Ordered for delivery from here the other night. Boyfriend had a pepperoni and bell pepper pizza and I had the tuna salad. Boyfriend said the pizza was pretty good and he was satisfied. I loved my salad. Very generous portion of tuna salad on my salad. Would consider ordering again when in town.

I have ordered Uncle Tony's catering for the past two house parties I have hosted, and it was overall a good experience. The sausage and peppers platter is the best option. The wings didn't go over too well, but were tasty. Prices are very reasonable. The party pizzas and calzones are good, but a little tip is that they are slightly better and more reasonably priced at Calvittos. So, we have learned to do a combination of catering through this restaurant and that bakery in order to create a successful amount of delicious appetizers for our guests. The employees are always friendly and efficient.

I don't think this restaurant is run the way it used to. I ordered a plate of spaghetti and meatballs to go along with some Italian bread. When I arrived there were 4 young girls working behind the counter and only one was busy on a phone order and it took almost 2 minutes to get one of the other three to ask if I had been taken care of. I had to request the bread "again"as the girl had not put that in the bag to go. I arrived home very hungry to become even more annoyed as there was barely any sauce for the spaghetti. $11.03 was too much for this. I am not in a rush to return to this place which I always spoke so highly of in the past.

Well funny how we ended up eating here tonight. The girlfriend and I thought that Uncle Tony's was a different restaurant that we have seen several time but we weren't sure exactly what the name was for the place were wanting to try. So tonight we ordered I went to go and pick it up, well here is the funny part. I went into the other restaurant and it was the wrong place. Uncle Tony's is actually 1.1 miles down the road from where I was. The ladies working there were nice, and funny. They were very fast in preparing the food too. I got home and man was it so good. We got the fried Ravioli, the Mediterranean salad the kids Ziti with sauce, and Uncle Tony's super special small pizza. Everything was very tasty I will go back.

One of my favorite, inexpensive places in RI to grab a bite to eat. The staff is attentive and friendly and the food is always fresh. Their pizza is one of my personal favorites in the state. I'm also a huge fan of restaurants who serve bread before dinner, so they get another star for that! I love the old school, family restaurant feel, as well!

On my quest to try all the classic RI pizza places, I came across Uncle Tony's and it quickly topped my list. I love the classic feel of the place. From the red booths with personal jukeboxes, to the classic pizza and italian menu, Uncle Tony's has learned to let a good thing be. I haven't ventured far from the pizza part of the menu, but as I have walked past other tables the pasta and other entrees looks just as good as the pizza. But oh, how yummy the pizza is. It's all about the crust (just the right amount of crispy and chewy) and the sauce (nice and flavorful) that has made me keep coming back. I also love the beer options - pint, schooner, or pitcher- of only the best beers (sarcasm abounds here), but when you go classic, having a bud light goes with the territory. If you're looking to break your diet for a night or to see how things have been down in RI for years, it's time for you to check out Uncle Tony's

An absolutely amazing place to eat!!! Great prices and great staff!! I always get a heated sandwich and they make it how I want it!

I've loved Uncle Tony's since the first time I tried it years ago. My cousin and I love eating here. I love how the tables are set up and each table has the little music box. The food is outstanding no matter what you order it's delicious. They have some of the best eggplant parm which I am a huge fan of. The prices are great and the service is always good. One of the best Italian spots in RI for sure!

This is a great family restaurant! I especially like the hot oven Italian grinder with everything on it! It's unique because they use mozzarella cheese and a real oven.. not a glorified toaster. It's a comfort food menu. It looks like they've never remodeled since they opened. Just maintained it with fresh paint, etc. In this case because I did go here as a kid, I think it adds to the charm. Honestly if they changed the look of the place it would be a bummer for me. It all makes sense just the way it is.

I have never had a bad meal here. I have bought gift certificates for family member. My usual meal is Spaghetti and Meatballs. Your meal comes with 2 large meatballs and plenty of pasta for an extra meal. My wife who is Italian says the sauce is pretty authentic. Great family style setting. Oh.. they still have a jukebox you play at your table.

  • Madelaine G.

Well, this time our table jukebox wasn't great, but OMG the "florentine" calzone. For 7.45. So good.

Looking for a great RI style pizza and sub shop, here it is. The pizza is cut into even squares. Each has a thick crust, with a crispy bottom and chewy texture. The sauce is flavorful and has a nice bite. There is no bar inside, though they do serve beer and wine. The decor is a bit dated. To me, its a better choice for take-out.

  • Jeffrey B.

One of my favorite places in RI. I've been going here since I was a child. The pizza is the best thing on the menu. A close second is the meatball sub. They have great specials before 4pm. I prefer take out but sometimes I do sit down and dine. The inside of the place keeps the charm of the past while maintaining good quality food. The service is always good. You really can't go wrong with this RI tradition.

Had uncle Tony's for the first time a few days ago, it tasted pretty good. Definitely better than the usual pizza chains (Pizza Hut/ Domino's) I got a large pepperoni pizza, they definitely don't go light on the toppings which is awesome, bread had a nice crisp taste to it. Overall a good experience.

I can honestly say this place produced the WORST CHICKEN PARMESAN I have ever eaten. Calling it a piece of rubber is doing it justice. I couldn't even chew it. I had to throw the chicken away. The pasta was mushy and overcooked. I hadn't been there in years and now I know why.

  • Priti K.

We were staying at Nylo across the street and got take out from here. A small pizza with pepperoni and onion. It was meh. The restaurant itself is nice and they have the red and white traditional pizza tablecloths. The service was friendly. The pizza crust is kind of thick, nothing too memorable. If you're visiting the area like we were, don't go out of your way. Our first choice would have been Brooklyn pizza but it was closed.

The food's decent, the decor is ridiculous, and the wait staff are awful. I go to all of the Uncle Tony restaurants, with the Cranston location being the most frequented as it's closest to my residence. The menus are the same, and each location pretty much makes the same food the same way, The end result is a consistent experience to the palate. Where the locations differ are interiors and staff. The Cranston location comes up dead last in this contest. The old, hard benches at the booths are so uncomfortable that it could trigger ass spasms after 10 minutes, You'll need buttocks therapy later. I wouldn't mind the hard seating if the staff was pleasant. My last two visits were harrowing because the cranky, old, battle-axe waitress simply shouldn't be in a serving profession. I won't be going back for a while.

Had Uncle Tony's for the first time and oh my wow, it's delicious. My favorite pizza place in RI. Although the pizza is good I have to minus a star because the buffalo chicken fingers weren't so buffalo. They were very good but no spice. But I do recommend this place to others. Kudos on the blue cheese.

One of my favorite places to go eat since I was a little girl Friendly staff, good fast service, moderate prices, good portions! I LOVE the chicken parm!

So far we are in and seated under ten minutes... Drinks ... Apps and food ordered. Been some time since I wrote the beginning so I guess that since we are not regulars I would say this a solid middle. Food is good. Pizza is good.

Well. This is one of those dining experiences that you go into with some initial trepidations and with each step your reticence is validated. I happened to be driving by with the kids and thought...why not. Let me tell you why not. 1st the reason for one star. The waitress was nice and very attentive. That's where the positives end! The decor is circa 1980s...but the food is god awful! The fried calamari was super greasy and lacking any taste. The "sauce" that came with it was shrimp cocktail sauce. Yuck! Now to the "main course"...Diego and I split a small pepperoni pizza. The oil/grease was floating on top forcing one to let it drip off or dab it with a napkin before taking a bite. It was overloaded wih bad mozzarella and the dough was meh! Miyako and Isabela ordered the Cleopatra sub...their verdict....MEH! The final verdict....avoid Uncle Tonys! !! Too many good pizza joints in RI to settle for this place. Salud!

THIS PLACE! The sauce the atmosphere! The fact I have made this my first stop every time I'm return to Rhode Island! I love this place he food is to die for and I can't help but say dream about it when I'm away! I have tried just about everything! My personal favorite is the veal or chicken parm... I always get the mozzarella sticks and whatever I can stuff my face with while I'm here.

Even during slow periods there isn't a hostess to seat you, employees just walk by and ignore you so it's an awkward few minutes. Place needs a serious upgrade. Service ranges from cranky to friendly within the same trip. Pretty sure the seafood comes in frozen, but if you don't think about it, it tastes pretty good. My husband loves the chicken parm. Pizza is greasy but good.

I love Uncle Tony's. It is old school with great flavors, portion sizes and prices. Great place to take the family for a casual night out. This inside is wood booths with high backs or tables. They have t take-out counter where you can pich some items up in a hurry. The service is always good. The one main thing about UT's is they are consistant. They are ont of the first places I went to here in RI and even though I am a foodie and try lots of other joints, these guys are always a pleasure. Especially for a family.

I ate pizza in a the Cranston/Providence area in a few different places, and I can say Uncle Tony's has been consistently excellent. The doe is perfect. Not too thick and not too thin. It isn't oily like the other spots I ate at. The toppings and cheese are fresh. You can taste the freshness. I docked it a star because I think the interior can use some work, but it is old timey looking. They have juke boxes at each table, which is pretty cool. I recommend this spot for a pizza if you are in Rhode Island.

I have been going here for years, but my lunch here a few weeks ago was terrible. The wait was LONG for our food, we were there, for lunch I remind you, for about an hour. The chicken parm wasnt very good, the fries were old, refried, and nasty. We had a side of sauce to go along with the bread and it was $2? For a small cup of sauce? I have no problem paying, but that seemed a bit excessive (especially considering we only wanted a little bit and ended up wasting most of it). The server took the fries off the bill - but because they were part of a "combo up" I believe she removed 50 cents - and did so without an apology. I know this is coming off as sounding cheap, but for lunch it was about $35 with tax and tip, and for what we got, the long wait, and the unsympathetic service it was not worth it. I dont know when/if we will return.

A classic staple for me back home. The checkered table clothes, the wooden booths and chairs, and some great Italian food (which over the past 20 years has been consistantly great!). The Brutus Sandwich is amazing, so is the Cleopatra, the pizza, and their mozzarella sticks are perfect. Be sure to bring some coins to play the juke boxes at each booth table just like the old days!

This is based on the Chicken Parmesan only. I would have tried something else. But I was told it was really good. In glowing terms, the best "eveah". It was ok. I have made better. Maybe the pizza next time.

I enjoy local pizza much more than any chain restaurant pizza. So far, everything we've tried here has been great. It's a bit further than some of my other local pizza spots, but it's worth the extra 10 minute drive (they don't deliver, but I don't usually get delivery). Can't wait to try some of the other menu items. Not sure about the restaurant, we've only ordered take out. The staff have all been very friendly.

I have been coming here since I was a kid, *I will love this place 4-evah & always!* PLUMPY!!! Forget a Klondike Bar, I would do anythign for a Plumpy! If you have never had a Plumpy...here goes, Spinach and olives marinated in olive oil and garlic stuffed in fresh dough with cheese and pepperoni, baked to a golden brown. Oh, and did I mention that its freakishly huge :) They also have great salads, dinners & grindahs. If you live in RI & haven't figured out yet what a "grindah" is, you got problems! I have this Thursday off from work, I may be driving to Cranston....

Best pizza in Cranston, the food takes some time because they actually use fresh ingredients. Their chicken soup is phenomenal as well, try this place and enjoy.

4 stars for food, but the service is a 2 for terrible. Lack of basic courtesy, especially when you call in or pickup an order. Too bad, because I'd love to give them a rave review. If they would train their staff in good customer service techniques, this place would be amazing.

One of my favorite pizza places. Wish they delivered! I always ask for it well done, or it might not be crispy.

The owner of the company called me directly to offer his apology. Since an apology was what I really wanted in the first place, it was very much appreciated.

My go-to place for home cooked comfort food. I know there are many, many more fine dining options for Italian cuisine in little Rhody- but this place has amazing "pig-out and enjoy food"- like you've had a bad day and yes- I want to eat a sub as big as my arm sandwich-kinda day--- this is the place to go. My favorite is the Marc Anthony Sandwich. This with a side of calamari- you can not go wrong. They have great service and are always friendly. One of my favorites!

Okay, I am going to skip right to the main point of this review: Best Eggplant Sandwich in RI, hands down. I have been going here for years, and despite a typically overwhelmed service staff, the FOOD remains consistently delicious and near perfect. Don't expect a fancy, candle-lit Italian dinner. This is straight up old school New England style casual dining, complete with cramped wooden booths and lunch specials running under $10 bucks (I get the eggplant sandwich, w/ a salad for $8.45). Whats best is the portions are typically large, so your dollar goes far (I am eating the leftovers FROM A SANDWICH, as I write this). And there's also a deal where you can add a beer for like a buck or two (sorry hop-heads, it's Budweiser country). As far as service goes, it is nothing bad, but nothing to brag about. The servers usually seem to be handling just a little more then humanly possible, so sometimes if you ask for something it takes a while... this, however, is not a problem for me as I have come to expect it and don't care. The food is just too darn good to be concerned with such petty details, such as service.

We tried Uncle Tony's Pizza based on the reviews we saw on yelp and it was one of the best pizzas we had in a long while. The sauce was extremely good and we are glad that we didn't go to chain pizza joint!!

Uncle Tony's has been a tradition in my family for two generations. I ate there so much as a kid, I assumed that round pizzas were strange and rectangular ones were the norm. It's a family-style Italian restaurant with generous portions of pasta, italian dishes, and grinders, and a long history of serving up great pizza, too. Feeding quarters into the little personal jukebox system in each booth around the restaurant can keep the kids busy while you're chowing down on chicken parm grinders served in bright red baskets - the same way they've been doing it for decades. Be sure to slurp up their chicken soup - I hate admitting this, but it's the only one to rival my grandmother's.

  • Lou C.

Waiting 10 mins to be seated with more than half the place empty should have been a sign, SLOW service 53 minute wait for a Cleopatra sandwich is ridiculous, kids meals showing up after that is insane! Pizza is super greasy and tasteless! Sandwich was cold and mushy! ( Couldn't tell what was chicken and what was vegetable in the sandwich). Waitress was argumentative and never around to do refills of sodas and bread. Bad experience is the only thing left to say. Will not return to this particular chain again.

Uncle Tony's was always a favorite for years. Consistently excellent pizza, meatball sandwiches and lunch/dinners at the right price. That was until recently. I am a consistent customer, I go with my kids at least once a month, often times more than that... Or did. No more. Here are my last three visits in synopsis: 1. Pizza was overdone. Thinner than usual. Burnt in places. Too crispy, not in a good way. Not enough sauce. Not very good. 2. Pizza was once again overdone, not enough sauce, overly greasy and not appetizing at all. 3. Today we waited 45 minutes for our food and finally asked for the check because we had a doctor's appointment and ran out of time before we could be disappointed once again by the food. Bottom line: After 30 years of consistent greatness the food and service are heading downhill. We won't be back. Too many other better options to allow them to live off the reputation.

I have been going to Uncle Tonys for years; delicious baked ziti and eggplant parm. Always a go to spot for me when I am craving Italian food. I love their sauce!!! I am always pleased with Uncle Tonys.

Good crispy pizza. Sauce is sweet but in a good way. Ample amount of cheese. One of the best things about them is that they always show you the pizza before they give it to you, so you can see if there's anything wrong with it.

  • Bill W.

I recently moved back to RI and this place is as good as it gets. The subs are great, I have had the meatball, the sausage, Italian, and eggplant and they have all been crazy good. They have great soup and although I have not tried one my Mother raves about the salads. This place is a sure shot with excellent service to boot! Not sure what happened with some of the low ratings but this place has been nothing but good for me.

  • Tiffany T.

I cannot believe this place is in business! Dining room smells horrible, the place is a total dump, food presentation was terrible and the service was just so-so. All this would be fine if the price were right or the food tasted amazing but unfortunately that was not the case. The fettucini alredo was like $12.00 (without any meat or seafood). Now that's not TOO bad except you had to buy the salad seperate. My total dinner came to around $17. I would expect that price to reflect the food quality, atmosphere, and service. This was obviously not the case. I will never go back and if it were up to me I would stand outside the door and advise patrons to spend their money elsewhere.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
