My wife and I were in Columbia for a good, quick weekend away from Charlotte NC. We stopped at Di Prato's following a great Yelp Review to see when the best time to go for brunch on Sunday(it only advertised Brunch on Sunday) and we were elated to see they were open for brunch on Saturday. We had Eggs Benedict and the Charlestone Benedict. The Hollandaise was to die for! Then we looked at the deli counter and saw they had 8 different pimento cheese spreads as well as a bakery counter that would make any sugar addict high. I will drive the one hour and forty-five minutes from Charlotte to eat here again!

We went at the peak of lunch rush hour. The parking lot was full, and then we saw the packed dining room and waiting area. When the hostess told us there was only a 15 minute wait I didn't believe that we'd be seated that quickly given the crowd. There were samples of the pimiento cheese and pita chips which if I lived in the area I would've certainly purchased to bring home for later. We were seated within the 15 minutes and our young daughters plates were brought within 3 minutes from ordering. The waitress made sure their food was a priority. Big plus! Granted they were the only 2 children in the restaurant during the whole time we were there. Our sandwiches were big enough for two people to share. We each had the potato salad. It was different, sweet with the pimiento cheese mixed in. This restaurant runs like a well oiled machine and you can tell by the quick turn of tables they have the organized chaos of the lunch rush down to a science.

ABSOLUTE BEST pimento cheese on the planet! I hate driving downtown, but I do like to reward myself with pimento cheese and garlic pita chips from Di Prato's when I'm there!

This is a hidden gem! The menu is vast, varied, and sophisticated with unique offerings catering to a wide variety of palates. The service was truly outstanding too! They use high quality ingredients that lend to very tasteful offerings. They even catered to my "off-the menu" special requests with a friendly smile. I sampled the broccoli salad, pine-nut & Romano-stuffed roma tomatoes, pickled green tomatoes, waldorf salad, vegan-stuffed grape leaves, tomato basil bisque with goat cheese soup, and their signature salad - highly recommend them all! I can't wait to go back. The only thing I didn't have was dessert, because their buttercream layer cakes aren't homemade/locally-made and instead purchased from a food distributor.

The pita chips and pimento cheese= awesome Equally awesome is the incredibly warm reception and show of Southern Hospitality these folks provided for us New Yorkers.

One of the best lunch spots in the Soda City. I love Tuesday's when they have the Bistro Salad (Filet, and herb infused goat cheese balls, served in a taco salad shell) get it with Dianne's Italian. Great sandwiches too. The Brunch is to die for. The homemade corn beef hash! Don't eat the canned stuff, but this stuff is out of this world! Their pimento cheeses are wonderful. The smoked Gouda bacon pimento cheese is unique and to die for. Love the turkey Ruben. Different but great. They also have wonderful Hot Dogs. Never had anything I didn't think was worth coming back for.

I've never been overwhelmed with the service - the employees have never been overly friendly or rude. I've only ordered to-go 4 times so maybe that's why the service I've received hasn't been the greatest. (To-go orders are usually called out by name as they come up and once we sat and sat and sat when our order had been brought out but no one called our name so we never knew until the cashier on the other end noticed that we'd been sitting for quite some time). The deli case has always been full and appears well kept. I've tried the Quattro Fromaggi panini and DiPrato's BLT neither left me wanting to try them again (I thought the mayo tasted a bit off on both sandwiches - they were ordered on separate occasions). I will agree that the pimento cheese (smoked gouda & bacon was my personal fav) and the pita chips are to die for... I ordered a huge bag twice and made myself sick because I couldn't stop snacking on them! I'm kind of feeling sick thinking about the chips now (I over did it)... When my taste buds recover I'll probably be back for more pitas!!!

We visited for the first time and ....WOW! This place is ahhhh-mazing! You must try the bacon and Gouda pimento cheese with the pita chips! Also, great service. All round- 5 stars!

*TIP*Just in town for a few days for a concert during the weekday. Excited to try this place and have breakfast. FYI, breakfast is only served on the weekends. Bummer.

The eggs Benedict with crab is AMAZING, that is if you don't fill up in the sharp pimento cheese with fresh pita chips first. Remember you can get pints+/- to take home for sandwiches later! Get there early. This place is small and fills up fast.

A great local place to eat lunch. Their famous pimento cheese and pita chips was incredible, as always. I also had one of their daily specials: "Southern Panzanella Salad." It had an amazing combination of cornbread, tomatoes, black eyed peas, cucumbers, red and green peppers, onions, and okra...fried okra! Unbelievable taste and FRESH! Others at the table had everything from the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich to "Thanksgiving Dinner on a Bun," and they all spoke highly of their meas too. I've never left Diprato's feeling disappointed. They call it "Southern Charm with New York Style." Highly recommend!

This place was very good!! Coffee was great. Mimosas excellent. Warm salty pita squares would have only been better if I knew they had hummus in their deli counter. (comes with pimento cheese). Ruben was stacked high with quality corned beef. Highly recommended.

This place is actually a solid 3.5 stars. My wife summed it up well when she said "I can't say anything bad about this place". The service was very fast and friendly. And the food was good, just nothing stood out as exceptional (We got the eggs Charleston and the sweet potato pancake special).

wow- to start, the pimento cheese spread was wonderful. Next came the blueberry pancakes with the home made sausage - yummy. The service was great. This might be our new place. Everything was delish.

Nice little deli / brunch place located on the outskirts of USC. Svereal of us met up here for lunch today and was not sure to expect if it was going to be busy since the St. Patty's festival in Five Points was going on at the same time, but place was packed (but not a long wait), but might have been since it was on the weekend. The hostess had taken us past the glass area where they have there pasta salads (and not sure about deli meats) on display. Not sure if this is typical, or just because it was crowded and the only way we could make it to our table. I got a deli sandwhich and not too over the top, and liked how they were still serving brunch. There was a wide variety of sandwhiches (from your average deli sandwhiches, to Pannini's, to other unique deli type sandwhiches), as well as a varety of pancake options and other breakfast options. Also looked like there was a variety of desserts on hand as well. The few (minor) complaints that I have is that sodas come in a 20 oz. bottle. Something different, but no free refills, like if there was a drink fountain available. May not typically be a problem, but had finished my soda and still was thirsty (since some of the items I had were garlicy). The only chips that came with my sandwhich were regular Ruffles, but wish there was a baked chip option to choose from. Parking wise, DiPrato's does not have a big lot and it did not look like there was atreet parking anywhere near the restaurant.

O MY... Finally! Found a place which sells real New York style pastrami sandwiches. This place has really good food. I've tasted the pimento cheese spread with pita chips - Awesome, the flash fried grouper sandwich - Awesome, the three potatoes potato salad - great and different, and the pastrami sandwich (New York style) is really good. My daughter had the Reuben and thought it was really good. It's located in the USC college area and the lunch crowd is massive; however, our wait was minimum. Beware though - parking sucks. The one time I ate in, the server made sure she took our order correctly and checked on us periodically to refill our drinks and make sure we were good. I've ordered the Thanksgiving in a sandwich to go and my mother and I didn't care for it. The grilled turkey was tasty; however, the other stuff on it didn't taste good together. This is a must go to restaurant. Highly recommend the Pastrami Sandwich.

If this place was in LA, 1. It would have had 1k+ reviews already. 2. I would be the Check-in Duchess. I don't know what 3 is, but this is the best brunch spot I've ever been to! I've been yearning their pimento cheese and pita chips since I got back to California ;(

Came here recently while on a trip. We were seated almost immediately, and had water waiting for us at the table. I ordered an omelet with biscuits and my boyfriend ordered scrabbled eggs with bacon, and biscuits and we split a fruit salad. Overall the food was excellent, but the service was lacking, and the signage isn't great.

Nice, classy and casual deli atmosphere. Parking is a little limited, and the place is generally pretty packed, so plan to go early if you are eating in. Service is always really nice and fast, even when they are slammed. Food is wonderful--everything I've ever tried here has been great, and I've been dozens of times for lunch or brunch. This most recent visit was a lunch visit, and I had the salad sampler (salad greens with a scoop of chicken salad and a scoop of tuna salad), and it was completely delicious and a substantial portion. Absolutely must-have are the pimiento cheeses and pita chips. I'm not sure that a better snack than that exists in the world. Just make sure to buy a lot if you're getting it to go...because you'll eat it all in the car on the way home otherwise! They are also nice for small parties. They have a room for them, but also can set you up in a fairly private alcove if that is booked. We had my sister's bridal shower here last year, and it was absolutely fantastic. Good food, good service, nice communication from the restaurant as we planned. Couldn't have been happier!

Was in the area for a business trip and found Di Prato's through Yelp. Ordered their Tuesday special -- bistro salad with steak, herb goat cheese and veggies in a taco shell. The salad was very good and the herbed goat cheese was not exactly what I expected but very satisfying lunch.

As much as I truly miss Dianne ' on Devine, Di Prato ' is hands down the best lunch delicatessen in town, they're daily specials are always great, as maxing craft burger if you go on the right day. -Ryan C.

Great sandwiches and great brunch (when you can get a table)!! The turkey sandwich with stuffing and cranberry sauce (can't remember what it's called) and corned beef hash are my respective favorites! The pita chips and jalapeno pimento cheese are a must-try as well!

  • Gary G.

Casual dinning with extraordinary well made food. The pimento cheese is the best. Brunch is crowded on Sat. and Sun, so be prepared to wait.

Solid breakfast joint in Columbia. Would like to try more items. Monte Cristo sandwich was good and not too sweet. Good portion sizes too. Biscuits are light and not too dry. Good service and nice ambiance. Their other dishes look very good and filling as well- great for brunch.

This place is top notch. Everything on the Menu is good, everything is super fresh. But the reason this place stands out for me is how they compensate you when they make mistakes. They forgot the avocado on my pick up order which was a Di Prato combo. At first, I thought they changed the menu, but the lady who managed the front was extremely apologetic and had told me she would take care of us the next time we came in. ( she knew whoever prepared the sandwiches accidentally forgot the avocados ) I've been coming here consistently for the last two years and they never disappoint!

I would come simply to Sample the pimento cheese and fried pita chips. I used to regularly beg coworkers to Go Here for a champagne Lunch. It is to die for.

Absolutely delicious. Pleasant and prompt service. Amazing food. I've eaten blueberry pancakes and onion sausage for brunch to bacon pimento cheeseburger for lunch and can't think on one negative remark. This deli is close to USC and stays pretty busy, but the staff is very attentive, and although it may be difficult to find parking in their lot, it is easy to find a space on the street. Pimento cheese rocks...rocky road cupcake was yummy....yep this place is just awesome.

  • James N.

Best pimento cheese in Columbia! I only had lunch there once and my sandwich was ok, but that doesn't matter because the pimento cheese is so good. Just get a couple orders of that and call it a meal. And take a couple orders home.

Great Pimento Cheese and Pita Chips. Great Sunday Brunch (even with the wait). Try the pick-and-choose from the deli case. Caprese Panini is delicious.

If you are looking for a place to go for Brunch, or a delicious lunch, then you have found the right spot. They have delicious sandwiches, great appetizers, and awesome pimento cheese dip/spread. The ingredients are fresh, and creatively put together. The only downside here is the wait, and the occasionally lack of communication by the host. That said, the wait is definitely worth it.

    (4)
  • Jared G.

Ate brunch here on Sunday after reading a few Yelp reviews. Great choice. The wait wasn't too bad - maybe 15 minutes. The waitress was very cordial and very patient as we went over the extensive menu. Great service! The choices at our table were pancakes, omelette, veggie sandwich and chicken saltembocca sandwich. All four were excellent. We ordered take home from the deli case as well. Price was very reasonable for all we had. We will definitely return. J

Great spot for brunch! We had a tasty meal yesterday! I am so happy to have finally checked out Di Prato's, which turned out to be everything I'd hoped it would be, love when that happens! Service was fantastic. They don't take reservations, but they did give me a heads up that if I got there before noon, it wouldn't be too busy. Well our group was a party of 12 and we were meeting for brunch at 11:00am. I got there 15 minutes early to ensure that we'd have tables set up. They actually were busy at that time, but they took care of setting up the tables quickly and by the time everyone else got there at 11, we were seated and taken care of. Our server Lindsay did an excellent job with our table, she was really nice and on top of all orders and very quick. The food was delicious too. I was excited to see soo many vegetarian options on the menu, it was nice to have more than three things to choose from! I tried their broccoli and cheese quiche, which tasted amazing. It was soft, creamy, flavorful, and just dissolved in my mouth w/each bite. The dish came with a side of fruit as well as potato cheese casserole, which was equally as mouthwatering as the quiche. I'd love to go back and have the entree again. The atmosphere at Di Prato's is sunny, open, busy with chatter and life, and smells wonderful. If you're a brunch person, this place will not disappoint.

Thanks to Yelp I found this place here in Columbia. I am stationed at Fort Jackson right now and not too many folks on base know about the good local eateries, other than those in plain sight. My wife and I tried it for lunch today. It was very nice. The staff was very pleasant and our order was prepared quickly and to perfection! They have a great menu. The other reviews cover it all. The panini's were "as good as it gets!" and their mayo+pesto sauce creation is amazing. I did not find it to be very kid friendly though, for kids under 5 that is. Even if we can't come eat in we will definitely be ordering take-out :) Oh and they have canolli's and the cheesecake looked so good, but we didn't have any dessert this time...

Di Prato's is a busy little place, I don't know my way around Columbia, but the directions were, it used to be the Purple Cow. Whatever that means. You can grab lunch, the usual suspects, sandwiches, soups and salads. They also offer all kinds of sides by the pound, perfect to grab for a party or picnic. When you walk in the door you form a line and order, grab a beverage and pay, then go sit at a table and a server will bring your food. The best thing about the line, they have pita chips and pimento cheese for you to sample. Let me tell you. A tub of pimento cheese made its way home with us. It was possibly the best pimento cheese( $5.) I have ever had and really not that much more expensive than what I buy at Harris Teeter and a million times better. The pimento cheese alone is worth a visit. Servers were very nice and seemed like everyone enjoyed their job. Di Prato's has plenty of vegetarian friendly dishes and outdoor seating. I think they serve dinner in the evening and it is normal table service and a different menu, but don't quote me!

We came into town for a football game and decided to order in off the catering menu instead of going out to eat on Friday night. Got: half pan eggplant parmesan, half pan riggies, 3 pounds pimento cheese, 100 mini meatballs, small salad with raspberry dressing and 5 pounds pulled pork. Served about 25 people(full dinner) on Friday night. Runaway favorites were the pimento cheese and eggplant Parmesan. Brought the heated up leftovers to the tailgate on sat. Had about 15 rolls left so made open face pork sandwiched (about 30) and served some on the pita chips from the pimento cheese. Also had about 30 mini meatballs, a pound of pimento cheese and half a pan of the riggies left.. Huge bang for our buck. Great service from dipratos folks . Food was great. Would recommend maybe more buns for the amount of pork that we had.

I had to give this place a five because every meal was made with attention and care. Consistency gets lots of points in my book. I've been here three times in the past seven days, and every item I've ordered has been good and warm/hot. All their dishes aren't the best in the world, but they aren't bad. If you don't like sandwiches, just order something from their chilled display case. They'll heat it up (if needed/desired), plate it, and bring it out to your table. Just make sure you read the ingredients listed underneath the items you are interested in. If you detest something on the list, don't be an idiot and order it. Of course, the pimento cheese is great! I'd recommend this place for any regular Colloquium customer on campus. You're paying about the same amount but for better quality food!

A-OK sandwich shop This is a nice place to get a sandwich or a salad. This was our first time here... when you walk in you're not sure if you should sit or wait or explore the deli cases...They don't offer table service, but they do have a rather extensive menu. You sit and look at the menu, or you can go peruse the deli cases- then go to an order counter to place your order-it seems a little unorganized, being a newbie to the restaurant we were not quite sure what to order... Like I said they do have an extensive menu, some of the items sound very good! The atmosphere is open and airy, and its nice and clean- lots of wait staff, so many staff members it seems they would be more helpful with the aspects of placing an order...oh well, after a few more visits I suppose one will know what, when, and where to order. This is what we ordered... Quattro Formaggi Panini. Fresh mozzarella, provolone, herbed havarti and muenster cheeses. Served with your choice of basil pesto mayonnaise or roasted red bellpepper mayonnaise Anipasto Salad. Romaine & iceberg lettuce with genoa salami, provolone cheese, marinated roasted red & yellow bell peppers, vine ripened tomatoes, red onion, artichokes & calamata olives. Served with "Dianne's" in house Italian dressing on the side. The food is okay- pretty standard fare, maybe a little overpriced

First time there was a pleasure. Their philly steak was excellent, and the fresh pita...phenomenal!! I got some of their homemade pimento cheese to go and it is absolutely delicious. The rest of their menu looked really good. The service was excellent and I will definitely be trying this place again.

Di Prato's pimiento cheese with fried pita chips. Oh yes. And they have a terrific black eyed pea salad too. Deviled crabs! Grilled asparagus! Tomato pies topped with...yes...pimiento cheese!

I highly recommend Di Prato's Delicatessen. The daily lunch entrees are really good but the Sunday lunch buffet is GREAT! Some of the menu options include: Eggs Charleston w/Crab Cakes served with Adluh grits, Banana Pecan Pancakes, Cho Chip Pancakes w/candied pecan topping, Peaches and Cream Pancakes served with Applewood smoked bacon....Check out other Sunday menu options on their web site. Arrive early b/c they get really crowded and don't forget to dress up!!

This is one of the places we go most often for lunch when in Columbia. Di Prato's is owned by the same folks who own Dianne's on Devine, and that alone should tell you it is worth a try. They have great salads and sandwiches and have no problems accommodating picky eaters. I have eaten here with at least a dozen different people and no one has ever left unhappy. If you have room, get dessert- it is yummy. This places gets busy and you may have to wait for a table, if the weather is nice sit outside on the porch.

In Columbia for business and our group went to Di Prato's for lunch. Great choice. If a Shrimp Po'Boy is on the menu than is always my choice as it is not readily available in my home turf of Northern California. The sandwich was great as was the company.

I've eaten here for Sunday brunch a number of times and I have yet to be thrilled. The staff and dining room are nice, but the menu items are somewhat dull. I am an eggs benedict fan, but the Di Prato's versions are not that great. Overall, the English muffins are a little too hard. The fish flavor in the crab cake eggs benedict overpowers the other flavors. The steak medallions on another version were bland and tough. The pancakes and French toast are standard fare. The true standout is the potato cheese casserole. I have heard the pimiento cheese is outstanding, but I haven't tried it. Why have a kept going if it's not that outstanding? It's a good place for groups (get there before 11:30am if you are with more than 4 people to get quick seating), it's consistent, and I like the ambiance. It's definitely worth a try.

great food and perfect for a quick lunch or sunday breakfast. it is a casual airy space with fast service. tables are bussed quickly and kept clean. they offer deli sandwiches, hot paninis, as well as a good variety of cakes/pies for desserts. the red velvet cake is quite good. ample parking in an adjacent lot as well as on the street. a hidden jewel in columbia, sc!

Di Prato's is a fantastic little spot in Columbia. The pimento cheese is the best I've ever had and is downright addictive, particularly when paired with the pita chips. I've had several sandwiches here, and all have been very good (the Cuban) or excellent (the rosemary-ham). I've also been here for a catered event, and almost everything on the buffet of heavy hors d'oeuvres was excellent. Highly recommended.

The pimento cheese (w/pita chip) is the best, and even better on the Monday burger special. I also love the reuben and monte cristo. Haven't had anything I didn't like and can't wait to go back and try more. Especially the desserts, they look amazing.

Everything a good breakfast place should be. Fluffy omelettes loaded with goodies. Cheesey home fries. Buttery grits. Real sausage cooked properly. Fast, friendly service. Homey atmosphere. Their coffee is excellent, too. I have to come back for their famous pimento cheese dip with pita chips!

Our kids are in school at USC, so we often come here when we're in town. I've only ever been for brunch, so this review is based solely on that. Never tried the deli items. The breakfast food is really good - nicely prepared. They do a good job of getting your food out in a timely manner, and we've been with large groups before, and all the meals were reasonably timed and came out at nearly the same time. That's not easy with breakfast items. So kudos. Now for the less than great: Last weekend when we were here, we did not have our usual flawless meal. I ordered the eggs benedict. My husband ordered an omelet with bacon and toast. My poached eggs had obviously been sitting in water, because when I cut into them, water poured out. It was really gross. I mentioned it to the waiter and he asked if I wanted to send it back - I didn't because we both had our meals, so I powered through, knowing (as a former chef) exactly what had happened. The real dealbreaker came when my husband went to put jelly on his toast. He opened the packet and it just looked odd - so he looked at the wrapper. It was sugar-free blackberry jam. Hmmmm, pretty specific choice if you didn't specify what kind of jelly you wanted. So he asked the water for some strawberry or grape jelly instead. It was delivered, but alas, it was also sugar free. So he just went with it, but it wasn't good at all. He asked the waiter if all the jelly was sugar free, and without checking, the waiter said that yes, that was all they served. Really? I seriously find that hard to believe. He didn't even go check. And if that really is the case, get some regular jelly. You're a breakfast/brunch place! Unacceptable. It might have turned us off enough not to go back unfortunately.

Sooo, not feeling Di Prato's. Dont see 2 stars and think bad though. It's just--Ive experienced better is all. It wasn't really because of the food. That was average. The ambiance is diner, down to the tablecloth (I dont know what the material is called, but you know the one; the shiny reflective ones that slides all over the place). I arrived, the wait was not long, but my gf hadnt shown up yet upon getting seated. I waited for about 10 minutes, was offered coffee water etc..When she arrived, the waitress bee lined back to us to get her a drink and ask if we were ready, but she just sat down so she needed a few moments to look at the menu. After that, I didnt see our waitress for 10/15 minutes. Didnt think much of it because I kind of held her up with the rest of my party not being present upon getting seated. She finally came back and took our order. I kid you not, I watched 4 tables come and go by the time we got our food. It was at least 30 minutes before our food was brought to us. Our ticket must have just been passed over or forgotten..I dont know, but the wait was pretty ridiculous. I ordered the veggie omelet, which came with swiss cheese, and the slice was placed on top of the omelet, not in it--weird. My gf ordered the pancakes with peaches and some other things on it, which Im assuming were pretty stellar considering she ate every single bite. Nice server, pretty busy place, but the the food was average, and the wait was below average.

Regular pimento cheese with the pita chips. A MUST. There's almost no point in coming here unless you've already gotten sick of eating so much of the pimento cheese. My biggest gripe with this restaurant? The strange hours... On weekdays, 10-6. I'm not complaining about it being closed around dinner time, but opening at 10AM? What about the normal working residents in Columbia? What about the HUNDREDS of hungry college students who have early morning classes? This spot would've been perfect for a quick breakfast before a busy day. But for whatever reason, it's aiming more for a brunch feel? Shame. Ps: they only seem to specialize in tomato basil soup with goat cheese. I've been here so many times now... I'm tempted to ask if they EVER have a different "soup of the day".

My son goes to school in Columbia. Every time I go I have to go and get their portobello mushroom Sandwich. The jalapeño pimento cheese dip is addicting especially with the warm garlic pita chips. Everything I have tried has been delicious. Get there early especially on game days! They are too busy to even do carry out.

Came here for Father's Day and birthday brunch. DELICIOUS! The meals were filling and everything tasty. Solid coffee too. Definitely more of a diner feel than your typical brunch feel with cocktails, but still awesome. Highly recommend the heuvos rancheros. Also really enjoyed the potato hash - INCREDIBLE! Everyone was very happy with their meals. And we may have seen a local USC coach hanging out too...

Di Prato's is the pimento cheese palace in my personal opinion. Everyone raves about it and the delicious pita chips! Don't miss out on them! They have a large variety of sandwiches but I always seem to end up here for brunch on the weekends - not that there's anything wrong with that! (It does get a little crowded on the weekends so you might have to wait a bit for a table but the staff does their best to move everyone through in a timely manner.) I love the omelets. I ordered one the last time and it came with a biscuit, bacon and cheesy hash browns. So much food and so much yum. I had leftovers to take home. I'm also a big fan of the french toast. They have a case of sides and salads (potato, egg etc) that you can have to go. Don't miss out on the decadent desserts too!

What a great gem. We chose the pita chips and pimento cheese for a yummy starter. I had the "Psss...Try...Me" (hot pastrami on pumpernickel) sandwich. Oh, it was soo good. My side was fresh fruit. My wife had the Eggs Charleston. I had to sneak a bite of the hash browns with cheese. I could make a meal of that, alone. I guess I will have this as my side my next visit. Hope you enjoy this place as much as we did.

Phenomenal brunch. Highly recommend the French toast and of course, the palmetto cheese! Just be prepared for a long wait on Saturdays and Sunday's

Di Prato's was packed when we went there for a late breakfast on a Saturday. Luckily the staff seemed to be used to a full house because the service was still great. The eggs benedict was great! Two of us got that and we were both really happy. It was exactly what I needed to fulfill my eggs benedict craving. I get eggs benedict all the time so I know when its the good stuff! We did get extremely watery grits though. My friend got the banana pancakes. She was disappointed because they weren't cooked with mashed banana in the batter like we were all used to. They tasted like regular pancakes with a couple of large banana pieces thrown into the batter. I will definitely stop by next time I am in Columbia but we may try lunch!

I was anxious to try this #1 rated restaurant. I drove straight from the airport to try this local favorite. Go before noon and you will be seated and served immediately. This has the best pimento cheese in the area. I had a pick two lunch (I actually chose three). I had their sharp cheddar pimento cheese on sour dough, their tomato bisque soup with goat cheese and their signature salad. I enjoyed their pimento cheese as it was not "gloppy" with mayo. The cheese seemed finely shredded which made it taste delicate and not heavy. I enjoyed it so much I took home a small container of half sharp and half jalapeño to snack on all week. The tomato soup was creamy and delicious. The addition of goat cheese gave it the right amount of zip. The signature salad had a nice ratio of blue cheese to praline pecans. The ripe, halved strawberries and two rings of red onions were just the right portion with the amount of spring mix. I did not care for the sweet dressing, I am glad I had it on the side. The owner was very sweet and greeted everyone at the door. Attentive service, great food. Next time I will try their sandwiches. I needed to pace myself for all the eating I did over the week.

Yelped Di Prato's and decided to check it out. When I arrived I was a little discourage because the parking lot was filled with vehicles. With the grace of God, a parking space opened for me. Lady in front greeted and took my name down. 10 mins later I was seated and served by Morgan. I explained to her I was not from here and had no clue on the type of food they served. She recommended the Italian Hoagie Arnold Palmer. Best sandwich I ever tasted. Thanks for the great customer service and Military discount!

One of the best Delis in the Columbia area. Though the dining area is large, it has a great atmosphere. And the deli sandwiches are VERY good; tender meat and soft bread. I love a deli sandwich with soft bread. I had the turkey Reuben and would order it again. My daughter had the portobello mushroom sandwich and she was very happy. I will hopefully come here again.

I loved the homemade pita chips! Both the pimento cheese and hummus were great dipping choices. I had the Cobb salad with a side of fruit and it was the perfect lunch. Servers were friendly and attentive without being overbearing.

Bestie and i enjoyed some breakfast happiness before heading out of town on Memorial Day wknd. Lindsey was the type of waitress i imagine i'd be: efficient, sharp, and polite but not chatty. the coffee was superb, we were seated in almost no time (even dangerously close to Church dismissal on a Sunday), and even if the Eggs Charleston wasn't the prize i was anticipating, DiPrato's did convert me to an Adluh grit lover.

Fantastic service food and prices! Total package! Brunch on sat and sun. By USC residential area and student housing. Great ambience. Parking abundant.

Cute little deli/dinner tucked away in Columbia. As an Italian I can vouch for this place as I am never disappointed and always tempted to try something new. My two favorites are the Di Pratos signature salad and the chicken saltimbocca panini, both are mouth-watering. They have classic Italian salads and samples behind a glass casing at the counter which are just as delicious as the food off the menu. My only complaint is that they close at 6pm everyday, wish they stayed open later!

This is both one of the best brunch and sandwich spots in Columbia. They offer brunch on Saturdays and Sundays and I would recommend to come early if you want to beat the crowd, especially if you are coming with a crowd. The bright side of waiting? They offer samples of their legendary pita chips and pimento cheese on Sundays while you wait. Caution: the pimento cheese is addicting and the pita chips are filling. The atmosphere is casual, homey and friendly. The owners typically greet you at the door and can be found talking to patrons and helping waitstaff. Love the humbleness of this place, definitely a neighborhood corner deli kind of feel. Now for the menu. Be prepared to be overwhelmed. The deli menu features a huge assortment of sandwiches with everything from philly cheesesteaks, French dips, and authentic Italian creations. The biggest downside? Deciding what you are going to order. In addition to the sandwich menu you have brunch which features some traditional staples. the Benedicts: delicious; huevos rancheros: delicious; monte cristo sandwhich: delicious. The portions are decent, prices are right and you will never have an empty glass of water. This is somewhere you will find yourself dreaming about and talking about to out-of-towners--it's just that good. This is one of the few places in Columbia I seem to never get bored of and have yet to have an unpleasant experience.

Maybe it was just a bad day for the restaurant I don't know. It was my first time here. I got the croissant with sausage egg and cheese and it was pretty bad. It had an overwhelming amount of cheese on it and the croissant just tasted weird in a bad way. It may have been because of the panini maker they placed it in. Also, the Orange juice was horrible, it tasted like something gross had been placed in it or something. I couldn't even drink more than a few sips. On the other hand, the people who worked there were very friendly, and my boyfriend did like his biscuits and gravy.

Doesn't get better than that. Pimento cheese rocks - get a couple of containers for pre-dinner snacks!

Place is really good. Nice "house" atmosphere with quick service and ultra fresh, delicious food. I shared a veggie panini and a greek salad with my daughter. Loved them both. Large portions and filling. Huge menu with both breakfast and lunch selections. Prices are reasonable as well.

Di Prato's is a favorite in Columbia. It's a cute little deli. I will tell you, if you are coming here for the first time, you must order the pimento cheese and pita chips. Their pimento cheese is so good, it's sold in grocery stores locally. The pita chips are fried, not baked, but whatever, live a little, it's worth it in this case. All their sandwiches are great, if not a little greasy and soggy. Their salads are all made with a iceberg/romaine blend, leaning heavily more on iceberg, so they're not that great. Unless you like that kind of thing. I have ordered the turkey reuben and it was delicious but EXTREMELY messy and also the southwestern, which was actually kind of bland. My brother ordered a breakfast croissant sandwich and he said it was heavenly. Di Prato's is cute and I would recommend this place for brunch. I would ask to sit in the garden room. Don't forget the pimento cheese!

I've been to this restaurant for lunch on a few occasions throughout the last three years and honestly I am not impressed with their food. I've noticed it's over the top or extremely bland. For the money you spend you could eat at many other restaurants in Columbia.

Pimento cheese and pita chips are amazing! Chicken salad on wheat is really great also! Love this place.

Back again for take out sandwiches and pimento cheese. I had a triple decker reuben--excellent flavor though it was too big for me (I took out the middle slice of bread). Leftovers are never bad in my book, though, so I'm still really happy!

We had a really fantastic lunch here. After seeing the positive reviews, we stopped in while passing through town on a road trip. On a Saturday at 12 PM, I thought it might be crowded for brunch, but we easily got a parking spot and a table. Great brunch options (mimosas!), great lunch options, great desserts. I had the fresh garden vegetable sandwich then a slice of chocolate cake, and both were really excellent. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Do it.

Pimento cheese dips are what South Carolina is all about and Di Prato's pimento cheese dips are legendary. The warm pita chips are the perfect vessel for this food. However, the chips have a lot of garlic powder on them. Recently I had the Cuban sandwich and it was amazing. Brunch is great here and there is a reason why it's packed for brunch.

We decided to try this out for Brunch. We made the right decision by heading there early. We arrived around 10:30am or so, and got one of the last tables available. By the time we had our food, the waiting area was swarmed. This is a popular brunch spot. The food was really good. I ordered an omelette with egg whites and chose sausage and casserole as the sides. My wife got the Eggs Benedict with casserole. For a light meal, mine was very tasteful. The casserole was the best part, and I enjoyed mixing it up with the omelette. The sausage was also very good, far better than the average breakfast spot. My wife loved her Eggs Benny. It isn't the most ambient place, but that's not the goal. I like that it's casual and relaxed, and prefer that over more formal brunch places. The prices were reasonably compared to other brunch restaurants. We will go here again.

This place is a must try! I have never been disappointed with the food or service. The owner is always present with a smile on her face and the staff is on top of their game! I love going for Brunch, the menu has so many tasty options to chose from, it takes you awhile to decide. If you're going during the week for lunch, they offer daily lunch specials. Check this place out, you'll be glad you did!

We searched on yelp for a good restaurant in Columbia, SC and saw a great review for this place. They definitely lived up to the reviews. Great food!! We tried the jalapeño pimento cheese and it was delicious. They deep fry the pita chips. Soooo good! Everything was great!! I would definitely go back again.

My wife and I stopped in for lunch on a Friday morning about 11:30. We were just ahead of a major lunch crowd, most of which were locals clearly (which we are not) including seniors, college students, and everyone in between. The menu is diverse and flavorful but heavy--the portions are large large large (which is not always a good thing with fried food, of course). We ordered a "small" of the pita chips and found maybe 24 chips, cut from pita bread and fried, in the bowl. We could eat only a few each, with the hummus. They were good, but HEAVY. The Sailor's Sandwich was a disappointment, mainly because it just isn't a great idea, it turns out, to pair sausage and pastrami and mustard on thin bread. . .it just falls apart. My wife's salad was tasty and fresh. The service staff is quick, well-mannered, and professional---the owners can be proud of everyone on staff I'm sure. The only minor problem was the temperature--it was in the mid-90's outside and felt like the mid-60's inside (!) due to the air conditioner and fans going strong--just a little too cold. I'm not sure I'd go back--not a destination restaurant--but not a poor choice for a quick, local bite.

Stopped by just in time for Sunday Brunch. Great experience for my 1st visit and it won't be my last! But beware you need to bring your appetite, and maybe a few friends for the portions are large!! I ordered their homemade corned beef hash with poached eggs, biscuit and potato cheese casserole... you could actually see, and taste, the corned beef in the hash and the whole thing was delicious. Could only finish maybe half and I still felt the need to waddle out the door! But not before I ordered a few things from their deli counter to take home: marinated artichokes with olives, broccoli salad, chicken salad and fried plantains...yum!

Four fine pimento cheese selections. A host of well crafted sandwich preparations. Inviting, friendly, and attentive service. Outdoor Italy decor. Everything is rigged for success and good times here.

Although there was quite a crowd outside of the restaurant, we only had to wait for 20 minutes for a table during the busy Sunday brunch time. We had the pimento cheese and pita chip appetizer which was a huge portion and delicious. The warm chips had a fresh flavor that was hard to stop munching on. I had the Eggs Benedict with the potato casserole which was good but not the best I've ever had. My boyfriend had the Di Prato combo which he described as "good, but pretty average". The staff was friendly and quick and our food was served shortly after we order. I would try this place again but order a different entree.

OUTSTANDING! We were seated quickly, service was impeccable and our food was very good! The portions are huge - we are taking a lot home with us. This was our first visit - we will be back, for sure, to try brunch!

Pimento cheese legends! You have to get the pita chips and pimento cheese...it's addicting! Heck, the pita chips are good by themselves! This is a great little delicatessen. The food is pretty gourmet for a reasonable price. I like to get the Quattro Fromaggi panini with some added oven roasted turkey. Mmmmm so good!
