This was my second visit to the Old Bull Tavern. This gastropub has a eclectic atmosphere of old school tavern meets French Brasserie with a little Dr. Who mixed in. I arrived before six and easily found a seat the bar. However, the place quickly filled and had a vibrant pub feel. I highly recommend reservations for parties of two or more after 6 pm. The bartenders are friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Needless to say, the drinks are terrific and consistent. I prefer the New Fashion, but ventured out of my comfort zone with LBG (Lemon. Basil, Canton Ginger and Vodka). I've got to admit I will be conflicted on my next visit. The food was amazing from start to finish. I started with pork belly steamed buns. The pork belly was crisp with a nice chewiness. I think the highlight of the night was the chicken liver pâté with crostini. The pâté was smooth, creamy, delicate and perfectly accompanied with cornichons and what appeared to be a shallot marmalade. For the entree I ordered the Parmesan-crusted pork cutlet with a fennel. Delicious and my "go to" every time I return.

My family stopped here for drinks before we ate elsewhere, so I can't say much about the food though everyone we have talked to down here has highly recommended this place. It has a rustic "tavern" feeling to it with three mixologists all dressed in suspenders and bow ties, all of whom were extremely familiar with craft beer, local wine, and craft cocktails. Christopher, who seemed to be the lead bartender couldn't have been more gracious. We ordered the "Snoop Juice" which was delicious. Fresh Grapefruit, Gin, Rhubarb Bitters, and Cocchi. We will definitely be back for dinner, thanks Christopher!

I have never been to a city or a bar where you needed reservations at a bar??? My girlfriend and I came to experience the taste of this place and I can say that we did not get past the door, much less a table. We were told that the hostess would "check to see" if something was open. After a long pause in conversation with Stacy, she walked around the pub and informed us that there was nothing "available"- followed up with NO offer of putting us on a waiting list or EVEN giving us a time frame of when we could be seated. There was an obvious "to cool for school attitude" and a certain air this place gave off. Not for me and I would not advise it for you. But if you go, call ahead because apparently to get a beer and a burger you need to know the right people and make a phone call.

Whatever you are doing at this moment, STOP, and go to this place!! Matthew and the bar staff are amazing. The atmosphere is incredible and the people could not be more friendly! Now, for the important part, THE MARTINI. You will notice that it is all capitalized, that is not a mistake... this was, hands-down, the best martini I have ever had. (ask for Matthew) Do not forget to ask for the blue cheese stuffed olives. Seriously folks, if you visit Beaufort and do not visit this bar, you have sold yourself short. Ask for Matthew.....

The food was pretty incredible (I had the cheese-stuffed, prosciutto-wrapped figs and some pasta topped with a soft boiled egg), but that was the only thing good about this place. It was insanely loud, and the service took a very long time (we went on an ordinary Wednesday night). The noise doesn't bother me, but the lack of attention when all of our glasses were empty does. Worth mentioning, even though it didn't happen to my group, the people at the table next to us had an experience with a rodent (it brushed by a woman's leg as she was seated, and the staff came out to try to capture it), and then about 20 minutes later, we saw a bug of some sort crawling up the wall (the bartender did come out and kill the bug - it was large). Unfortunately, both of these issues happened AFTER we had already eaten. There didn't appear to be any compensation given to the women at the table next to us (or anyone who witnessed it), despite the fact that she seemed very displeased (don't blame her). It was as if the staff just wanted to pretend it didn't happen at all. I get that sometimes these things happen, and that it doesn't necessarily mean that there's an unsanitary infestation, but I do feel that customer service dictates compensation after a rodent touches your leg in a restaurant. While the food was very good, I just don't think I could bring myself to eat there again after seeing TWO incidents with rodents and bugs on my first visit.

Old Bull Tavern is what I call a perfect gastropub. Not too fancy so you feel like you can't be casual yet food that is superb and classic cocktails done right. On our recent trip to Beaufort we went on two nights. The first night my wife and I sat at the bar which is just a fabulous old long bar. Everyone was just having a wonderful time. Locals relaxing and the vacationers just glad to fit in. I enjoyed the fact that the locals do not look at you strange. I find this happens often in towns that have a lot of seasonal visitors. We ordered cocktails and several tapas thru out the night. We just dined and drank and had a great time. 2.5 hours later we had only spent $85 with tip. The prices are so reasonable I just had to ask the owner why. He said "I want the place to be fun and people to come back. I know my cost and I'm making money." That's just so cool. I get so tired of a $14 old fashioned. His approach works because the place stays packed all night, not just dinner service. The second evening we sat at a table in the second dining room that you access thru the phone both! It was a little quieter here but the food just as good. The lamb shank for $18 was just fall off the bone good. My wife ordered the duck breast with corn polenta that we just loved. If I have to say something critical the duck fat could have been rendered a little more. All the dishes we saw coming out looked appetizing and they have recently added a pizza oven. You can watch them make pizza in the third dining room. All of these room were different stores but have been connected because the place is so popular. Old Bull is in my top three of pubs I have every been in. Seriously. The experience and the food is worth every visit. It is a must for anyone in Beaufort.

Loved it. Had an old school British phone booth to transition from main dining area to outside courtyard. Felt like Dr Who walking around in there. Food was phenom. Check out my photos as usual for some short reviews. Ambiance chill and foodie-like menu. Green Eggs and Ham spin is always nice option. Menu sets up perfect for sharing. There are small bites, apps, pizzas (super thin and brick oven baked), small plates, and entrees. One small complaint, with a decent wine selection there are NO decanters. Would have loved my Cabernet to open up while we sipped on the Pinot. Other than that no complaints. Thanks again to Brynn, hope that's the correct spelling, for giving us excellent service. Left there and hit, Q by the Bay. Live music in the back bar. Live band on Thursdays are great!! Also, played Secession GC all week. Awesome time in Beaufort

Very nice atmosphere, and friendly service! the food was very tasty, I really enjoyed the housemade burrata and the swordfish. Everything we ate was delicious, fresh, and satisfying. Yet, the portion sizes are soooo small. Especially the caprese salad... for $7.5 it was tiny. I would definitely return for some small bites and drinks (didn't have any but they looked great!). I would probably not do a full dinner here as I would have to order a lot of dishes, and it would be pricey.

I can't wait to come back to Beaufort just for this restaurant. This place is the jam! The craft cocktails at this place are delicious. The bartenders really know their stuff here. Additionally, they provide excellent service and really help guide you through the menu if you can't decide what you would like to eat. We had one of their pizzas (I'm writing this review a month later so I can't remember which one) but I think we literally licked the grease off of the plate. This pizza was incredible. We toyed around with the idea of ordering another to take home for a late night snack, it was that good. We also had one of their new dishes, it was a spicy shrimp dish served with crostinis. It was also spot on. Just so delish. The atmosphere in here is really fun, and I hope they stick around for awhile! Keep up the great work!

I had deviled eggs with wasabi and ham...to start, a pizza with local ingredients and a cold local beer...this place is great. Old school bar, with new school foods!

The food here is truly awesome! We tried one item of every designation and each were as good as the last, Service was friendly and prompt without being annoying. Definitely a must do when in Beaufort. Call for reservations as they rarely seat people at the door,

I can't remember when I've been more put-off from a restaurant experience. My companion and I arrived, to what I initially thought was a very friendly hostess, and were told that they had no tables available for another two hours. We asked if we could wait at the bar, but were told that we could sit at a counter in the back room if we wanted to eat. We were tired and starving, so we decided to stay. Our view was the two guys making the pizzas and the pizza ovens, which wasn't entirely uninteresting. Our server, Gabriel, was very nice, and knowledgeable about the food---although I see more Johnny Depp than Dave Navarro... What was so off-putting was seeing the six available seats directly across from us in the dining room---a table for two, and a table for four---which stayed empty for almost an hour before they were filled. When the hostess seated a young couple at the table for two, she came by, asked how we were doing, and then closed the door to the dining room right next to us. Why? I was appalled that we were not offered one of those tables, since if they were reserved, they saved them for an unusually long time.... That said, my hamburger and frites were very good. Gabriel forgot to bring my mayo, but hey, mistakes happen. My companion said that her duck breast was amazing. It was plated beautifully. I think the food here must be very good, but just be cautioned---you might not get a seat---even if they are available.

A winning combination!!! Family type service with exquisite food!! Hand shakes and hugs kind of place. My wife and I were on our way across the country from San Diego, CA to Boston, MA. and decided to stop and see a long time friend of mine from childhood who lives in the area. He said that we had to go to this amazing establishment, and boy am I glad he did! From the moment we walked in the door we felt like family coming into a warm, high energy, and fun environment. Oscar (who I believe is either the manager or owner) greeted my friend and his lovely lady with an ear to ear smile and a huge hugs! He then immediately proceed to greet us with almost equal joy to have my wife and I there! The Drinks here are outstanding! The pizza was masterfully prepared by chefs that truly care about what comes out of their amazing, I believe, wood burning pizza oven! Premium quality toppings that are evenly distributed across a perfectly cooked pizza pie. And the burgers are superb! I actually took the time to go over to the chefs and have a friendly conversation about our love of great food. They were super friendly and gracefully receptive of compliments paid. Also, servers that weren't even serving us specifically were hanging out and having fun with us as well! I have worked in the food and beverage industry for almost 7 years now and would hope I have a solid understanding of what makes a great restaurant... This place has it down! I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone! To all those who work at Old Bull Tavern, Thanks for making our one night such a special one and thanks for treating us like family! To all those who are thinking of going here, DON'T HESITATE! AND ENJOY!

After researching reasonably priced restaurants around the Beaufort area, we chose to try Old Bull tavern. We walked (party of 4) into the restaurant and were immediately taken in by the ambiance of the place. It had a cozy yet sophisticated feel that was perfect for dining. There was no one in the restaurant (it had just opened at 5, we got there at 5:10). The hostess asked us if we had a reservation. We did not. She told us she had a 7:00 reservation coming in and asked if we would be planning on "camping out". I found this extremely rude. We were paying customers and no one was even seated yet. It left a bad taste in our mouths. The rest of the dinner was wonderful and so was our waiter. If I had to change something it would be to talk to the hostess about pushing customers away.

My Absolute FAVORITE spot for dinner in Beaufort!!! This place has it all, a SIMPLE, UNIQUE, menu that I haven't been disappointed with yet. My girlfriend raves on and on about their salmon entree and I adore both the "lamb shank" and "beef shoulder" dishes... the recent pizza oven, and seating room additions, along with outdoor patio made this awesome place even more incredible. To top it all off, most entrees are around the $18 range... making this place an even better value. Eclectic bar menu, specialty drinks and craft brews, along with the low lit dining area, bow-tie and suspender wearing tenders, make this spot THE BEST night spot in beautiful downtown Beaufort. I would recommend reservations on the weekend, considering they fill up and who wants to wait? TRY: Pork Belly Sliders, Pizzas, Salmon, Lamb Shank DRINK: The Purgatory

Had dinner here after the Beaufort Boat Parade. We got lucky and got a table because someone had just cancelled a reservation. Lucky us. We shared the Winemakers Salad and the Bacon and Gruyere pizza. We had a Sazerac (or two). Service was excellent and the food was delicious. This is a well run restaurant and management was visible and checking in on customers to make sure everything is on point. If you are ever in Beaufort, make sure you visit the Old Bull Tavern.

My local happy place!!! With a head bartender who always looks dashing in his bow tie and a wine on tap called Troublemaker, this is a place that will make you feel right at home the first time you walk through the door. Old Bull has unique and delicious food choices and the perfect drink for everyone. This is my favorite place for drinks with friends or a special date night...

Obsessed!! The staff really looks out for the customers! I'm from savannah and we can drink openly in the streets so we were unfamiliar with the Beaufort bar laws, however the staff politely warned us of fines. I've been here before in the past and feel so welcomed when I go. They have wine on tap, with a large variety. It's the coolest bar in Beaufort if your looking for a nice place to enjoy good people. It's not a dive bar, yet it's unpretentious. Perfect place to enjoy time spent downtown. Will go back and highly recommend if your looking for a nice place to drink at night.

I can't say enough. I loved it here. We were here on the 4th of July while on our honeymoon. We were completely lost and just decided to stay at the Beaufort Inn. It was fun. I just wanted good food in a cool spot. No chain crap We literally walked into this place while wandering. Best thing I ever did. The bartenders were great. The cocktails were fun. I loved the spicy margarita. I could have eaten 100 blue cheese stuffed figs. The pasta and shrimp was awesome and the perfect size and my husband still says that's the best cheeseburger he ever had. This place is something we will always remember about our honeymoon. Hope to be back someday. THANKS

I wish I could have put this place in a box and taken it home to Cincinnati! On a recent visit to Beaufort, my husband and I got a suggestion from our innkeeper to stop by the Old Bull Tavern, even if it was just for a drink. When we walked in, we were surprised to see this trendy bar jam packed with people for happy hour... and the crowd only continued to build from there (and it was a only Wednesday)! The bartender Matthew, was friendly, knowledgeable, and on his A game the whole time we were there. The drinks were creative and tasty. Even the appetizer before we headed dinner at another local establishment, tempted us to stay for the rest of the night. All in all, this place was a hit for my husband and I. The food was tasty and creative. The atmosphere was welcoming, casual, and an all around good time. Don't miss the Old Bull if your in the area!

Old Bull Tavern opened in August 2012. Off the beaten Bay Street path, albeit just a few feet, you'll find "a gastropub-styled menu with an agressive drink selection, and a local twist." What's a gastropub you ask? A small restaurant that serves alcohol, as well as a quality variety of beers and wines. Gastropubs offer 'ambitious' menu items and commit to a comfortable atmosphere, and all aspire to earn a cherished standing in communities as places where one can go and know everyone's name. Great wine selection. Frequent changes and additions to the menu with fresh ingredients. Already very popular. A new gem in the Beaufort dining scene. Don't miss it.

What a great place! We sat at the bar and enjoyed the bartender's expertise and enthusiasm. Both the Rosemary Cashews and the Truffled Brie with Apples were very good. The attention to detail is quite remarkable. The dinner menu looked great too! Beaufort is lucky to have this fine establishment. We will most assuredly return!

I've been here three times, and loved each visit. I'm a huge fan of the Purgatory, a margarita-like cocktail and the local grass-fed beef burger. Great vibe, good music. I enjoy eating at the bar. All of their cocktails are clever. Try the goat cheese and olive tapanade.

I think this place has figured out the perfect recipe to make the infrequent diner rant and rave about this overrated establishment. Yes, the food is good. Yes it has a nice atmosphere. Yes, the wait staff knows the menu like the back of their hand. Yes, the hostess was a bitch. She acted as though she were a bouncer for a 5 star celebrity laden club. I was nonplussed at the least. We arrived at 5 pm and the whole place was empty, she motioned to the high table by the door and said, "Welllll, I guess if you don't have reservations (incredulously, might I add ... and let me remind you it was 5 pm) then you can sit at the community table." Then she crammed us all together on the corner and told my husband three times that 'her close friends had reserved the table and they would need all available space." Excuse. Me. The shrimp appetizer was tasty but was drowning in butter. I had two shrimp and I woke up the next morning with garlic radiating from every pore. Their wine selection is limited for a wine-type bar, and the on-tap wine selections that the server raved about were simply adequate. I had the winemakers salad which I did enjoy, especially the orange-y vinaigrette. I will say that my husband's Gruyere Bacon Pizza was worth the snarky hostess remarks. I think if this restaurant wishes to remain highly rated, they could shake it up a bit, starting with shaking that chip off their shoulder.

This is my absolute FAVORITE restaurant in Beaufort! The food is amazing and I love the atmosphere! The bartenders are always attentive and fun. You must try the LBG. It is by far my favorite drink! Make sure that you make reservations at least a couple of days in advance. The place gets packed out and you usually cannot get a table without a reservation.

Favorite bar in Beaufort. I grew tired of the waterfront bars and the bar scene immediately, but Old Bull has some wonderful mixologists and great drinks. The owner is a great guy and I love the style of the bar itself. I enjoy their seasonal menu and changing drink ideas. They are also one of the only places in town with a menu past 10. They serve pizzas from 10pm to midnight that are not your average slice of pie. Love their small plates, love their drinks, love the ambience- have yet to try their large entrees. This is definitely going to be a place I frequent.

  • Aerin S.

A Stiff One The drinks at this place will blow your mind! Enjoy a stiff drink for ONLY $7.50 a piece! All I have to say is if you get on this bull you better ride it! The ambience is amazing with tables to share some small plates or tiny stools to enjoy your drinks. Trust me, you'll be having drunk convo or "stranger kissing" before you know it! (I know firsthand, whew what a night) The bartenders are all hot, like they get off work and transform into Chippendales! And the owner is just nonchalantly walking around with a sweet hat, so swag! Head on over to Panini's Grill and Waterfront Sports Bar for a twerk fest after! You're welcome.

Just had a wonderful birthday dinner with my husband and had a great experience. The staff was very accommodating. We did not have a reservation as it was a Tuesday at 7:45 and didn't think we needed one. It was busy but they sat us quickly. The staff was fantastic. I had for the first time a new drink for me. It was called a new fashioned. It had a orange flavor and was perfect! For dinner I had the tenderloin which was tender and had a lot of flavor. My husband had a pork dish which he said was delicious. The reason I did not give it 5 stars was it was to loud for me. It was a tavern but it was hard to hear what was being said in the conversation. We definitely will come back as I want to try the wood fired pizza as it looked amazing going by the table.

Great place! Ambiance, fascinating cocktails WAYYY beyond the normal boring ones and the pizza is like nothing else!

  • David S.

What an awesome dinner. Our server was Alex and he was the best. Great service, A++++++. Had no problem answering our questions and explaining the different dishes. Offered great suggestions. The fresh caught shrimp in the sherry was phenomenal. The tavern cheese and toast was amazing. The gnocchi was light and airy with a terrific sauce with more of the fresh caught shrimp. The black Angus tenderloin with the gorgonzola butter was fantastic. The atmosphere was very casual, the staff very attentive, the food was on point and the prices were more than reasonable. Will definitely visit again.

This place is, by far, my favorite place to eat in Beaufort. My last review said it all, but it merits another. The food-excellent. The atmosphere is laid back. I could easily go here every day of the week and not get bored. Do yourself a favor when you're in Beaufort and give the Old Bull Tavern a try. You'll not regret it.

I wish we could move the Beaufort just so we could eat here more often! This is the first 5 star I have given. We found this place on Yelp. So we didn't know what to expect. Tavern implied casual. But it was more dressy than we were dressed for, and we didn't have reservations but they accepted us in our casual shorts and t-shirts just like we belonged. Very friendly people. The place is pretty dark, small and tight, the table was almost too small. But the food was Heavenly! And then theres the wait staff, not just nice but almost all are men and they are all pretty, I mean like model pretty! Our waiter, Gabriel, made me think of Dave Navarro. The Winemaker salad is delish. The perfect start, and big enough for us to share. I had Angus steak with mash potatoes and carrots. Melt in your mouth steak. The carrots were perfectly cooked. My husband had chicken and sausage. He said it was the best thing he has ever eaten. It came with this onion grape and balsamic side dish, this stuff was heaven. We did't know what it was, LOL. Alittle pricey but worth every penny! One of the review says "stop what your are doing and go here" I agree!

This place is absolutely wonderful! We were undecided as to where we wanted to eat dinner and had not made a reservation for a Friday night. While we were looking at the menu posted outside, a lady passed by telling us this was the best place to eat in Beaufort, but that you need a reservation. We decided to ask anyway and to our luck, a party of 7 had just cancelled so we were in! I had a pizza with bacon and some type of cheese that was white and wonderful (sorry, I don't know my cheeses). One of the best pizzas I've ever had in my life! It was the perfect size for one person. My husband had the burger and he loved it (so did I). It was grass fed beef and just had the best flavor. We decided to make a reservation for the next night and we just barely got in. Obviously, this is the best place to eat in Beaufort - as we walked through town the other restaurants looked dead compared to Bull Tavern. The only caution I have is that if you don't like to sit close to others, you may not be pleased with the seating arrangements. It didn't bother us. Can't wait for tomorrow night!

Food is great but the service needs some work. We had reservations two weeks out and were left waiting on our first course over thirty minutes as other tables were served. The server said it was taking a long time to prepare. We had ordered OLIVES.

Nondescript looking place from the outside. Had to convince my partner to eat here. What sealed the deal was that they were fully booked up for the tables at the noisy inside, but had seating out in the quiet patio, and it was a nice night. They have the beginnings of a pleasant patio dining area. Could use some more light strings and perhaps a heater or two on chilly nights. They could even fit several more 2-person tables out there. They have a herb garden of basil, oregano, sage and a few others that they picked on occasionally. When the Jasmine and Clemitas between the patio and the parking lot mature, it will be an awesome place to enjoy a meal for sure. This group seems to have a winning formula for success. A pleasant, helpful wait staff can either make or break a place. Nice selection of reasonably priced menu items, plenty of wine and beer, including many craft beers on one side of the menu, awesome selection of food on the reverse. We both had the shoulder sirloin with garganzola sauce. It was tender and delicious. After we left, we had a nightcap at one of the places along the riverwalk, Lukes. On the way back to the Beaufort Inn, we passed by the Old Bull. It was still humming at 9:30pm. We wished it was closer to Jersey.

Stopped into Beaufort on a trip north on the ICW and Yelped for a place eat with the owner of yacht, this place was #1 and they definitely lived up to their reputation. Cocktails were amazing, appetizers were amazing, dinners amazing... Well you get the idea, go and enjoy.

Service is alwasy wonderful. Peeps is a great bartender that is attentive and courteous. You can usually catch him in some freindly banter with some unsuspecting bar patron. Try the Orient Express for a delicious martini. It's a delcious concoction of vodka, Canton, and fresh orange zest. Probably a few extra things in their as well. Either way...delicious. After three of these I officialy change the name and start letting everyone know I'm on the honky tonk to asian town.

Great food, good service, had a good time. We ordered one of their pizzas to share and didn't expect it to be so small, but it was really the only downside to the place. Enjoyed a good meal and a few drinks, would highly recommend!

Stacy the reservation person was very accommodating and our server, Brie, was awesome. The special drinks were OK but the gin martini was REALLY good. (I'm still buzzing from it.) The salad was really good and the oysters were interesting. But - OMG - the bacon and gruyere pizza was totally awesome ... so tasty. I mean, really delicious. The tiramisu was better than average. If I'm ever back in Beaufort, I'm definitely returning.

One of my favorite places ever. I wish I didn't live so far away, but it's worth a day trip to go to! The atmosphere is cozy, sophisticated but also quirky (there's an old phone booth inside.) Appetizers: Pork Belly Sliders, you cannot go wrong. Asian zest with a perfectly steamed bun and melt in your mouth pork. Entrees: I stuck to the classics and got the burger. I usually like to pile on bacon, lettuce etc, but this burger needed nothing. I got just cheese and ketchup, before the ketchup it was delicious, that's when you know you are dealing with quality beef (MiBek Farms.) It's been over a year and I still talk about that burger. The waffle chips/fries were scrumptious as well. Others in our party got the lamb, a pasta dish and beef tenderloin. We all sampled each other's and they were all exceptional and everyone left very satisfied, wishing we had gone earlier during our stay. The service was great as well.

Amazing bartenders, great food, and stunningly cheap prices. Bartenders were of the quality I would expect in the nicer joints of SF or NYC. Very talented and knowledgeable.... ask for a flaming drink or something cool. The prices are so good that they can't be making money. And the staff is very friendly... best place in Beaufort by far.

Very happy we went here, incredibly nice and receptive staff who worked us in at the bar when they were full

I was there on a weeknight, but it was still crowded. Sat at the bar. Service was spotty. Somehow my dinner order was put behind another dinner who ordered 15-20 minutes after me. The pork belly appetizer was very tasty. The pizza I had was excellent. The Pinot Noir I had on tap was pretty darn good. I would definitely return.

My favorite place to eat in Beaufort. The pizzas are outstanding. Craft beer selection is good, and staff is outstanding.

My favorite spot in Beaufort! During my recent 2 week visit to Beaufort, this became my favorite spot for dinner. The ambience is perfect - cool speakeasy meets wine bar. The service is excellent and all of the staff we encountered was friendly and welcoming. Standout selections were the troublemaker wine on tap, pork shoulder and pizza! I ordered the sausage, garlic and mint pizza with no cheese and now I'm craving it daily.

Good Food Served in a Din Starting with Mendocino Red Tail Ale and enjoying the quality of the Tavern Cheese with Toasts set the bar high for our expectations, and we were not disappointed. The lamb shank with tomato and olives was sublime. My companion's beef tenderloin with gorgonzola cheese was a generous and tasty meal. The Uno Malbec was a suitable compliment to both entrees. Unfortunately the service was ragged with extensive waits between each contact with the server. In fact, so lengthy that the server had completely forgotten our wine selection and had to be reminded as our entrees arrived. And, yep, I emphatically agree with all the noise complaints. While I'm not sure what could be done to ameliorate the din, we were glad to be leaving around 7 o'clock when the racket was well into a cacophonous crescendo. That aside: the food was wonderful. FANTASTIC! OMG I love this place. What a prize and so glad we went. Cocktails were excellent - Purgatory was my fav. Food - fabulous and great menu. Service was excellent. Win! I wish we'd brought a pizza home to have for breakfast. The salted caramel dessert - well, I used my finger to get every bit of it out of the bowl. LOVE.

Every single dish was amazing, they all were so flavorful! My husband and I shared the tomato basil soup, pizza, duck entree, and strawberry dessert. This place beats every other food joint in Beaufort.

Decided to check this place out based on Yelp and Trip Advisor reviews. So glad I did! My dinner was awesome. I tried the ricotta gnocchi with shrimp and I must say it was one of the best dinners out I have had in quite awhile. I eat out frequently so I have a lot to compare it to and this place definitely stands out. The service and food were great. On the flip side, the restaurant is indeed noisy but I expected that based on previous reviews. Because of the high calibre of food, I am willing to let them slide on the noise factor. The town was very quiet tonight but this place was happening! That should tell you something. From what I observed, everyone was having a good time and I left knowing that I will indeed visit this place again. Give it a try.

Great find...new in town and we'll be back. Very creative menu expertly executed...attentive staff...and owner who is involved. Excellent cocktails too! Can get a little noisy but clearly THE hot spot in town.

Totally awesome! Great food, great vibe, great staff, great music and level, great cocktails, funky finish out, creative and well executed menu. No down side to a Friday night in this place. Well done!!

Food = 4 (wasabi deviled eggs are great southern asian combo) Price = 4 Experience = 4 (it may warrant a 5, but I'll need multiple visits to be sure) A great new addition to Beaufort.

This is THE BEST restaurant in Beaufort. If you leave hungry, you are doing dinner wrong. This place blew be away with food, beer, and atmosphere. The food was to die for. The beer selection was great. The atmosphere was welcoming. The only downside is I didn't find this place until the week before I moved across country. Talk about a buzz kill, but I can't hold that against them. Go here and enjoy, I wish I could.

Like it a lot. Eating at the bar was fun, but would rather have had a table. Want a table... I advise calling early and making reservations. This place gets hopping after 7PM. Met the owner, a seasoned restaurateur which significant wine and food credits to his name. Selling a well established Italian eatery in Charleston a couple of years ago to tempt fate here in Beaufort... and it pays off. Outside in the cooler months an open fire pit. Accommodating and doting bar staff (ours seconds as a waiter). Wine list is unusual and filled with the not-easy-to-come-by offerings; a salute to the owner/oenophile. I had a Lamb Shank the night before at a competing establishment (Lion-with-wings) which was half the meat and near twice the cost. This Lamb Shank was served with mashed potatoes and green beans and carrots and a jus that was lick-your-plate-clean good. Wife had the ricotta gnocchi w/ shrimp dish. Had a glass of La Freynelle Meritage to pair with the Lamb. Wife had the Lucky Peach cocktail and all for under $50. The owner and staff made sure we were well taken care of and sealed the deal on having us return again for another fabulous meal in the future. SaleebScore: Service: 9/10 Atmosphere: 10/10 (before the crush of crowd... then down to 9/10) Food: 8.5/10 Value: 7/10

Wow! What a delicious and unexpected treasure in Beaufort. The food was amazing, and so well priced. We recommend the gnocchi and had the most amazing Gorgonzola pasta we have ever had. The owner came over and talked with us for awhile. So friendly! I highly recommend this for a date night, group, or a family. We didn't try the pizza but the pizza oven was authentic. Can't wait to go back!!

Magnificent addition to the Beaufort dining scene. Long-time fans of Charleston's Al Di La will be glad to know its former owner has re-opened in Beaufort. Don't expect the same menu, but the chef does still make the focaccia bread that made Al Di La my family's favorite in Charleston.

Food was amazing. My husband and I started with the pork belly steamed buns, followed with the winemaker salad, and split the chicken with sweet sausage. Our waiter suggested great wines. Wish I had gone for dessert too. Great atmosphere and intimate tables. Good date night spot.

Excellent! Had an early seating here with our young kids (yeah, this is not a great kid place, but 5pm seating worked fine and staff was friendly and accommodating). Tried a bunch of food and was pleased to thrilled with all of it, except for the salad which didn't really come together for me. Pork Belly Buns were an excellent starter... Ricotta Gnocchi with shrimp was outstanding. Light, perfect gnocchi, fresh, perfectly cooked shrimp in a red sauce that I literally cleaned out of the bowl with a spoon. Had several other entrees that were all very good... pork cutlet, lamb, burger etc. All were good to great. Super food, excellent service and a warm room. If we're ever in Beaufort again, we will be sure to stop back here.

Absolutely amazing place for dinner and a great bar scene. A little different scene than the waterfront bars, but different in a good way. Highly recommend it whether it be for dinner or just a few drinks.

This is my absolute favorite spot in Beaufort! Everything this about this place always blows me away. The food, the atmosphere, and the service keep this place on my mind for days after spending a night at Old Bull. If you do anything in Beaufort, this should be it.

We went for the food, and we were disappointed. I think that if you think of this as a hip bar that also serves food, you'll be more impressed. We found dinner (duck breast with grilled peaches and polenta) underwhelming and expensive for what it was. That said, the food was certainly edible and attempted to provide interesting flavors. It just fell short in the execution. Drink list provides a nice selection. Note: even half full the Old Bull Tavern is incredibly noisy.

We came here for drinks one night and dinner the next. The late night cocktails were great - we had both the LBG and the Purgatory. The bartender was friendly and attentive, despite our 1am arrival. The local patrons were fun and friendly as well. Last, $7 for a handcrafted cocktail is a bargain. For dinner we shared the winemakers salad- it was huge and hearty without being heavy. I had the gnocchi- it was perfect- like little pillows of ricotta with a fresh tomato sauce and flavorful shrimp. My boyfriend had the burger, which was good. We finished with this desert that had an almond brittle cup filled with a light pastry cream and fresh fruit. It was phenomenal. I smiled all the way back to Charleston, because that meal was so good. The table service was perfect as well. Last but not least, the price point at this place is incredible. I'm astonished that our total bill was less than $40. How is the food that good and the prices that reasonable? I smell an organized crime front.

Very, very good!! 8 people in our group and all were happy. Half our group ordered cocktails and loved them. Some ordered beer and loved them. Wine list is good for food on menu. Winemakers salad is for 2!!!

Always our go-to place, with the girls, with the hubs, with co workers. Great staff, great drinks, great vibe. The most creative drink menu in town, great music, sometimes on an actual record player! Just love it!!!!

The pork chop entrée was disappointing, and so was the service. The waiter was nice, but lacked basic insight into the menu and the preparation of the entrees. This place seems to be more about their asthetic than their product. The former is good, the latter is very average.

We came here last Wednesday night before joining our family for dinner at another place. We read about the cocktails and we wanted to try one before our dinner. Well Matthew, our bartender, was great and we went and had dinner only to return...with several family members to finish the night at The Old Bull. I had the classic Sazerac which Matthew prepared exquisitely and my wife tried the LBG. I will agree with another reviewer....for handcrafted cocktails at $7 is fair as can be. I have paid $11-$13 for cocktails by a similar name but not as fresh of ingredients nor prepared with as much care. I wish I could comment on the food offerings but as I said we had dinner plans elsewhere. The LGB contains muddled lemon and basil along with ginger liqueur and vodka....this gives a mojito plenty of competition as a refreshing summer cocktail. I'm giving 4 stars because we didn't have any food but if they care about their plates as they do their glasses then this is an easy 5.

This is a hidden gem in Beaufort. I lived here 9 months before discovering Old Bull Tavern and cannot get enough of it now. Went three times for dinner and once for drinks. The cocktails are great and reasonably priced. The menu changes with the season and has not disappointed. My husband's favorites were the Morroccan Beef and the Duck breast, as well as the Wasabi Deviled eggs. The salmon was good and I am obsessed with the bruschetta, lots of garlic which I love. Thai Tini and the Purgatory were fun, stiff drinks. Really cant say enough about this place. Service and bartenders very friendly.

Normally I would never go to eat at a place with this name and the outside was not encouraging...but inside was a different story. A long skinny place with a nice bar on the right side and small tables on the left with more tables on the back. Get a back table if you don't like crowds. Waitress was great, we could only get a reservation before six so it wasn't crowded, but it filled up by six thirty that Saturday night. My wife started with a tomato bisque that was very thick, tasted like fresh tomatoes even in January...wonderful. I started with pork belly dumplings..think of thick bacon with cucumber, greens and a great sauce in between two layers of chinese dumpling....pretty good! Wife had gnocchi with shrimp..shrimp was excellent ( Sous Vide?) the tomato sauce was good and gnocchi about average. I had a wonderful pappardelle pasta ( short ribbon pasta) with portabella. Alfredo like sauce was the best i can remember, entire dish was great! These were the medium plates and with the appetizer it was enough to eat. We live near Beaufort in the winter and we will be eating here again.

Was in town from Portland, OR and this place has an outstanding cocktail list, great beers on both draft and bottle and Matthew the bartender could get a Nobel Prize in Mixology. Great atmosphere and great people.

This is a great place! Food is good, service is very good, and prices are reasonable. The wine selection is good and the bar well stocked. This is one worth trying in Beaufort. We will go back.
