Neither my husband nor I were impressed with our meals. I think my husband could've done a much better job with seasoning the food being from the southwest and having his fair share of tex mex. The service was quick and nice enough however the restaurant was kind of messy. There were several tables that hadn't been cleared and the staff was sitting right next to us at a table rolling up fresh washed utensils into napkins. Our waitress was training another young girl and yet another staff member stayed on her cell phone the entire time. Probably won't come back!

If you want order by the number tex-mex, go up the road to Puerto Vallarta. This place isn't bad, there is just better to be had.

I hate to write a review like this, but honestly this place served one of the worst meals I think I've had in many years. The tamales were bizarre--just a bunch of dried-up corn dough with thin (and very few) slivers of stringy, overcooked chicken (at least I think that's what it was)--and the beef in my friend's taco tasted for all the world like dog food. Spit it out. And it was all expensive. Clientele was hefty, loading up the plates from a grotesque "buffet" of previously-frozen treats. A real commentary on something, but I was too busy suppressing a gag to figure out what. Awful. Just awful.

Took one bite of the cheese dip and immediately knew this was not going to be good - sent it back as it tasted sour. Meat tasted old. Super nice staff, but unfortunately the food was not good.

The fresh made guac was great. The Sunday buffet was decent for the price. Our waiter was friendly albeit a bit slow. I would eat there again.

I would have given this place a 3 if the service had been better. The food was quite good.

Slightly overpriced. Mediocre food is an overstatement. An inexperienced cook could do better at home with a decent recipe from the internet. I entered hopeful and left feeling betrayed having wasted 45 minutes of my life. New location seems unwarranted because the food wasn't good enough to have a single restaurant in the first place. They charge for the second basket of chips. I had to ask for tortillas with my entree.

Went here because I had a coupon. Most flavorless taco i've ever eaten and the wait staff didn't seem to care that I was there at all. Save your money and go to taco bell.

I've been here a few times and order the same thing since it's simple, burrito with shredded chicken, cheese, lettuce, black beans, rice, and sour cream. Can't really mess that up. The atmosphere is meh. Service has been nothing memorable. I will only go here if and when I want the same massive burrito that is my regular.

Well, where do I start? Perhaps my best advise would be ~ don't go!". That had to be the worse Mexican meal I've ever had. Not to mention the place was a total wreck. I knew we were in trouble when our shoes stuck to the floor as we entered the restaurant. We were seated at a table and then asked to move to another table, which was fine. Our waitress arrived quickly, brought us chips and dip, took our drink order and told us about the Sunday Buffet! A Mexican buffet~you've got to be kidding! All you could eat for $8.99! This I've gotta see. I walked over to the location where they rolled the make shift buffet and lord have mercy! It looked liked a pile of mess in every container. There wasn't anything identifying the food so your guess is good as mine! I just have one question ~ is fried pork skins really Mexican? You guessed it, I opted out on the buffet and decided to order from the menu. How bad could a taco salad be, right? Well, still not sure if the meat was a combo of freezed dried make believe beef and mystery meat or a combo of mystery meat and freezed dried make believe beef. None the less - I was wrong. It is possible to mess up a salad. As we paid our bill ~ we all agreed that this was our first and last. So long not real Mexican #mysterymeat

Absolutely dismal service. Had set a generous timer set. Plannedto walk out if we were not acknowledged. Waitress made it with only 30 seconds to spare. Nothing remarkable about the food. It's ok. Won't come back.

Only one word comes to mind when trying to describe the food of Compadre's: bland. First, let's discuss the service. The waitress was quite friendly, was quick with serving and getting our orders and was very pleasant. The restaurant has no flaws as far as that goes. Unfortunately, that's the extent of the positives. We visited during lunch hours, and the place was empty for good reason. Every last piece of food they churned out was bland and overcooked. No seasoning in the sauces, no seasoning in the rice, and for some ungodly reason even the queso was bland which is a rather impressive feat. The food was overpriced for what it was. $10 for a sauceless burrito with overcooked and dry rice, flavorless beans, and stale sour cream. Other people at the table had rice which seemed to be fine, but like everything else lacked seasoning. Also to note, we were charged for the chips that typically come free while waiting on our food. We didn't have multiple baskets of them, just one; yet we had to pay for them. My advice? If you want to experience good mexican food, avoid this place and go to Monterrey's over by Haywood Mall or the one in Taylors. Both have drastically better food, cheaper prices, and an atmosphere that doesn't feel dreadful.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
