Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Applebee's is the absolute worst. Almost. Apparently it's a local hot spot. That's not saying much, considering the options Westerly has, especially after all the seasonal businesses close. My most recent Applebee's experience was plagued with kitchen mistakes and mediocre food. The waitress was pleasant, and I have no complaints about the service in general. Every time I've ever been to Applebee's I've left with a feeling of regret and disappointment. If you're in the area, I recommend going to 99 instead.

The service is sub par at best, the food is inconsistent in presentation and serving size and the bar is just too loud and in your face for a family restaurant.

Up to 4 stars. Applebee's in Westerly did right by me. I went in without their knowledge and ordered dinner at the bar. Not the same meal mind you, but close. I was pleased with food quality and atmosphere. Friendly staff. I paid for my dinner and then spoke to the manager. Something must have been wrong the night I was in there. High marks for customer service. The manager explained that "Right after Christmas, everyone is redeeming gift cards." So perhaps the restaurant was scrambling to keep up with the diners. And perhaps because of the holiday, experienced kitchen help were away on vacation, etc.

Fries and lighthouses. Most Applebee's are pretty much the same. Decent if unspectacular food and reasonable prices. This one was a bit different because it had nice pictures of local scenes and lighthouses on the walls. The building is nice and clean and we were seated and our order taken almost immediately . Very pleasant and efficient service but not pushy or rushed. While we waited for the food I walked around and looked at all the cool stuff on the walls. Definitely some nice pictures and photos that gives the restaurant a real local feel to it. The food was all right, nothing special although the sweet potato fries were really good. A nice place with good food and decent prices. And I even got to look at some lighthouses.

I eaten here several times before and found the food good but so unrememberable that I'd forget to review. I came here Saturday and was very satisfied with both the service and the food. Drinks were refilled promptly and new items on the menu were fun to try. All good. I say keep your expectations reasonable and expect to drop at least $15 and you'll leave happy.

I'm surprised to see such horrible reviews here. This was my second time eating here. The first time was when it first opened. We also came last night with a group of 8 (one of them a toddler). The waiter Dave explained to us that the bartender had gone home early due to a family emergency so he had to cover both spots. And even with him covering our table and the bar we had no issues with empty drink cups or slow service. We all ordered off the 2 for $20 and 2 for $25 menu except for the toddler and the birthday boy (grandpa). Sundried tomato penne cheesy pasta for gramps and a hot dog for the little one. I'll just throw out our whole order instead of naming who had what. The 3 appetizers were the onion rings, the spinach and artichoke dip (do not leave here with out ordering that. It is soooo good) and buffalo chicken bites. The rings were were super crunchy and seriously ginormous. The buffalo chicken bites were pretty tasty but my teen boys discovered that if you take a sniff of them it leaves a funny numbing/burning sensation in your nose. Kind of like eating wasabi for the first time sans the eye watering burning. Now as for the dip it comes with thin tortilla chips and a cup of salsa. But seriously who ever uses the salsa? The dip is so yummy. It's the only way I've ever eaten artichokes. Hehe The entrées for the rest of us were the fried shrimp basket, chicken tenders basket, rib basket , riblet basket, 4 cheese Mac and cheese with honied chicken tenders. Every thing was good. Hot temp and came out at the same time. 3 1/2 for food and another half for the service. I wouldn't go here with just the hubby and I alone but if I'm bringing the kids along this place is definitely and option.

Their car side to go service sucks. I sat in my car for 10 minutes before I went inside and my meal wasn't even ready. My order was scheduled for pick up at 1:10PM I arrived at approximately 1:05PM and I did not receive my food until 1:20PM. Also when I went inside to ask about an order for pick up the hostess looked at me like an idiot. I will never come here again.

Come on it is a chain ! Of course the food had a color not found in nature, sure it all tastes like soap. What do you expect ? PS: Free drink if you can " name that smell." Hint:Think Mobile Station rest room. I think this food is left over from the Cold War.

Waited 5 min to be seated with no one else waiting and plenty of seats. No TP in either bathroom stall. New TP rolls were dirty with dirt and sawdust. Slow service. Shrimp fajita came with uncooked shrimp. Maybe 1 was cooked all the way. Took longer than an hour to eat and pay.

Waited to be seated, waited 10 min once seated and nobody even asked us for a drink order, we left. Nothing at applebees worth waiting and getting bad service.

At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain.
