Typical pizza joint I guess. Food wasn't "bad", but certainly nothing special. Tried to order the appetizer sampler platter, sub wings for boneless but they said no because it's already portioned out. Then went to order a small Greek salad, and the response I got was "there's no button for that on the register ". Soda came with their plastic cups, Salad came with its plastic plates, then dinner came with so much cheese and sauce I had to do some digging to find my food, which was at best OK. Additionally, after paying over $50 for 2 people, no alcohol I had an issue with the platter of unseasoned frozen vegetables. My Italian grandmother would be turning in her grave if she ate at this place. I didn't try their famous pizza, but my parents had already warned me not to as they dined there a week ago . If you want generic Italian, go to the Olive Garden. Same price, worlds better food.

Yuck! We went and had the scrod and chicken Marsala.. The chicken in the Marsala was fried chicken fingers... If anyone has had chicken Marsala you know that just isn't the way it should be. We went back a second time thinking we should give it another chance... Wrong! It was awful.. Got a pizza and crust was thick and pizza was dry... Antipasto had a lot of really wierd stuff on it that was just an awful combination! We will not be going back!

Not good. Food is very overpriced and doesn't taste good at all. Definitely better options out there

Right off the bat I was a bit dissapointed that there was no bar at all to speak off. That would have made our wait a little more enjoyable. Anyway, we went for one thing and one thing only....Pizza. Im sure at a place like this, the rest of the traditional italian menu is nothing but average but we expected good pizza. My wife and I ordered the two specialy pizzas and they were both very good. Asside from the tasty pizza nothing else really impressed us. The kitchen was PAINFULLY slow. They were still fairly new so that should get quicker as the newness of the place wears off and the kitchen gets more comfortable. It seems like a place were you can be comfortable bringing a group with children but since I dont have any yet, I think I would order takeout next time.

Been to this new location maybe 3 times since they opened. I was expecting better perhaps, having gone to the E.Prov location many times but service here hasn't been very good....no bread/butter when we went in one night and last time it took a long time for the waitress to take order. I was close to walking out. It was midweek and not very busy. The pizza is good and like their Eggplant but have enjoyed the E.Prov Uncle Tony's more. I will try them again and hope things get better. sorry

I ordered a Milano calzone, it was amazing! Today I went in to eat, and thinking I couldn't go wrong with another calzone I decided to get the Neapolitan which has meatballs in it..I took three bites and I didn't taste any meat...I tore it apart to find one tiny piece of "meatball" it tasted freezer burned..it was grey and certainly not a meatball...it looked like pastrami. Won't go again, sorry! It's too bad because the servers and hostess are A++++

Service was ok once we got it but took 45 mins to get our meal. By the time our waitress came over we were starving and still waited a while for drinks. Growing up my family and I ALWAYS went to the one in Pawtucket RI but Papa Johns took over and that was sad..then started going to East Providence. ..will keep going to the East Providence one as they are still the fastest and their bread seems nice and crusty compared to the Johnston location.

I stopped in for a chicken parm sandwich to go. It was good but I'm still looking for something great. Uncle Tony's in NP was our regular when I was a kid. I'm glad they're still around. But I'd need a little more research to decide how close they are to the old days.

I sure do love me some Uncle Tony's so I was pretty pumped when this one opened so close to my house. To preface though, I only ever order two things from here: pizza and a Plumpy. In the past I have tried their entrees and just did not enjoy them, so I stick with what I know will be good here. Their Plumpy's are a-maz-ing. It's definitely my favorite spinach pie (plus it has pepperoni and olives and cheese) in the state. And when you order their pizza, you have to order it well-done or it'll be a little on the doughy side. Not crazy about their wooden booths, they seem to have them at every Uncle Tony's and they just aren't that comfortable.

I have been to another one of their locations before and thought it was pretty good so was happy to try the one they opened five miles away from me. The place is pretty big they have a good sized area for take out and a large seating area. We were greeted and seated quickly. They brought us some delicious soft warm bread which we inhaled it was so good. We were not too hungry so we just ordered a large cheese and pepperoni pizza. It came out fairly quickly. The pizza was good. The sauce was tangy and the pepperoni those little cute ones that curl up and the oil sits in. My only complaint is that it needed to be cooked More. I will ask for it well done next Time and that is not really a big deal since I'm sure they would rather cook it again the. Have to throw out a dark one. I look forward to trying other things there too.

We just happened to be in the area and decided to stop in for pizza. It was on a weeknight but the place was steady. Our server was nice, and she gave us bread n butter right away. We tried the calamari which was ok. But we really enjoyed our pizza. It was good and we had no major complaints.

Not impressed and boy was I looking forward to the infamous Uncle Tony's Pizza. As a child I remember having their pizza all the time and it was the best thing in the world. And moving to an area with Uncle Tony's just being down the street I was so happy and looking forward to it. The place is rather small but the employees were really nice and helpful , but when receiving my pizza I wasn't impressed with the taste. I've had better pizza in my lifetime. The cheese on the pizza was the best part of the whole pizza. The crust was just like a typical crust and the pizza dough was just doughy with no good flavor. Me and my fiancé got a large pizza half mushroom and half pepperoni , and needless to say we didn't enjoy it . I spent 25.00 on a pizza that I didn't like at all. I won't never return to this Uncle Tony's. Im only giving a nice star rating because of the customer service. Otherwise try another pizza place.

I Don't Understand I don't really get this place. They took over an old restaurant and ripped out the bar. The building looks nice but they had a full bar and removed it. Why? As for the food, it's a decent pizza place with no atmosphere. People packed this place the first few weeks it opened and then I think people are figuring out that the place is just lame. Just get takeout, but why even bother, goto Tommy's on chalkstone or The Big Cheese in Cranston. Much better pizza places. Wanted to like it, sorry no dice. Thanks

I'll preface by saying this review is solely based on a take out order for pizza. I have always loved Uncle Tony's pizza specifically the location in East Prov. Growing up their pizza has been one of my favorites, so I had pretty high hopes trying this new location. You would think that the pizza would be consistent from location to location, but sadly this wasn't the case. From the pepperoni on it to the crispyness of the crust, this locations pizza was definitely not the same as what I'm used to from Uncle Tony's. Even the pizza itself seemed a little doughy. It definitely wasn't the worst pizza I've had but it was very underwhelming and flavor wise disappointing, especially for the price! The unfortunate lesson learned here is that this location couldn't live up to the deliciousness of Uncle Tony's that I have been used to. I most likely won't be ordering from here anymore and I ultimately hope they can change it up and figure out how to produce the same pizza that the one in EP has consistently been dishing out for so many years.

  • Nicole P.

The service was nice and quick, but the food was not the best quality. I hope to try it again, thinking maybe I just caught them on a bad day. I tried the pizza, which was a little burnt and lacked flavor. I'll try something else next time.

Tried to get lunch here around noon but wasn't seated. A large party was being taken care of ahead of us and my party and the party next to us hadn't even been considered or asked how many people were sitting. After waiting 10 minutes with nobody coming to ask us if we wanted to sit we walked out. The place was basically empty and I saw about 3 waitresses and no hostess. I prefer the Newport ave. location. Even when its too busy you're at least acknowledged.

  • Kathleen B.

I don't know what the problem is with some of the poor reviews. ..either we are going at a very good time or they are going at a very bad time. We have been to this Uncle Tony's at least twoce, possibly three times since they opened...granted it's no Old Canteen but folks its a family restaurant!!! When one goes to a family restaurant in my opinion one shouldn't expect tons of atmosphere! yes the lighting is bright and its NOT quiet but it's also not horrendously noisy! As far as the food...I love the eggplant sandwich and the lasagna that my husband and a friend of ours had was delicious. this last time I had the scallops and they cooked them just the way I had asked...not much butter and breadcrumbs and lots of lemon. No complaints there!!! Uncle Tony's doesn't have a full bar however the beer selection is great! the pizzas are also very good. I knkw we will be going back again and for those that had a problem, perhaps you may want to give it another try!

We went there dinner time for my mom birthday. our meals are good. We ate enjoy our meals, no issue with services. Just little bit slow cuz that time really busy. We will come back some day. We are glad see this building in business instead of empty since JD's restaurant close down.

Great pizza... old school thick, spicy slices of pepperoni. Salad was fresh and crispy, with lots of veggies. Zing wings were loved by my 10yr old. They are battered and fried. Definitely a good cheat meal place!

Such great pizza. Im so happy its only less than 5 minutes from my house. We have ordered from here about 6 times since they opened and we only had an issue once with the food but that was due to being so new. Not a big deal at all. The pizza and crust is flavorful and the toppings are fresh. Go and enjoy.

Tonight, Saturday 10/18/2014, my partner and I went to the location in Johnston at approximately 830pm. We were sat down immediately, however it ended there. The waitress came by ONCE around 845pm, and told us she would be right with us. At 907pm, we decided to leave because the waitress was STILL NOT around. Very unacceptable. This was an awful experience, and will more than likely NOT return to the is location. The woman at the front desk even had the nerve (who had sat us), said have a good night!! Unbelievable!! Poor poor service.

so this is the second time I've eaten at this location. Both times unimpressed. The first time was opening week so I gave them a bye for not greast tasting food. Tonight I ordered a couple calzones for take out. The buffalo chicken calzone is not worth getting. They put very minimal buffalo sauce on it and it clearly states comes with blue cheese dressing. I got home after picking it up and there was no blue cheese dressing. The staff obviously can't read there own description of how things are to be served. Never going back.

Not a huge fan!!! Cranston location most definitely a better experience... I did nothing but wait and wait and wait for my food, and along with the food being not even average, the service was terrible the waitresses did nothing but complain that they are working doubles. Like come on that's plenty of People willing to work double shifts...And with all that staff there you would think they have enough people to apply shifts, and they would hang out right near my table by their waitress stand and chit chat and complain about other waitress its very unprofessional! I even came back two more times to give them a couple chances thinking that being so new that they need to work the kinks out and still not impressed, hopefully Uncle Tony can get it together and live up to his name!I was a customer of the original on Smith Street and none of them were as good as that place good luck and hopefully your staff can stop talking and complaining so much it's very very distracting while I'm trying to enjoy a meal with my wife

Brand spanking new. Nice simple build out. Clean and bright. Went for lunch ordered the chicken Parm and cup of chicken escarole. The soup was decent very small cup for 3.45$ not worth it. The chicken Parm at $12.95 was down right awful. Clearly "old" dry and 3 small pieces. The pasta was way over cooked. Very disappointing. $2.45 for a fountain soda. With tax bill was $20.36. Not worth it at all. My server Linda was pleasant and was the highlight. Other than her this place has a long way to go.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians.
