopped pork and 2 sides.
