The family that owns this restaurant are very friendly. I ordered the jerk chicken (of course) and so did 3 other people. Yet, unfortunately after we ordered... Our waiter came back to inform us that they were all out of jerk chicken and jerk wings. It was fine - I figured that I would get the Devil Crab from Daufuskie Island which came with a side of rice and green beans. The devil crab was on point. It was buttery and flavorful. The green beans were we'll seasoned too. The rice had a peppery kick to it. Overall we had a nice time..just make sure that they have what you want before you get too excited!

Oh my! This was good food!! That jerk chicken, the oxtails! My son is a picky eater but he wanted more and more of that jerk chicken! My husband was looking for the conch fritters but they sell fast. We are definitely coming back to eat some.

While vacationing in Hilton Head my wife and I always go to Bluffton for at least one day. The food and art shopping there are very good. Today we decided to try Caribbean at Red Stripes. What caught my eye on the menu was the whole red snapper. I love whole fish and I was thinking since we are on the coast the fish should be good and fresh. We went for lunch and arrived at noon and no one was in the restaurant. A little concerning but it's lunch and on the bright side, the chef will have plenty of time to concentrate on our dishes. I ordered the whole snapper of course and my wife ordered ox tails. The snapper can be done three ways, I chose a technique called escovitch which is a method of deep frying the fish and then adding a vinegar, onion and carrot sauce on top. This fish was unbelievable! The fish was super hot and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It took 30 minutes to eat the fish and I used my fingers (had to) it was SO good. The crunch of the fried crunchy fish with the tender white meet was so flavorful with the onions and carrot vinegar mixture. I ordered a side of plantains to add a little sweet to offset the vinegar. I just enjoyed this dish immensely. My wife's ox tails with cabbage and red beans and rice was equally as good. The ox tails did not have a gravy which is what you see in many restaurants. These ox tails were tender as ever and needed no gravy. In fact the a gravy would have spoiled the meat flavor. These ox tails were just pure island. Really good. The red beans and rice were legit as well. You could tell that only someone from the islands could cook like this. I met the chef and he is from Jamaica and the recipes are from his grandmother. I wish I lived closer to come back again but I will certainly be back on our next trip. I gave five stars because the food was just that good in the category of caribbean. The best I have ever had.

Must Visit -- One of the best restaurants in the entire area! Delicious authentic Caribbean food with fresh ingredients and attentive service. We had the incredible and unique vinegar-based Escovitch Fish, the best Plantains ever, and tasty Coconut Rice with Peas. We went twice during our stay at Hilton Head island, and wish we more time to try some of the other choices on the menu!

We won't be back. We can't figure out all the great reviews. No one was around to greet us; only one other customer was in the place who said they were around. We found a table & menus. No friendly greetings like in the reviews. They didn't have the Jamacian beer on the menu. We ordered jerk & drunken chicken. It seemed like the same chicken with slightly different sauces. The chicken was dry, sauces were okay; nothing to eat twice. Plantains were also dry. To top it off one of the kids came in, turned up the TV volume & sat at one of the tables watching cartoons on the big screen TV. Definitely not the food or experience we were looking for!

Terrific service and smells great right as you walk in the door. Walkable from Old Town Bluffton, we were greeted with smiles. Our group of four was treated well by our server (attending to cold drinks). I had the fried plantains, rice with peas (tasted mildly of coconut), and conch fritters (the best I've had in the U.S.). My colleagues' dishes of curry chicken, jerk chicken breast, and jerk chicken wings all looked yummy. There is a small bar, a couch area, ample seating, and a pool table. The patio area looked lovely and shaded too. I'll definitely return.

The only way you'll find this place is by knowing it's next to Squat & Gobble since the signage is next to nothing. The food is very good (especially the jerk chicken) and prices are very reasonable. The owner is friendly and you'll get great service.

Quaint and very clean restaurant. Excellent service. Red Stripe Light beer is very smooth. I had the snapper special with collard greens and fried plantains. It was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. Amazing seasonings with many layers of flavor. My husband ordered the curry goat with rice and macaroni cheese. His was really good too. He just wished there was more meat on his plate. I would highly recommend this restaurant. You won't be disappointed!

This plot of land in the quaint and quite area of Bluffton must be possessed by evil business spirits. Since I have been coming to the area, there has been a multitude of businesses on this site, which must have odd zoning laws. The lounge is located on a residential street and has all the aesthetic makings of a 1970's southern Bluffton home on the outside. I went in for a few drinks a few weeks ago, I had to go with Red Stripe beer and had a brief conversation with the owner who touched on the businesses intentions for food and nightlife. Upon my return yesterday, the location looked closed but there was no signage to support that which tells me they will be delayed in their opening another few weeks. Because I support local establishments and always Break the Chain of chain restaurants, I will return in another week to update my review. Hopefully by then Red Stripe is open and serving the local community as opposed to drowning in Red Ink.

Went with a friends. Seated right away, service was fast and waiter was friendly. Very laid back setting and the food was great. Had the Trini lobster and shrimp which was very tasty and spicy! For dessert had the sweet potato bread pudding which was oh so delicious. Definitely would recommend this restaurant to people that like Caribbean food. Wish it was in a better location though for better sighting.

Had Curry Goat for the first time ever and it was amazing. Also had nachos which were done with jerk chicken and plantains. It may seem like an unlikely combination but it was very tasty. I really hope that this place sticks around.

We really enjoyed this restaurant! The owners were very sweet and took time to explain the menu and dishes and even offered us a dish not listed on the menu. The food was great! Hoping they will thrive despite the hidden building.
