We were just driving through town on our roadtrip from Chicago to Hilton Head Island. (Yeah, I know, it was ridiculous in hindsight.) And my brother-in-law called and asked us where we were. We were like "I think Columbia City" and he says "you totally have to stop by Maurice's!" And we're all like. "Okay. It's either that or Long John Silvers." So we go. The place looked like a barn on the inside, with a quilt on the wall, and it's completely deserted. We slowly make our way to the counter, and look over the menu.We decide on an adventure and try "hash". Side note: we have never heard of Hash before, and didn't actually know what was going to be in it. It. Was. Epic. After INHALING it, we go up to the counter to tell the woman that took our order that it was amazing! We asked her what was in it, and she pauses... looks super confused and says "...well, it's Hash. What do you mean?" She said it so matter-of-fact, like "yes, you ARE breathing air". Regardless. Stop here. Get Hash. It's amazing. And then thank me later. P.S. It's a mixture of pulled pork and vegetables sauteed and mixed together. Or, at least that's what the internet told me.

This is my first experience with South Carolina BBQ and I hope it improves from here. The pork was mediocre but not horrible. The Mac-N-Cheese was very watery, the roll was stale, the coleslaw was overly pickled. There has to be better BBQ restaurants here. Keep looking!

Very good BBQ - nice people working there - the sides were excellent (fries, slaw, macs 'n' cheese, hush puppies) - the sandwiches excellent, terrific value! Good dining room as well, with throwback log cabin look, quilts and old photos on the walls, very clean. Highly recommended.

Tried this place for lunch during a quick visit. Good location. Food was good but nothing spectacular. The chicken was for most part cooked well but dry. While the restaurant boasts of 4 different types of BBQ sauces but the chicken came with a standard Honey Mustard sauce. Not sure if there was a choice. The lemonade was fresh but a bit too sweet. The rice with gravy was exceptional so was the coleslaw!

Fast food bbq a far cry from real food let alone real bbq. The bread was wet and flavorless and the pig was fatty chewy. A real mess

Is was definitely different. The mustard sauce was actually pretty good -- although not what I was expecting or hungry for. I like to put coleslaw on my pulled pork sandwich and the Cole slaw was excellent. I was also pretty pleased with the lush puppies and normally I stay away from that much bread stuff. But they were too good to not eat.

I travel all throughout the southeast and this is, by far, the tastiest bbq I've had. The onions rings are a slam dunk and the mustard based sauce is awesome.

While driving home from Florida, I saw a sign for Maurice's so I stopped for dinner. The place is a dive, clean, but a dive. It's about the food right? The St. Louis ribs were meaty and delicious and their proprietary mustard sauce is an outstanding addition. They serve a pork hash that is something I've never had anywhere else and is really tasty. I took a bite of one of the hush puppies and it was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside with a great oniony taste. Only the cole slaw was way below par. It was a nice break from my seemingly endless drive today.

The pork bbq was very good. The mustard based sauce is different but tastes great. After reading about the hash in some of the reviews I had to try some and it was awesomely yummie.( First hash ever I liked ) The greens beans needed a little more salt for my taste and the mac and cheese were tasty. The food came out pretty quick and all of it was hot. The lady behind the counter was very nice and helpful when we ordered, our server was also friendly and checked back with us frequently. The restaurant was clean. Definitely would recommend this place for a good bbq. We will definitely try out their North Augusta location since we live closer to that one.

Their pork grinds are delish and super fresh! Their sauce is so different! Not the red one that we're used to using here in California. Theirs has some mix of honey mustard and other stuff but it is pretty damn good! So good that I took some back to San Diego with me! I'd definitely come back here again!

Ok so I was driving through South Carolina, got hungry, pulled off of one of the major highways, and saw Maurice's BBQ Piggie Park. We actually had to make a U-Turn to get to the place, but when I saw faux log cabin, signs to "pig out," and neon lights for "pork briskets" I knew I had to eat here. Items of Note: - Their hush puppies are off the damn chain. - The BBQ sauce has to be mustard based because it's SUPER yellow. Good, but not the best I've had. - The pork sandwich was really delish, full of pork, soft bun, everything you could want. - The coleslaw was SO good. I actually don't like really saucy slaw, but it was finely chopped and I could have eaten more. - The mac n cheese was okay. I added salt and it was good. I wish I had gotten a bigger slaw and a smaller mac n cheese. Oh, and the server was also running the register, and had to be the nicest person I've ever met. She was amazing. I don't know her name, but she was from Tennessee. Give that woman a raise.

My boyfriend and I went here for lunch. I had the Little Joe plate with extra hash and rice instead of the slaw. I really like their hash and rice. The plate came with BBQ, hash and rice, a roll and a few hushpuppies. A bottle of sauce is on the table so you can make it as messy as you like. Everything was great! My boyfriend had the Big Joe Sandwich and an order of onion rings. The onion rings are REAL. Sliced onions, battered and fried. They were served piping hot and delicious! Meals can get expensive if you don't watch it but you can find things on the menu reasonably priced. Good meal, give it a try!

Every time I am in this area this is a must visit. Unique mustard based Bar B Que sauce that is the best I've tasted. Served on the meat and on the side. Atmosphere is casual and clean.

Had the pork sandwich and it was okay but had way too much mustard sauce on it. Could have also used some more meat for the price. Cole slaw was very good but macand cheese lacked flavor. Service was good
