Enjoyed my food, although my family didn't. Lol The young lady who fixed my plate did a good job to not pick out the fatty spots of meat or dry spots on the mashpotatoes. She was sweet. The older lady gave my mom the end piece of meatloaf which was dried out.

A person recommended this place and told me how great the pies are so I decided to try the place out. I had the meatloaf, broccoli with cauliflower, sweet potatoes, lima beans with a slice of white bread. Also, a slice of coconut pie. Staff was friendly and they are very reasonably priced. I didn't really care for the meatloaf though the sides were good. Pie was good too! Would try again but something new.

The food was fresh, visually appealing, and well-prepared. The stewed tomatoes had a lot of sugar in them which I was not accustomed to, but they were still pretty good. I liked the fact that you could just select the items that you wanted from the cafeteria line, which is great if you are trying to practice portion control. FYI: They didn't have any vegetarian protein options (entrees or sides) and their pies use lard for the crust. The waitress never did get to my table, but I understood because she looked really busy, was working really hard, and it appeared they were short staffed. I was able to approach the cashier and she kindly assisted me. My only negative is that the top 8 trays were dirty and I had to dig through the stack for a clean one. The other tableware looked clean. It is a really old building but also very unique for the area. I won't personally go back (because of the lack of vegetarian options) but I think it is worth a visit if you are in the area.

Excellent. I travel to South Carolina every two years for a family reunion. I am always looking for restaurants with home cooked type meals. I had read about Miller's Bread Basket a couple of years ago, but was unable to get there due to tight scheduling. This year was different. We made it a point to go there while driving from Atlanta to South Carolina. We were greeted by George, the owner, he is a bubbly little guy, full of energy and stories. The food is cafeteria style. I had the Fried Chicken, Meat Loaf, Potatoes, carrots and black eyed peas. Awesome..The put their own homemade stewed tomatoes on top of the meatloaf. I topped it off with a slice of Coconut Cream Pie. We will definitely be back again in two years. The service was friendly..

While the dinner portion was ok, the Blueberry Bran muffin, pecan pie, and turnip greens were magnificent. The service was great and Uncle Ray was super nice, we even got to meet the Sheriff. It was great to stop in for a little bit and visit. While I wouldn't travel from Charleston, just to go here, I would definitely stop by while passing through.

Dan and Dave got it right. This place is worth driving to as a destination. Some of the best meatloaf I've ever eaten, incredible greens, fried chicken, and insanely good homemade breads. As they said, you just go through the line, tell them what you want, then pay. I challenge you to even try to pick a meal over $10 and I guarantee you will be stuffed! I was in around Christmas and still remember the number of people picking up sweet bread orders to go. I also remember the German Amish or Mennonite influence, the quaint storefront, and the Wide mix of affluent And working stiff eating lunch together. It has a SC heritage sign beside it and an antique store attached that sells crafts, breads, jams, and junk. Finally...did i say that the food was fantastic? A fusion of soul food and Amish influence. The shoe fly pie is amazing.

It's a small restaurant in downtown Blackville, SC. They are owned and run by the Minonites. All of the food is homemade and delicious. They also sell homemade breads and jellies. The desserts are to die for. It's a very nice and homey atmosphere. Everyone is really friendly and the service is great. I would recommend this place to anyone that happens to be passing through.

I'm from Miami where I have sampled many foods from many types of life. My visit to Miller's was like taking a step back in time. The people kind and friendly, The food hot and so good, The shoefly pie melts in your mouth. They still have homemade sweet tea. All this for under $7.00 dollars. Make sure you take some home made bread, you won't believe how good it is until you taste it yourself.

So good it's ridiculous. Fried chicken and shoofly pie were amazing! Definitely worth the trip and thankfully, not too close or I'd be stuffing myself daily.

This is a 4 star concerning that this a restaurant in a rather small town. The staff is very friendly and always asking if we needed anything else. The food was good southern food. Excellent bread selection. Please don't come here expecting modern decor, be open minded after all this town is not NYC.

The essence of local flavor, this place seems lost in time and place. The Amish eatery features a large dining area and a fixed menu for lunch and dinner - served cafeteria-style. Just tell the ladies what you want and they will fill up your plate. For lunch I got a full plate of all the comfort foods (meat loaf, fried chicken, broccoli casserole, green beans, and a muffin) for $7.25. Of course, the Amish are famous for their pastries, and our group could not resist. They have a "pie lady" that makes all their pies and cobblers. I had peach cobbler to die for, and other selections included German chocolate pie, shoo-fly pie, pecan pie, chocolate fudge pie, apple pie and others. Although the place seems out of place with the rest of impoverished rural areas of South Carolina, it has become a landmark for local tourism, as it features it's own interpretive display provided by the State tourism people. Truly a hidden gem you would never expect to find in such a place.

Just does not get any better than Miller's Bread Basket. You taste the homemade difference every time, and wonder why you'd ever eat anywhere else, to where I wish they were open today (Sundays). My "usual" is the mouth watering meatloaf, carrots, cabbage, beets, and a slice of cinnamon raisin bread. Shoo fly pie or cheesecake, if I want to "over indulge," although the shoo fly pie is so good, I simply consider it a mandatory side item. Added bonus: you can buy the daily freshly baked bread in the gift shop in the same building.

I'm not lying. These guys know how to cook. Good home cooked meals and wonderful deserts. People drive from miles around to come to Miller's and it's easy to see why. Good food and good service.
