I am always looking for small local businesses to support, rather than big chain restaurants, so I was happy to stumble across this place for lunch one day. I work in Cranston next to Subway and near a Burger King, neither of which are particularly appetizing to me. Michelangelo's serves up a great variety of deli sandwiches both hot and cold and a variety of other items. I was on a time crunch, so I had to make a quick decision which was difficult when presented with so many options. I found the staff to be extremely friendly, even thought they were rushing to complete orders. The sandwiches I got were tasty and unique. I am definitely looking forward to going back there soon. There appeared to be lots of regulars.. which in my book is always a good sign! Thanks for an enjoyable sub done right! FYI... try the homemade banana bread!

I've been going here for years and this has become increasingly disappointing. I live 200 feet away in Garden City and will not be back as this last visit tipped me over the edge. 13 minutes for 10 slices of meat and cheese and pasta salad AND I was the only customer?! 3 employees on including the young owner son who needs an ego check. I've also purchased rancid food which should have been my first sign. What an inconvenience.

This place is great! They have been in business for 25 years so you know they must be doing something right. Thier sandwiches are always fresh and delicious and the help is very friendly. The location is a little off the beaten path but worth seaking out. Enjoy!

Ordered two lunch specials which is a pretty good deal. $7 for half sandwich with a side and soda. The sandwiches tasted fine but when I opened mine from the wrapper it only looked like a bun with nothing on it. I got the Godfather and was tasty but had hardly anything on it. Basically just tasted like a balsamic soaked bun with some grilled chicken. Only one slice of prosciutto and they forgot the cheese. My boyfriend got the sandwich special which was loaded with rabe but also had hardly any prosciutto. Would give it a better rating if the sandwiches had more on them. Otherwise a fine experience.

This place is great! I stumbled upon this deli by accident--I was searching for a bakery, and my GPS lead me to one that was in the same area, but it was closed. I suddenly had a craving for an Italian hero, and saw Michelangelo's and decided to go in. It is so cute inside! There is casual seating around the deli area, a full selection of chips and drinks, a special Italian packaged goods area (Italian pasta, cookies), and of course the deli case. They have a good selection of Italian meats and cheeses, and all of the pre-made food looks awesome (especially the lasagna!). I had the special Sicilian sandwich with fresh mozzarella in place of the provolone. It was fantastic! The bread was perfect, meat was delicious, and the mozzarella was to die for (I ended up getting 1/2 lb of the mozz. to take home with me). The prices are very reasonable--the foot-long sub was only $6, and the 1/2 lb of mozz was $4! I would definitely recommend this place for lunch, and their dinner menu looks awesome as well. Can't wait to go back!

Second visit here. Very good again. My only suggestion would be to lose the 60's music. Very outdated.

Great food! Friendly staff! I'm usually in once a week around lunch time. Try the Politician or Steves Wonder on a wrap. The pepperoni pizza slices are delicious!

Deli meets were on point my girlfriend got the politician sandwich which was awesome I got the George dubbyuha which they ran out of steak and gave me roast beef instead which was awesome as well no fat on it at all. The pasta salad we had was awesome too. I'll be back forsure.

This is a nice deli. We stopped in recently on a Saturday. Service was friendly and quick. The menu had a nice variety of sandwiches and there were a lot of tasty-looking prepared foods in the cold case. We were in a hurry so we just picked up a couple chicken salad wraps and a couple meatball calzones. The wraps were good, the chicken salad was fresh. The kids didn't like the calzones. I tried one and they were definitely underdone - the dough was still mushy. The meatballs were tasty. So, the food wasn't great but I will probably try it again when we have more time since they have a lot of variety.

Great to arrive on the East Coast and be greeted by an awesome Deli......friendly and welcoming with very diverse menu. Had chicken escarole soup and tuna on Rye toast . Very tasty. All others were ordering much more creative sandwiches which looked great. Eat in( order and then sit) or take out. If you are in the area definitely worth a visit . Near to all PVD hotels...

We wanted a special party to celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary. we wanted our children & there spouses, and our grandchildren & their significant others. We do not see each other as often as we would like as the families are separated by many miles. We wanted excellent food & drink& service we could depend on. I started doing research & decided that Michelangelo"s fit our expectations. We got exactly what we wanted & more! Thank you for making our 60th anniversary party a party that we will all remember. Fanstastic Deli! The selection is amazing and the prices are very reasonable. You can dine in or take out. The greek salad is absolutely to die for. I don't even use the dressing as the vegetables are marinated to perfection! They have a list of specialty sandwiches that deserves a look at. This is my new go to place for a salad at lunchtime or takeout for dinner. Forget about fast good!

When I first walked in I was kind of turned off but I quickly found out that I was wrong. This place is nice and quaint. The people are all really nice and there is a huge menu. I had the chicken cordon bleu, which was great, tasted like real chicken. Definitely recommend.

My favorite deli in RI--hands down. Even after I moved to Attleboro, I still make the drive there for their chicken salad--lots of chunk white meat, celery, and very little mayo. PERFECT! Also, try their homemade pickles and my favorite side--the bowtie pasta salad made with balsamic vinegrette. The owner, Mike, is always friendly as are his staff and you can see why this family business has been around for as long as it has. In a town full of Italian delis, this one is the real gem.

I've gotten bad food out of their case twice now which is why I will not return. I work in the neighborhood in the food service industry and am equally disappointed with the service. I am all for young kids working but you need to teach them professionalism, speed, customer service and food safety. When ordering delivery over the phone the customer should not hear things like "yo, you feel like doing 1 more? Seriously man it's just up the street, just do it" as the delivery boy took his time deciding. Good to know my food and your income were based on the whim of whether someone felt like it in that moment. Firstly, maybe teach staff about the mute option on the phone or to cover it with their hand. Not that I've ever seen any form of management or supervision on my visits. Too many chances given of my time and money here. Save yours.

Good Food and great lunch specials, there is a quality here unlike other Deli's and they have plenty of pasta salads/soups that are also very good. They are clean and professional, wish there were more shops like this around.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
