Hands-down! Best Mexican food around! Prices on food AND drinks are low.. Tho it doesn't show in the quality of the food. We love coming here. The staff is wonderful, very friendly and personable. Would recommend to anyone! Bonus at the end of the meal they almost always bring out a free dessert! Ice cream and sweet Mexican chips with whipped cream! (My favorite part) :) yummy!

Always 100% for service, food, prices, casual ambiance. And I don't like Mexican food as a rule. Been going here for over four years. Love it!!

I'm not sure how I ended up here but I did! Decent Mexican food, great prices and great drinks. It was cheap, I'll give it that much. Quite the crowd around lunch time and I'm not sure where they all came from. We had a party of 12 and the server handled herself great. They need to improve on the chips/salsa. That was probably the least impressive part of the meal.

The other night we ate there after being on lake all day. Did not want to cook. We arrived and had a minimal wait. The past two times that we have eaten there we have almost felt like we were being rushed out of the place. We ordered our margaritas, asked for water with lemon. Never got water until meal. They serve the chips practically as you are sitting down. RUSH...I ordered the Guacamole Mexicano to eat with chips. Heaping plenty but there was sooooooo much lemon juice in the bowl that is was almost Guacomole soup. Was a bit disappointed. When our meal arrived my husband order the shrimp plate that has the vegetables on it. They were so over cooked that they were chard looking. Almost asked them to take it back. My dish was the shrimp dish without vegetables with rice and salad. It was okay except I asked them to hold the onions and it came out with the onions all over the shrimp. We were still finishing our meal and the waiter asked would we like the ice cream dessert. We said yes but please hold because we are still eating. Boom the plate arrives and I am still eating my shrimp. I like quick service, but lately they are more concerned about turning the tables over and getting more people in there. We typically like the place but the past two experiences have been less favorable.

We have eaten here four or five times over the past year and we really like it. We've dined here with others and they too enjoyed it. Service is very quick and they always give you chips and salsa to start and an ice cream dessert after the meal to share. Some of our favorites are Pollo Loco, Pollo Fundido, Arroz con pollo and the fajitas. The only thing stopping me from giving it a five star review is that I am a huge Sangria fan--most Mexican restaurants make their own and serve it with fresh fruit. Sadly, El Poblano does not--I never asked, but I think it might actually be Yago, lol. Anyway, it's never stopped me from patronizing them and the food is very good.

Good food and good value for the money. There is a nice variety of daily specials and they are accommodating when asked for extras and adjustments.

Delicious Mexican food! What a gem of a restaurant deep in the heart of South Carolina. The enchiladas and soft tacos hit the spot after a long drive. This review was is a week late.

Very disappointed in coupon policy. 2nd time they came up with an excuse to deny a $5 off coupon with $25 food order. 1st time we had 16 at our table for a bday party and when we tried to use 2 coupons for our party, they said only 1 per table, even though they had to put 4 tables together to accommodate us and we spent over $350 as a group on food and beverages. Tonight, we spend $30 on food and because 2 of the entrees were $1.50 off each as the daily special, they again refuse the coupon because they say the special is "another offer". To rectify the situation in our minds, we leave the $5 coupon as $5 of the tip. Hate to do that to a server who has no control over the mgmt who is making this ludicrous decision, but wanted to get the message across somehow. This policy will definitely keep me from coming back.

The food was filling and the service was excellent! It is definitely the best Mexican food in the area. Thank you!

We have been eating here for years and are thrilled it's so close to home. The staff is very friendly and food comes out quickly, highly recommended! My favorites are the Tacos de Carne Asada and #18 on the dinner menu.

Decent Mexican food. Nothing spectacular. This place is very much like the San Jose and Monterrey chains around the area. What sets this restaurant apart is the margarita they make. Hands down best I have had at a Mexican restaurant! The staff is very friendly and attentive. You also get sweet cinnamon tortilla chips with whipped cream for dessert!

Well....the food is just okay. I wouldn't rave about it though. We have dined at many Mexican restaurants over the years, and this one is definitely not up to par with flavor compared to other Mexican restaurants. The restaurant was busy for a lunch time crowd. Table was a little sticky. Too much clutter on the table. No room for big menus & our plates. I ordered the Fish Tacos. First bite...a bone! called the waiter over, showed him. He didn't say anything, he just took my plate off the table. I wasn't sure if it was a language barrier thing or what....so i told him I would get something else instead. Sent it back & ordered the Vegetarian Quesadilla......bleh :( It was loaded with spinach...wet, soggy & had a kind of sour taste. It had a few mushrooms & onions inside...but I don't know why they put 5lbs of old spinach on it. Hubby had the Chicken & Beef burritos. He was also put off by the lack of flavor. We were obviously disappointed. We really wanted this to be a fav little mexican place to eat, judging by the style, decor & many many menu options to choose from. It started off great...with the friendly greeting & atmosphere.....but quickly took a nosedive with the food. Completely bleh....we stopped on the way home for icecream just to get the sour taste from my mouth. I guess it's busy because it's kind of out there in the country...and not many restaurant options around there. We prefer to drive 20 or so minutes further out for better tasting food.

Hands down, the best Mexican Restaurant I've ever been to. If you're going on a weekend, go early because this place gets crowded quick. We like to go on Friday nights and sit at the bar, but if we don't get there before 6pm, we're lucky to find seats. We've never had a really long wait though; it's a large restaurant so they have a pretty quick turnover. It's a bit nicer than most Mexican restaurants and they have an outside patio seating area which is a plus. The servers are great and recognize me and my wife because we've always brought our own hot sauce (we're chili-heads and most restaurants don't have anything spicy enough for us.) As soon as we walk in the door, they start pouring our drinks because we order the same thing every time: A large Dos Equis and a medium margarita. The drinks are very cheap and VERY good. I normally can't stand margaritas at restaurants because they use that neon green sugar mix. I've been spoiled because I always make them fresh at home. But the margarita's at El Poblano's give my fresh 'ritas a run for their money. The food is a couple steps up from your typical cookie-cutter Mexican restaurant. I've never ordered anything there I didn't like. I usually order one or two items off of the side menu and it's plenty of food; fried burritos and chicken poblanos are my favorites. My wife orders Carnitas (extra crispy) and we always have plenty of leftovers. Make sure to save room for flan. It's absolutely incredible! I'm not a dessert person... I very rarely eat sweets, but my mouth is watering just thinking about that flan right now!

We have eaten at this restaurant over 100 times over the past few years. The owner is very friendly and makes you feel at home. However tonight we sat down and ordered just like we have many times before. After a few minutes the waiter returns and states he can not accommodate my order. I had asked to exchange one item only on the plate for another item on the menu. This has been done more than 20 times over the years. He did not ask if I would pay more ALL HE SAID was NO! I told him I would pass on any meal from them and let the rest of my party order. After a few minutes I thought about it and asked to speak to the owner. He had sat us at our table earlier so I knew he was there. The waiter said, he would be right over. A few minutes later, another gentlemen shows up and introduces himself as the manager. The portable phone he is carrying rings and he doesn't say a word and walks away to answer it! Okay? He then returns after his brief conversation. I stated my case and told him I was not happy. He then wanted to know, when and who accommodated my request in the past! At that point this was not going to go well!! He was very confrontational and obviously did not care if he lost a customer!!Since I had not been keeping score of dates and times, obviously I could not answer him. I did ask him if he knew anything about customer service. Then catching myself before I embarrassed my party I told him forget it. The food is good but the HELP doesn't care about you. Try one of the other 4 Mexican restaurants in Chapin if you want good service!!! They have lost my business and I think they don't care.

Nice Mexican restaurant in Chapin. Excellent lunch specials. Not a big fan of the salsa because they use horseradish so it taste like cocktail sauce. Again the good and service is good.

Great $3.50 Mojitos. Love the Queso Fundido. My favorite Columbia, SC area restaurant. Was so surprised to find such a great authentic, inexpensive Mexican restaurant in Chapin. It does tend to be incredibly crowded on Fridays, get there before 6:30 p.m.

As far as food goes, it's your typical Mexican fare. Fajitas, combo meals, etc. It's good though. Margaritas are good too, especially the peach and mango. Drink prices are reasonable. Service has always been good. Servers are very attentive without being overyly so.

Decent food and the prices and drinks are pretty good too. It's quite busy almost always. Not sure if it's because there aren't many other choices in the area or because it's just good food. I do love that they give you pico de gallo with the chips and not just a watery version of salsa.

Great Mexican food, fast friendly service, and very good prices. More more do you want? If you are in the mood for Mexican, then come here with the whole family and you still won't spend a fortune. The main reason I'm giving 5 stars, which I do not do very often, is because of the prices.

Love the fajitas here. I enjoy a side of grilled jalapeños with my fajitas because the food on the east coast isn't spicy. So I taste tested all 3 of the grilled peppers and they were very mild. The waiter heard me say that and pulled 2 little peppers out of his pocket and said try these. Very tasty little peppers. Hot like a Serrano and flavor like a habanero. Awesome time! And best waiter

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
