Had to wait 20 minutes for a table. Wait staff is very slow. Food was so so. We have dined here before on Myrtle Beach trips. It didn't use to be this bad.

I wish I could give zero star ratings, because this restaurant deserves it. We were hungry, saw the shoneys, and decided to give it a try. Even though it was prime breakfast time, there were only a few cars in the lot. This should have been a sign, I guess I overlooked it in my hunger. Once inside, I noticed all ceiling vents were filthy. Dust/mold was on every one of them. Upon being seated, I ordered a water. I took a sip and as I did, I realized there was a white hard "sauce" dried onto the outside. It appeared to be gravy from the bar. The waitress apologized and got me a new drink. I will try to remain focused while describing the buffet food. The biscuits were rock hard, bacon burnt, and potatoes flavorless. While trying to eat, our waitress shared her entire life story with the couple at a table next to us. I really did not care to hear about her "ex" and her opinion on men while I'm eating. She then broke away from her discussion on drinking in public and getting arrested to give us the bill, for a different group. I pointed this out to her and she printed a separate one. Again, not ours. She then said, "oh ignore the items it has, the price is right." It's been a long time since I tried Shoneys and I will NOT be back. Both my father and I were sick to our stomachs for hours after eating this.

Should've read reviews before we stopped. And the completely Empty parking lot at 4pm on a Saturday on a holiday weekend near the beach should've been a dead give away. Salad bar less than great. Sirloin dry, over cooked and nothing like the picture on menu. Instead looked like a thin piece of leather. Microwaved to death potato. Baked spaghetti worthless jar sauce - you can make better at home. Buffet doesn't start until 5pm. So go to Ryan's a little further down the road. It's parking lot was packed! Lesson learned.

Dang slow! It took our server quite a while to get back to our table to take our order, another 20 minutes to get an appetizer and then another 15 to get our food. My wife asked for a bit more ranch dressing and it never came. Server looked like a meth-head. I know they have to work also, so good for her. Don't stop at this Shoney's unless you want to waste an afternoon and hang out with undesirables..

Shoney's used to be a great place to eat and this one was outstanding. This store has been consistently going downhill for the past five years and couldn't get much worse and still stay open. It has to be surviving solely on inbound beach traffic that is expecting the chain's consistent product and service. It's not here at this one, keep driving.
