Great food. We eat here almost weekly. Consistency is the key. Other places may have great wings once in a while, but Publick House's wings are consistently great. They've got pub food down to an art. I also like the philly whenever I'm not in a wing mood. Decor is cozy and wooden, with a touch of Irish and a hint of dive. The place is usually just the right amount of busy but can be a madhouse occasionally. The beer selection is sufficient for any beer lover but the table menu isn't always up to date. You're better off checking the chalkboard over the bar for specials.

I had been wanting to check this place out for some time now and finally made it. Heard their wings were ooc (out of control) and they were! I wish I hadn't gotten the sweet stuff and started with the traditional BBQ stuff but nonetheless they were great!! We got the guiness battered shrimp as well and they were damn good too!! I don't think I'd go back on a Friday night (way too crowded) but I'll be back for sure!

We stopped by for a late night dinner. I was headed for the Fish and Chips which is always good but, the waitress mention she still had their special of Lamb Sliders. They were awesome!! I have noticed the specials at Publik House are above standard "Bar Food Fare". Definitely worth a look!

Generally yummy food. The fried pickles and wings are always spot on. We are comfortable bringing our child for a meal, and no one blinks (she adores the fish and chips!) Had one unfortunate experience with lemon pepper fish on salad that was far too heavily seasoned, but that was a one-off. Good service that doesn't diss us for having the youn'un along like some "hip" places seem to do, We will always be back!

Well it comes as no surprise as on on a Sunday afternoon we were treated to the newest beers in SC and offered samples of other regional beers. I always enjoy coming here and noticed several restaurant owners drinking here today. That mean it's a great place to come out and relax from the work week. Publick House has continued to go above and beyond in providing me with a great outing with friends in rye five points area.

Love the atmosphere in here, food options are fairly standard and lack in diversity and creativity. My only dislike is the fact that they don't post prices on beers except for what's on special.

After a pause of a few years, we stopped back at an old favorite place to eat and drink. The place still was the same. Great wings, awesome raw fries and tasty beer. The bartenders and waitresses have changed but oddly it still was the great place I had come pretty much weekly for years.

white supremecy? lol, hahaha! not so much. i said that because our friend who came to meet us there got to the publick house first and texted us (me being asian and my hubby mixed) that the crowd wasn't a "normal mix" of people. We asked, "like crazy young college kids?" then found out he meant a lot of white people. haha.. so what? I think he was just being worried and definitely for no good reason. we still went and when we got there it was just a lot of people who were all having a good time and of course with the awesome southern hospitality. Everyone was nice and we enjoyed ourselves. We had laughs, beers, and some of us played some darts and pool. How can you not have a good time? We didn't try any food but judging from the look of plates we saw around us i'd say it looked pretty good!

Have been consistently satisfied with this place. Good food, great and reasonably priced beer selection, what more can you ask for? Place can get busy/loud but definitely a good place to get some wings and beer and relax with friends.

Best wings in Columbia. Decent draft selection for 5 points and large bottle selection. Great atmosphere, noise depends on what day of the week. Welcoming! If you want service, don't be snotty- just ask!

Food was excellent. Guys had wings and ladies had fish and chips. Would have gone 5 stars but service was sloooowwww!

The good: Great place to meet friends, grab a few beers, play a game of darts or pool, or eat. Pretty good wings, I didn't think they were anything to marvel over. Try the lemon pepper! The Pterodactly was nice and saucy if that's your thing. Skip the spicy teriyaki, the hot was more flavorful. The bad: The service is a toss up. They always seem to be understaffed with only a few bartenders even on the busiest of days but the ones that are there are nice and helpful. If you're ordering take out, be sure to double check the order because on more than one occasion they've mixed it up. The ugly: I had a server literally grab my shoulder and push me out of the way. It was busy and the bar is set up so you pick up take out orders where servers get the drinks from the bar but I was appalled. I would have happily moved if she had used her words.

I love this place. It's a really great, darkly lit pub with a great beer selection, really good food, and nice people. There are pool tables and dart boards. We love the food. The chicken salad melt is awesome, and the wings are nice and crispy. This is a really great place to grab lunch, a late supper, or a beer after work.

Great place to eat. Great wings! Good service! Chef made me grilled chicken and veges. It wasn't on the menu but he made it for me anyway. So Yummo!

Good food, good beer list, and great pub feel. It's barely out of five points, but I think that is a good thing. Pour a good Guinness. Have good wings, and service is great. A++

Awesome wings but raw fries were a bit soggy. The atmosphere here is awesome as well. Darts, pool table, etc. Great place for a chill dinner

Trivia on a Saturday night? What? Now, I might imagine trivia happening on a Monday. Or a Tuesday. Or a Wednesday or Thursday. Heck, I can imagine trivia occurring on a Sunday night. But a weekend night? Yet here it was. The beer was good. The british style french fry "chips" were greasy and crunchy and delicious. The wings were okay. Cool vibe here. Great spot for meeting friends and not so loud that you can't hear yourself think. I'm still wondering about that trivia, though...

A good escape when needing to unwind after a long day when not yet ready to go home. The beer selection is very good, if not quite as wide as some places in the vista. The wings (many flavors) and the fish sandwich (among other menu items) are both excellent. Best of all, the clientele is not likely to be overly rowdy or to interfere with your post work libation and game of darts.

The food took way too long to cook, but it was very tasty. Terrible experience because we were ready to leave, but were forced to sit around for 20 minutes because their system was down and they couldn't print out ticket. We even offered to pay cash and they still made us wait. Will not return due to poor technology and slow service.

This is hands-down my most missed place in Columbia! Publick house was my local place. Seated just up the hill from 5-points in Shandon, Publick house serves the best wings in all of Columbia. I'm not sure this is even debateable. The wings are always spot-on and delicious. The beer on tap is always good too. I've never got the dirty tap metallic taste. The atmosphere is comfortable and cozy...except gameday. It is true that locals have always tended to get much more attention, but we were the ones shelling out the dough quite regularly. Try: The wings and fried zucchini Avoid: Drinking crap light beers at a freaking Irish pub

Very good food and atmosphere. Service is excellent. Definitely try the fish and chips.

Best wings in Columbia. Get the spicy barbecue or lemon pepper!

The beer is expensive, the seats are hard and the food is REALLY oily. I went with some friends on a Thursday night and got so sick from eating the fish and chips...it was good, but had so much oil that I wanted to vomit an hour later. The beer selection is thin; I'm sure most people go for the Guinness. Prices are kind of high for being close to 5 Points. The wait staff is OK, but they're pretty girls and they are obviously sick of being hit on and treated us like we were there to hit on them...which we could not have cared less about. It was a little offputting. I won't go back. There are a lot of other places to get bar food and beer at that don't cost so much.

Pub a dub a doo! This is a cozy, albeit a little loud on game day, pub-bar-restaurant. Has the feeling of a local hangout, nice and cozy. A place where one could watch a football game and drink a Guinness! Fish and Chips (raw fries) are great! If you need a fish and chip fix this is definitely the place to go!

I can hang here every darn night. Loved it. Felt I was back in Ireland, tucked away in a small town.

Great local place for wings and beer.

Good food and beer selection here. The waitresses are always attentive to patrons and it's got a great atmosphere. It's a good first date place, with trivia on Monday nights. They also have pool tables and darts along with plenty of T.V's to watch the game on. It can get crowded on game nights with local students, so if that's not your scene, you might want to avoid it then.

Pretty good, but the food was a little oily. I got the mild buffalo wings and while they were good i expected them to have a little more of a kick than they did. Overall it was good and i would check it out again

Visited with a coworker early evening. Friendly, attentive and observant ladies at the bar. Atmosphere is a laid back comfortable pub feel. People friendly. Lots of folks in the seating out on the street. We got there not much after six on a Monday, and the outdoor seating was already full. Indoor was mostly full by the time we left. Decent mixed beer selection. Craft, Irish, English, German, and Cider on tap and in the bottle. Good bar food selection. My coworker (a foodie) said the cheese steak was excellent, and I can say the fried oysters on My Oyster Rockefeller Wrap were perfectly done, as was the wrap. We can both say the chips are great and homemade. We really liked this place and I can see as a regular stop when I am in Columbia.

Gathering place for grown-ups of all ages, reasonably kid-friendly, too, earlier in the evening. Good staff, pretty good bar food and the music is kept at a reasonable volume. There are a few sidewalk tables, as well, for when the weather allows. My only complaint is that the PH seems wholly disinterested in craft beer. An uninspired selection, at best. If you're okay with that, though, by all means get over there. I'm going there right now, in fact. PS Really good chicken wings.

The only positive thing to take from this location is the Steeler banner on the front of the building. Staff could care less about the customers and would rather hang out with each other then serve someone else. There are far too many good places to eat in Columbia to waste your time here.

Great wings! A great casual place to hang out and enjoy a good beer or two.

Visited with a group of 4 others on a weeknight. Service was slow. When the server came to take the food order I wasn't sure what I wanted, but didn't want to send her away and wait 20 minutes for her to return. So I picked fish and chips, a pretty safe bet. The appetizers arrived with dinner, not before. The fish was awful. Not crispy at all. Batter was about a half inch thick and was soggy, resembling pancake batter. My friend also ordered this and we both deemed it inedible. Atmosphere is fun, and although they take a while to get, drinks are good.

For me this is either a 4 or 5 star (don't like to call something a 5 star unless I can't live without it). When I make it to Columbia this is a must for a Guinness (I think they are the top seller of Guinness drafts in the state). Food is your basic pub grub but since when have Irish pubs been known for their cuisine? Note: I'm told the wings at the wing shop they run out back are pretty good (the owner's wife is from Buffalo -- go figure). Friendly, eclectic crowd. Grab a bar stool and tell Andy I sent you.

Best bar in the 5 points area, hands down. It is a little outside of 5 points, but I'd still consider it to be a 5 points bar. They have great food, TVs for games, and good beer. I thoroughly enjoy this place. It is a very welcomed change from the rest of 5 points.

Great bar and good food! The fish and chips, wings, salmon salad, homemade chips and fried zucchini are excellent at Publick House. The typical low lit Irish pub style bar and shared tables makes this place a good place to meet people and see people you may know in town. The crowd really varies from business men, 20 somethings, 30 somethings, adult sports teams, families with children and professors; really just about anyone. It is a good place for older children, I wouldn't take a young child here. Good place for a week night meal or when you just want a chill night out.

The Irish Pub of choice for everyone too old for Delaney's [Read: Everyone out of college]. Significantly quieter & an all-around more enjoyable, less crazy atmosphere. The best place in town to grab a Guinness and play a round of darts. I spent a lot of nights here with my college girlfriend, who lived about 100 feet down Devine Street. Ohhh, memories!

It's not too big, but it's low key enough that it doesn't take too long to get a table. Great wings, good beer selection.

Great food, good beer selection and awesome atmosphere. Where to go to get a beer AWAY from the annoying fratty bunch in five points. Fish and Chips were very good, some of the best I have had actually and even the wings are tasty--apparently they are known for the wings. Overall, one of my favorite places in Columbia!
