Rhea's is a perfect place if you're looking for something off the beaten path! We stumbled upon this place when we didn't have a dinner reservation, and all of the dinner restaurants in downtown Newport were too packed to get in. I called Rhea's and the waitress said we could stop by, no wait. When we got there, there were a couple of families there but it was mostly empty, and the waitress had already set our places and put out ice waters for us! This was just the beginning of an excellent experience at Rhea's. The interior of the restaurant is very homey, complete with a fireplace. The service was stellar, and all of our food was delicious. I got the ribs, which were out of this world. If you order a salad, make sure you try their raspberry vinaigrette. And the entire bill was just 50 dollars for three people, which you just won't find elsewhere in Newport. Rhea's is a must-try-- I will definitely be back!

My wife and I had an early dinner here Restaurant is simply but beautifully uncluttered decor. Warm fireplace just lit by our table. Nice menu, I had the ribs, it is true they fall off the bone nice rice and a $2.00 side salad, perfect. My wife had eggplant parm. with ziti also excellent and enough to take home for lunch. We will be going back soon.

Stopped here for dinner with a friend on the way to a New Years Eve party. He lives just down the street and had heard good things from co workers about it. Place doesn't look like much from the street, but has a pleasant and upscale feel to it once you get inside. Fire place going, background music, etc. I ordered the half-rack of ribs and it was amazing! Definitely would recommend!

I'd actually give Rhea's a 3.5. Overall I'd say it was in between "A-OK" and "I'm a fan." Let's start with the appetizers - had the seafood stuffed mushrooms and also some New England clam chowder. The mushrooms started out with an odd taste but after one bite, the favors started popping. Definitely a winner! The seafood stuffing (not just mush - actually contains seafood!) along with the lemon flavor and the mushroom just worked very well together. Would get this again without a doubt. Next up the Clam Chowder: again, very impressed! I'd put it up against anyone's recipe! Had my share of chowdah up here since I've spent some significant time over the years in the area. There were clams, potatoes, and bacon in EVERY bite and I really enjoyed it! Well done! But the reason it didn't get a 4 or 5 star rating from me was the ribs. They absolutely fell off the bone and thought I was going to be in for a treat, but the sauce was way too overpowering and I really didn't get enough flavor from the meat. Would have liked that. Also the very tops of the ribs were a bit overcooked...enough to make them tough. Ribs are a tough food to master, and they were just OK here. I place a higher emphasis on the entrees than the appetizers. Would come back though.

Rhea's Kicthen was a very good place for breakfast in the Middletown area. It is not fancy, but the food was fresh and very tasty, and the service was great.

Absolute perfection. I had the baked sole with a baked potato and couldn't have been happier! If you are in Newport, stop by!

The clam chowder was excellent. I recommend the grilled cheese, but ask for a side of au jus, you will thank me ;). My wife had the cod fish n chips, really good also

Fantastic food. We had baked sole, BBQ RIBS and chicken and an amazing handmade burger.

I had good service and a very high quality meal. I enjoyed the atmosphere, the decorations, and the food. my only suggestion for the owners would be to change the suggested tip on the bottom of the receipt from giving 10, 15, 20 percent to giving 15, 18, and 20%. the menu prices, service provided, and atmosphere in no way reflected that anyone should be leaving a 10 percent tip and with as many foreigners as we have in this area it may be misleading to provide that as one of the numbers for ease of tip calculation. I'm sure the servers would appreciate the more reasonable and standard 15 to 20 percent.

3 years later still 5 stars! Completely remodeled, soothing colored walls, 2 fireplaces and softly playing music. Very relaxing ambience. Immaculately clean! Had an early sunday dinner, ordered 2 scallop dishes. One broiled, one fried. each with a choice of 2 sides, Scallops were fresh and perfectly prepared as were the side dishes. Dinner, 2 glasses of wine, 2 vodka cocktails the tab came to $74.00 plus a 20% tip. It's located 5 minutes from downtown Newport.

How about a real review? my sis had the ribs which were burnt, so none of meat fell off the bone, it was over saused with a bitter after taste. the pasta was more like egg noodles, and the meat balls and sauce was OK. The service was good, but sadly the food was nothing to write home about.

Do yourself a favor and stop reading this and go to the restaurant now! I only wish we had something so great back home, for now I will have to limit my time to when our family is in RI. My husband had the ribs, AMAZING! I had the striped bass, EXCELLENT! And we shared the stuffed mushrooms, I wanted ten plates more. What a find!

Rhea's is hands down my favorite restaurant on the island, and quite possibly my favorite period. My wife and I frequent the restaurant as often as possible and have yet to leave unsatisfied. The atmosphere, combined with excellent food make for a great experience. I almost always get the prime rib, which is unrivaled anywhere I have ever been. It is always cooked to perfection, full of flavor, and juicy as hell. The au jus, also my favorite, compliments it perfectly. If you are a beef lover like me, this is a must, as you won't find anything to even compare it to. Last night I decided to deviate from my usual selection and I went for the ribs, as they are a local favorite, and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. In one word, excellent! They were full of flavor and fall off the bone. If ribs are your thing, stop reading and try them for yourself. My wife always gets the Greek salad which never lets her down. Made with fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, green onion, olives, and feta, it is never a bad choice. Other dishes I recommend are the scallops, clams casino, and a good old fashion angus burger. I barely scratched the surface , so get in there and try it for yourself. I guarantee you will leave with a smile.

The only thing that disappoints me about rheas is that I didn't eat here sooner. Everything is so fresh and delicious, I would eat here every night. The statler chicken is by far the most amazing chicken I have ever had. I recommend rheas to everyone I know

I like Rhea's, it just doesn't overwhelm me. They have good prices and good food, just nothing that I find stands out about them. A solid place to go, undoubtedly and a place I will go back to. Don't let my three star rating fool you.

The food was very tasty. We ordered the clam chowder and crab cakes to start and the ribs and prime rib as entrees. Everything was really excellent. Service was very friendly and efficient and the restaurant was nice but still fine for a casual meal. They also had good selection of wines at reasonable prices. All in all a great place.

Wife had the excellent ribs, I had the Captains seafood platter. Fantastic! Seafood was fresh and lightly seasoned, corn on the cob perfect, salad great, wait staff friendly, decor very pleasant. Just go, you'll love it!

Nice place! Ive only had the ribs... But they're the best ribs I've ever had. No draft beer only bottles. Just get the ribs.

If you are worried that the 23 other 5 star reviews before this were not accurate I can assure you it is definitely the best ribs I have ever had!!!! If you love ribs, don't question just go!!!

My husband and I were driving into Newport when we decided to use Yelp to get some ideas on somewhere different to eat. The reviews for Rhea's raved about their ribs so we headed on over. This place was AMAZING! The reviews are not exaggerated at all. My husband had the ribs and I enjoyed the broiler captain seafood platter which was seasoned perfectly and tasted so fresh. The rice pilaf was the side dish and it was perfect. I sampled my hubby's ribs which he really enjoyed. Services was great. We would recommend this to anyone and don't let the outside fool you this place is wonderful!

The decor is simple and clean. The exterior and signage is lackluster but only the foolish would drive past without entering and trying their BBQ ribs. The beer selection is small and isn't representative of the great local brews in New England BUT who cares! The prime is good, the chicken is moist and flavorful, and the ribs are masterfully smoked and cooked to fall-off-the-bone goodness. The wait staff is attentive and friendly and it's usually not packed (I went on a Friday and weekday night). Great ribs, good service, did I mention great ribs?

Came here on a Saturday night after a long day at Martha's vineyard. Was a little surprised when we walked in that no one else was there? It was around 7:30. However it just made our service that much better! Although after a half hour several parties came in. Every single thing we ordered; apps, entrées, and drinks were great. initially came here because my niece shares the name of the restaurant, but was surprised at how good it was. Highly recommended

We stopped here because someone said not to pass up the ribs! So we tried them and I have to admit they were very good. They were tender, fall off the bone, tasty ribs. The ambience was perfect. We sat in front of a roaring fire, had some antipasto and wine...it was perfect and romantic.

Rhea's food and drinks are yummy! My husband and I came here on a Saturday night and were the only ones in the whole place. I couldn't understand how a place with such good food was emtpy. Eventually another couple arrived for dinner but I would expect more people in a restaurant like Rhea's. We will definitely go back if we are in the Newport area again.

If you think the food is great here...you're right!!! But have you had the desserts?? The bread pudding was the best I've ever had! (And I make my own!!!). Thanks for making our last night in New England memorable.

Had lunch here yesterday and it was out standing!!!! We started with the New England clam chowder! Really good! Tasted homemade with clams , potatoes , bacon and fresh herbs! Then we shared a Greek salad, with Kirby cucumbers and farm stand tomatoes , fresh olives and wonderful feta finished with a great vinaigrette !! Outstanding ! Then we shared the best turkey club we've ever had!! Fresh moist turkey , perfectly toasted bread, with crispy bacon you don't get better!! The waiter was courteous and efficient !! Will definitely be back!!!

Rhea's has the best BBQ ribs on Aquidneck Island, hands down. Jimmy Moisiades, owner/operator/chef, cooks them to perfection every time so that the meat falls off the bone with hardly any effort. Forget about Smokehouse Cafe, Becky's BBQ, or any other place on the island serving barbeque ribs. You will understand what I'm talking about once you order from Rhea's. In addition to the ribs, I've also tried several other items, mostly seafood, and they have all been very nicely done. Jimmy does not cut corners in his ingredients. All of the meat/produce is top quality. The dining room was recently remodeled last year and looks great inside. I'd most definitely recommend Rhea's to anyone looking for a great meal at a reasonable price.

A group of 40 of us dined at Rhea's for the rehearsal dinner the night before a wedding. It was wonderful. From when we arrived and began ordering cocktails the service was spot on. Stuffed mushroom appetizer was so yummy, the bread was warm and tasted homemade, and the salad was perfect. I had fish and my husband had ribs and both meals were excellent. His ribs were falling off the bone. Barbeque sauce was fantastic. I had the bread pudding for dessert and it was the best bread pudding I've ever had. The décor was simple and tasteful. It was a wonderful evening, a great choice by the bride and groom for their closest friends and family.

Went to this place, because of the reviews on yelp. It didn't look like much driving up to it.....just a house. Inside it was nice and comfortable, not fancy, but relaxing and inviting. The service was very good and recommended a few dishes for us. We went with the ribs and lobster. WOW! The food was awesome, everything tasted great. Also, the chef actually came out a checked on us to see if you were enjoying our meal. I love how this place went to full lengths to make sure we were having a great experience. I wouldn't miss this place next time I come to Middletown!

Went to Rhea's based on the reviews here for the ribs. Fall of the bone, great sauce - and served with a fresh ear of corn that was perfect. We also had a burger that was one of the best that I've had on Aquidneck Island. There were a couple of cozy looking fireplaces on each side of the room, which I bet make for some nice atmosphere in the colder months. I'll definitely be back, hidden gem.

Amazing food. Hands down the best BBQ Ribs on the island. Nothing comes close around here. I don't know how they do it, but if you try it you will understand what I'm talking about.

I've ate at Rhea's many times and the food is delicious. The ribs are by far the BEST I have ever laid lips on! Jimmy the owner is considerate and makes you feel appreciated when dining at Rhea's.

Amazing little restaurant, especially for a hotel restaurant. The omelettes were delicious and worth a trip back.

Very good and consistent standard fare. The baked sole and the scallops are both very good lighter meals. The Italian fare has very abundant portions. Last week the served us warm out of the oven chocolate chip cookies. Incredible. Waitress/bar staff are very service oriented. Recent remodeling has added atmosphere especially fireplaces.

They've got some of the most fantastic, fall off the bone, melt in your mouth ribs I've ever tasted. This review is based on that alone. I've only had their ribs ... But, at Rhea's, they are so good you won't want to ever order anything else!
