Ok, so 5 stars really people? This place... Meh. Started off, walk in the door waitress sees me standing at entrance and doesn't even signal that someone will be right up. Owner, manager or someone that looks the role sits me down then walks away WO asking for refreshment or even mentioning a server would be right with me. Anyhow server comes by ask for my refreshment I state I would like a Pellegrino... Then returns to fill my water. She ask would I like a glass of wine I said no just the water, She then realizes her mistake. Now I actually got a laugh at it and don't fault the waitress as she was the best the restaurant had to offer. She brings out some bread, which was dry and crumbly, but the olive oil made up for it a tiny bit. Oh and btw the Pellegrino, served In a plastic bottle. Next I ask for an appetizer since I'm starving, I opt for veal stuffed mushrooms, they were ok, seemed pre made and reheated, tasted ok, akin to a bland meat ball stuffed in a mushroom cap and covered with sauce and a flavorless cream. For the entree I order duck breast sautéed in a Cherry demi. The breast was a good cut but bland bland. What made the dish push of the table bad was the vegetable medley which reminded me immediately of the crappy frozen food section Jolly Green Giant mix bag. Accompanying the awesome vegi mix was Some elementary school lunchroom flavored mash potatoes. Lastly I was convinced to get dessert "supposedly made from scratch lady fingers Tiramisu" it was ok, nothing exciting, cream and sugar with coco dust.... But I ate half of it to fool my mouth that I had a good dinner. :-/

I have been here once, 6 + months back but remember it being worth a return trip. I recall the vodka sauce with sausage as being a true crowd pleaser, and the chicken dish we ordered paled in comparison. The caprese salad to start was definitely a hit, and the Chocolate Marquiz was worth splitting. My husband is very discerning when it comes to Italian (being a NY Italian) but was a fan of this spot. Will be back!

Great food, service and ambiance. We especially enjoyed wedge salads, chicken parm and shrimp & scallops provencal. The scallops were unbelievable. The owner and wife were both present and interacting with guests. Great experience!

We dined at the restaurant during the last ice storm. Although there were only three tables the restaurant was warm and charming. Our experience could not have been better. The food was excellent and the service exceptional. We asked the waiter to modify one of their recipes and they were happy to accommodate. We plan to have dinner here on a regular basis.

A surprisingly outstanding restaurant in a strip mall of all places. Decor and ambience is outstanding as is their menu. While the prices reflect quality, they are not out of line with other local fine dining establishments in Greenville area. Davani's was recommended by two local friends who also rated them 5 stars. Ideal place for a romantic dinner, or just drinks at the bar. They have a separate group dining area glassed in for large parties. Great place for a birthday, anniversary or other special occasion! Kudos to the management and chef of Davani's!

We went to Davani's the first time on a Living Social deal and so glad we did. We've been back many times and this is one of my favorite's in town. I have yet to actually have pasta there as the Osso Bucco always calls to me. We've had quite a few different things on the menu and have never been disappointed. Some of the best Tiramisu in town for sure. We really like the dim atmosphere and that it's not downtown so you don't have to fight for nor pay for parking in this little strip mall. There is definitely a caring chef in the kitchen not just a set of underpaid cooks. I highly recommend this place for a nice dinner or speciail occasion. The prices are in line with many other fine dining in town and blow many of them away.

I left pretty ticked off. My daughter and I had dinner at Davani's tonight, a Saturday. We go there several times a year. The food is not bad. The problem was that we were charged $6 for a to go box. My daughter is not a big eater so when ordering she asked if she could either get a half portion of the chicken parmagiana or else have half put in a to go box which is what occurred. I had the tomato and mozzerella salad. The sauce on it was way too overwhelming for the salad. My veal parmagiana was good. Our mixed drinks were OK. My complaint was the charge for putting half a meal in a to go box. The place is not cheap and is the type place that I leave usually thinking we did not go out thinking this was a great meal.

Flawless! Impeccable! Outstanding! We used a Livingsocial discount, because otherwise we are never on this side of town. Both my wife and I were blown away. So my final verdict is: "I'd kill for the NY strip, but I'd DIE for the Chocolate Marquis!" When I'm feeling braver I'll come back for the escargot and the frog legs :-)

This is a nice place. I'm not a big fan of Italian restaurants. There's something about paying $24 for $0.49 of dressed up pasta that bothers me. Having said that, it's clearly a successful business model and can potentially be done right. Davanis is done right and is a lot more than pasta. I've been here a couple of times now and so far the food has been excellent. The first time I had the duck. Loved the duck. Sun dried cherries and pan seared duck, medium rare. How can you wrong? My trip back, I went with my daughter. The place was packed. We didn't have a reservation. It was the third restaurant we tried that night - we started out looking downtown. The first two simply turned us away. At Davanis, they had one little table left and let us have it. They were over the top nice - in spite of being over the top busy. I really appreciate that. I had the veal parm. It's a lot of food - good food. Yes it's over pasta but I actually loved it. My daughter also had pasta, Penne alla Vodka. She's little and as much as she liked it could only get through about a third of her dish. It was huge. The sausage on that was terrific. The owner checked on us twice, his wife once. The server was attentive. I couldn't find fault with it. Oh yes, there is a TV by the bar. Can't drink without that.

Consistently delicious. One of our favorites. Service not quite up to speed, as it usually is, but I believe the server was new.

Excellent food, excellent service. The waiter unstood what "Extra dry" means, and so did the bar tender. All in all another great evening at Davani,s!

I don't often give five stars. This place is amazing! Michelle was an awesome waitress. The owners came by twice to speak with us and make sure we were comfortable on our first visit. This place would stand up against any downtown Greenville restaurant. In fact I have not found one that is as good. Food quality and ambiance were both 5 star. We're in love and we'll be back!!

A nice restaurant, with good service. I have known the manager, rocky, for many years, and he always tries to make his restaurant first rate.

Based on reviews from my fellow Yelpers, I chose Davani's for my girlfriend's birthday. We started with the escargot en croute and a couple glasses of wine. The escargot was excellent. I ordered the two crab cakes as an entree and my girlfriend ordered the veal parmigiana. She liked my crab cakes so much that I offered to trade (it is her birthday, after all). The risotto served with the crab cakes was a perfect accompaniment. The veal was good but not great. It wasn't as tender as one might have hoped. What the veal lacked in inspiration, it made up in sheer volume. The portion was enormous. The veal wouldn't be my first choice if I were to eat here again. We were too stuffed for dessert. Our server was knowledgeable and very polite, and did not dote. Service was a touch on the slow side. I presume this was due to everything being freshly prepared. Atmosphere was pleasant with upbeat music of the Sinatra ilk.

Fantastic place. The apps while came out too quickly, were amazing. Had bacon blue cheese scallops and their escargot app. Both plates were gone between the 3 of us. The French onion soup was the absolute best I've ever had. I had the osso bucco entree and it was flavorful but only slightly over as the veal was hard to remove from the bone. The marrow was amazing. The waiter was fantastic and we gave the owner our opinions and he was very engaging, very refreshing. I'm looking forward to my return.

Atmosphere and decor is the best in all Greenville, both masculine and elegant. Shame though that the stuffed mushrooms, although good, were very small and a total of 3 per order at 8 bucks; try splitting that. Also, oysters were good, but another odd number at 5...very strange and stingy. Chicken parm was great portion and the best deal, cooked perfectly, however the sauce had little kick to it and I wasn't crazy about the angel hair pasta. This restaurant has to fix these issues, but it has the potential to be something great.

I am absolutely amazed to find that this wonderful restaurant has not been reviewed on Yelp. Let me say that it is always exciting to go to a restaurant for the first time and be completely overwhelmed by the whole experience. I had noticed this place before but was unable to find it listed and could not remember it's name, so I just got in my car and drove on over. No reservation and the place was full of Saturday night diners - I am a little nervous. I was greeted at the door by Stephanie who turned out to be the wife of Rocky Davani. They turned out to be a perfectly delightful husband and wife team. The restaurant is lovely and after asking them to tuck me away in a corner I started my perusal of the menu. Wow! What a great selection of the traditional, the special, and also a very respectable pasta menu. Do yourself a favor and go to their web site - davanisrestaurant.com . My waitress Jessica was lovely, very professional, and quiet charming in her pig-tails. She was fun to talk with and very helpful in my dinner selection. I started off with a bottle of San Peligrino and got right into an appetizer. Escargot! Haven't had any for years and what magic they were! Not the traditional served in their shells but perfectly prepared in butter and herbs and tucked into an amazing little pastry that was so light it might of floated off the plate. This was served with a great little palate cleansing amuse bouche that Rocky tells me changes from night to night. To night's was a wonderful little symphony of perfectly prepared veggies served cold with a zesty spice. Next was a NY Strip cooked to perfection medium rare as requested and served on a bed of great mashed potatoes with a spicy dollop of butter and all surrounded with slices of yellow squash, zacchini, onions, and red peppers. This was all augmented by a basket of delicious warm Italian bread and butter with just a hint of garlic. I say with out qualification that I have never had a better steak any where in Greenville. It brought to mind some of the five star restaurants in my old stomping grounds in NYC. Well, I saved some for breakfast and moved on to the dessert menu. Again consult the web site before you go and try your best to make up your mind. I settled on the Chocolate Marquis. This dessert has won awards for two years running. It is a truly amazing chocolate mousse with cream topping with crunchy little hazel nuts. It is nothing less than a little bit of heaven. All that with a great cup of coffee. This is the kind of place that you begin planning your next visit before you go out the door. I think that I might take that special someone to their special Valentines night. Lastly let me say that watching all the wait staff was a pleasure. Such a professional and friendly bunch. When you go make sure you meet Rocky and Stephanie - they make a great evening truly special.
