Where do I start. Arrived... Plenty of tables. Told it would be 10-15 minutes.... Told to sit by bar. (So we would order drinks and improve their bottom line). Sure enough right after our drinks arrived we were seated. Waiter was slow and had a kind of attitude. No gluten menu. Choice of only three salad dressings, two creamy and fattening......salad very small and boring. Took 20 minutes to get iced tea....had to ask about my tea....it was so diluted, it looked like faintly colored water...... Half jokingly complained to waiter about it... He wasn't amused and offered no excuses..... Ordered mahi -mahi marinated in teriyaki sauce. It was not marinated in anything. Very bland. Ordered vegetables...... Came out very lightly steamed..... Very undercooked, basically raw. not good. Waiter was AWOL most of meal. Manager came by when we were done and asked how everything was. I quizzed him about the marinade and he explained that I was wrong, the fish was marinated, and it has been on the menu for 18 years..... Implying that it was good and I must be some kind of clod to have not liked it. They don't over marinate it, he said because then it gets too salty, the marinate soaks into the fish .... no, it had not been marinated at all. I hate it when the staff ignores your complaints and acts like the problem is YOU, not them. He did say when (sic) I come back again, and when I don't like their food to take only one Bite and let them know immediately it is unacceptable, they would get me something as a replacement. well I didn't have the heart to tell him we, as well as most of the others in the restaurant were from out of town, and most of us most likely wouldn't be back. I sure wouldn't be back to collect on his offer to replace a bad meal, after one bite for something else. there was a nasty brown sauce served with the fish...was sickly sweet and oily looking..... Couldn't figure out what it was. There were a couple raw scallops served as well, that were bland, as a raw scallop should be. wife ordered salmon and had no complaints. For over 20$ for both entrees the portions were very skimpy. Her salmon was served with a plain looking white rice. Food was way to expensive for what you got.... Very basic/plain food.... Nothing gourmet by any means.....

If this shows up with a Bluffton address its not valid. This is a Hilton Head resturant

Bottom line: Great location and atmosphere, so-so food. This was our third time at Scott's - we love the live music and wonderful view of the marina. But every time I was hoping that the food would be on par with the prices, and every time the food is disappointing. This time my husband ordered a special that was actually not bad (but expensive), but my mahi was dry and barely edible. But the live music is good, cocktails are good, and the service is consistently good. So if you are looking for the place to listen to music and enjoy the view, I would recommend Scott's. If you are looking for a good seafood, there are better options.

Great view. OK food. If you are in the mood for great seafood, you can find better options (Sea Grass Grille across the street, Charlie's L'etoile Verte up the road).

Delicious! We started with a dozen oysters, the fresh ones available that day. There weren't multiple choices, like some restaurants offering oysters on the half shell typically have, but the ones we got were good. I love oysters, so that was a treat! I had the house salad, which was good, then the baked scallops with the vegetable of the day and rice pilaf. I meant to sub the rice for double vegetables, but I loved the scallops and veggies! I will definitely order it again. The bites of she crab soup I had were great, and they pride themselves on their recipe. I found the wine selection to be limited, but found a Sauvignon blanc that worked. The view is pretty, in Shelter Cove, and the restaurant takes reservations every day but Tuesday, which is the day that Shelter Cove does fireworks, and the marina is very crowded that day. Unless you're going along with going for the fireworks, I'd suggest another night, since it can get crowded and parking can be difficult.

We chose Scott's Fish Market on our first night on HHI. The place was busy and since it was raining out, all patrons were packed inside and the nice outdoor seating they offer was left empty. The tables inside are a little tight. We were seated right away, however, and our table was watered immediately. Do yourself a favor and grab a soda or a drink from the bar. The water on HHI leaves much to be desired. We chose margaritas on the rocks and wow!!! These were the best margaritas we've ever had. Not too tart with the perfect hint of tequila. We skipped an appetizer course simply because the prices were a little higher than we expected. The grouper over pasta special for the evening was priced at a hefty $26. The two teens in our group went with a grilled chicken sandwich which they loved. These were around $12 and served with fries. My mother and I both had the tomato and onion salad as our entrees along with an appetizer, all priced around $10. I had the Sausalito Shrimp and she had the derived crab. All were delicious and filling. The shrimp were blackened and very spicy which I loved. My mother said the deviled crab was so delicious she wanted to cry. No seriously, she said that. The best part of the meal was the tomatoes in the tomato and onion salad. I've never had a tomato in any restaurant ever that tasted like I'd just picked it from my backyard garden and these did. They were a wonderful surprise and perfect for a summer evening! Service was good. But if you're from the south and expecting sweet tea, don't. They do not have it. But don't let that stop you from enjoying Scott's. Just order the margarita instead! Cheers!

This place is beautiful inside and out. My boyfriend and I dined here on a Friday and to my surprise there wasn't much of a crowd. The only reason I'm not rating this restaurant 5 stars is because our server seemed to be a bit behind (or in the weeds). I will note our server had two large parties, along with us, and another two top. Even with her being a bit behind, other people working in the restaurant did make sure we where taken care of. We sat on the covered patio, under the fans and it was pleasantly cool. To start we ordered a glass of wine and the infused pineapple martini. The martini is delicious with the vodka infused pineapple and sugar rim! For an appetizer we ordered the bacon wrapped scallops. The scallops where decadent, perfectly cooked, and flavor was sweet with a tiny kick (but not a lot and I don't do spicy). I had the tuna special and my boyfriend had the Mahi-mahi. Both of our entrees where excellent. The flavor of the grilled tuna was bold but not overboard. It was topped with a shaved cucumber, tomato, and onion slaw, finished with two shrimp. I had the backed potato instead of rice and seasonal veggies. Both where correctly cooked. My boyfriend had the Mahi-mahi and although it had a very different flavor from the tuna, it was superb as well (I only got a small bite before he devoured it). We did have to ask a bus boy for more water at one point. Thankfully our food was perfect so we didn't need anything from our server; because it was about 10 mins before she could get to us after we got our entrees, because of the large parties (although I could see her). I will add I did ask our server a few questions and she is very knowledgable of the menu and gave wonderful explanations. I think she was just sat with to many tables, in to short of a time frame. Overall the experience we had was very nice and relaxing. The patio view was excellent for people watching and we could see the boats docking in the cove. Their was a solo musician and he was quite good. The food quality was top of the line. I will dine here again.

Not that impressed with the Crab cake sandwich at all..but mushy more bread than crab cake..expected a really good lump clean cake..the bread was dry..didn't eat it..basically paid $14.00 for fries... The shrimp appetizer was good.should have had that as my dinner instead. My boyfriend had the shrimp and scallop linguine..he enjoyed it. Maybe if I would have went with something else I would have Had a better experience.

Outside bar at Hilton head is great looks out to the marina. Decent beer/drink choices and live music.

What a great location and view of the harbor. Meeting and talking surfing with scott was a surprise, but the great food and relaxed atmosphere was the real draw. We had appetizers, she crab soup, mahi mahi, fish tacos, and more. It was all so good, I wanted to come back the next day, so we did!

Scott's was just okay. It was good, it just left a little to be desired. The restaurant seemed tight and the tables were a bit close for comfort. The food seemed quite overpriced- I feel like I've had much better meals on the island for the same price of the meal I had here. I had the Parmesan crusted grouper with fries and veggies. The fish was okay- again, I have had better for less of a price. While the food wasn't bad, I just don't think it was as good as some of the other restaurants around!

The restaurant is located in a great area and offers a nice view of the marina. There is dining available outside and inside. The service was wonderful! Ask for David! The raw oysters, tuna salad and mahi mahi were delicious and enjoyed. I would not recommend the oyster poboy. The sandwich came on a hot dog bun, which was disappointing. I ended up just eating the oysters and not even bothering with the bun. I would recommend visiting if you are in the area.

Dinner with friends tonight- service quick and attentive. Ordered evening special blackened mahi with avocado/corn salsa Companions enjoyed the seafood gumbo more like a stew (no roux) delish Mahi perfectly cooked! Salsa nice accompaniment. I will definitely go back and recommend trying this restaurant.

If I could give zero stars, I would. The place was awful. We had a selection of entrees at our table and every one of them was bland and honestly tasted like the fish was store bought. The table next to us sent back their steak twice and finally the woman muttered under her breath that it wasn't worth it and just left the plate untouched. Terrible food, which just sucks because the ambience and location are great.

  • Gary L.

Nicely set by the marina, this restaurant has a great view and a cool breeze off the water when you sit outside. The service was great and the food was excellent. I had the fish tacos made with blackened tilapia and my wife had the salmon. Both dishes were delicious. We went on a Friday night and they had a guitar player on the patio which was a very nice touch. We stayed for over two hours and was never rush. Scott even came over to introduce himself and ask about our meal. All-in-all a great experience.

Would avoid if possible. Overpriced food heavily soaked in butter. Gourmet prices with Long John Silver presentation. Great location and outside seating. Many better options on island, unfortunately not many options in this venue

Don't waste your time. My fish was old and dry. There so many other restaurants around that are higher quality service & food. The waiter was ignorant about people around him - waiter needed to shut up and wait.

This place was OKAY not bad but not great- DO NOT waste your time going there. I can't get over the fact that this seafood restaurant had someone in the kitchen who did not know how to shuck an oyster.... I started with "deviled crabs." I had not had one before but love crab. It was crab meat mixed with bread and some peppers/onions then put back in the shell and fried. It was tasty but my problem here was it was all bread. I could not find one piece of crab.... Then I had the gulf oysters which were fresh and tasty. However they came shucked incorrectly. Basically they were served on the flat top shell of the oysters and still connected to the shell (compared to how they are supposed to be separated from the flat top shell and served in rounded bottom). This was a problem because there was no "juice" on them since they were not in the rounded bottom and without the proper knife it was hard to slice oyster away from the shell. I ended up making a mess of the oyster just trying to separate it. Then I had the special that was described as "Blackened Grouper with Roasted Tomato Salsa." The grouper was cooked well (not over done) but the "salsa" was basically a spicy marinara that overpowered the grouper to the point you could not even taste the fish. Nothing about the fish was blackened... there was NO color on it, NO cajun seasonings.... just like tomato like sauce.. very disappointing. I will say the fish was fresh but whoever is running the kitchen has no idea how to use these fresh ingredients in the best possible way. It just seemed like amateur hour. Very disappointing.

Casual dining. The reviews we're complimentary. Our experience for a party of 12 was mixed. Food was average, but priced too high. The tuna salad got sent back for being disgusting and fatty. Drinks sucked and overpriced. Stick to beer or soda. The best part of the meal was the lemon mascarpone cake. Definitely get the cake. I would only return for the cake, nothing else!!!

I was a fan of this place. Lots of tables have views of the water and the service was fast and friendly. I got a quesadilla for an appetizer and the salmon special for my entree and a piece of salted Caramel cheesecake for dessert. Highly recommended if you're in the area

We had dinner outside while listening to live acoustic music. The food and atmosphere was awesome. My fish tacos were great along with my alcoholic beverages. We really enjoyed our night here and after dinner we took a walk along the water. It was a great night out with the family.

Quite enjoyable. We arrived early (about 4:30). There were a few guests on the patio and no one inside. We opted for the air conditioning. For an appetizer, we chose bacon wrapped scallops. After one bite, we knew we chose the right thing. I usually order the same types of food wherever I go (steak or salmon). I decided to venture out with something new. I ordered the grouper, and my husband chose one of the specials; I believe it was the seafood scampi. The grouper was delicious and I could taste the freshness. The scampi included scallops, shrimp, and a fish (this time it was tilapia). A different fish would have made this dish a little better, but it was good overall. Service was right where it needed to be. Our waiter was right on point. We will be back.

We all had the Early Bird Specials and were very pleased. The She crab soup was excellent. All the entrees were top notch, especially the salmon and crab cakes. Service was above average, and dining on the patio overlooking the marine was perfect.

Dinner for eight. Drinks were very good. Some were not chilled enough but they took care of it. Dinner was excellent. Everyone loved it. I had fettucine with scallops. Yummy. Definitely will return. Close to disney vacation club.

Best scallops I've had in a while! Waiter was nice, I think his name is Steven. I deducted a couple points because they need new water glasses and my brother's chicken alfredo was drowned in sauce. Complimentary bread was on point too!

Enjoyed dinner at sunset last evening. We originally planned to dine at Kingfisher but were told we would not be seated outdoors eve though the place was 3/4 empty. Their loss! Everything was good at Scotty's from drinks to dessert. Started with the crab cake appetizer. Best I've had in a long time. Main course had fried shrimp accompanied by Cole slaw and fries. Yummy. Wife had the Maui Maui which was topped by some scallops. For dessert we enjoyed the chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. Great way to end the meal. After dinner we walked along dockside and viewed a beautiful sunset. Would recommend Scotty's for a nice casual waterside experience.

Tucked back in Shelter Cove, Scott's Fish Market overlooks the marina with a spacious deck and outdoor bar. The menu boasts of fresh catch everything, exactly what you'd want from a fish market/seafood joint. The execution, was a bit lacking however. The fried shrimp and scallops were fried in some uniform batter that had very little taste. With a little pressure from my finger, I easily got a greasy discharge, definitely not what you want with fresh seafood. I get that for the really fresh stuff you shouldn't fry it - but what the hey - it's what I was in the mood for :) The fried oysters, another local, fresh catch, were fried in some panko breadcrumb batter, usually a winner, and they were OK. The tartar and cocktail sauces were decent compliments, and overall the oysters and the rest of the food was just passable. Disappointing really, because the location and atmosphere could easily bump the scores for this place through the roof. Overlooking the boats/marina, whilst a surprisingly decent solo music act crushes some old school Buddy Holly covers is typically the recipe for a grade-A experience on the Island.

Had dinner here tonight on the recommendation of a local, and we were quite disappointed. First, I ordered a glass of wine, which was priced fairly, but ended up being incredibly tiny (MAYBE 3 or 4oz). Next, they brought some bread. They were decent rolls, but they did not give us real butter, only some sort or margarine, which was gross. Who doesn't serve real butter these days?? I got the caesar salad, which was actually pretty good. Then, the entree. Ohhhhh, the entree... As this was the last night of our vacation, I decided to splurge and get the filet mignon. I ordered it medium well. When it came out, it was medium rare at best. The server noticed immediately, apologized, and took it back to the kitchen. When she returned with my meal, the steak was still red in the middle (I'd call it medium), but certainly not medium well. I didn't mind much and just decided to keep it that way. However, the owner (Scott) stopped by shortly after to ask if everything was okay. We explained the situation, and after telling him that I didn't want it to be sent back again (at this point it was completely burned on the outside anyways), he said "Well? Do you just want me to take it away and not charge you for it??" in a very rude and exasperated tone. I said that wasn't necessary, and he stormed off without even apologizing. Even aside from the appalling treatment, the food was horrible! My steak was full of gristle and tasted nothing like the quality of a filet. I had to soak it in the provided steak sauce for it to have any flavor besides 'burned'. The baked potato (terrible side dish, btw), was not fully cooked. My mom ordered the crab cakes and said they didn't taste fully cooked either. Oh, and I think my water glass was empty for about 90% of the meal. After we finished the waitress offered a free dessert (she was very friendly, and probably the only redeeming quality of the place), which we took to go. Nice gesture, but still not an acceptable tradeoff for the way the owner acted. Overall, Scott's was the worse restaurant experience we had while visiting HHI, and it was probably the most expensive too!

Its open during non season opposite of many other restaurants in the area. Food and service is ok and again existing during non season. During season its quite comfortable as there is outside seating with live music. Food is good, not extraordinary but good. Prices are what you would expect in the area, not inexpensive but not deadly.

We were directed to Scott's the first night on the island and after driving almost 1300 miles to get to the island, I didn't want to drive anymore that night. It was walking distance from our place of residence for the week. My husband never had crab cakes before, he ordered them and loved them. I had a Mahi-Mahi dish with a teriyaki glaze, grilled pineapple and topped with amazing scallops. The fresh veggies were yummy. We sat outside, there was a musician playing. The only bad thing was it was very warm and muggy, to no fault of Scott's. Server was attentive, menu decent not completely overwhelming with choices. Right on the marina, if the weather had been just a bit cooler it would have been perfect. It takes a lot for me to give 5 stars, so this is as close as it gets. (Ruth's Chris gets 5 stars, but you pay for it). So if you are in the area, give them a try.

  • Jim D.

Outstanding. Prices were decent. Food was delicious. Probably the best mahi I ever had. Dessert was also great. Loved this place. Only negative was the cocktail. Pineapple martini left a little to be desired. Wine prices and choices are good though. Highly recommend!

I had a horrible experience with Scott's.....let me explain. My wife and I went to Scott's Fish Market the other night to check it out. We have a large family and were looking for a place to take everyone on the weekend, so we figured we would try their dessert and then decide if we wanted to bring the whole family (10 other adults). We were greeted by a very nice hostess who started to show us the menu and when the manager overheard we were just looking for dessert he butted into the conversation. His wording was something like "we don't have room for you if you just want dessert, you can try to sit out by the bartender, and IF he has time he might be able to get your dessert"....How rude, we thought!!!! Needless to say we didn't stay and aren't taking the rest of the family. We come to Hilton Head every year for vacation and will NEVER try them again.

Ordered a moderately priced seafood dish and received a filet instead. I never send things back. So I ate it even though it's clearly not wanted I wanted. The waiter charged me for the filet, took nothing off the bill, and didn't offer any kind of comp. Food was ok.

I was actually hesitant to try this restaurant because it was a Tuesday night and this was the only restaurant in the harbor that did not have a wait. To my surprise our food was delicious! (I had fish tacos and key lime pie.) I was a little disappointed because they were out of the peanut butter pie... I saw a piece and it looked amazing. We also were able to sit outside and enjoy the view of the fireworks and listen to the live music. Great overall experience!

Best part about our dinner was the atmosphere. Outdoor deck with great live acoustic playing. Food was only average but service was good.

Great view and fun live music on the patio. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and there was a great selection of cocktails.

Worth going for the atmosphere. The food is good, not the best thing in the world, but the atmosphere (great outdoor seating, by the harbor, usually music) is fabulous.

We had a wonderful meal here. They took good care of us with our 20 month old daughter. We sat on the patio with a great view of the boats and listened to the live music playing Jimmy Buffet tunes and others.

Great location, but food is not consistent. My meal, Charbroiled Mahi-Mahi was excellent. My wife's Seafood W/pasta in a cream sauce was the worst meal I have ever seen. It was hard to believe these two meals came from the same kitchen. My meal looked and tasted amazing. My wife's appeared to be thrown onto the dish and did not look appetizing at all. The meal was extremely bland and the pasta was old. When I spoke with the waiter at the end, the response was that she ate the seafood. Yes, she did because there were only 6 pieces in the whole $24 dish. They did give a small break on the dish, but the coldness of the response did not sit well.

  • Brendan C.

Great location. Great food. Very good service. Live music was low key and not loud. Very casual atmosphere like most of the dining spots on HHI. I had one of the specials -- a crab cake entree -- and it was delicious.

  • Joette S.

The staff was friendly but the food for the most part was tasteless. We ordered the fish platter (broiled) with shrimp, sole and scallops. The sole was sitting in a liquid that tasted like bath water - no exaggeration - it was dreadful. My son's salmon was watery and gooey. The only good dish was my husbands major Mahi Mahi special. That was delicious - but one out of three aren't good odds. I'd suggest buying local fish and cooking it yourself. We thought we'd treat ourselves to a night out - not such a good idea - at least not in Scott's.

  • Carissa S.

Fun outside seating with live music from a great musician. Small bar outside overlooking the harbor. Food- nothing to rave about. The She-Crab soup was loaded with crab and tasty but lacked the sweet flavor from the brandy that I desire in she- crab. My husband got the blackened fish with a red sauce and it was SPICY. He liked but I consider myself to like spicy and wouldn't have been able to eat that dish. The menu has nothing special. The deck is fun, overlooks the beautiful harbor but if you are going for a good meal... I would try somewhere else.

If you have any type if dietary needs this is not the place to go. I informed the server of my allergies and his response was "well not sure why you came here the only thing you can on eat the menu is chicken" which was not true. He seemed bothered to check the ingredients in what I wanted to eat and to top if off I was served old fish that tasted bad and had to be sent back. I have never been to a restaurant that was not accommodating to food allergies. I will never go back.

From the moment we walked in we felt like we were with old friends. We were warmly greeted by Scott and shown to our table. He made some recommendations to begin. He knew exactly what we were looking for. The crab cake was great! The drinks were fabulous and the grouper is not to be missed. The highlight was the OMG cake which is out of this world. Definitely a place worth the trip!

Should be a zero. Horrible service. Server had an attitude and screwed things up so royally that we never ordered food. We have been here several times but will not return. To his credit, the manager tried to make things tight but it was too late. The details are, we asked to have the she crab soup blended if possible because my wife's jaw is wired shut. The server said "we're too busy, if I ask the chef to do that he will throw me out of the kitchen" ... Having both been in the restaurant industry in the past, we knew that they may it be able to blend the soup, but the servers response and attitude were inexcusable. Hoping that things would improve, we ordered drinks. My wife ordered a frozen margarita. The server returned with a margarita on the rocks. When reminded that we ordered the drink frozen, he acted as though he didn't know what we were talking about. He was sullen and nasty when we asked for a straw for my wife's water. We he brought the margarita back, it still had chunks of ice in it and he continued with his negative attitude. We had enough and decided to leave immediately, but stayed to speak to the manager. He tried to rectify the situation, but it was too much already.

The waitstaff was very good and the location is great; and that's what you're paying for, the location. This is is a very high priced Restaurant and the food does not measure up. I had herb crusted grouper. It was a nice sized piece of fish and cooked to perfection. Now the down side. How can something "herb crusted" have zero flavor and no crust. The side vegetables had NO FLAVOR at all and the side rice was stuck together with very little flavor. The fried shrimp was indeed lightly fried with no grease AND, you guessed it, no flavor. If you are going to charge top dollar you need to be creative and bring it with every dish and everything you serve. There is much better on the island.

1st time to Shelter Cove and we were not sure were to eat and I'm glad we picked this place. I had the filet mignon and it was so soft and tender. Everybody else thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The host was great and a waiter was great. He was from Maryland in Hilton Head for the summer. Give it a try.

Went here for lunch. It's a great location with seating that overlooks the marina. We came to get fresh seafood and good drinks. Scott's met our expectation and then some. I had the fried shrimp basket. It was filled with fresh, large shrimp fried in a cornmeal batter (less greasy). Definitely recommend a visit!

Good food, but a little pricey for what you get. I gave it 4 stars because of the waitstaff. They were very friendly and went out of their way for our 20 month old daughter.

One of our favorites on the Island. Scott, Tony and staff are always friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Dinner last night was steak for my husband (it really is the best steak on the island) and I had the grouper special. Both were outstanding. Atmosphere varies, some nights quiet others a little more noise, just depends on the crowd. We come to Hilton Head several times a year and make it a point to stop in every time we visit.
