Good seafood restaurant. Family run and good service. Closes very early, sometimes 8 I think. You may want to call before going if going late.

They advertise Blue Bell, yet when my family stopped in to get ice cream there, it was Blue Bunny (way different quality.).. When I commented about it on their Facebook, they got snitty and then deleted my comments. I'll drive to Denmark to Freezie Breezie (or if I want really good ice cream, Aiken to Brusters) before I get ice cream there again. As for food, save yourself a stomach ache and your Money and drive 10 miles to Meeting on Main in Williston! Their food and staff are way better!

Like Anthony's around the corner (in Barnwell) I don't remember how many times I went to Lakeside during my year-long residency in South Carolina, but all I can say is that it's probably the best place to eat at in Barnwell, SC. Lakeside offers a potful of peanuts and a bowl to discard the shells alongside it at the tables. They offer a small buffet with about 14 different items to choose from and they offer the typical American/Southern foods you can think of. The food quality is good, but by no means comparable to restaurants in the big cities. At least half of my visits to Lakeside consisted of eating a prime steak for lunch (either the 8oz or the 12oz). Not bad for a restaurant in Barnwell. The sweet tea over at Lakeside tended to be watered down over the course of the meal (the lady keeps adding more and more ice to your cup, which eventually dilutes the tea). As far as food goes, Anthony's offers a decent selection of hamburgers (chicken and beef), Southern delights (sweet peas, ribs on some occasions, fried ocre, collard greens), and a handful of other items like country fried steak, fried fish (fish and chips), and fried chicken (emphasize "fried"). Stop by Lakeside if you're ever in Barnwell. They close Monday (of all days), so don't go there on that day.

Service was spot on. We were greeted quickly and drink orders came quickly. We had the battered mushrooms as an appetizer. Which weren't bad. I had the lakeside burger with Swiss cheese and grilled onions. It was actually pretty good. That is where the positives stop. The salad bar featured old lettuce, diced tomatoes and cucumbers. No croutons or bacon bits. And I don't think I have ever had a more bland tasting salad in my life. But it wasn't long before the burger arrived and I thought the afternoon meal could be saved. My girlfriend had the fried flounder and oysters from the pick two seafood platter. From the first bite, she said something wasn't right. I tried an oyster and it had a funny taste. More like it had been cooked in really old grease. She complained that the fish was odd tasting as well. I tried a small piece of the flounder and had the same opinion. It wasn't until 8 hours later we discovered that something was not only FISHY about our lunch but rotten. Bless her heart. She spent the next 24 hours sick on her stomach. Not sure if it was the old grease or what. But I had a sour stomach and stomach trouble myself. Just not the violent projectile problems my girlfriend was experiencing. I find it shame because my local friends gave this place very high marks. But something was definitely FISHY about our lunch.

Two of us went today in January and the place was freezing, with doors opening and staying open while we ate in coats. Meat was tough and fried chicken was tasteless. Veggies were very good as were desserts. Help ignored us and the buffet at $14.00 for two without beverages was hard to eat without proper silverware and napkins: both missing from buffet display. The help stood eating in front of everyone and visiting with friends in the kitchen. Worst part: ONE bathroom that is coed and dirty. Men and women had to stand in a short line outside and wait. Brought back memories of the "good old days" and an outhouse. Well, it's back to Anthony's.
