We've been eating at Bucky's for about ten years now. They have the best BBQ in the Upstate. It started as just a hole in the wall off Roper Mountain near Garlington. It's grown to a few more stores. Be sure to try the sweet potato casserole. They use vanilla and some other heavenly ingredient that just is out of this world. We always get the pork plate with two sides and bread. They also have a popular holiday ordering program - you can get fried turkeys and all the sides for the holidays. Be sure to order early, as they run out of it fast as the holidays approach.

Today my husband and I went to pick up lunch for me and my family. We have always loved Bucky's. We have been customers for 8 years now. Today's experience put Bucky's above any family owned restaurant I've been to. We were getting ready to pay for 4 meals and for some odd reason our card declined. So we went off to the side to log into our bank account and indeed we had money so the cashier tried again and it declined. We were mortified. We were 2 min. from the bank. But before we could suggest my hubby going to get money they just handed us the food and said it was fine. It was $40 worth of food! Anyway the story does not end there. My husband and I decided to go to the bank anyway and get money to pay them. So I went back inside, no other customers were there, I proceeded to try to pay for our bill to the same cashier and she would not take it. No matter how hard I tried. She just said we want you to come back. =) thank you! Always had a good customer service and amazing food!!!!! Today above and beyond you bet we'll be coming back!

I've been traveling to Greenville for 14 years and I am mad that no one ever told me about this place. Their pulled pork is very good. Their ribs are good too, though they are cooked to the fall off the bone stage which in my book is too much. But, they are still good. They seem to be a dry rub style of Q that is heavy on the smoke. Nice portions for the price.

Stopped in while in a road trip flying blind had no idea what we were getting outta elves into. So glad we stopped! They had the best baked beans I've ever had totally different than any too. This is a great place to stop the BBQ was good I could eat it without drowning it it sauce. The people working were really nice especially to these yanks! :D If you are in the area it's worth the stop very reasonably priced!

Good BBQ. Loved how fast it was. I had the pulled pork sandwich with sweet potatoe crunch and it was delicious. Husband had the pulled pork plate with beans. He loved the pork but not the beans (I liked the beans though!). We will be back here. Very tasty.

Excelent, smoky pulled pork. Cole slaw was creamy and not too sweet. Baked beans were a little sweet for my tastes but excellent nonetheless. The mustard based sauce was exactly what I craved and the tomato based wasnt bad either. This is a welcome change from the Lexington style Q that I get at home in NC. Prices are great...you can't beat $7.95 for a plate with two sides and a drink, My only crticism is that they are only open until 2:30pm and I couldn't go there for lunch and dinner!

Excellent food- best pulled pork I have had and the sweet potato hash was delicious...coleslaw was not good at all though.

We love, love, love Bucky's! It's our favorite BBQ spot in Greenville. The meat is so moist and flavorful you *almost* don't need sauce. I only have three complaints against Bucky's. The first is they don't tell you that all their plates come with drinks. For a long time I just picked up Bucky's to go and never knew a drink was included! Maybe it's posted somewhere in the restaurant and I just missed that? Anyway, they should tell you that! So make sure you pick up your lemonade or iced tea. The second is, as good as their meats and sides are, I am not crazy about their sauces. If I order to-go, I'd rather go home and use Sticky Fingers sauce. (sorry) The third is, I just wish they would extend their hours on Mondays and Tuesdays so we could eat there more often! :)

Hold on there, yelpers. Good stuff, but I've had better. Not bad stuff, no complaints about the service, food, or facility. I just prefer my ribs with the meat falling off the bone. Wed. night is $11 all you can stuff. Chopped pork was alright. The ribs I got were a little fatty. I gotta give some strong props to the mac and cheese. Spicy vinegar sauce was appreciated. Good regular and mustard BBQ sauce on the table. The sweet potato crunch was a baked wonderland of sweet goodness. I really mean WOW, that's some good stuff. The staff and fellow diners were all super friendly. My 3 stars is not a bad thing, Bucky's is just not tops for me. If you are in the area, do make a stop, but I would suggest a little drive over to the other top rated BBQ place on yelp, it really was smashing.

A great place to go and get an incredible pulled pork sandwhich! Smoked, with a strong ham flavor this place has got it figured out. Large portions of meat and the sides to match, Kinda a no-frills lunch or dinner choice. Easy on the wallet and fills up the belly.

My favorite BBQ in Greenville. Excellent pulled pork in a friendly, informal atmosphere.

Ok - after reading the other reviews I figured this bar-b-q had to the closest thing to heaven and still be here on the planet ! The chopped pork was good but I've had better . The coleslaw and potato salad tasted like it was store bought . They only have lemonade ; sweet tea & unsweet tea ; none of which is my first choice ( didnt see any water ) so you gotta go with one of those ! One thing that I didn't like was that they keep the plastic utencils in a cup on the tables so you really don't know if someone else had touched them or God forbid sneezed on them ! But for the price I guess it was good ! Would I eat here again ? Maybe ; I wouldn't go outta my way for it though !

Solid BBQ, great sides, homey atmosphere. The only problem is the location - out on Roper Mountain Road next to a sheet metal shop (although there's a back story to that and you can't really criticize them for it, I suppose.) It's pretty busy at lunch so time it right.

Why do all hole-in-the-wall places have to be so good?? We stopped here because we wanted REAL Carolina pit BBQ and to try mustard-based BBQ. It was also recommended by the SC welcome center on I-85 when we asked about it. We went on a Tuesday, when it JUST opened, it's hours being from 10am-2:30pm. It's literally in the middle of no where, but that obviously doesn't stop foodies from coming here. We(my dad and I) weren't starving, but we could use a little pick-up in the form of delicious pit-smoked pig. So we ordered the pork platter to share for about 8$, and that comes with 2 sides(we chose the sweet potatoes and cucumber salad) as well as a drink. We were served immediately, because they have all the food already set up- they just have to put it on a plate. The pork, sauce less, was tender with no fat and had a slightly smoky flavor. We were given a GENEROUS portion, more than enough for one person. We debated over which sauce was better- the mustard or light tomato sauce. The mustard was tangy with a slight sweetness, and the light tomato had a strong vinegary yet not overpowering taste that complimented the pork very well. The mustard won, though, and we bought some to take back home up in Yankee country. The cucumber salad was very vinegary and only ok, but the sweet potatoes were so dreamy and creamy and sweet. It reminds you of Christmas, with the cinnamon and caramelized pecans mixed in. It could EASILY be dessert. Very very impressed, and it set the bar high for all SC BBQ that we experience on our trip(:

Best BBQ and sides in Greenville! The sweet potato crunch is an absolute must, it will change your life.

Hands down the best BBQ I've ever had. The pork was so moist and flavorful with an excellent smoke ring. The sides were excellent, and the sauces were a perfect compliment to the meat.

50 cars outside at lunch and still served food so quickly. No fear of slow lunch during a busy day. And the food and sides rock. Most places veggies taste like they're poured from a can and heated. Not here. Very good and tasty. Yumm. Highly recommend.

Nom nom nom! Bucky's is a dryer, smokier style of BBQ than I'm used to, but that's no criticism--I thoroughly enjoyed it. The mustard and tomato based sauces are both delicious, and my sides (beans and mac'n'cheese) were superb. I'd definitely come back.

Most unbelievable sweet potatoes I've ever had. Our crew from FL knows to not leave Greenville without a fix of Bucky's.

Got the pork platter w beans and mac and cheese. Might very well be the best I've ever had - cleaned my plate. Better than Buddy's in Knoxville. Cost: $8.59

Being from Orlando, my husband and I have been looking for a good local bbq joint. My my my, the previous reviews sure didn't disappoint! I went in tonight around 7:00 and was literally in and out within 10 minutes! This was great for take out! My husband got the combo plate with the chopped pork and smoked chicken with mac and cheese and sweet baked beans for sides. I got the pork plate with green beans, onions, and ham and the sweet baked beans. We got 2 mustard based sauces and 2 hot pepper vinegar sauces. Ooooh, the food was delish!! Loved the chopped pork especially with the mustard based sauce -- that was our fave. The smoked chicken was surprisingly good too, still very tender with flavor. My husband loved the mac and cheese and we both loved the sweet baked beans. This definitely hit the spot. Would definitely come back! Sign up for their email and receive a coupon for a free sandwich!

My family and I absolutely love the food and service at Buckys, my daughter has worked in this restaurant while in college and really enjoyed it! They were very supportive and uplifting. They have had such a great impact on her just by encouraging her and being great role models!

Great BBQ. Picked up pulled pork two days before Thanksgiving. Put it in the oven 25 mins, then ready. The mustard BBQ was amazing! Moved here from KC, and this BBQ is better in my opinion than KC BBQ.

No matter how good the food might be if the service is rude it ruins the whole experience. The guy taking my order behind the counter could not have been ruder if he tried. There are no paper menus so you have to order from the menu board. I was a first timer so I was trying to read the board as I was standing behind one other person who was ordering. No one was behind me and the lunch crowd was gone. The guy gave me major attitude when I asked for a minute to read the board. I kindly stepped out of line and apologized (mind you no one else was in line). When I stepped back in line to order I started with ordering a child's plate as my husband and two young children were seated at a table within view. The guy then asks if the child's plate was for me, again with major attitude. I said no sir it's for my two children seated over there. At that point, it was my cue to leave. As excited as we were to try this place, we were equally excited to leave without spending a dime.

This place is amazing! The smell you get when passing by in the car is just mind blowing and will remind you of some amazing home cooked bbq! They have this sweet potato crunch that is to DIE FOR!! And the pulled pork plate is my favorite with the mustard bbq sauce! Baked beans and cucumber salad! This place makes my mouth water every time i think about it! And trust me you will never leave this place still hungry!

I was in the mood for BBQ on our drive from ATL to NYC and I heard this place was pretty good. It was really good. Almost worthy of 5 stars, but, the food had been sitting under a heat lamp or in a steam table or something and was just a touch dried out. I'm sure that isn't a problem during the lunch or dinner rush(we ate around 4). So here's my big 5 for BBQ: Sauce, Ribs, Pulled Pork, Brunswick Stew and Sweet Tea, ranked on a 1-10 scale. Sauce: 8 - They have 2 kinds, a spicyish tomato based and a mustard based. Both are delicious and they even work really well mixed together. Ribs: 7 - Dry Rubbed, great, smokey flavor. Perfect texture - super tender while still having a bit of chew to them. Probably a 9 if they had been a little fresher. Pulled Pork: 7 - Loved the texture and flavor. Really well done. Same story as with the ribs, probably a 9 out of the smoker. Brunswick Stew(not on the menu!!!) but no points off, it's not really a staple of SC BBQ so I wasn't too surprised. Will replace this with their Sweet Potato Crunch which gets a resounding 10. Do NOT go to this place without getting some. Thank you to all the fellow Yelpers who said the same in their reviews otherwise I might not have been treated to this amazingness. Sweet Tea: 9 - Not much to say, it's done right. We also had some baked beans(super sweet but good), mac 'n cheese(yum) and cole slaw(not sweet, but I liked it). All in all, I'd definitely go back. Food was great, service was great and fast, good amount of food for the price, and the interior was pretty cool.

Bucky's is awesome. The food is spectacular, the price is a deal, and the service is top notch. I will say one thing, if you go here and do NOT get the sweet potato crunch - your trip is a waste. ENJOY THIS SIDE!

Haven't been to Bucky's in awhile because the last experience was disappointing with the size/portion of the ribs. Yesterday (Saturday) I went again and the "rib plate" with "3 big ribs" described in the menu ended being a few small ribs. I miss the Bucky's of the past, they are resting on the laurels of previous reputation. They have gone downhill. Save your money and avoid.

we eat here pretty often, like 3-5 times a month. the food is always super yummy. the pulled pork isn't full of fat, it's actual meat and it's delicious! the ribs are amazing, fall off the bone style, so good. lately, however, it seems like the portion sizes are getting smaller? every time we've come in before, we get a slice of bread with our plate, but that past few times, we've had to ask for bread, and once given, one slice is almost always the heel. the flavor is still there, (the ribs weren't so fall off the bone this last time either) but the portion sizes and service seem to have changed. not sure what's up with that? rising pork prices? idk, but I hope it goes back to the way it was soon!

I've been in love with Bucky's for the last 6 years when we moved to Greenville! My friends and family will vouch for that. Every 4th of July for the past 6 years I've dragged dozens of friends, coworkes and family members out to the amazing feast that Bucky's puts on. I've loved everything from the hog to the band and all the sides in between. This year, however, the event left a very sour taste in my mouth. The parking lot was full, crammed and neglectfully unmanned which made it very difficult to navigate in and out. As a result I got a hefty scratch on the side of my Ford F-150 which cost me $1,600 in body work. I approached Bucky's on friendly terms and asked them to do the right thing and help me pay for half of the damage they caused by neglecting the parking situation and allowing drivers to block the exit ways, but unfortunately the owener, Wayne Preston is too greedy to do the right thing. He pays lips service to gratitude for freedom and independence but will not put his money where his mouth is. My husband has been serving overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan for 6 years and I've been going to Bucky's in his honor every July 4th as that's his favorite BBQ place in Greenville. I will no longer go back or bring any friends or have anything to do with Bucky's. They may serve good food but they have greedy hearts. SO SAD!

  • Jeff B.

I was one of his very first customers. It has been a joy to watch Wayne and his family go from selling BBQ on the side of the road to all the restaurants he has. He did not have an easy road but he has been an inspiration to so many people. To top all that off HIS BBQ IS GREAT! I have never left hungry or dissatisfied with his food and I have eaten there many dozens of time.. I don't think you can go wrong with Buckys for dinner or if they cater your event.

I was born and raised in Tennessee, as were my parents, and their parents, and their parents, and their parents, and on and on. Having this kind of background I have had a lot of good barbecue. I love Memphis style, love love love. After a 7 year stint in NC (not a fan of Lexington style btw, don't hate me) my wife and I moved to Greenville and was introduced to mustard sauce. I wasn't sure how I would feel about it, but there it was, on a table in front of me in a little bbq joint in a residential/light industrial section of the county. The barbecue on my plate had a beautiful look to it, bark, halo, fatless. The smell was perfect...smoky and savory, and the flavor. Are you serious? Perfect, and on top of that was the sauce. Unreal. I have only had one mustard sauce that I thought was a touch ahead (Wise's in Kinards SC), but this place is a regular stop for me and the family. Thanks for the consistent, plentiful, inexpensive, fragrant and uber-tasty food, and we'll be stopping by again soon.

Great spot to grab some BBQ. We were in town to visit family and as we normally do we hit up Yelp to find quality local spots. We were not disappointed. Prices were great and so was the food. I took another reviewers suggestion and got the sweet potato crunch. I'm not a huge sweet potato person but this was so good. I highly recommended checking this place out.

  • David R.

Interestingly enough I love the pulled pork... but the "Chicken is delectable" I probably embarrass myself when I eat here because it is so delicious and I am sucking on the bones! This is a simple restaurant that is some of the best in the "South" the team truly cares that you have a fantastic experience and they want you to love the food. And for the person that gave this "1 Star" because they did not have enough "Ribs" why do you think that is... maybe because they too are awesome?! LOL

  • Joe P.

Excellent BBQ with a nice smoke flavor and two sauces to choose from (one a sweeter vinegar style and the other mustard based). The sweet potato crunch was a great side. It was packed at lunchtime on Friday, but the line moved quickly, although parking was a bit of a challenge in the full parking lot. Plenty of flood for less than $10. This place is definitely worthy of a repeat visit.

Some of the best BBQ I've had. We all had the pulled pork plate. The pork had plenty of tasty bark, the meat was smoky and flavorful. I usually don't like mustard based sauces, but Bucky's is very good. The green beans were delicious, just the right amount if seasoning. The sweet potato crumb is fabulous. I saved it for last, because it is just sweet enough to be a dessert. Others liked their baked beans and the Mac-n-Cheese. The plate was $7.50 including your drink. Delicious, and a bargain. Restaurant decor was typical BBQ dive decor. Who needs matching chairs when you're busy savoring every bite? I'd give them 4.5 stars is possible. By the way, their power had just gone out, but all the food was still hot, so they fed us. Great service!

  • Christine B.

Really great bbq in a low key atmosphere. I had the pulled pork with baked beans and sweet potatoes. The portions are generous, only ate half. I really liked the mustard sauce. Realized after we were almost finished that they also have a spicy sauce at the counter. Will definitely go back next time I'm in Greenville.

Fantastic BBQ. You can tell they take pride in their food. The chopped pork has a great smoky flavor and the ribs are flavorful and absolutely wonderful. Definitely get the sweet potato crunch. Can't wait to go back.

the pork plate was excellent. definitely try the sweet potato crunch with it. this place is good, fast, and cheap. also, the bbq sauces come in a convenient squeeze bottle. can't ask for much more. ...unless you're afraid of styrofoam. in which case, this will be terrifying for you.

4 Stars for this area only. It ain't Dreamland in Tuscaloosa, Saw in Birmingham, any BBQ joint in Memphis, Chicago, or even Philadelphia. But I haven't found any place better in Greenville, oh except the lady by the road before you get to Ceasar's Head. She has good BBQ, but I'm only there 2 or 3 times a year. Henry's at Simpsonville was very poor (meat seemed almost steamed), Duncan's Roadside BBQ closed (too pricey for the amount of food), Mutt's was very forgettable. So I settle for Bucky's; it ain't WOW! but where else is there to go?

Bucky's knows BBQ. Bucky's knows how to treat the pig right. This place should be on a list of places one must try in Greenville. We came here for lunch at the recommendation of a local team member. Pork, chicken, ribs and a bunch of fresh and tasty sides (ranging from healthy to all out comfort) are available. There's even an option on portion sizes - regular, light and child's portion. I've never seen this before at the BBQ places I've been to in OK, TX, MO and NC. Thank you Bucky's! The six of us all ordered plates of chopped pork. I ordered a light plate with mac n' cheese and cole slaw. The portion size was perfect for me at lunch. The pork was flavorful, moist and smoky and not the least bit fatty or chewy. I could still see the smoke rings in the meat! The pork just melted in my mouth and was enhanced by the tomato and mustard based sauces. Both were good on their on but I found that combining them added that right touch of something sweet and sour to balance the richness of the meat. The mac n' cheese was creamy and well made. The cole slaw was well dressed and seasoned just right. It was not wet, goopy or bland, characteristics I find with most cole slaws. As much as I was trying to restrain myself from finishing all of my food, I could not stop myself from taking yet another bite. Apparently my dining companions couldn't stop themselves either! The place filled up during the lunch rush and everyone seemed to be really enjoying themselves. I love the pig-themed decor. Service was friendly and efficient. Be warned that your clothes will smell of smoke for the rest of the day - a great sign for a BBQ joint, if you ask me! Last night I chose to try one of their competitors and so wished that I had returned to Bucky's instead. A mistake I will not be making again. This is some good stuff. Pig done right.

This is a true BBQ joint - built in a warehouse type building with a walk up counter and lots of big tables. We went here on a recommendation of a local as being the best bbq around. I ordered the light chicken plate w/ potato salad and cucumber salad. Everything was good - a nice mild smoke and rub on the chicken. I have never been to a S Carolina BBQ place so it was an education in what it is all about. The sauce options at the table were a mustardbased sauce and a vinegar based sauce - both pretty tart. Other than chicken, there are ribs and pork on the menu. Having been to mostly Texas style BBQ's I was suprised to not see brisket on the menu (not that I care for brisket). I just figured it was a staple of BBQ joints. My firends had the ribs and pork - all of which they said were pretty good. I have heard that the sweet potato soufle is a must try - just not a sweet potato fan myself. I would call this a must visit place for anyone traveling to the area from out of town. I still prefer Texas BBQ, but this is a good chance to try the best of the local style.

  • Bebe J.

I was looking for North Carolina style barbecue and found Bucky's on Yelp. I was disappointed and the barbecue sauce exceeded my expectations. The small pork plate is huge and with the sauce, delicious. My sides of slaw and sweet potato crunch were good but not different than any respectable southern cook's kitchen. I bought a jar of sauce to take back home with me.

Fabulous short ribs! Super great barbeque and convenient location. Baked beans had a brown sugar aftertaste that was delish.

AMAZING FOOD, LARGE QUANTITIES, RECESSION FRIENDLY PRICES. Excellent flavor (not too smoky) and consistency make this one of my all-time favorite haunts...if they served beer I would have to call it heaven on earth. I try to eat here at least once a month. The best part is it's incredibly affordable with the most expensive Dinner plates costing roughly $9.50 at the time I am writing this review. Some of the best Smoked BBQ anywhere in the country. I have been eating at the Roper Mtn. Rd. and Pleasantburg Rd. locations for nearly 5 years and have only had a couple of instances where everything wasn't perfect (still good to great, just not perfect). Their pulled pork is really, really good. Their ribs...so tender you can actually eat the bones if you want (I don't but it could easily be done). The chicken is always moist, lightly smoked, and perfect. The sweet potato casserole is excellent with a nice layer of hardened sugar on top. The cucumber salad is usually good (1 our of every 5-10 aren't perfect).

For openers, they do have t-shirts. Double extra large, bt they do have t-shirts. No bars on the windows, not in a bad section of town, not enugh grease on the table to write your initials... normally the criteria for outstanding barbecue (think DaddyZs in Atlanta, Interstate in Memphis and Finchers in Macon)..., but they do have t-shirts and for a guy with more than 200 from barbecue joints across the country, that's important. You rder at the counter and the guy who takes your rder is also the skilled tchnician wh chops pork with srkes up to 60 per minute with a meat cleaver, The St. Louis cut rbs are excelent, the chopped pork even better. The chicken on this, our firts outing, a lttle nb the dry side. Prices were more than fair.Seven bucks for a pork plate wih two sides and a drink. A quarter rack of ribs with a geneous helping of chopped pork, two sides and a drink for $9.90 The sides run the gamut , stopping short of french fries. Their sweet baked beans (a rareity) were too sweet for the taste of the Brown She Gourmet. The sweet potato crunch was excellent, slaw nothing special and the cucumber salad was a nice change of menu pace. Other, but untried entries, included mac and cheese, potato salad, green beans and cajun into beans.Three sauces, two with strong Carolina read: vinegar) emphasis... tne mustard based, and their tomato - both above average. Did not try their hot pepper vinegar sauce. Menu says Bucky's has four locations in the area, this one apparently the first and certainly showcasing the trappings (albeit shor of window bars and table grease) of most good barbecue places. Staff friendly, prices good, food even better. The Bown Shoe Gourmet will return.

No compelling reason to return. First time here. Beef brisket was the feature (tough). Cole slaw (dry). Baked beans (can tasting). Pink lemonade was good. Also, mustard BBQ sauce is slightly sweet with a little kick of heat, not bad.

I love Bucky's! Excellent BBQ - everything is good from chicken (dark meat is generally more moist) to ribs. Ribs are cooked perfectly every time, and the sauce is a vinegar based which I love. Yummy mac n cheese, green beans, and sweet potato casserole. Yeah I'm going to need to get some Bucky's now...

I'm living in San Francisco at the moment, and even though I am elated with the food there, I have been craaaaaving real BBQ. And by real, I mean smoked, for a looooong time and with love. Bucky's pulled pork is simply: perfect. Try it plain. Then try it with the mustard based sauce, then the vinegar based sauce, even ask for the Habanero vinegar sauce and try that. The sides are good too, but I normally stick to my standard sweet or cajun baked beans and slaw. It has been one of the longer periods of time since I have been back to my hometown, but I plan on going here again while I am still visiting.

  • Karen B.

The sides are better than the pork!! You get alot for your money but the quality of the meat is not that good, it has a lot of fat in it and the sides tasted like they had been around a while. Not my first choice for BBQ.

Stopped here for lunch after a business meeting. The restaurant is buried in a strip center. I was early for the lunch crowd - I was the only one in the place - but soon the place was filled with people. I had the pork plate with beans and sweet potato crunch. I thought the pork could have been heated a bit, it was room temperature. The addition of BBQ sauce offset the temperature of the pork (I am a vinegar fan). The sweet potato crunch is definitely something to try. Very good. Will stop by again when in the area and eager to try their other offerings.

  • I. F.

I think they do a very good job here with the pulled pork. It is not overly smokey, the sides like sweet bbq beans and sweet potato soufflée are tasty, and I enjoyed the home-made sauces on the table, which weren't too sweet. The guy waiting on me was attentive and polite. Depending on your personal taste, this could be pig paradise. I would go back again, but personally I still think Sweatman's or Jackie Hite's BBQ is better, but I don't feel like driving that far often. They have 3 rules on the walls--the last one is "3. Everyone Leaves Happy," and I see that they do their best to make that happen at Bucky's. Customer service is really important to them.

The only BBQ joint in town that has all you can eat ribs and runs out 90 minutes before close.

Great BBQ with anti-ambiance, i.e., non-discript corrugated hut with baseball caps hung on the walls. Tables are picnic benches with plastic clothes stapled on. I went for the pulled pork dinner which was smoked for 16+ hours in the backyard and hacked into little bits. Complex spices and smokiness didn't need anything else on it to be appreciated but the barbecue sauce and mustard based sauce on the table were nice complements -- not overly sweet or hot. Wide variety of sides, but I went with my old stand-bys beans and cole slaw -- both done simply but well. Staff was very attentive and friendly to this clueless out-of-towner who came in search of true barbecue and left having found it.

Great BBQ at a great price. HUGE portions compared to the other guys. All plates and sandwiches come with tea or pink lemonade. Their homemade sauces are fantastic. Many sides to choose from and they also have a kids menu.

Very nice down home Mom and Pop location. Not only is the BBQ great but the sides are also very well prepared. I went here for the Wednesday night all you can eat for $11, it was a great deal. The pulled pork - great. Ribs - great. The chicken - good. Mac and cheese - great. Coleslaw - great. The pink lemonade was also surprisingly good. Very friendly service, great food. I'll be back.

Bucky's served up arguably THE best barbecue I've ever had. 1. Order the pork plate. 2. Cut a hole in the pork plate. 3. Put your junk through the pork plate. That's how good it was. But seriously, this is commitment food. You won't put your fork down. Get the sweet potato crunch as one of your sides, whatever you do. It was mindblowingly delicious. They're not really keen on ambiance, but anyone willing to get snobby with comfort food shouldn't get to know about a real deal genuine BBQ joint like Bucky's. If they want to build another cement plant on the opposite side of it to shield this place from the foodies, I'm all for it. You will eat here, & then you will fall to your knees & weep in the dusty gravel parking lot. It's that good.

Great barbecue!! Just remember, you are not going for the atmosphere, you are going for real smoked Q. Huge portions for a very reasonable price. Super sweet ice tea, as you would expect. Great lunch spot, service is quick. I'm a fan!!!

Great authentic Southern BBQ. I got the pork plate with sweet potato crunch and beans, mmmm, It's sure to fill you up. It's a little heavy though so I don't recommend goin on your lunch break unless you wanna go into a food coma later at work. The hours are a little strange too...

Very, very good stuff here. This is a gem of a find; the local police told us about this place and I'm glad they shared their secret with us. It's a small place that doesn't look like much, but as soon as you open the door, be prepared for a bbq smell that will make you smile like a Cheshire cat. The smell alone make me take comfort in knowing I was about to experience something good. The boys behind the counter were super friendly and suggested I try the lite pork plate (I explained I was trying to save some room for dinner that night and needed a suggestion). It's a smaller portion of pulled pork, and I had the choice of two sides. I went for the sweet baked beans and the green beans. I was offered a small container of the hot pepper sauce and told there were bottles of two types of bbq sauce on the tables. I sat down and took my first bite. Good lord. So smoky and tender. I tried a little of the tomato based sauce and loved it. I tried a little of the mustard based sauce and loved it, too, but I think I favored the tomato based one more. The hot pepper sauce was so delicious that even though it brought a tiny tear to my eye, I couldn't stop putting it on. The baked beans were delicious; don't know if they make them themselves or if they are out of a can, but they were great. Friendly service, excellent food, great portions for the price and their own parking lot. It doesn't get better than this. Here's a tip. 1.00, you get a small soft-serve ice cream. A large is 2.00. On Wednesday at dinner time, you can do all you can eat (incl. ribs) for 11.00. Damn that's the day I wish I could've had dinner there, but we were there for lunch that day. Bummer.

I'm new to SC but I'm sold on Bucky's. This is some of the best pulled pork I've ever had. Plan for a nap after the meal, but don't plan to pay for your sweet tea because it's included with the meal. Don't go for the decor, don't go for the nutrition but do go for a great tasting meal. A classic hole-in-the-wall that won't disappoint your taste buds.

Bucky's is great bbq and a great story. The original location (there are now 4) was a machine shop for years and when business went south the restaurant was born out of necessity. Remains the best bbq I've ever eaten. No stop in Greenville is complete without a meal at Bucky's. Everything is amazing, but the ribs stand above it all in my book.

This place is less than a mile from my parents' house, so I get to eat there every time I'm home. I pretty much demand a trip here b/c it's so good. Awesome pork bbq just like you expect to find in the south. The pulled pork is moist and flavorful as is, but the sauces are great too. My fave is the habanero vinegar - it isn't on the table so ask for some at the counter. Sour and spicy goodness! The sides are good too - i usually get mac and cheese and beans, but the sweet potato casserole is good too. You can also get take out here. One year we even got our Thanksgiving turkey here - smoked turkey rocks! And you can get large portions of the sides for picnics and parties.

$7 pork plate comes with two sides, and it is AMAZING. sister got the rib dinner and they were literally the best ribs I've ever had; the meat falls right off the bone. two sauces on the table taste fantastic mixed. drinks are included in the meal. like James Franco says in Spiderman... "SOOOO GOOD."

Was in Greenville SC for training for a week and been wanting to try BBQ. That's what the south is known for (went to something by the river in downtown greenville earlier in the week and the sauce there are good, but the meat was nothing to brag home about) I went to Bucky on my last night in town and order the pulled pork dishes. It was somewhat dry and not my cup of tea, but the owner was really nice and give me an extra dish of pull pork when they saw I accidentally/intentionally put hershey chocolate on the dish. I didnt realize the sauce were on the table (I am not into those sauce anyway, it got a strange tangy taste to it). Kudos to the owner for that!. So I also order a ribs dish, and this is the best ribs I ever had. It was very juicy, soft, tender and come right off the bones! Make me wish I had try Bucky earlier in the week so I get to eat more than just once. Business hours is a little strange, but if you check their website you can figure out when it's open! Thumb up for a good product.

50 cars outside at lunch and still served food so quickly. No fear of slow lunch during a busy day. And the food and sides rock. Most places veggies taste like they're poured from a can and heated. Not here. Very good and tasty. Yumm. Highly recommend.

Nom nom nom! Bucky's is a dryer, smokier style of BBQ than I'm used to, but that's no criticism--I thoroughly enjoyed it. The mustard and tomato based sauces are both delicious, and my sides (beans and mac'n'cheese) were superb. I'd definitely come back.

Very tasty.

  • Tom S.

  • Pate R.

we eat here pretty often, like 3-5 times a month. the food is always super yummy. the pulled pork isn't full of fat, it's actual meat and it's delicious! the ribs are amazing, fall off the bone style, so good. lately, however, it seems like the portion sizes are getting smaller? every time we've come in before, we get a slice of bread with our plate, but that past few times, we've had to ask for bread, and once given, one slice is almost always the heel. the flavor is still there, (the ribs weren't so fall off the bone this last time either) but the portion sizes and service seem to have changed. not sure what's up with that? rising pork prices? idk, but I hope it goes back to the way it was soon!

SO SAD!

    (1)

Really great bbq in a low key atmosphere. I had the pulled pork with baked beans and sweet potatoes. The portions are generous, only ate half. I really liked the mustard sauce. Realized after we were almost finished that they also have a spicy sauce at the counter. Will definitely go back next time I'm in Greenville.

the pork plate was excellent. definitely try the sweet potato crunch with it. this place is good, fast, and cheap. also, the bbq sauces come in a convenient squeeze bottle. can't ask for much more. ...unless you're afraid of styrofoam. in which case, this will be terrifying for you.

Very nice down home Mom and Pop location. Not only is the BBQ great but the sides are also very well prepared. I went here for the Wednesday night all you can eat for $11, it was a great deal. The pulled pork - great. Ribs - great. The chicken - good. Mac and cheese - great. Coleslaw - great. The pink lemonade was also surprisingly good. Very friendly service, great food. I'll be back.

The sides are better than the pork!! You get alot for your money but the quality of the meat is not that good, it has a lot of fat in it and the sides tasted like they had been around a while. Not my first choice for BBQ.

SO SAD!

    (1)

  • Laura M.

    (5)

  • David P.

As good as it gets ! I am from N.C. and know my Bbq pretty well ! It is like a religion in N.C. ! The meat has a good deep smokey taste like I enjoy ! The Sweet tater crunch side is almost addictive ! I buy a big pan of it , and have it for Thanksgiving meals every year . It is always the star of the show ( Gone ... ) ! All the meats at Buckeys are delicious , but the Ribs and Chicken are fall off the bone tender , and my favorite ! I find it hard to go to other Bbq joints in Greenville area , as I find myself judging them by Buckeys , and being disappointed ? It is hard to find actual wood smoked meats in SC , but Buckeys is the real deal ! Free drink with meal, so you dont get ripped off for a 2.50 Sweet Tea either ! Simple food done right , Try it you'll love it ... My name is Stanimal ....and I approve this message !
