This is a consistently "ok" place to eat. Limited menu and has a twinge of fast-food to it; definitely a work-a-raunt. The service is generally slower even if you are the only person in the restaurant because they cook everything to order. I'll admit coming from the South, this is much better than an Arby's in regards to the quality of meat, with the same if not cheaper, prices. Good for those that need something quick before a flight... just budget some time accordingly. This is not going to get you serviced as quick as a Wendy's, McDonald's or Burger King.

This may not be the best roast beef sandwich but its very good and consistant. Service is excellent and the place appears very clean.

Excellent roast beef. Always moist and cook to you liking. The french fries are also very good. Counter service employees are very friendly and helpful. The roast beef sandwiches come in a number of different sizes.

Heading back to Connecticut from a weekend in Rhode Island the family and I decided to stop here based upon the reviews for a quick lunch. Upon entering the layout and Decore left a lot to be desired however I was there for the roast beef sandwich and fries not atmosphere. The rolls were very good. Buttered and put on the flattop to crisp up, however the roast beef was dry tasteless and somewhat gritty. The french fries, while good we're not exceptional. I was far from impressed with the quality of the sandwich. The fries were just ok.

Ok, I know. It's fast food and I just gave it five stars. But for fast food, it's awesome. Seriously, the best roast beef sandwich and French fries around (that is, if you're not in northern RI and can't get to Beef Barn). I miss working in this area simply because I can't slip out fort Walt's Roast beef fix every couple of weeks. Don't judge me -- Walt's gets my Fast Food Five Stars award.

This is one of the best Walts around. It has been next to the airport for years, and everytime I fly back home, I go there first for a walts RB sandwich, baked beans, onion rings and if I can, piece of chocolate cake with vanilla icing. Walts has been an institution since the original opened in North Kingstown (which is stil there). I only like this location the one in Cranston and the one in NK. The other is not run with the same devotion and care to the food. I can't imagine not having a Walts when in RI so I hope these 2 stay open forever!

Its a fast food roast beef sandwich joint. They have really good fries. Service is OK, wish they were open later.

I have to say it, but this is some good roastbeef and it depends on who you talk to. It's a rhode island thing just like miller's roastbeef is Massachusetts go to. It's juicy and goes perfect with the bun and cheese added. I love the fries they are always crispy and hot, I had just recently tried their onion rings which to me is a perfect combo and they are big not like burger kings. Another thing is the beans I'm not a fan but they are popular.

I was in Warwick recently for a Boards Review Course. I was getting sick of the hotel food and one of the other course participants recommended Walt's Roast Beef, so I thought I'd give it a try. I had a little trouble deciphering the menu, but the employees were very friendly, helpful, and patient. I ended up ordering the Walt's roast beef sandwich with a side of fries. The roast beef was moist, but, overall, the food was "okay."

I underestimated the food here before walking in. I had the Thanksgiving Special. It was pretty delicious. However, I really did not appreciate the foul language coming from the kitchen. I can appreciate having a good time at work, but these kids were being very inappropriate and very loud about out. I'd probably return since the food was good, but it certainly wont be during the night shift. Update: for some reason this review never posted until now. My visit was in 11/2011.

Walked in not knowing what to expect, was pleasantly surprised at how much of a little sandwich shop it is. Some of the best french fries I've ever had in my life, and the thanksgiving sandwich was delicious.

There comes a time in any world traveler's life when you get to the real thing -- a thing so cultural and so niche that no outsider would know or understand. That is what Walt's Roast Beef was to me. I concede that I may be exaggerating by a large bit, especially considering that Walt's is a Rhode Island chain. However, being the Southern girl that I am, my notions on roast beef (or any sliced hot deli meat sandwich) is only relegated to Arby's. The interior was definitely "mom-and-pop", by which I mean handwritten signs and seats reminiscent of what we call "country" (lack of decoration and plastic seating recalling a gas station in the middle of nowhere, with the restaurant staff to boot). Hence, I had my doubts when a coworker suggested this place for lunch. The menu is limited to about 6-7 sandwiches, all with variety of sliced hot meats. I opted for the seasonal Thanksgiving Turkey sandwich, which had sliced turkey meat, covered in cranberry sauce, lettuce and stuffing, and a side of onion rings. My coworkers went for their choices of roast beef sandwiches. The taste of everything was hot and delicious. The onion rings (my kryptonite) were the perfect size, large enough to fill you up, but small enough to dip into a cup of ketchup. My only complaint was the bread to meat ratio. Had the bread been a toasted and a little firmer, it could've probably held the entire sandwich together (which walloped over with meat), but instead, it could've only been eaten with a fork and knife. Not to mention, the stuffing kept falling over. If you're in for an easy, fast meal, this is definitely better than your average Burger King or McDonalds. Be prepared though, a meal of this size is going to leave you with an extreme case of the sleepies.

I went in last night and it is definitely the best Walt's Roast Beef in the state! The food is delicious and the counter staff was so pleasant. I was happily greeted by the girl working the front counter who was very helpful and attentive. I had the regular roast beef sandwich with some fries (unsalted fries which was great!) The meat was tasteful and juicy and the buttered roll made it even better. I ate there and the dining room was spotless, as well as the rest of the restaurant, although it is all a little outdated. I frequently stop into the various Walt's around RI, but this is the one I will coming back to. If anyone has not tried it yet...you should!!

I have to believe the only reason this place was empty at 7:00 in the evening was because it was Good Friday in a heavily Catholic neighborhood. It's nothing fancy, but the sandwiches are tasty and reasonably priced, and the service is prompt. The beef was fresh and juicy, not intensely flavorful but also not artificially over-flavored. Another person in our group got the Thanksgiving roll and liked it. Convenient food and service in a convenient location.

These roast beef sandwiches are amazing. And i don't even like roast beef! By the looks and name of this place, I wasn't expecting too much more than crappy fast food, but I had the desire to try it anyway. Very glad i did! They don't have many sides though. French fries which aren't good and onion rings that are just like Burger King's.... yuck.

Great roast beef sandwiches. My family is from Rhode Island, and whenever we're out for a visit, we hit up Walt's. They don't add any sauce to their sandwiches, so you taste the roast beef.

Roast beef is roast beef. Not here, juicy tender and the best french fries on the planet bar none.

I've been here twice now and I really can't justify another trip back. The meat to me has no taste whatsoever, the service is curt, and they don't offer fountain refills (doesn't everyone else??). The BBQ sauce is also nothing special. And it costs $8 to feel like you've had enough for a small lunch. No thanks, will be on the lookout for a better roast beef option.

my favorite fast food of all time....everytime i am in RI i have to make a stop at Walt's. There is one located a few blocks down from the airport so that is always my 'last stop' before getting on the plane!!

First time at any Walt's Roast Beef. I'm from NY/NJ and this place reminds me of Arby's, a fast food chain that specializes in roast beef. The restaurant is in an outdoor mall next to HR Block and Staples. I got the "Yukon" which is 1/4 pound of beef with shredded lettuce and supposedly tomatoes, but I don't recall biting into any. It also comes with "special sauce" which tasted like very, very weak Tabasco sauce. I also got fries which were thick like your pinky, and a small salad. Forget the salad unless you desperate need some greens. Mine had some pink edges so it must have been sitting for some time. It was just a few pieces so I just shove those aside. The roast beef was tender, but on the bland side. I had to add salt to it. And I normally don't add salt to my food. The bread soaked up most of the juice so it became a soggy sandwich; both my hands were covered in juice and special sauce. For the price paid (fast food prices) I give it 3 stars. The dining area looks dated, 1970-ish . It had large windows that face the boulevard so you can watch traffic if that's your thing. No body walks in this part of town, so just traffic. The place also had a coin operated crane machine if you wanted diversion to win a stuffed animal.

Ordered a regular roast beef with cheese, lettuce and tomato. The meat was cooked excellent and tasted like real meat, not the real processed stuff you get at some places.

I've never had roast beef but they have a good Thanksgiving roll. Then again, it's hard to mess up a Thanksgiving roll, aka the best sandwich ever made. The pulled pork isn't bad either. The only downside is that the buns aren't toasted resulting in some pretty soggy buns.

Just paid another visit to Walt's on the way to the airport, not nearly as good as I remembered. I might have been too complimentary in my first review.
